I've been working with Humberto and Terri for 4 months now and have nothing but good things to say about them. I rescued a two year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix and, after trying some other basic group training programs, I knew I needed professional help from someone who had experience with the breed. From the beginning they've been open, honest and extremely informative and they've always been willing to spend the extra time with me to ensure I was using the tools and techniques correctly during our sessions, as well as, putting a plan together for what I needed to work on in between visits. In a matter of four months, my dog went from being nervous, unfocused, and defiant with separation anxiety and mild toy aggression to being well-balanced, socialized and titled as an AKC Canine Good Citizen for obedience. In fact, I'm constantly getting compliments for how well-behaved he is when I take him out in public and am currently working towards his advanced obedience title. One thing I really liked about working with Humberto was his philosophy on how to train using both positive reinforcement for good behavior and correction to any unwanted behavior. Too many training programs will focus only on using positive feedback or only using correction. Humberto and Terri really stress the importance of having balance in the use of both methods. They focus heavily on working to build up a dog's confidence and trust through recognizing which methods will have the greatest impact while not going beyond each dog's individual limitations. Obviously, with any training, it takes time, patience and constant reinforcement to yield strong results. This is particularly true with dogs that come from unstable backgrounds or harsh environments. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the results over the last four months. Thought I knew what to expect when I got my boy Dax, a German Shepard Belgian Malinois mix, but I was in for a wake up call. Fast forward 2 years, I still didn't really have the greatest understanding nor the control I would've liked to have with my dog. Having never shown any signs of aggression, it completely worried me when Dax started barking and lunging at other dogs and people. I was recommended Las Vegas K9 Training from a friend and it was on the same day that I happened to have a situation where he lunged during a walk that I messaged them. They responded almost instantly. We scheduled a private session and I was just absolutely amazed by how Dax behaved with them and how confident they were that the issue was a fixable one. It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Both Humberto and Terri are incredible; their expertise in dog training and the ease that they both handle dogs is simply remarkable. In my private sessions they have taught me how to control Dax and what to do in certain situations. I'm still learning and eager to continue learning with them, but already my understanding and confidence in controlling my dog have gotten better. I wish that I had found Humberto and Terri from the get go but I'm happy to be working with them now. If I were to get another dog, I'd start working with them immediately, no second thoughts. My husband and I love Humberto and Terri's training methods. I am in the process of adopting a 2 year old pit bull named Star however I've been reluctant to complete the adoption process because I have golden retrievers and Star has been getting into fights with them. From the very Start, Terri and Humberto had Star following commands without a word spoken. They guided her with clicks and treats and she was sitting, staying and was very focused on what they wanted her to do and she became so very eager to please. We now have Star on an Ecollar and I must say Humberto is very very detailed in training not only the dog, but us, as owners. He went over everything forwards and backwards and even had us practice on him until he was very confident we knew what we were doing. Star was with one of our Golden's, as well as a couple of Humberto's dogs, without a single bit of aggression. I've just been amazed at the progress we've made in such a short time. Most importantly, he loves on our dog as if she was his own and it's more than apparent that Star, not only likes him very much, but she respects him. This man knows what he's doing and I'm confident in carrying out Stars adoption knowing I have such fantastic trainers as Humberto and Terri. Thank you so very much! tl;dr Humberto, Heidy, and Mikaela are dedicated and accommodating. They succeeded with training me and my dog under challenging circumstances. I selected Las Vegas K9 Training after finding a negative review here on Yelp! Heidy was careful to try and address the complainants issues and offer a generous resolution. It was their dedication to success and willingness to communicate that impressed me. Before placing my dog in the six week board and train I met with Humberto and Heidy to evaluate them, the facility, and ask for changes to the program. I was again impressed by their warmness and their willingness to accommodate my requests. During the boarding period my young puppy got sick. It was unrelated to boarding, just a symptom of a puppy with a young immune system. Humberto and Heidy were quick to inform me of the situation and took the puppy to the vet immediately. They also continued to medicate and bathe my puppy throughout the program. I come from the midwest, where dog trainers use a different training paradigm. Humberto's method was foreign to me and I struggled to adapt. Humberto was careful and patient with me and eventually I learned. My puppy is home, he is well trained, he has received his AKC Good Citizen ribbon. We are both very happy with Las Vegas K9 Training's service and cannot recommend them highly enough. Update from 4 months ago from my original review of Las Vegas K9 Training: 8/5/19 After we lost our pup Sascha to medical issues, we decided that we love and needed a dog in our lives. We adopted a GSD pup and chose to work with Humberto and Terri again. This time we did the 6wk training program. Our new pup came back with foundational tools to help him balance happiness and obedience. We cannot begin to say how thrilled we are with the amazing work that they did. Our pup wouldn't listen to us, ran away often from us in our yard, didn't give much affection and wanted to bite everything in sight. Upon his return, we got back our goofy pup, however, he now wants to be with us all the time, playful and doesn't bite and bark. Our pup now is our best friend and loves to play as well as train. We have never seen him so happy to be with us and listens to commands immediately. Balancing a GSD pup to be not only obedient but loving has blown us away. Look no further for fantastic training that encourages a true bond with your dog. OK I have been training with these guy's for about two years and i love them. If you want a trainer that is hands down the best in town this is your guy. There honest good people that run a great company. They have been training dog's for ever. I highly recommend these guy's for any of your dog's need's. I wish i would of started with them form the start with my two dog's . I strongly believe in you get what you pay for. These guy's are one of just a few that really do have a protection dog training license in town. some say they do but don't So do your home work on your trainer or company that you are looking at. Remember your going to leave your dog with these people if you do a board and train so im sure you want him or her in the best place for training which is here with las Vegas k-9 training. I've heard nightmare stories about having dogs trained. After our consultation/ evaluation with Humberto along with our  9 month old doberman I felt very comfortable with putting him in the 6 wk inboard training class. Humberto kept us informed weekly with videos of the training and progress. Our dog " Max" really liked him and responded well with Humberto and Mikayla. They explained the training and even taught my wife & I on keeping him obedient. Max came back well trained and still the same affectionate fun loving dog as before he left and not to mention much happier knowing he can just be a dog without being the pack leader.The staff at Las Vegas K9 training are very professional, and caring for these pets. The place for training in LV! After meeting other trainers in the valley I am so happy to have found Las Vegas K9 Training! They are responsive, have a great facility and are super knowledgeable. I have been getting private lessons with our dog to work on overall obedience as well as personal protection. Through these sessions Humberto has definitely improved my dog handling skills! It also has been super fun watching and learning as he trains our dog in the art of bitework. We also just started the CGC classes with Terri and Humberto and so far it is great! My wife and I have been taking our GSD, Max, to Humberto and Terri for training for the past couple of weeks. Humberto and Terri are very knowledgeable and compassionate in what they do. We have seen progression in Max's confidence and obedience just after a few sessions. Today, we completed a short session of bite work with Humberto and we can already see that Max is more confident in biting and working with Humberto. My dog was a 100 pound unmanageable psycho who jumped on every person I let in my house and barked uncontrollably at strangers. I'm so thankful for k9 training, they've done an outstanding job training my dog and training my dad and I on how to control him. Very thankful and highly recommend! I recently bought a personal protection dog from Las Vegas k9 training. And I'm very happy and pleased with him. I'm impressed at how highly trained he is! He is the sweetest dog ever, but goes into work mode as soon as you give an order. Humberto and Terri are the best trainers I've met! They really know what they're doing! And they love their job. Humberto and his team was the best to train our doberman puppy. We took her in for the 6 week advance obedience and she really came back a very different and well behaved dog.
