Not sure where my past review went, but my photos are still here. So let me just do a quick summary. Porto's are popping up everywhere but it's still my mom's favorite place for cakes. This is our go to for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. I like to go in for croissants and they also have bread loafs that they'll slice for you if you ask. The lines can get pretty long so I like to order ahead (online) and then just pick up. Prices have gone up but I find them to be still within a reasonable range. I do enjoy their sandwiches for a quick brunch from time to time. I'm not crazy about their coffee, but their seasonal matchas can be delicious. They only come in one size, which is a bummer because sometimes I find it to be too much. So usually I'll go with a friend and we'll share the drink.

Line to get in at 11:30 am on a Saturday

Review #1,090 Posted on 7.14.26 I was very surprised I hadn't yet left a review for this Porto's. We've been to this location I'd guess 3-4 times, most recently last Saturday the 11th prior to our trek back to NorCal. Porto's quite simply put is just awesome. The only bad thing about it isn't their fault, but it's basically you can't stop ordering stuff. I don't think I've ever walked out of there with less than 2 full bags of stuff. Their pastries, hot fresh to order food, coffees, all are awesome. I don't think I can remember everything, but I'll try anyways. The guava cheese strudels are really good, cheese rolls are a staple, and easy to bring a 12 pack home to share with family & friends. I think the potato balls & cheese balls might be my favorite though. The potato balls have ground beef and some little veggie ingredients wrapped inside mash potatoes then breaded and fried. They're excellent and unique. They've also got hot sandwiches, but won't let people order to pickup as they want to them made fresh to order. The ham n cheese is really good, that's a breakfast one so you need to order it by 11 I believe. This last trip we got this sandwich for the ride, spicy milanesa chicken sandwich. Really good, breaded chicken, mozzarella cheese, avocado, & some small slivers of peppers. I really wish they had a Porto's in NorCal. Maybe someday.

Nothing could be finer than being on line waiting to purchase pastries here! It's a dangerous place for someone like me...I love my sweets and I find it very hard not to buy 1 of everything! LOL! When you enter there are 2 lines...The one to the right is for just baked goods...The one to the left is for drinks, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. The lines move quickly and the staff here are very friendly. I got a few chocolate cookies, a guava danish, wildberry muffin and a cinnamon bun to go and I am NOT SHARING! Hee hee. Great for the Coffee Queen to eat with my morning latte... Plenty of tables to sit at if you want to stay. This location is not as big as the one in Northridge. *They have a parking lot off of Hollywood way that is free. Street parking is also free. ~ and that's all I have to say about that...

Potato Ball (Papa Rellena) maybe ? Could be thanksgiving style?

All the food is deliciousThis place is fantastic. It was hard to find the perfect table for my aunt who uses a walker, but we did try. Next time I would simply show up early for lunch time. The main things I wanted to say are: 1. Free parking! 2. That guava cheese pastry does not disappoint! We agreed that the spinach pastry is a close second. Delicious! 3. I walked to the front of the line just to ask if there was a place for my aunt to sit while my mom and I were in line. I was SHOCKED when she said: "just bring her up front and you can order now." So lovely and welcoming and generous and inclusive. I'm so grateful. Thank you, Porto's Team! ps. ! I agree that it's a little tough to feed vegetarians (especially vegans) here, but it is worth it - at least for vegetarians!!!!!

Great place for coffee and pastries!

Having lived in Los Angeles, I used to love visiting Porto's in Glendale, so I was excited to stop by the Burbank location, and it did not disappoint! Some things never change, and that's a good thing. I always have to order the spicy potato balls, which are perfectly crispy on the outside with a flavorful, satisfying filling. They're one of my all time favorite Porto's items. The guava and cheese pastries were just as amazing as I remembered: flaky, butter, and filled with a great balance of sweet guava and creamy cheese. I also tried the dirty horchata, a twist on the traditional drink but add a shot of cold brew coffee. This was an absolute delight with it being refreshing, perfectly spiced, and paired wonderfully with the pastries.

Porto's is always a hit! New Porto's location for me. Same result. I want to say I got back in line with my Porto's bag in hand to order even more food... and a worker moved me out of line and helped me get what I needed quickly! Great customer service. Place is like a zoo at all times, busy and Super packed but it's controlled chaos to say the least. They watch tables and make a line. This allows you to be first come first serve at a table rather than fighting for a table with someone who just showed up. The food I got today was a ropa vieja sandwich. It was good but not my favorite. I'm addicted to the spicy potato balls and the meat pies. Nice location.

This was my first Porto's experience. The cafe is quite large and there are so many pastries to choose from! The food menu itself is limited with vegetarian/pescatarian options. I ordered the guava lemonade which was the perfect tartness. I also ordered the guava cheese pastry, pistachio chocolate macaron (seasonal), and a potato cheese spicy ball (which was quite large). Also got the cilantro Caesar, which was quite large for the price- it was heavy with dressing. Not sure if it was the cleaning supplies or being close to the trash, but there was a strange smell we did notice.

Another Porto's hit!! This time, I brought a plate home. The Plato de Pollo is my favorite lunch/dinner order! Burbank is one of their older locations, so it doesn't have a dedicated coffee bar like Northridge. Plenty of outdoor sidewalk seating, and you can make it a date to walk along Magnolia Blvd.

Such a great experience. First time going and this location was FANTASTIC! Parking was easy, staff were great, and the restaurant has such a good vibe. I got 5 of everything (had to try them all with the fam) from the house specialties and the service and turnaround was so smooth. Thanks for a wonderful experience.Definitely would love to come back next time I'm in the area.

