Checked out Dee Dee at their new Leona location and was super happy with the quality of the food! If you like spice, there are a ton of options to add a lot of thai eye chili peppers. Aside from that the salads are incredibly fresh and tasty and the tofu stir fry is very flavorful

3.5/5 for the pad ka-pow and 5/5 for pork skewers (moo-ping) and fried chicken. I thought the pad ka pow was missing a little sweetness so it was lacking that umami flavor. The dish was fragrant though. I would definitely get their pork skewers again. They were tender, sweet and savory. The fried chicken tasted like a Thai version of Taiwanese popcorn chicken. I love where this place is located (inside a beautiful botanical garden) with a cafe and another taco spot. It is dog friendly as well and the cafe also has fans outdoor. It felt very nice during and after the sunset!

Price is up and it's justified. They moved from the previous food truck park to this plaza and it's nicer. Green curry: so flavorful Fermented papaya salad: hands down the best you can find in austin. Very authentic. They didn't tune down a bit for the American market. Stirred fried tofu: very good, nothing outstanding like the papaya salad though

o Definitively some of the best Thai food in Austin (from someone who very much likes Thai food). The setting is above and beyond lovely, despite the parking as everyone says. Once you order at the window, the food was ready relatively quickly. We ordered a variety of items, including the papaya salad and each of us were very happy with our mains of Tofu Stir-fry, Roasted Chicken in Thai Marinade, and Street Noodles. The flavors are very tasty, and the food seems to be high quality. I am looking forward to returning to try their other dishes.

I was so excited to try out Dee Dee's at Leona. I had heard how great and authentic their food is. Also I just love their story of how they came to be and the labor and love they put into their dishes. Also jackpot on location at Leona! For 3 of us we shared... PadKaPow $17 Extra Side of Chili Fish Sauce 75 cents Roasted Chicken with Sticky Rice $17 Pork Dumplings $10 Everything was beyond flavorful and scrumptious. I would order it all again! The dumplings were my favorite. The sauce it comes with and crispies are so freaking good!!! Can't wait to come back and try more menu items!

Dee Dee is now located in a gorgeous third place where there are other bites available and a coffee/drinks place. A perfect spot to catch up with friends and also to be productive! Our favorite dish was the Pad Ka Pow, which was flavorful and delicious. I loved all the components of the dish and it went well with the rice. The Thai fried chicken was also delicious! I loved the sauce that it came with. Perfect amount of spice! The dumplings were the only miss, which I felt could be more flavorful, but were decent. Overall highly recommend the food especially for the value and the space it is located in.

It was a disappointing experience in Dee Dee. The location itself is gorgeous. They have a beautiful garden area that has river and is surrounded by other food trucks. It looks very nice at night. I have ordered pad kapow which costs $17. My egg was 50% overcooked and on the smaller side. The pork was dry and a bit bland. It was also unevenly seasoned with salt. Jasmine rice and what I believe is basil tasted quite good though, but the whole dish itself was incredibly dry. We arrived an hour before closing on Friday night and there was no line, food was ready in like 5 minutes. Service could have been warmer too.

This place is great! They moved from Radio over to the new botanical style Leona off Brodie. It's a really cool space with plenty of room to relax. Dee Dee serves up some fantastic Thai comfort food. My go to is the Pad KaPow which is comprised of a spicy minced pork, with a fried egg, & basil over rice.

Dee Dee's new location is on Brodie at Leona Cafe, it's a stunning setting! They are now open for lunch and dinner. We ordered online ahead of arriving in case there was a wait but it ended up not taking very long fortunately. The parking at leona is pretty limited so I would come during an off hour. The food is good. I enjoyed the pad kaprow and the fried chicken as well as the dessert. They do have more of a limited menu during lunch hours, so I will need to come back during dinner to try more of their items.

I can't believe I've never written a review for Dee Dee! They now have a physical location in the really cute park that just opened with Leona's and Veracruz. I really enjoyed Dee Dee when they were just a food truck. They have really good and authentic Thai food, and they have a even larger menu now! I thoroughly enjoyed their KaProw and pork dumplings. I also vaguely remember loving their Thai Tea at their food truck, but I didn't see it on their menu at this location.

Dee Dee Austin at Feona is such a gem! Dogs are welcome, and the staff is super friendly--instant good vibes the second you walk in. The fried chicken sticky rice? WOW. The chicken is perfectly crispy, the sticky rice is rich and comforting, and together it's basically a little bite of heaven. I tried to just have a few bites...spoiler: the plate was gone before I knew it. And the dumplings oh my gosh. Soft, flavorful, and so addictive I was already planning my next visit while chewing the last bite. Cozy, charming, and full of flavor, Dee Dee Austin is one of those spots that makes you happy you left the house. Come hungry, bring your dog, enjoy the friendly staff, and leave thinking about that fried chicken sticky rice for days. Highly recommend!

