Chicken salad on sourdough
Claudia C.

I spent a lovely Saturday working on my laptop in the afternoon at Sip Java. The atmosphere is friendly and chill, with a steady flow of customers but never an overwhelming line. I ordered an iced coffee (good flavor, though I wish they offered extra ice or kept some chilled nearby mine melted pretty quickly after the hot pourover) and the chicken salad on toasted sourdough. As someone allergic to dairy, I appreciated the many menu options, and the sandwich was delicious, a great dupe for Cheese Course! I just wish there had been a bit more heaped on for the $9 price point. The staff were genuinely kind, polite, and hustling nonstop; both the cashier and the server were friendly and upbeat. My absolute favorite part? So. Many. Dogs. Every few minutes another adorable, well-behaved pup strolled by. heaven!!The space is clean and cozy, though the bathroom (while tidy and midrenovation with cute paint swatches) was out of soap that day. One downside: no air conditioning. The open doors and cross breeze helped in early October, but I can't imagine it in peak summer. There's plenty of outdoor seating, great energy, and a clear sense of community. I'll definitely be back. hopefully next time to see that "New A.C." tip jar fully funded!

Coffee is a beautiful color and flavor!!

Delicious coffee. Breakfast sandwiches freshly made. Sweet girls taking our orders & taking time with us as well. Cozy couch/table space on all sides of this place. Smaller ordering area with a very busy look, but thats the least of it. This place is delicious!!!!! Easy yes! Iced Late - outstanding color & flavor Red Eye Latte - delicious Butter Croissant - fresh Egg croissant sandwich - perfect Bagel egg cheese sausage sandwich - delicious Nutella Croissants - outsanding

I'm so glad I live near this coffee shop! Both the coffee and food are really good. I usually order the Good Karma and I've tried various pastries which are tasty. The decor is cozy and they also have plenty of outdoor seating options. It can get busy sometimes but I've never had to wait too long for my coffee. Definitely worth checking out.

Charge me $6 dollars for a bacon and egg and gave me a half a piece of bacon. On each side of the sandwich. Are they serious??

So let me start off by saying- I used to LOVE this place. I used to eat here every weekend as well as any other time I got a craving for one of their yummy sandwiches or baked goods. But like most things in Lauderdale once they become mainstream things slowly but surely change for the worse. Food, though the quality remains about the same, every month they're changing the prices. I'll just leave it on the note businesses of all forms in Lauderdale have changed so much. It's become more like Subpar Miami everyday - Give as little as possible to the customer while squeezing out as much profit as possible. Service- They used to be soooo friendly here which left you with that neighborhood spot feel. Now they just seem to go through the motions. Ambiance- well it is set up like a regular cafe. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It always saddens me when one of my favorites changes. But such is the cycle of businesses I guess. They either retain what made them special in the first place or they decide that profit is most important. One strategy retains loyal customers and the other does not. Thank you for the many years of good food and service! You will be missed!

Good coffee spot in downtown! I always get the turkey empanadas or the lox. Always friendly and quick. Seating inside and outside!

Best coffee shop in Fort Lauderdale hands down! They have the best lattes and matcha I've ever had! The service is amazing! The staff is great, always greeting you with a smile. The cafe is always spotless and well organized! I go here almost 5 times and week! Don't walk, run here!

Loved this little spot! Super busy but I absolutely loved it! Not pictured were the sandwiches and the empanada. So good! They were so nice and its so cute inside! Would come again!

Easy parking, nice service, but the food we've ordered were little dry.

The people who work here are so rude and unfriendly that I don't care how good the coffee or anything else is. Not coming back.

There is usually at least a 20 minute wait because it's hugely popular! Outside, r huge Connect Four & Jenga games to play while waiting! The food is definitely worth the wait with an extensive menu to please any palate! I've had the cinnamon french toast & the country breakfast skillet, replacing the pork items with turkey bacon! I love when brunch restaurants offer alternatives to bacon/sausage! Their hot chocolate is tasty as well! Hatch lost a star, due to having a loose dress code. The last time I was there, some customers were practically naked. I can understand someone wearing a bikini with a see through cover-up, if ur at a beach-side restaurant. Hatch is not on the beach. Also, do u really want to sit down on a chair where someone's literal butt cheeks were just touching? Sorry, not sorry. Men keep ur shirts on & underwear covered. Women, keep ur chests within ur blouse & keep those bottoms covered. We don't need to see them. Save it for the beach or pool!

