We loved that the two winery cats, Comet and Rocket, joined us for our walk about. At the end of the tour, we were able to meet and pet some of the resident horses before sitting down for our wine tasting. We truly enjoyed all of the wines to some degree, but of course we have our individual favorites. The view while we sipped, chatted, and snacked was breathtaking. Highly recommend!

We returned to Sonoma in 2026 with a small group and booked another tour. Booking and communication was a breeze. Very good. Ends up the property I rented offered a wine passport and we were to receive a discount. I called to confirm and they let me know the driver would apply the discount when we paid him the day of the tour. All sounded wonderful and was very clearly communicated. The tour in 2026 only went to 3 wineries. Two were just ok and one was not good. I don't think anyone on our tour purchased anything here. The time at each winery was like a typical tasting with some information on their winery. But no real information on Sonoma and Napa and the history of the area. At the end our driver had no clue on our discount and kept telling me he would get in trouble for charging me less. He insinuated I was making it all up. In the end he did honor the discount but seemed he did it as a favor not that it was a program that Platypus participates in. All in all I was disappointed in this wine tour and would no go on a platypus tour again and would not recommend them. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Luckily all the people on our tour were delightful so that made for a nice day.

I had been planning my husband's 50th birthday for over a year and thought I knew the vineyards I wanted to tour. We were going to be there a week and had planned 3 days of tastings plus a fancy dinner out! I knew I wanted to hire a limo service and had done my research on rates, reputation etc! I was going to go with one of the larger limo services that overall had good reviews as long as you stayed away from driver "x"...or driver "y"! The popular company claimed they would plan your trip but after speaking with them several times, I didn't have confidence they knew my tastes so I was on my own to coordinate all the tasting times, distances to and from the vineyards etc, all which was proving a bit challenging not knowing the area well. One of the vineyards (my bucket list, Ghost Horse) suggested I reach out to Tom @ Destination Napa and thank goodness I did!! I mentioned a couple of wines my friends and I like and while we all have different tastes and palette's, Tom assured me he would find vineyards we were all pleased with! While I had initially planned to use Tom for only two days, he convinced me to use him for all our transportation needs. Admittedly I was a little concerned putting all my faith in this one stranger and said to a friend, this is either going to go really well or really bad! I'm thrilled to say - Tom far surpassed my expectations! Tom handled the entire itinerary, choosing boutique vineyards (as requested) and making the reservations on our behalf, planning lunch, menu's, providing champagne before our big birthday dinner and always communicated in a timely fashion! And what's great, Tom is choosing the vineyards and driving you personally so your not having a different driver every day or dealing with someone who doesn't know the vineyard or what was booked for you! Plus he keeps you on schedule which can be difficult when your sitting with friends, drinking incredible wine and making memories!! As you can probably guess by reading the above, I had high expectations and micromanaged the entire process (poor Tom)! Turns out I didn't need to!! Tom's service and vineyard picks were above and beyond what I had planned!! What's best about Tom's picks, I never felt pressure to buy wines or join any of their wine clubs!! That said of course we bought wines, how could you not when you honestly feel like your drinking poetry all day long!! All the vineyards we went to had an amazing story and each one was vastly different (ie Mountain View, up on a hilltop, beautiful terrace, small pond & water fountain, caves). Plus Tom is friends with everyone in Napa (small local community) so whatever we needed he was able to help or offer advice for last minute restaurant reservations, where to shop for cheese and charcuterie and more importantly built into our itinerary the best places to stop for photo ops!! During our Napa Valley journey Tom became a friend, while still treating us like VIP clients! And while we have yet to join a wine club, I'm still ordering wine from the vineyards he took us to and just did a virtual tasting with one last night!! Special shout out to Harry & Cali at Tres Perlas and Todd Anderson of Ghost Horse/Anderson Conn Valley. Hire Tom and I'm sure he can get you in there! In closing my apologies this review is long overdue! We hired Tom for our trip in October 2019 and after returning, life got in the way.
