I have spent thousands of dollars at Simplicity Laser and have been a loyal client at the South Austin location. This has been one of the most frustrating customer experiences I've ever had. I purchased a 16 treatment plan and was assured that the package deadline only referred to the payment plan. 2 years later having only done 9/16 treatments they are telling me that my plan is done and i can not get the remainder of the treatments. I have had the worst experience with management at this location. I would strongly suggest using a different chain than this one. They have no customer service and they are very rude. read more

I had an appointment scheduled for 10:40 AM today. Due to traffic, I called ahead to the management department and spoke with Cameron. I was explicitly told that it would be fine to proceed to the clinic and that a note would be added to my profile to ensure I was seen. Despite driving 50 minutes to get there, I was refused service upon arrival. The clinic staff claimed Cameron's note stated I could only be seen if time permitted; otherwise, the appointment should be canceled. When I called management to resolve this, the situation escalated unprofessionally. After explaining that I had wasted nearly two hours in travel time based on Cameron's instructions, Cameron hung up on me as soon as I identified myself. A subsequent call with the manager responsible for the South Austin location was even more distressing, as she admitted to instructing Cameron to hang up on me. I find this level of disrespect and the conflicting information provided by your staff completely unacceptable. Idk what everyone is so fussy about. I had my first laser apt which took 5 minutes and the employee who did it was very polite and nice. She was really professional and answered all my questions. Everyone is complaining because if you are late they charge you and can't fit you into the schedule anymore. What do you expect? Their small area appointment are slotted to be max 5 minutes back to back so they can be efficient with their business, so yeah, when you're late it messes everything up for them. They're also very clear about what you need to do beforehand in terms of shaving and clothes to wear. So just... follow directions. I've only had one session and have already noticed dramatic changes so it's definitely working. Also, get the gel and apply it everyday! It's very important otherwise your skin starts getting warm randomly and it can get uncomfortable. You can also get one on Amazon if you don't want to buy theirs. But I bought their small bottle and it will last me a long time because you don't apply a ton. So final tips: -follow pre and post laser directions to a T -be 5 min early to your apt -schedule your next apt right away and don't change it -buy some form of cooling gel -you don't have to buy their membership if you don't want to: it was not a fit for me because of the service I was getting. I never do this, but I have to warn everyone about Simplicity Laser. I don't sign long-term contracts, but somehow they have a digital signature on a 24-month contract. They are charging monthly, but they will only schedule me every 6 weeks, regardless of results. My first visit, I ended up with a burn across the whole area, which after 20 years of laser hair removal has never happened to me before. The people giving five stars must have never come on a weekend, evening, or ever had to reschedule. Don't come here! I got sucked in with a cheap Groupon, but wow what a shit show. If you schedule your appointment on the evenings or weekends, be prepared to wait 30 minutes beyond your appointment time. With their incredibly strict late policy (I mean literally if you are 2 min late, you may not get treated), I'm not sure how that even happens, but once they were late to even my 8am appt (opening at 7am). I really haven't noticed any difference in my bikini area hair growth, and they just continue to push their restorative gel (when I have a very customized post laser cate routine from my dermatologist). Every receptionist, technician, and other employee I've interacted with has been friendly, informative, and efficient. My tech answered every question I had and made me feel comfortable during my very first laser experience, especially when it occasionally pinched pretty hard, she would stop and ask if I was okay before continuing. I was super skeptical with some of these one-star reviews but got a Groupon to just try it out. I'm so glad I did! If you show up when you're supposed to and do all the pre-care steps they email you several times before your appointment, then it'll be great. I bought another package I was so impressed and the receptionist worked with me to include it in my next appointment! Costumer service is very poor. I think they are more interested in the volume of people they want to have. The time to schedule or reschedule an appointment is very limited. If for some reason you are late 5 minutes and you have a treatment for several areas of your body, they will not treat one of your areas cause they don't take a break between one costumer and another. I'm honestly extremely frustrated with the customer service and lack of availability to work with simplicity. I haven't been since august and today was my first day back. It's not for the lack of trying, most times they are booked 5-7 weeks out. When the esthetician says i need to go every 3 weeks but they don't have availability. I've sat on hold many times trying to schedule an appointment... 