Unsure as to why I gave this place 3 stars in the first place. My boyfriend and I frequent this place often as undergraduate students at SUCO and are saddened to graduate this month because we will not be able to have anymore date nights here! Now for the food: Calamari is always really good and done really well here. Never chewy and the breading is authentic. Comes with a sweet chili sauce that is delicious! Pad Thai and Curry are my most selected items and never disappoint. Spicyness level is pretty accurate and ON POINT. Simply Thai was a nice and calm sit down restaurant with pleasant service and yummy hot food. I enjoyed the chicken pad thai and my friend got the Wild Ginger chicken. Both were good! We were gifted authentic chop sticks at the end of our meal as a part of their Grand Opening week. So that was very thoughtful and cool. Decent Thai place for small town USA. Had the Pad Thai, Thai fried rice, fried dumplings, and Thai coffee. The dumplings was super fried. Maybe steamed would be better. Standard Pad Thai n fried rice were fine-- nothing great but definitely acceptable. The place has nice decorations n is clean. Only two waiters so a bit wait. Had to ask for chop sticks. Positives: Peanut sauce is yummy Staff seemed nice Spring rolls are great (expensive) Negatives: Fried Tofu has ZERO taste and is water logged when you bite it, and its gross After a few bites, everything pretty much tastes the same Given an EXTREMELY small amount of rice Not at all worth the price the noodles had some burning? Our meal was over $60 before a tip, and should have been $40. I will not say do not eat there, for the food wasn't horrible, however we will not be eating there again. For that much money in Oneonta, I would expect a better meal. It would seem that others leaving reviews had complaints about the amount of rice that they were given as well, and this is a relatively small fix for the restaurant, if they wanted to correct this. read more

Great Thai food, their tofu is always cooked perfectly and the spring rolls are literally to die for. The spice factor is alway on par and it's great that you can customize it to your own liking. This is one of our favorite places in town for take out, the atmosphere inside is great too. read more

My husband is not a fan of Thai food so I was surprised when he suggested we go. He was pleasantly surprised. Although it was lunch we started with appetizers, the fish cakes and fried tofu. Both were served with a similar looking sauce although one has more vinegar and the other has red onion and cucumber diced into it. I wasn't a fan of the fried tofu as it has no flavor even after drizzling and then dunking the tofu in the vinegar peanut sauce. The fish cakes however are a stand alone delight similar to oden but with an unexpected kick. I especially enjoyed discovering the Thai basil layered within each bite. I found the dipping sauce none too flavorful too. We each ordered curry, green and panang. He wanted his green curry hot and he was happy how he sweated through the meal. My panang came just right with the heat turned down with just enough coconut milk. Service was attentive and not overly so. read more

I always order delivery from here, but never actually sat down and ate. The food was great (I got the shrimp yellow curry) and it was delicious and spicy (I ordered a 2 from a 1-5, although i should have gotten a 3). The Thai iced tea was also really delicious (although It had way TOO much ice). The food was made really quick and the peanut sauce was so good! Now for the bad: *Small portions. The salad I got was probably about 8-10 pieces of lettuce, one tomato slice, and one cucumber slice. Lol. And the rice was small portioned as well. I got four pieces of shrimp (which is expected so its ok), but i didn't mind that. The Thai Iced Tea had too much ice in it. *Customer service. One of the owners seemed very annoyed...however she asked everyone else at different tables about their meals, expect for me. It was weird cause she'd deliberately avoid me. I don't want to think its because of something or she just forgot about me, but I didn't feel welcomed at all. The waitress was nice but not really attentive either, but she always got me more water if I ran out so that was nice of her. I would just order from there if i was ordering with a group ($15 minimum), but probably wouldn't go back. read more

An excellent meal, we visited for fathers day, mid afternoon, and shared the restaurant with 3 other tables. The decor is tasteful, not stuffy enough to be out of place in jeans, but worthy of a night on the town if that's what you want. The calamari was excellent, and I'll probably eat an entire order myself next time. Chicken satays were okay, but I was too busy enjoying the squid to spend much time there. I had Chicken Pad Thai, which was delicious, really very good. I cleaned my plate, which was surprising considering the generous portion. Others at our table had various curries, I tried the red, with a heat request of "3" it was fine for a taste but more thank would want for a bowl full. The taro root dessert was excellent, and complimented the meal nicely. The only off-flavor of the day was the Thai tea, which was to sweet for my taste. I have eaten here twice. Both take-out. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and the food quite tasty. I've had the eggplant basil with tofu, the panang curry, and the Thai spicy chicken wings, all quite delicious --- as good as any other Thai place I've eaten. My wife, daughter (16yo), and I stopped in Oneonta, NY on our way to Cooperstown, NY and stumbled upon Simply Thai on Yelp. We are so glad we did. This might be the best Thai food we have ever eaten. We each ordered someing different for dinner, but started with a steamed dumpling appetizer, which was delecious with a great sweet dipping sauce. I ordered the Pad See Ew with Seafood Combination as the protein. The fresh wide rice noodles and the sweet soy sauce were amazing. I ordered a hotness level 3 and it left my nose running and lips tingling, but it was so full of flavor. My wife ordered the Drunken Noodles with pork as the protien and a hotness level 2 and had similar comments about how good the pork and flavor were. Our daughter ordered the Pad Thai with pork, and while she loved it, the portion was so large that it looked like she didn't eat much of it. All in all, the service was great, the food was awesome, and if you are ever in Oneonta, New York please check out this restaurant and eat local. The food was so good. read more

Not Quite 3 stars, but certainly a big improvement over the eatery in the same location that attempted Thai Food...They use Chinese broccoli for the Pad See Ew whereas some Thai places that are often in locales such as Oneonta (i.e. those without much of an Asian population) use western broccoli...They don't offer too many dishes beyond the basics either.....But, bottom line, if you live around here, and you're not aThai Food snob, it is something that you can settle for and feel ok read more

Went on a Monday because the restaurant we usually go to is closed. We were glad we did. Service was solicitous and quick. Food was fresh and delicious. Price was good for the quality of food. I had the fried eggplant- and it was tender and perfectly crisp (really shows the chef's skill) with spinach (clearly fresh) and a nice peanut sauce with a tiny bit of heat. My son had the Pad Thai and would have licked his plate if we let him. My partner had the Thai Basil and he said it was a note perfect take on a classic Thai dish. I moved to Oneonta a year ago. I am a big fan of nice, fast service. Oneonta is a very small town with very few options for anything other than typical pub food. I am a frequent visitor for Simply Thai and order takeout. They are always fast and the food is good. In the over 80 times I have been there, I only had one bad experience. The owner and chef both apologized and made up for it by comping my meal. I have eaten Thai in many cities around the world. This isn't the best Thai place in the world, but it is super for Oneonta and for this region. The food is good, delivered fast with a smile, and the price is right. read more
