Worst boba of my life. My Thai tea was watery... did not taste at all like other Thai teas. I don't know how the employee made it nor what she made it with but it gave me diarrhea within two hours. My body aches and I have the chills. Do not recommend, especially if you have high expectations for boba. read more

Went here while on vacation and ordered the steam buns and milk tea. Generous portions and super delicious. We came back and ordered loose leaf tea and noodle bowls. So good! So we came back AGAIN! I've been a patron since they opened the tea house years ago! Jenny is incredibly knowledgeable; everything I've learned about tea has been from her! I've taken several of the tea house classes/workshops. I've gone to many a "first fridays" there. I've bought my favorite tea accessories there! They offer a wide variety of loose leaf and bagged teas they blend themselves, hot and cold food items such as steam buns and tea cakes, hot drinks, blended drinks, boba tea (bubble tea), tons of tea brewing accessories, and a variety of herbs to blend tour own tisanes. I was first introduced to Sipping Streams by a group of friends who wanted to have a tea party. I thought it was a silly but cute idea and went along for the ride. We showed up to fancy tables set with perfect tea cups, tea pots, and platters of cute tea sandwiches and scones and DELICIOUS fruit. There was sugar and cream for the tea & jams and whipped cream for the goodies. We were so impressed and the experience was beyond what I had expected. I have been coming back ever since. Their tea is a little pricey, but it is such great quality. Plus, the jasmine green tea pearls I purchased from here can be used up to three times. So I made a cup, drink it up, and then add more hot water - the taste is just as great and strong as the first batch. I have also had their Silky Sweet Matcha Green Tea - and YUM. I actually came back and bought the sweet matcha green tea powder I loved it so much. There are pastries, salads, soups, sandwiches, and all sorts of tea accessories. I can't believe how disappointed I am. I drove 15 minutes because this place had reviews saying it was the best boba and milk tea in fairbanks. I ordered iced matcha boba, it was not served cold but room temperature and didnt have a single ice cube, the matcha was very weak, and 90% of the boba was not edible and completely undercooked! I bought their matcha lip balm that you'd have to shove into your nose to get the slightest aroma of matcha. The at home taro boba mix was also bad, the recipe on the box to prepare it is so incredibly inaccurate that I had to make my own recipe to salvage it. The only good purchase was their peppermint hot chocolate mix. The blonde girl working at the front was working herself to death and deserves recognition. I watched someone who was standing in the back look out of the kitchen at the customers, not assisting this girl or even asking if she needed help. Even though customers had been waiting for their food for awhile and the barista had been constantly busy ringing in customers and making their drinks. Apparently there is no teamwork present here to ensure customers are helped quickly and made happy. I really didn't want to leave this bad of a review and tried to say I'd give it another chance, but so many things showed me I shouldn't. read more

Just get a tea to go. Definitely not a spot to have tea time. We reserved the Victorian tea on Valentines weekend and were severely disappointed with the tea snacks. The tea was good and kept warm over little candles but tea time usually includes a better spread. Didn't like a single sandwich or baked good that they gave us. No dipped strawberries or macaroons which isn't a must but I've always seen them at other tea times. The girl we booked through was new and didn't know many answers to our questions, yet she never asked other employees or let us speak to someone that knew the answers. The sandwiches were stale and had little flavor. The scones were hard and dry. And they gave us a blackberry jam in a silver dish that smelled and tasted really weird I know silver doesn't react with acidic foods but something was not right. It almost seemed alcoholic. I brought it up when I was paying and they didn't seem too concerned. That and I said we didn't want to take the left over snacks (80% still on the dishes) yet no one seemed to care how the food was. Stopped by this place to kill some time before my flight out of Fairbanks. I got a pot of laoshan black tea and some reindeer sausage egg and cheese croissant while waiting. Both were good. The tea was made with a tea bag, but it has actual leaves and not a generic powdered bag. However, the croissant itself was cold even though the ingredients are heated up so taking a star off for the oversight. They also sell a good selection of tea leaves and tea pot sets. I also overheard some conversation that they actually make the tapioca fresh which is a lot more than what you can say for many of these bubble tea places. All in all its a good stop. read more

Apparently this place has decent loose leaf tea but I do not recommend the milk tea or steamed buns. As someone who grew up consuming both these items, I wish I could have gotten a refund. The milk tea tasted like sugar water with barely any tea flavor. The steamed buns were deformed as if someone mashed the buns closed, the texture was dense and doughy instead of fluffy, the filling meager. Altogether wrong. I hope this place can reassess their execution as they seem to value quality ingredients but their products don't yet live up to their ethos. read more

I've been twice; once at the old location and then once at the new. Both times I went the tea was very enjoyable and I liked the experience the first time. The second time though makes me think twice before going back. My friend and I decided to have lunch before doing some shopping and picking up my husband for a tattoo appt. we never got to go shopping because we were here for so long! We split a pot of tea, each ordered their chicken salad and I got an order of siao pao. There was a baby shower going on, but there was only about 5 women in the back attending it. However the two employees working there on a saturday were completely overwhelmed. First we had to wait almost 20 minutes to give our order; tea came out maybe 15 minutes later. Salads took about 30; and for a $9 salad it was just really bad. Canned chicken and some lettuce, that was about it. The siao pao were good but probably frozen from the Asian market. I was really bummed because the first time I went I had a nice bowl of udon soup...I was pretty embarrassed I even suggested this place. They're a local business trying to make it, but like I said, definitely think twice. Or at least make sure I don't have anywhere to be for a few hours. read more

I never managed to get to the tea house in person while I was is Fairbanks, but some the tea blends were offered at the university, so I got to try several, and eventually started ordering from the website. I am hooked on the Northern Serenity blend as well as 1000 mile. Northern Serenity is my go to after a stressful day, as it is very soothing. 1000 mile is one of my favorites for waking up in the morning, and I always take some with me when camping. read more