30/45 mins most times. If they are booked 5 weeks out then it makes sense for me to book multiple appointments but it's not possible with their system. Also, they don't give out the cleanser anymore so make sure you wash your face before going or they will need to reschedule you. No big deal if it's the morning. The south austin one is nice but the gps doesn't take you to the exact location. I sat on the phone for ten mins trying to talk to someone to see where it actually is. Then I finally get there and they are like "we can still see you". Obviously the address issue, is not my issue. This company doesn't take accountability at all & clearly out to get money. Don't take on new clients and keep running Groupons if you are that packed. I don't think I ever no-showed an appointment in my life. But I no-showed the last appt. It was either get charged a no-show fee or have my day completely ruined. I chose to get charged the no-show fee There's so many other options in austin. I recommend Sev or Alite Laser. I normally don't write reviews, but I felt so disrespected that I am compelled to do so.  First I'd like to say that the laser treatments at the studio are effective and done so in a professional manner. The two practitioners that I had worked with before were amazing and treated me with respect.  However, today was an entirely different experience. I am a kindergarten teacher and drove nearly 1 hour from my school to make it to this appointment. I have always been punctual to my previous appointments however today when I arrived there was no parking available.  When I walked in, I honored and respected the company's protocol by wearing my mask and utilizing the hand sanitizer at the entrance.  I was not so much even greeted but instead questioned "what's your first name?" I promptly answered. Then the practitioner said, "You're three minutes late but OK I'll see you." Okay...  I was taken back by her rudeness but said OK and continued to follow her towards the laser room. I then asked her "What is y'all's protocol on the window of time for arriving to an appointment?" She quickly responded with, "I told you I would see you so what's the problem?" Wow.   I couldn't believe someone in the service industry would take on an attitude like this with a client. Beyond being stunned by her response, I try to understand why the point was even made. She broke everything down to the minute saying it takes two minutes to wash your face, and two minutes to do the questions, etc. At this point, I could see this was going nowhere and she would defend her attitude so I just said OK.  This would've been the perfect opportunity for her to apologize for coming at me in a manner that was rude. But she didn't.  Nevertheless, we proceed with the session and she asked me some questions about my hair growth. I answer her; of course there's tension already which makes the experience extremely unpleasant.  Anticipating someone operating a laser on your face after throwing shade feels uncomfortable, trust me.  After my response that I was having some peach fuzz come back she said she would not work on me today. She recommended that I don't get worked on today because it would inhibit new hair growth. I'm sure her recommendation was accurate and reasonable but why was I not informed about this possible situation before I drove an hour out of my way to this appointment?  So I was instructed to follow her out back  to the front desk and she explained to the receptionist there that I need a consultation in a couple of weeks to make a plan of action.  I am a kindergarten teacher who works long hours, so I scheduled this appointment after work. It took me nearly an hour to get there which I don't mind if I'm actually going to be worked on. But to be told that my hair growth wasn't at a place that can be worked on is something that could have been explained or inquired about beforehand.  When I brought up the suggestion that we could be asked beforehand through a phone conversation or something prior to making the effort to come in, the receptionist snapped back saying, "We're not gonna call you to ask you questions." She repeated it a couple of times, like how dare I suggest that. I replied, "I don't mean for you to call us per se but give us the opportunity to know what is being looked for so we don't waste your time or our time."  She then said, "That's how laser always works." And I said, "Well what makes you assume that your clients have done laser before? Many of us are doing this for the first time."  I then suggested maybe this could be in the paperwork we sign in the beginning or verbally told initially. And she then said, "Well if you call us we will answer any of your questions."  Logically this makes no sense because we are talking about unknown information. Why would I ask a question on such a specific matter if I have no idea it's even something to address?  Basically, if we know only certain states of hair growth needs to be treated on, then I think we as an informed client can schedule our appointments wisely.  