Very poor customer service and workmanship. 1-1/2 years ago Minh installed a new electrical panel/riser/weather head. Two weeks ago the riser had fallen due to only one bracket Minh used to secure to the house had broken off. I called Minh he said he was on vacation and couldn't do anything to assist and ignored my calls after his return. I was without power for two weeks and had to call another electrician to clean up his poor installation of securing the riser. Not other did it cost me additional money to hire a different electrical company I was without power. Do not believe anything about Minh warranty his work it's not true. He also gave me options to choose from (front of garage vs back) along with what materials would be needed and the price differences. Project was to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet in the garage for EV charging. Simply Electric and owner Minh was the only vendor that came by for the estimate on Saturday. At first I wanted to install the outlet from the sub panel. He strongly suggested not to do that because codes violation and high risk of fire. We ended up pulling a 50 ft conduit from the main panel and per his advice, we installed an industrial grade Hubbell receptacle, which is recommended by Tesla. We needed troubleshooting of some flaky power in the back bedrooms of our 50's-era Los Altos home, along with a couple dedicated circuits for our master bath (one for a space heater, one for a Toto washlet). Minh was responsive, friendly, cost-effective and most importantly did a great job. I highly recommend him and would absolutely hire him again. Re: troubleshooting, he figured out that our new treadmill in the guest room plus the space heater in the bathroom were the root cause, drawing too much power through our old wiring. So in addition to the two circuits for the bathroom, he added a dedicated circuit for the treadmill and thankfully before we damaged it by not giving it proper power and voltage. He also cleaned and replaced a couple old and largely burned out breakers in our main panel. Our space heater(s) were likely big contributors to that burnout. He ran the wires for the new circuits from our subpanel in our unfinished garage (we put the subpanel in ~10 years ago during a significant remodel) and hid them inside the garage wall, then under the house and over to the bedroom and bathroom. It was a nice clean job, the new receptacles look and work great, and he was also very respectful about keeping the inside floors clean with drop cloths. Aside from the work he was also very informative. I asked him a lot of questions which he answered happily and I learned a lot from him. #1 - any time you have an appliance that uses more than half the rated current (or power) for a circuit, that appliance needs a dedicated circuit. Having just purchased a Nissan Leaf, we were looking for someone to install a Level 2 charger. I did some research on Yelp and included Simply Electric on my quotation list. Minh came out on a weekend to do a preliminary look-see without charging us and gave us a quotation right then and there. Later that evening, my wife and I decided to green-light the installation. The day before the install, Minh sent us an email reminder, which should be standard, but it is a nice touch. On the day of the install, Minh arrived as scheduled at 8:00 a.m. and his assistant arrived a few minutes later. Our job required the routing of wiring from the back of our garage, which is where our panel is located, to the front of the garage, which is where we wanted to put our charger. This required both long runs of AWG 6 wire and conduit. Also, the spot where we wanted the charger had no wall (only studs) so Minh installed some plywood to mount the charger on. Minh also made sure to install a heavy-duty socket, which is something that we didn't even think about asking for. During the install, Minh periodically consulted with me to approve the location and arrangement of the charger, and he cheerfully accepted my suggestions. The conduit was routed around the perimeter of our garage, and not in a straight line from the box to the charger, which I really appreciated because it looks so much better around the perimeter.
