Holy smokes! When you hear chicken lollipop, you might think delicious, not too spicy, nice little bite. Well let me tell you! These wings were absolutely delicious, filling, and spicier than expected (and I love a spicy food). My friend and I both got the 5 piece buffalo and woowee! The spice on those guys. So delicious, but I do recommend a normal or garlic fry/tot to go with it. While the dry rub starch sides are delicious, they will have you crying if you mix it with the buffalo wing. They will text you when it's done which is nice but my frustration was 3 part. 1- it was extremely expensive. Like $45 for 10 wings, tots and fries. Whaaatt!? Yep it's $16 for 5 regular sized wings, $6ish for fries and $7ish for tots. 2- the starting price for a tip was 18%. I am all about tipping but I can't order at the window since it's app only, have to go back and pick up myself so why expect the same tip I would give a sit down waitress? Literally only words they spoke to me were "here you go" when picking up my food. 3- the $6 fries? Half basket. Like they put my fries and tots in a shared basket because the serving was so small. I heard about this place on IG, that's where my research always begins. Thought I would try them out today since I was out and about. Turned my GPS on and drove downtown. It's lit up with a string of lights across the whole area. I wasn't there at night, but I'm sure it's pretty. I spot the food truck Tommy Wants Wingy. And I see their menu. And decide on what wings I want. The gentleman tells me that they are online only. So I scanned their QR code and place my order. When my order was done, I got a text. I ordered the garlic tots. The crunch was perfect. The flavor of garlic was great, but I think it's mixed with salt, and the salt was too much for me. I ordered a side of ranch, which was $1.00 charge. I got the ranch for the tots. The tots were delicious even though. Now the wings. I got the spicy pineapple wings and they came with a sweet sauce on the side for dipping. Wings are big, and tasty, they're spicy, but not make your nose run spicy. They are juicy, and filling. I enjoyed the wings and the sweet sauce. It was a nice compliment of sweet and spicy. Possibly one of the most overrated wing spots in Austin. Tommy had some glory days where the wings were something you've never tasted. Now they are sauceless, bland, boring and overpriced. Nothing special truly. I want to also note: This place is delicious... the sauce is great and the lollipop wings are perfect. Their quality has just gone down significantly in the past few years and I've had several bad experiences especially at this location. I would have rated a 5/5 about 3 years ago. The price also plays a really big factor. The wings are on average $2.25 each. I guarantee you can get better wings for less than half the price from the frozen section at any grocery store. This spot is Trailer serving chicken wing lollipops and boneless tenders on the Cosmic Coffee & Beer Garden lot. I was in town for business and a couple of my colleagues who live there, suggested that we go for lunch at the bbq truck and also get wings. We went on a Friday and it was a little rainy so it was a little slow, but the ability to sit outside was nice and most be an awesome place to come and hang out with your friends in the evening with little enclaves of seating and picnic tables around the property. They only really have those two options: bone-in and boneless. However they have a good variety of flavors to make those two bases different. Those 9 sauces/dry rubs are ranked on a scale from "not hot" to "extreme." We ended up with 3 different flavors so we could all try a variety. We had the ranch on fire which is the third from spiciest on their scale. It is a dry rub. We also had the spicy pineapple which is a sauced wing which is number 4 on the spicy scale. It is a siracha based sauce with pineapple. We also had the chile limon which is third from the bottom being not spicy. This one was also a dry rub with fresh lime juice and tajin. I preferred the dry rub wings better than the sauced wings in this venue. it also makes a lot of sense, because sauced wings are very messy and it's easier to eat the dry rubbed at a picnic table outdoors. I liked all three varieties. My favorite was the chile limon. It had a lot of flavor and the super crispness of the chicken lollipops really was showcased. The seasoned fries were so good. Crispy and had tons of flavor from the seasoning. Totally delicious. Warning!! Flies were aggressive! We had a very hard time shielding our food from them. Holy cow these were great wings. I got the garlic Parmesan with ranch sauce and it was crispy, flavorful, and good quality meat with no weird sinew or anything that is typically the case with dark meat. Overall absolutely awesome, and with a beer from the brewery next to the truck it was perfect. But, I was pleasantly surprised to see them parked out front of Cosmic! Really solid Buffalo wings. The garlic parmesan wings were good, but forgettable. Fries were good but, also forgettable.