Hence all in all, I left with such a bad feeling. I've been coming here for almost a year and the service is not bad. I don't usually wait but it's because I work close to this location and I don't get a lot of traffic during the day when I make the appointments. The treatments are short, so in 5 mins I'm done. The technicians are helpful and professional, I've always have a different one though, but it may be because I don't request a specific person for the treatment. I gave a 4 start rating because I can just use my own experience, reading some of the other reviews, I can see why some customers are upset. One time I came in with my son and they said I couldn't bring children to the place. I didn't know this so I had to cancel and reschedule, even though I drove for 30 mins to get to the location since I was driving from my home. My son is not that young and the treatment is fast so I don't see why they couldn't accommodate. On another ocassion, I had a work situation and called earlier to see if I could change my appointment, but they said I had to call 24 hours before, so I lost that appointment. They said I can retain it for $20.00 but that's more than what I was paying a month, thus it wasn't worth it. However, I did buy the restorative gel and the sun block which I still use as of today and I'm very pleased with those products. read more

They kept my $20 and said that was a set up fee, which no one explained to me. I don't knw what they had to set up when I already had an account with them. UPDATE:April- a supervisor called me multiple times until she reached me. She stated how she wanted to make things right. So, she put the funds for the membership and fee as a credit on my account. This place has the right ingredients to really be a solid 4 star laser spa: good location, seemingly knowledgeable staff and decent prices. However, there's a certain lack of customer consideration when it comes to how they deal with unforeseen circumstances. I've been coming to this place for about 10 months and while it's been a revolving door or personnel attending to me, I haven't minded that much as they seemed to be fairly experienced with treating Black skin. They have a very strict punctuality policy and will not accommodate customers who are even slightly late to their appointment and honestly, I'm fine with that. As long as they also hold themselves to the same standard, which as evidenced by my last encounter with them is not the case. I had an appointment scheduled with them well in advance for 9/21 at 1pm. I got a call that morning from them saying that the appointment would have to be rescheduled as their laser machine had broken down. Imagine my befuddlement when the receptionist said the only other time they could offer me that worked with my schedule (after 5pm on workdays or anytime on weekends) was 11/2. When I expressed my displeasure, the receptionist said I could come in on a Tuesday at 9am. I'm not sure what about my history with this spa or my person gave her the impression that I am an idle woman who doesn't have a job to attend to during business hours. So, because your business didn't have a contingency plan for when a machine goes out, I have to leave my office on a Tuesday morning at 9am to go get a laser treatment?...Make it make sense. Treatments 12 weeks apart seems like a waste of time and money, you would expect a laser business to know that. I understand that life happens but as a business the onus is on you to not inconvenience your customers unduly. Your machine breaks down? Extend your Weekend hours so you're not pushing customers off schedule and treating 12 weeks apart. read more

When walking into Simplicity Laser, you will first be greeted by someone sitting behind the desk with RBF saying accusatorially, "Do you have an appointment?" or sometimes just, "Name." For your first appointment, they'll hand you a clipboard with 5,000 questions that take 10 minutes, and then when you're finally finished with the documents, they'll tell you that because your appointment began 5 minutes ago, they can't see you anymore in a cold, unapologetic way. Next, you will try to reschedule your appointment, but they won't have another opening for over a month. You ask if you still have to pay for this month's membership given that you were not able to receive any treatments. They will talk in circles, finally landing coldly on, "Yes. You still have to pay." Next month, they don't send you a reminder text as promised. You call to say you say that you didn't receive one. They say, "yes, you did." You take a screenshot of your history to prove that you never received one. Instead of apologizing, they just say, "okay." And yes, you have to pay for that appointment you missed because they didn't text you as promised. If you happen to have a quiet, middle-school child whose school was closed they will bark at you, "Ma'am! Ma'am! You can't have a kid in here!" This is understandable and you would have been okay with it, but they're so rude about it that your child is visibly upset as she is banished to sit in the car by herself for the 10 minute appointment. Finally, you are led back to a brightly lit room where a woman is blasting truly offensive rap music. She'll command you to "strip," but the air conditioning is blowing down on you and its literally 34 degrees outside that day. You ask if she can turn down the AC. She says "no." You joke, "y'all should give out blankets!" to