Over the course of six weeks, we saw such a positive transformation in our puppy, Moose. The group class was small and intimate, which made it easy for both of us to be involved in the training process. What we really appreciated is that Stephy wasn't just training our puppy she was also teaching us about puppy behavior, communication, and how to be better dog parents. I was about to buy the puppy classes but then I met the trainer Stephy/Stephanie and decided not to. In our first 30 minute convo she spoke for 20 mins. My second question to her was simply "are you the trainer who supervises indoor dog park" She told me no and then spoke for 10-15 minutes about the differences between her and the other trainer. She talks a lot about going to college for dog training and how other trainers are simply not as good as her. I would expect her to ask a little more questions so it felt like more of a consultation. I also felt like she didn't understand boundaries. She kept contacting me about vet records even though I explained it was a holiday. I mentioned that twice. Despite that she moved with her own urgency until I had to tell her there was no rush on our end. I also asked a question on another day and asked her to text or send a voice note. She did for a couple of exchanges but then called me anyway. And when I explained I couldn't absorb the info during a call she said "well I wanted to call you so you could learn about dogs" But she never asked me what training experience I had in the first place ‍‍‍ Anyways, not for me but the general concept is cool considering how hot it is.

There were a few problem behaviors we were able to work on right away. Jumping, sitting, and overall listening. AJ is extremely great with our dogs. They are excited to see her every session, and happy to work hard for her. AJ is not only a great dog trainer but also a teacher to us humans. She helped us learn the tools we needed for our dogs to be successful. After 8 sessions our dogs are doing great with door manners, a long stay, coming when called and more. She has taught us fun games that allow the dogs to use their noses to find scents, while also tiring them out. I recommend AJ to anyone in need of help with dogs who already are great, but have a few quirks to workout. And I highly recommend AJ to anyone with new pups in the house. There are not many Trainers (or businesses) that go above and beyond the need to "sincerely help" and yet is still a professional. ie: AJ has accompanied us on numerous Vet visits; suggested Doggie Daycare, plus accompanied us on Nala 1st visit and ensured Nala's transition into socializing with other dogs. When we signed up for the group lesson with Mike, I was worried about what would happen with all the other dogs! But he assured me to be there without rejecting her, knowing she'd act crazy! When we showed up, she was barking, lunging, and going crazy since we got off the car, and we couldn't go near at all!! This continued for maybe four sessions in. Then Mike grabbed her leash and corrected her. That's all it took! He showed us how to fix the situation and stay consistent at it. Look at the picture! This is her in STAY command, just relaxing on the trail. We can walk by other dogs without a hassle. It's a working progress, but this wouldn't have happened without his training. Mike is full of knowledge and experience. He taught us very simple yet valuable skills, and it's been going very well since our sessions ended.

Julie has been our trainer for obedience and e-collar, and she is truly amazing. She's extremely knowledgeable, explains everything in a way that's easy to understand, and always takes time during every class to work one-on-one with each dog and owner. You can tell she genuinely cares and wants every dog to succeed. She's also very down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and the dogs absolutely love her. Stormi is a husky, so she can definitely be stubborn and sometimes act like she doesn't understand English when she actually does. Julie really understands the breed (she has several huskies herself), which has made a huge difference. Since starting classes, Stormi's leash walking has improved the most, and she's listening to me so much better instead of barking back at me like she used to... as much. Huskies definitely still have opinions, but the improvement has been huge. I've also noticed a big boost in her confidence. So far we've completed E-Collar, Obedience 1, 2, and 3, and I'm already looking forward to continuing with Obedience 4 and eventually service dog training. One thing I really appreciate is how well Julie works with all kinds of dogs in the class. There have been reactive dogs, anxious dogs, and even deaf dogs, and she does an amazing job helping each one improve. It's really cool seeing every dog make progress week after week. I also started agility with Amanda, and that has been such a fun experience too. Agility has been an awesome bonding activity for Stormi and me, and Amanda does a great job keeping the classes engaging and supportive. I actually found Smarty Paws because I met someone at the dog park whose dog was incredibly well trained compared to Stomri, and they told me this is where they went.