Dee Dee has been my go-to Thai spot for years, and even though I have to fly from LA to have it, it's absolutely worth it every single time. Now that they've found a permanent home at Leona Botanical Café & Bar in Sunset Valley, it feels like a full-circle moment. The expanded menu is incredible while keeping all the favorites that made Dee Dee an Austin staple. My go-to will always be the Pad KaPow. Spicy, savory perfection. I told a friend recently that this dish is Austin to me, and it's the reason I keep coming back. Still the best anywhere. We also tried a few new items this visit: - Thai Fried Chicken: beautifully tender and seasoned, with that perfect balance of Thai chili hot honey and pickled lemongrass. It just hits right. - Pork Dumplings: juicy, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the house-made soy sauce. A solid addition to the lineup. And of course, no trip is complete without their Papaya Salad, my wife's favorite anywhere. The team always packs it perfectly for my flight back to LA because if I come home without it, it's considered a failed trip. Justin and Lakana are such incredible people, and seeing them finally have their own brick and mortar after years of hard work is so inspiring. The new space at Leona is beautiful, spacious, and feels like the perfect home for Dee Dee. If you've loved the food truck, you're going to fall in love all over again here.

Tasty casual location! Make sure to preorder ahead of time. I ordered around noon for a 7pm pickup, and I got a text a few minutes before pickup time that my food was ready! Pad KaPow: reading the reviews and the "very spicy" caption on the menu cautioned me to order the mild version. I thought it could've been more spicy to be honest, so maybe should've stuck to the original. But it was delicious, flavorful, and a unique dish! I liked the combination of the basil and minced pork, which packed a flavorful punch. Gaeng Daeng (Red Curry): what a generous portion! We were worried it would not come with rice, but there was a fat portion packed separately with it. The curry was a manageable spice with lots of squash. Wish they had more meat in it though! Mango sticky rice: Generous potion of mango on top of the deliciously sweet rice. This was my favorite dish, even as a savory person. I like how the rice was not too sweet, and they did not skimp on fruit.

After landing in San Antonio yesterday to kick off my summer vacation, the very first thing I did…read moretoday was ask my friend to bring me back to this restaurant. The reason is simple: we ate here two years ago, and it left such a great impression on us that we had been looking forward to coming back ever since. Fortunately, not much has changed in terms of either the quality or the overall presentation of the food. Everything is still delicious, especially the Pho Combo. To be honest, it's far better than most of the pho we've had in Germany. That doesn't mean the pho in Germany is bad--it simply means this place matches my personal taste much better. As for the downsides, they're almost exactly the same as before. Parking is still a major challenge, and I understand that's probably not something the restaurant can easily fix. We also tried calling ahead to reserve a table, but they don't take reservations, whether you're coming with a group of 5-7 people or just 2-3 people. We arrived at 6:45 PM and still had to wait about 40 minutes before being seated, which was honestly quite inconvenient. Coincidentally, there was live music tonight, which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the sound system wasn't very good, so it was difficult to hear what the singers were performing. Then again, this isn't really the type of venue where people come specifically to enjoy live music, so most diners didn't seem to pay much attention to it. One thing I did notice was that either the kitchen has made a few changes over the past two years, or perhaps my own taste has changed a little. The food felt slightly saltier than I remembered, and the pho broth was richer and creamier. While that added some depth of flavor, it was a bit too rich for my liking, to the point where finishing the entire bowl of broth felt a little overwhelming. The braised short ribs were incredibly tender--so tender that a knife was almost unnecessary, and they could easily be pulled apart with just a fork. While many people would probably see that as a positive, I actually missed the slightly firmer, meatier texture I remembered from my last visit. That said, these are relatively minor issues. The quality may have dipped just a little compared to our previous visit, but this is still an excellent restaurant. If they can fine-tune those small details, it would easily return to being one of my favorite places. There's a good chance we'll stop by one more time before heading back to Germany.

Is it that time of year for another 1618 update? Absolutely…read more After my umpteenth visit, I think it's safe to say I've worked my way through almost the entire menu (minus a few noodle, chicken & vegetarian dishes). My 2025 review still stands, but after so many visits, I've noticed a few items haven't been good as they used to, particularly the chicken wings (and yes, all three of them). The Garlic Wings haven't been hitting quite the same. They've started to taste a little dry, and the saucier wings taste better the next day since they don't have time to steep through once served. The Filet Mignon Pepper Steak is still my favorite dish on the menu, but I still can't justify ordering it family-style anymore. It's delicious, but the portion just doesn't match the price. One of the newest additions--the Truffle Fried Rice is spectacular. It's light, not overpowering with truffle, and the fish eggs really adds the perfect little pop of texture/flavor. I don't think I breathed the entire time I scarfed it down!! 1618 is still one of my favorite restaurants in Austin of all time, but I think it's time for the menu to elevate a bit and dive deeper into less mainstream Asian cuisine. If anyone can do it, 1618 can.

Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.