Menu with price update. Food and service are great as usual. Ordered ham and cheese croissant, guava strudel, apple strudel, chocolate twist, mixed berry muffins, churro cookies, chocolate chip cookies, Plato de pollo platter, carnitas platter, ham and cheese croissant sandwiches, tamales, meat pies. Chicken empanadas and guava smoothies. We will hit Porto's again on our next trip.

We ordered a few pastries: blueberry cream cheese danish, almond croissant, quesadilla, and chocolate twist. All very tasty! I wasn't sure what to get, they have all sorts of pastries, tarts, cakes, and some savory options too. Everything was priced fairly, I'd say. We also got a un Plato de Rios Vieja, it was really good, the meat had good flavor and the portion was perfect for 1-2 people. The drinks here are also good, my party ordered a strawberry matcha and a honey coffee. There's a lot of options, something for everyone. The service is also great. There is a long line, but it moves fast (15 mins) and you can usually find seating if you're dining in. The servers all have a good attitude and are more than happy to give recommendations if you want some. I'd come back! The atmosphere is pretty casual. It's a good spot for lunch or a coffee break. Music isn't too loud, either.

What's a SoCal trip without stopping by Porto's before heading home Every time we drive down, we always bring goods back to our friends and families. Always order online to avoid long waits. You can pick from many different time slots also. My favs: CHEESE ROLLS! That's is that's all

Porto's is a legend! I think everyone in LA should pay homage here... and judging from how popular they are at all hours, everyone is!!! Other than their famous pastries (and there are soooo many of them), their sandwiches are excellent too! My favorite is their croissants - they are the best I've tasted... not only good but also cheaper than most places in town! Great service -- I estimated there are likely 50 people working at this place, front and back. Everyone I met was courteous and cheerful. You are unlikely to get this level of service at any other cheap eats in town. The ambiance is busy and lively. You have to self-serve but they are efficient and fast. Unbelievable prices in today's market! Whenever I come, I get bags / boxes of take-outs Lastly, one thing I love about them is, while everyone is asking for 18% to 25% tips, their cashier machines do not ask for any! Can you find another place in town that does this?

Ask the Community - Porto's Bakery & Cafe

Can I get list of cakes to see what types Porto's have and which is popularbecause I'm thinking getting a birthday cake?

Sorry, but I don't know anything about their cakes except that they're gorgeous and the $30 range

Did the whole porto's in the world copy each of their businesses from another business?

It is my understanding that the founder came from Cuba and she started at the bakery on her own. It is a family business and I've never come across anything similar in my travels.

Do u guys make a custom cake? Like Gucci team cake?

    No they don't.

    Is it halal?

No, they have lots of pork products. I can't see how they could be.

Are they open on July 4th?

Yes! Special hours are 6:30am-5pm. Make sure you preorder because it's usually busy on holidays!

    Do they allow dogs?

    They allow service dogs

Do they have the bread pudding back yet at this location?

Not yet… it’s a seasonal item during the fall. You can always call and see what they have :)

What time do they start for pick up order? I want to pick up at 0630am

No sure, I have picked up at 8am. You can schedule the time through the website or at location directly.

I see breakfast is until 11:00 a.m. Do you start offering your regular menu sandwiches before 11:00 a.m.?

Yes they do .. if it's on the menu when you are there you can order it

Are there still no vegan options?

Tough to be vegan at Porto's

Why is the menu so limited on Uber Eats?

Is the meat pie's filling the same as the potato ball's filling?

Not really. The Potato ball is Harty while the meat pie is more of a flaky crust with about the same amount meat. Hope that makes sense 😅

What happened to their southwest syle steak Salad it's no longer on the menu?

I remember this salad, it was removed from the menu, haven't seen it during any of my recent visits

    What are their vegan options?

    Indoor seating available now?

    Yes

Are they still doing custom cakes? I'm not seeing the options they used to have on their site anymore

They do, but you'll have to go in to the bakery

Ia there a private parking lot? Or do i have to pay parking fee?

They have their own parking lot...free of charge

Are you open on Christmas Day?

Porto's is closed on Christmas day.

Do they still have Masareal? we haven't been able to get it in a long time. I wonder if they will bring it back?

No, I hope they bring back triple chocolate cake as well.

What is the best way to warm up potato balls, meat pies and croquettes?

Most likely to put it in the oven or toaster.

I requested a pastel, whimsical, tea design cake and sent reference photos. What I received was bold, watermelon-like colors that completely clashed with my child's party theme and on top of that, a milestone 5th birthday. I was also only told after ordering and paying that Sunday pickup isn't normally allowed -- forcing me to pick up the cake at 8am the morning of the party. That policy should be disclosed upfront. We had to change plans in order to accomodate this request she unprofessionally sprung onto us. I emailed with photos and respectful feedback and received no response. Not even an acknowledgment. The staff was also very friendly and provided great service. Unfortunately, the pastries themselves were a major disappointment. Being generous, I'd rate the taste a 1/5 and the value a 0/5. About 90% of what I had was just cream filling with very little flavor. They looked incredible but tasted bland and one-dimensional. For the prices they charge, I expected much more. What makes it even harder to justify is that they're priced similarly to Artelice, which not only delivers on presentation but also on taste. In my opinion, Artelice is in a completely different league. If you're nearby and need a one time gift for someone you'll probably never buy pastries for again, sure, these might impress visually. But if you're buying for yourself or for people whose opinion you'll actually hear again, this is a hard pass. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 10 minutes to Artelice.