which she scowls and says nothing. Next, you will be criticized 3 times for how badly you shaved as she burns your vagina mercilessly. When you ask if she can turn the intensity down please, she scolds you saying, "Well, are you exfoliating? With what? Are you using a glove? Are you using a scrub? What kind of scrub? Are you using our gel? Have you bought our gel? Because if you're not using, we're going to have to CONSTANTLY turn down the level, you're not going to get good results." Are you kidding me?!!! I've been here four times and never asked for it to be turned it down. Stop scolding me while you're burning my vagina. When you leave, you ask the woman at the front desk if you could have a different technician next time. They say they can't make any promises but they'll make a note. You explain that this technician was rude the past several times I've been here. The technician butts in saying,"Ma'am! I've only seen you twice!" To be transparent, I didn't get a service done here, but hopefully my story of why will sway you to stay away from this place. If you're thinking about booking a Groupon, DON'T! I have gotten laser hair removal done before and needed a touch-up so I bought a Groupon here before reading reviews. Sorry mistake. To begin with, you don't actually call this specific location to book any appointments or if you have any questions. You have to call a 1-800 number where you'll probably be put on hold. Then they'll immediately try to upsell you by saying your 6 sessions won't really get it all done and offer a deal if you purchase on the spot. I was already wary at this point but since my Groupon purchase was done, I kept going. It took me almost 20 minutes on the phone to book my first appointment because their system won't show you available appointments during the dates/times you want them, for example Friday afternoons. Anyway, finally it's my appointment day, which I had to book at least a month in advance. I was stuck in typical Austin rush hour traffic and even though I left early, I showed up a few minutes late. Upon arrival, there was no one at the receptionist desk. Only a sign that told you to sign in and that everyone is at lunch until 5:30p. My appointment was at 4:50 and I showed up at 4:55. I was super confused, did they forget my appointment? I called their 1-800 line and explained that I was a few minutes late and that I didn't know what to do since I couldn't call this location directly, in which they just responded that I should have called this corporate line so they could in turn tell this location. Ok?? Finally someone comes out from the back after a good 10 minutes of me wondering what to do in their lobby, and she not so kindly tells me that everyone is at lunch and that my treatment was only supposed to be 5 minutes long, so since I was late, I missed it. This was an obvious red flag. The area I was booked to treat is considered a "Large" area in their pricing scale. In my past experiences, it took at least 15-20 minutes overall in the treatment room. Makes me wonder how much care they would have really put into it if my entire appointment, especially as a new client, was only scheduled to be 5 minutes long. After this infuriating experience, I refused to go through with my treatments at this place and I'm so glad Groupon was able to refund me, although they were initially resistant. I've been going to Simplicity laser on West Anderson for over a year and the results are great. The technicians are professional and efficient. If that was the whole experience I would give the place 5 stars. However, over the course of the year, the professional & friendly atmosphere I experienced in the beginning has gotten way worse. Last couple of times I went for my appointment, they were 15 minutes late. When ONCE I was 10 mins late, they charged me a late fee and sent me away with a rescheduled appointment. I think that's very unfair! The most outrageous thing that happened was yesterday during my 15 minute wait. Two employees were sitting at the reception when another client came in. They told the client to wash her face so she headed to the restroom. The moment she was out of sight, the employees started laughing at her!! It turned out after that it was the MANAGER laughing!!!! When I told the technician about the incident, she said that I'm not the first person complaining about what's happening at the reception. I went to talk to the manager and she looked at me smiling and said I'm sorry for your experience. I was like, REALLY? Some know some bikini areas go inward so they give a little inward treatment, others stick to right outside underwear line and another goes more in/down along the lines of an actual bikini. Overall. Tried a package from Groupon and will not be using all of my sessions because this place is that bad. They've removed all chairs and make you stand on numbers on the floor waiting, really sets the tone of the place. Still hardcore masking even if you're vaccinated, but rooms just have paper covering the beds that tears easily and beds are dirty. I've been made to stand on a number for over 20 minute waiting on my appointment most times, I arrived 5 minutes late (literally, just 5 minutes on the nose) and it took them another 5 to even acknowledge me standing there and they said they couldn't see me because I was so late.
