I would have been so surprised if this wonderful Sis Bakery got a low rating on Yelp or anywhere else. This is a must go and check it out type of a bakery. They don't sell any sweet goodies, what they sell is quality Armenian savory goods. I am so surprised at myself that I left this bakery behind and didn't do a review on this hidden gem. Walked in today knowing that they close a little earlier than their usual time and wanted to get everything. This mom n pop place has been around forever and still serving the community nothing but delicious, hot, fresh food. They have Cheese borek, Spinach borek, lahmajune, (Armenian Pizza), potato borek, spicy cheese borek and Ajarski (bread boat filled with cheese, egg or other items which is made to order). 20 minute wait for the Ajarski. The smell of the food automatically welcomes you in. They also have beverages and one of my favorite is Tan. An Armenian yogurt drink. DELICIOUS!! Sounds weird, but it's good! I got a dozen lahmajune the small, compact ones, 2 large, long spicy borek and that was all for today. Give this place a try; and, you will go there at least once or twice a week. Yes, it's that good! Parking is shared with other businesses and they don't have a place to sit. Grab & go orders. Super friendly staff and place is clean. read more

We really wanted to try the pastry with the eggs baked inside but upon getting there we were told that it would take 30 min and that it's a special order. They didn't seem eager to serve us. we decided to try some of the ready made items, overall it was decent enough, nothing special but the basic traditional baked goods. The spinach and cheese was the better one for our taste but again, all good and definitely priced in an affordable way. Nice Local Armenian Baked goods. Wandered here thinking this was where colleagues were getting their coffee and snacks but turned out to be a blessing. Tried the Spicy Cheese and the Potato Stuffed breads. It was early morning so got some fresh ones. Will be back to try more. read more

Popped in here for a snack of a lamajuhn and a cheese beorek. I usually go to lajmajun house on Vanowen out of convenience but I wanted to try a different spot especially because my usual spot has awkward, gruff staff. The woman behind the counter was friendly and bagged up my order quickly. The beorek was flavorful and had the perfect balance of cheese to bread. The lajmajun was tasty. A perfect balance of flavors! A little bit tangy. The only drawback here is that they do not warm the food up for you. Definitely will be back. The world needs more savory bakeries! read more

Love finding a good hole-in-the-wall. This place has fresh lahmejune and other amazing bread bites at a really affordable price. Love their hours and convenience, love that they also sell lemons! I found this bakery because someone was looking for Lahmajune on a Facebook page I was following and they suggested Sis Bakery and so many people agreed. Which led me to look up what Lahmajune was, and it looked good to me so I drove less than a mile from my home to go try it. It was delicious. I had passed this bakery for years and never stopped in because I thought it to be a sweet bakery. Nope. It's all savory. And I've tried half of the items now and the potato beorek is my absolute favorite, followed by the spinach beorek, and the Lahmajune. I used to go to donut shops in hunt of spinach and cheese croissants, and this bakery has changed that for me. I now grab a potato and a spinach and that's my lunch or snack. I recommend to anyone. And if you're looking for cakes, the woman who runs/owns? the store, makes amazing cakes! I saw some photos and they looked amazing. read more

I tried the ajarski with sausage, the lahmajune and the spicy cheese borek - all for about $20. It was plenty of food for 2. Everything was doughy, crispy and so flavorful. The cheeses and spices combined with the texture of the warm bread made it all very special. SO. MUCH. YES. I have never had Armenian food, so I might be biased, but I thought the food here was AMAZING. I wanted the Ajarski, but because I showed up about 30 minute before they closed, they unfortunately ran out ): I will definitely be coming back for it if I'm in the area. Instead I got an array of beoreks: spinach, cheese, beef, spicy cheese. And they were all delicious. And so cheap! The lovely lady heated them up for me so I can eat them right then and there, and it was great. Not too oily or greasy, the flavors were on point, and that bread was to die for. I ended up going back in after finishing my first order, and ordeirng 5 more for lunch the next day. Being Asian, I love trying different food from different cultures, and I am 100% glad I gave this place a try. It was a great introduction into Armenian cuisine and I just want to try more. Love Armenian baked goods and everything at Sis tasted so fresh and flavorful. It was my first time and I asked what everything was and the woman at the counter was very kind, understanding and informative. When I had an issue paying she was also really patient. Everything was bigger than it looked in online and great value for what you're paying! Was able to try pretty much one of everything for about $20 and share with husband and daughter with tons of leftovers for later! I go there for the "spicy cheese borag" and "Lahme-bi-aajin", the quality and quantity of meat and cheese are one of the best in L.A. . Went to lunch next door at Hayat's and saw this spot while parking there. Yelped it super quick and had great reviews so I knew we had to drop by to pick up some deliciousness after lunch. We were super full after a big lunch so decided to not get too much (in hindsight, big mistake!!!) We ordered 2 cheese/ zatar puffs and 1 cheese borek. Came home and later that evening tried the cheese/ zatar puffs and omg!!!! Soooo delicious. I didn't even warm it up and imagine how good it would have been if we did. I wish we would have gotten a dozen more at that point. We just tried the cheese borek this morning and delicious as well! The service was great! Oh my gosh!! Just found a gem!! Saw this place on Yelp and so glad I came here. I ordered the Ajarski and added green peppers and tomatoes..Ordered it on the phone so I won't have to wait 20 mins, since they bake it fresh from order. DELICIOUS!!!!! YUM!!!! Also ordered the spinach borek and that was heaven as well!! TASTES SOOO GOOD!! Bread baked perfectly and seasoned perfect. Also ordered the spicy cheese and another pastry that has the filling for the Maneishe, but haven't tried those items yet. Will update my review once those are tasted. She also threw in the potato borek for free ..Awesome!! which I will also try and update my review once tasted.. It smelled sooo good in there, it's like stepping into one's grandma's kitchen.
