I pass this place every single day on my commute into work, and we sat it on FN's Triple D; and we've been eager to try it. I went here with my husband on Father's Day around 10am. Waited a few minutes and we were seated. I ordered an iced caramel coffee, and the breakfast quesadilla. The iced coffee was in a milkshake container with plenty of ice and it never melted. I tend to drink coffee slowly and iced coffee is usually lukewarm by the time I'm finished, not this time! Iced coffee until the last sip. The quesadilla was huge and the home fries were tasty. My husband ordered chocolate milk and the brotherly love omelet. Extremely fresh ingredients, delicious food, and great atmosphere. Might be top for late night food in bmore but that's only because there isn't anything open late night. Being from jersey this little diner has nothing on diners up north. I would come back again but wouldn't be my first choice. I feel like they went cheap on certain things. For example the onion rings look like they came from burger king. IMO still a solid 2 star establishment. For whatever reason as a Baltimorean I just cannot get the gist of this place. I guess because it's simply just a diner. A sit wherever you want, take 30 min to read over a monstrous amount of menu items and wait for a sketchy looking waiter to take your order and serve you mediocre food type of place. Disappointing after the hype from DDD show. The lady was rude and the spinach pie was burnt. Not all what was on the show. They had raised the prices and she said they were getting new menus in April. The crab cake sandwich was not bad fro $12.95, but they want $19.95 for crab cake and 2 sides. Sip and Bite is above average, but nothing to rant and rave about. I really appreciate that it's open all hours of the night (but not 24/7 as they advertise). The food is very good, but nothing sensational. It's almost always crowded unless your in there on an off hour on a weekday. The food is typical diner fare plus some Greek options. Their "specials" are always the same specials on repeat, which doesn't really make them special at all. I go back because it's not bad and it's a short walk from my apartment, but I wouldn't come from the other side of town. If you go in late at night when the bars in Fells close, expect this place to turn into complete anarchy. Good for people watching, bad for business. read more

Very very good crabcakes (we had ours fried and grilled), but also very expensive! The service is great, the food is tasty. I love the Greek portions of the menu - I got a Greek wrap and each of the ingredients was really fresh and tasty. The service here is great, and you can tell that each dish is carefully prepared. For the love of God...why would anyone eat here? Why is this place still open? I sat there amid what seemed like a plague pondering aloud "What the hell is with all these flies, is this sanitary?" To which one of the patrons behind me responded "If you think this is a lot, you should have seen it earlier." Seriously? My ex boyfriend brought me here. Everywhere else in Baltimore that he ever showed me amazed me. So did this place, but not in a good way. I ordered a Western omelette. The ham was rancid. No lie. The eggs were burnt. I couldn't eat any of it. The hash browns looked fine, but when I tried to eat them a fly landed directly in the middle of them. The coffee is served out of a plastic water pitcher. Everything is nicotine stained. It's just gross. I don't care how late it's open because no matter how drunk you get, this place is still awful. read more

Really disappointing... we were excited to try this place after seeing it on DDD. BIG MISTAKE. The food was fine, nothing great, but fine, but the service was horrendous!! The owner, Sofia served us, and didn't even look us in the eye when we ordered, got our order wrong, didn't stop by the table to see how we were doing, never refilled drinks, and only was animated when the people at the next table asked her about being on DDD. She stood for 10 minutes chatting like she had all day. She must've known that she had offered us crapola service when she didn't bother adding up the bill, just told us we owed her $20 (which was far less than what we actually owed). The restaurant was full, but there was no wait to get in, so it should be manageable. The issue I think, besides the poor attitude, was that the waitresses were also busing tables, working the register, and prepping some of the food. I'm sure this was a good neighborhood joint that has gained some popularity because of the show, and might be overwhelmed. I was underwhelmed. read more

After seeing Sip & Bite on DDD I had to try it. The lamb gyros are to die for. The spanakopita was a little soggy on the bottom and was heavily seasoned with dill. The Greek salad and the crab soup were delightful as well. The service was fast but you did not feel rushed. Will definitely return when I am craving a gyro. read more

Best crab cakes ever in my Crab Benedict at this cute little old corner diner. My wife's traditional Greek Chicken Lemon Orzo soup was hot and delicious, again, the best we've had. The Spartan Platter was heaped with fresh Greek salad, warm, soft pita, hot fries, and flavorful, delicious chicken souvlakia. The food arrived quickly & was amazing, but our server, Gloria, was even better: friendly, attentive and very familiar with the extensive menu. I came here once with some friends for a 3 AM meal, and while the food here wasn't bad it wasn't as spectacular as some people have made it out to be. A total diner that I initially did not like much when I went late night - but today I had the eggs athena and they were absolutely amazing! The feta and spinach just goes so well with the eggs benedict, I definitely recommend it! My fiancé and I came here after seeing the crab cakes on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives as well... And we were certainly disappointed. Parking was difficult to find, (but that was sort of expected). There were at least 10 flies in the (very small) restaurant, and 3 in the tiny, tiny bathroom (which was definitely gross). The place was just dirty. So that's the environment portion of this review.. As for the food (we both got the crab cake platter), the crab cakes were very big and filling. They were good, but not spectacular, and had a little too much mayonnaise and not enough seasoning or old bay for my taste. The lettuce on the side was wilted, the rice pilaf was half-heated and definitely not made from scratch (think Rice-a-Roni boxed rice), the cole slaw was bland but not gross, and the macaroni salad was disgusting. The fact that actual crab cakes themselves were good, large, and had semi-big pieces, is the only reason why this gets two stars instead of one. read more

