Whether it's 8pm or 1am, Simply WOW has some damn good sandwiches. These are not a basic slice of cheese between bread, nope nope nope, instead they have some amazing flavor profiles. Every bite was not only crunch with butter slabbed a plenty with extra cheese and protein in every bit of the sandwich. Ordering from their menu is super easy and they have a few picnic tables outside for you to enjoy your meal while it's piping hot. TBH that is the perfect way to enjoy it to fully savor the sandwich. I felt pricing was very fair considering the economics we currently live in and also the convenience of not waiting much longer than five minutes to get my order lol. This place was my daughter's chosen destination for her birthday. She is picky but loves their grilled cheese more than anything. We made the special trip, even in the pouring rain, over all other choices she had. I had to wait and let her order, waiting in the car. I realized I haven't taught her how to watch out how her order is taken and any major discrepancies like price. She ordered her favorite, and although I wasn't there, I know she would never order the extras or approve of them. She paid proudly as she works hard at the grocery store, even with her autism spectrum challenges. I had no idea at the time why the price she paid was so high. We got home and the sandwich had onions and avocado, I believe all the paid extras available for it. She would have nothing to do with it, although I tried as I always do. It was a rainy slow night and I am sure an automatic upgrade would help with money. But it will backfire in this case, as her birthday dream meal was ruined, I had to make her something else, and knowing her, she will not wish to return. She left me with the sandwich, and from my perspective the cheese was of the cheap variety, and the bread's heavy greasiness rendered it kind of a gut bomb. It's hard to find a time this truck is open, since they mostly cater to late-night partiers, and that's no longer me. I took a good guess they'd be open in the afternoon during SXSW, and guessed right. For a busy afternoon, their service was quick and flawless. However, at this price, it had better be. One sandwich was $12 after tip. Years ago I remember loving their Hawaiian Sandwich and wanted to try it again. It was pretty good but not quite as good as the sandwich I put on a pedestal in my memory. It could have used more pineapple. After a night on the town, this place didn't disappoint! Amongst the several food truck options, we chose these guys. Menu is very straightforward (grilled cheese & crepes). We didn't try the latter, but the grilled cheese & mac-n-cheese sandwiches were fast, crisp & tasty on thick cut Texas Toast. Can't ask for much more at 2 am! I mean, it wasn't ah-mah-zing, but edible & quick (c'mon, this food is made to serve a single purpose- soak up some of the alcohol in your stomach so you can sober up enough to get home safe)... and it does that job. The house specialty is macaroni and cheese with bacon served inside a grilled cheese sandwich. If you need six hundred thousand million billion carbs, you have come to the right place. Bland white bread with bland white cheese and bland white macaroni with more bland white cheese. The bacon helps a little. But the whole thing is like a long and dreary sermon that goes on for an hour. The bacon is the joke the pastor tells at the fifteen minute mark to lighten up the delivery. I got off a long shift at work yesterday and wanted to order something simple like a sandwich and found this place on Ubereats... I was surprised they were still open! I got the grilled cheese (cheddar and Swiss, but they even gave me the mozzarella on the side!) and tomato basil soup.... OMG IT WAS INCREDIBLE. So cheesy and the soup was perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of creamy. Idk who was working Wednesday night around 1145 but they all need a raise cos color me impressed.
