She treated me like I would have treated one of my customers. It's mostly not who's right or wrong. It's what's the best solution. I'm very new to welding and because of where I live it's hard to get into a store dedicated to it. I've been around Newport recently because of family. I needed to kill some time one morning so I looked up nearby welding shops. Sims-orange was the first to pop up so I decided to go check it out. Google maps gave me good directions to the store. Went inside and was greeted by Connie. She was very welcoming and showed me all they had on display. I knew if I was going to buy anything it would be some PPE. Connie showed me which equipment was best for the different processes and a lot of other information about schooling and starting out in the field too. I ended up getting a hood, jacket, gloves, and a welding hammer and brush for slag. The display area is pretty small, but it's packed with all the essentials. If you don't see what you're looking for be sure to ask because they might have it in the back. I can't say a whole lot about pricing since I've been to very few shops. The gear I got was of good quality and the pricing seemed reasonable to me. If you're looking for the cheapest prices you might do better elsewhere, but the quality and customer service more than makes up the few bucks you could have saved. Overall, if I lived in the area, this would be my first stop for welding supplies every time. Highly recommend it. read more

I stopped by sims-Orange this morning because I was wanting to buy a new helmet. They have a huge range of Miller, Lincoln and other brands of helmets, all ON DISPLAY, which is great. Connie helped me, and she let me try on different helmets to find the one I liked best. They have a great range of consumables as well as other welding tools. Connie told me they can also fill bottles up to a certain size, while you wait. Finally found a great weld supply store in the area. read more

I went to Sims Orange Welding Supply to purchase an 8HP DeWalt double tank air compressor for my Drywall Company. I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. They had the product in stock so I purchased it rite on the spot. The staff helped me load it on my truck and I was on my way. The staff at Sims Orange was very knowledgeable and helpful. It's nice to find the product you need at a local retailer. This compressor was not available at Home Depot or Lowes and I would have had to order it online direct from the manufacture if I hadn't found it at Sims. They have a very nice show room with many tools available. I would highly recommend Sims Orange for all of you Welding and Tool needs. Have you ever needed someone to do you a solid? I called a couple supply places in the area and explained my predicament, Im a student and my auto insurance auto withdrawal pulled my bank account into negitve. I needed a replacement plastic lense for my Miller Digital elite welding hood (which they have a lot of accessories for btw). Connie took care of me and I was able to weld at school that week. I came back later that week, paid my balance and purchased some of their company shirts and other things I needed. Connie was super helpful and gave me a great deal on my consumables. read more

No customer service after the sale! I paid more to get it from this local shop. Once I purchased the unit it did not work. Sims gave zero effort in trying to get my unit fixed or replaced. I made an appointment to test the unit with there repair tech. I drove down there and they state he isn't available. I asked if they would reach out to miller for assistance and they never did. I ended up taking my machine to another miller authorized repair facility and with in days were able to Duplicate the problem and reached out to miller who gave them Authorization to replace the welder with a new one. Remind you I didn't buy it from this place yet they were willing to do more than Sims. read more

I was welcomed by a gentlemen who was friendly as soon as I entered and they started helping me right away. The customer service is really excellent! Connie helped me with everything I needed from start to finish. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions honestly. This place should be the ONLY place you think about getting any welding equipment from. My buddy and I came here with a list of things he needed. Originally we were going to look around ourselves but the employees there asked us what we needed and gathered everything on my friend's list for us. The employee, Jonah, told us about everything he needed and whether or not he recommended the pricier options, most popular items, etc. The place is pretty small but has it all. It's like an Auto-Zone for welders. All the cool stuff is behind the counter. They have a bunch of free food and beverages for customers, too. It's the only place I know of with a free popcorn machine. read more