As a Baltimore native, these are hands-down the best, fluffiest pancakes in the area (Miss Shirley's has nothing on Sip and Bite). This place is always my go-to​ because there's​ something for everyone! The prices are super reasonable and the servers are so friendly...overall a great atmosphere and even better food! The only thing I have been disappointed by was​ the chicken fingers - would steer clear of these - they sadly looked like an unappetizing frozen chicken patty cut into strips. I was craving breakfast for dinner and my husband had seen the advertisement for the crab cake endorsed by Guy Fieri, which seemed like something he had to try. We went on a Friday evening and were seated immediately with friendly service. The service remained a highlight of the visit - our waitress was prompt and helpful. The chocolate chip pancakes, eggs and bacon hit the spot and while unsurprising were what we would have expected. The crab cake was acceptable, but there are certainly better crab cakes in Baltimore (e.g. Jack's Bistro, Della Notte). But it did have real lump crab meat. Plus it is probably impossible to beat the value for the food we ordered. This is a great place to go for quick, inexpensive food that is probably exactly what you'd expect from a diner. read more

When Baltimore still had the Duck Tour, a friend excitedly told me her tour guide called it a "Baltimore institution." Indeed, that's a good description for this quintessential Charm City diner. It's the best (well, really the only) diner food within walking distance Fells, Canton, Butcher's Hill and Patterson Park. I always order either Greek food or breakfast and it's always a good choice. Don't blame me if you order something different and it makes your stomach hurt. Seriously though, Sip & Bite offers good prices and quick and friendly service. They take credit cards but you cannot leave your server a tip on the card so make sure you bring some cash for that. read more

I wish I could have given this place a zero. The customer service is TERRIBLE!!! The older lady with the red hair was the RUDEST SERVER I have ever met in my life. I walked in to place a carryout order after standing there for almost 15 minutes. She checked out two men in front of me and when it was my turn she walked away from the register without saying a word. I walked over to her to let her know I was going to place an order and she told me "that's not my priority right now." Went there after seeing them on Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I ordered two meals to go. The cheeseburger was very good A+ and tasted like one you might cook at home. I added fries for a dollar, but they were were awful. Tasted like they were cooked from frozen and barely cooked at that (tasteless, soft and mushy). After tasting a couple, I threw the fries away. The crab cakes were fairly large and good, not great, and they didn't place my two sides in the bag. I would go back for the cheeseburger, which was inexpensive and good, but not the crab cakes as Faidleys are better. Cheeseburger was less than $5, crab cake dinner (or in my case just crab cakes, LOL!!) was about $20, which isn't bad for crab cakes. They do have low prices and a large menu, so if I go back I'll get the cheeseburger and maybe try something else. read more

Cool spot! When u have a late night craving or need a go to place to stuff your face after the club is closed. The food was decent and any place that serves breakfast anytime of the day is a great place to eat. All in all good food nice people and the best rustic cash register I have ever seen. Back home in Montreal, our distinct collective culture has bypassed the traditional US/Maine/PA etc style diner in favor of a more "elaborate" concept whereby working-class locals scarf down the product of a culinary hybrid made up of slightly modified mediterranean street specialties, entry-level Italian fare and of course northeast fast food such as poutine, baked subs, "pogos" or montreal-style steamed hot-dogs. This beloved and jealously-guarded mess is euphemistically referred to as "Cuisine Canadienne", and you'll not find anything like it elsewhere on the continent. Our Greek community, populist culinary entrepreneurs par excellence, have been almost singlehandedly responsible for the proliferation of that phenomenon for the past fifty years, and as such serve as a kind of last stand against insidious gentrification forces which tend to turn mom-and-pop greasy spoons into microbreweries, tapas joints, organic bakeries and "diners" frequented by droves of with-it kids and artists looking for their own ironic, recycled take on common folk habits. Whatever happens though, you can trust certain establishments to remain standing amidst contradictory forces of neighborhood mutation. Which leads me to ol' Sip & Bite, a reliable lynchpin of immoveable, undeterred mid-atlantic culinary spirit, also seemingly run( or having been run ) by members of Baltimore's own Greek community. Hence, what works back home seems to operate in this spot, in that the transformative currents at work in the Inner harbor and neighboring areas have by and large avoided messing with this local institution, beyond understandable attempts at having to appeal to the area's new residents. In every corner of the US, fine establishments such as this one are having to cope with the conflicting demands of history and "menu integrity" on the one hand, and the realities of changing demographics and cultural landscapes on the other. I have to say, for having witnessed many a previously cherished spot go down the tubes, Sip & Bite pulls off a remarkable feat of balance, and that's why I'll keep returning on and on for the best scrapple in the Mid-atlantic. Who knows ? Maybe it'll eventually surrender and turn into a meekly shade of its former self, but all clues compel me to bet against the latter occuring anytime soon. read more

The Sip & Bite is the best diner in downtown Baltimore. After growing up in New Jersey where 24/7 diner's are much more prevalent, this one really makes me reminisce of those late nights or early mornings. Aside from the great old school diner feel, the food is on point. I've become a breakfast/ brunch regular on the weekends and typically order the omelette of the day. I've become fond of the spinach, feta and sausage omelette and the Greek omelette. I just recently tried the french toast, which was perfectly moist and dusted with powdered sugar. Finally, it's a family run business that makes you feel welcome through out your stay. What's better than that when you're going to an authentic diner? read more

After seeing this diner on the Food Network I decided to give it a try. Food was okay. Service was horrible! and for that reason I will never go back. Plates were tossed on the table. No matter how often I said 'thank you' I never heard 'you're welcome'. Not once did the waitress return to determine if the meal was to our satisfaction, or if we needed anything additional.