You're forced to pay for poor service, and in this case service the curly-haired young man, was very poor. The food itself was good, nothing wowing, but expectations met, and that alone is appreciated Try the hash, the Hubby enjoyed. I asked for my coffee to be EXTRA hot, it came out lukewarm, and that's bc it sat on the counter waiting for our server to bring it to us. He was no where to be found to voice my concern. We had to ask for several things a few times, and we never received refills on water. I asked to keep a menu to order an extra drink or cocktail but was never able to bc the server was no where to be found! He never came by to ask how we were, but he spent at least 7 minutes chitchatting with the table behind us stating how he "remembers them", and will try to "remember your orders for next time bc you come here a lot". Imagine if he offered services like that to ALL the guest? Well, enough was enough, and I was ready to leave. Guess who appeared with the bill and WOULD NOT LEAVE OUR TABLE-SIDE bc he was seriously focused on the amount of the "extra" tip my Hubby was going to leave. He didn't bother to clear any of the dirty dishes from our table, and never asked about ordering anything else even after picking up the menu I'd asked him to leave earlier. He was focused on my Hubby completing the payment. That's when I spoke up and said looking directly at the server, "a gratuity is automatically included, so do not leave an extra tip bc the service did not deserve the gratuity he's already getting". The young man looked at me shocked but didn't say anything. The food was okay but the service reduced any possible of a better rating.

The line was insanely long, but we got lucky and snagged seats at the bar as soon as a group left. I ordered the applewood bacon with poached eggs, and it was a solid 10/10--very filling, packed with flavor, and beautifully presented. My friends ordered the hash and omelet, and we also shared the dulce de leche pancakes. Everything was delicious. The beautiful waterfront views made the experience even better. My only advice is to come prepared for a wait, because this place is clearly popular for a reason!

As titanium Marriott bonvoy members, we received a breakfast voucher each morning of our stay, which is good for your choice of coffee or orange juice and an entree from a select menu (see pics). I found the select menu to have many great options. I had the "smothered burrito" which was huge and delicious and did not have any beans. The "traditional eggs Benedict" was typical and came with a large portion of their potatoes- yum. The "huevos rancheros" was great too but I wished it had those potatoes. My husband had the "applewood bacon and poached egg avocado toast" twice because it was so good. We ordered two additional eggs sunny to go with it, as that dish only had one poached egg. He also got the "two eggs your way" which comes with choice of protein, potatoes and two slices of sourdough toast w butter (no jam). He ordered bacon egg and cheese taco with that dish to maximize his protein intake. That was tasty. Everything we ate here was a good portion. I saw the regular menu. Dishes are about $16. The pancakes looked awesome- maybe we will get that next time. Pancakes would pair well with the hash- it looks like a huge dish. They have a breakfast cocktail menu. I had the bloody Maria (nothing special but it said house made bloody mix so I wanted to try it), which came with a celery stick. I think next time I'll do the coffee inspired cocktails. Those sound amazing. We ate inside because the wind was crazy like 25mph. We ate outside one day, when the wind wasn't as bad, and found that there are some pesky birds trying to steal food off of server trays. So if you don't want the birds, sit inside. The place gets busy; you can make a reservation. We never had to wait in line long or wait for a table, but I think that's because we're hotel guests. Once sat, we did wait more than 20 min to receive our food. But it's ok. The coffee is good. The restaurant turns into Lona for lunch and dinner. They give you the Lona drink menu for breakfast too if you're more in the mood for a margarita. Bar seating is first come first served. Bathrooms are inside the hotel lobby. There is no parking for the restaurant but you can valet.

No way this stuff wasn't pre-made a while ago. Oh yeah, part of a banana and one strawberry. Despite what the waiter said, I could tell everything was pre-made. It's about the same quality as the free "continental breakfast" most cheap hotels offer except at the hotel it's still warm and you get refills on coffee and the waffle is freshly made and hot enough to melt butter. No free refills on coffee here unless you buy their "pour over," and then you get one small refill. The strainer for the coffee was stained and filthy when it was brought out, so they're not using fresh ones or even cleaning thoroughly between uses. GF had a meatless omelet and a smoothie. Her omelet was hot so obviously it was made fresh unlike mine. I told the waiter my food was cold and he swore he saw them "take it out of the oven," but nothing I ordered would be cooked in any over other than a microwave oven. Total bill for two: $60+. This was with a 30% discount on my plate for my food being served cold. Honestly you'll have a better, fresher meal at IHOP or Waffle House or Denny's, for a fraction of the price and you'll get coffee refills.
