There are people out there who will eat any cupcake, be it dry, smuuschy, even with that frighteningly pretend frosting that could be sold on eBay under "vintage" (not in a good way..._). I am not one of those people. Another note I feel is essential for you to know is that I know my strengths - baking good cupcakes is not one of them. Like good bread, I am happy to wear the crown of "Queen of knowing how to purchase great cakes/cupcakes, and breads". Simply Sweet is now my go-to! This year, we decided on going with Simply Sweet Bakery! YAY! ...small problem...I needed them ASAP as the season got away from me, and the Panthers were at the very end of their regular season! Yikes! I completely blame myself, but I needed them on a Wednesday, and Simply Sweet is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays...oh dear...50 cupcakes...oh dear...Did I mention this was on a Sunday, after they had closed, when this came to light? Oh dear! I sent an email explaining my plight with no expectations of success... Guess what! Not only did I receive an email response in record time, but THE CUPCAKES WERE READY AND WAITING BY NOON ON THAT WEDNESDAY!!!! They were so beautiful! They were SO TASTY! They were perfect! In long We needed a bunch of cupcakes for a family event--with a bunch of off-the-wall special requests to go with the order. They happily handled it all right away and got everything ready to go just on time for a very fair price. Nice! They're in a newer shopping center above Bickford on your way into town. Parking is a bit of a merry-go-round, and busy days can make it feel like a jungle on the way in, too. But ya get there. Staff are super warm and genuine, really listening right from the first words out of your mouth. They have a little dining room where you can hang out if you're dining in with your cupcakes. Very clean and minimal design, nothing to stand between you and the treats--just a small shelf displaying the ones that are in stock for today. Like I say, I was in and out after picking up my order, and I didn't linger over the in-house experience. But the cupcakes were fantastic, and they dealt with all our oddball requests with no problems at all. They really know what they're doing here. Simply Sweet saved the day when my wedding cake didn't turn out how I had wanted it the day before my wedding! We ordered from a local baker who did a great job on the cake, but did not do what we had agreed on for the top of the cake (just married written in black cursive). My husband picked up the cake around noon the day before the wedding and brought it home. After seeing it was not what we had ordered, we couldn't get a hold of the original baker. I panicked, and called other local bakeries. Simply Sweet had me send a photo via email and responded immediately with "we can fix that, no problem!" Found this place online and pre ordered a cake for Christmas off their website, along with some decorated sugar cookies for a party. The cake looked just like the website, as well as the sugar cookies. The cake was good, however the decorated sugar cookies had way too much almond extract for my liking, and my guests as well. The sugar cookie and the frosting both had the extract and it was overpowering. I picked up some other cookies while I was there to get my pre order. They looked good and I love a gingerbread cookie so I got one of those and a chocolate peppermint to try. They were really good! The gingerbread cookie was half dipped into a vanilla icing, it was especially good. I went back a few days later to try and get some more but unfortunately it was pretty late in the day so they didn't have any. I did get a M&M, Chocolate and I think a "birthday" or "celebration" sugar cookie to try though. The sugar cookie was how I was hoping the Christmas ones came, it had vanilla instead of almond and not too much. Everything was good except the too much almond in the Christmas Sugar Cookies. I would recommend this place and I will be back for more cookies in the future! read more

If I could rate you higher I would! Simply Sweet provided a cake & cupcakes for my wedding over the weekend. They also provided a smaller lemon cake and almond sugar cookies for my bridal shower. We had the most decadent and delicious red velvet cake for our wedding cake and a variety of cupcake flavors including gluten free surrounding the cake for all our guests. My husband is not a huge sweets person but that cake and the most delicious cream cheese frosting had the two of us in heaven. We got so many compliments and people asking where the cake was from. I have been here a couple times years ago. I think my only complaint was the amount of frosting on the cupcakes but I am not a huge fan of frosting and I prefer whipped frosting to buttercream. The inside was small when I went there years ago! Not sure if it the inside is bigger now with more seating or not. I had told the lady that I had never been here before and wanted to ask a few questions. She was super helpful and seemed to know her way around. You are able to rent tier type trays for display.
