This is my first time back at the Burbank location of Portos. I was last year many years ago. I go to the Glendale and West Covina locations fairly often. This one is definitely more hectic due to there being less parking overall. this location is so busy luckily I had ordered my items online already previously. And then it came in around my pick up time. I still had to wait in line outside to be let in because it was that busy which is pretty normal. And the pre-order side was on the right hand side in the back My items are there waiting for me so it was a quick and painless process Parking is pretty bad here so I drove around to some of the other neighboring lots. Not sure where my past review went, but my photos are still here. So let me just do a quick summary. Porto's are popping up everywhere but it's still my mom's favorite place for cakes. This is our go to for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. I like to go in for croissants and they also have bread loafs that they'll slice for you if you ask. The lines can get pretty long so I like to order ahead (online) and then just pick up. Prices have gone up but I find them to be still within a reasonable range. I do enjoy their sandwiches for a quick brunch from time to time. I'm not crazy about their coffee, but their seasonal matchas can be delicious. They only come in one size, which is a bummer because sometimes I find it to be too much. So usually I'll go with a friend and we'll share the drink. read more

We've been to this location I'd guess 3-4 times, most recently last Saturday the 11th prior to our trek back to NorCal. Porto's quite simply put is just awesome. The only bad thing about it isn't their fault, but it's basically you can't stop ordering stuff. I don't think I've ever walked out of there with less than 2 full bags of stuff. Their pastries, hot fresh to order food, coffees, all are awesome. I don't think I can remember everything, but I'll try anyways. The guava cheese strudels are really good, cheese rolls are a staple, and easy to bring a 12 pack home to share with family & friends. I think the potato balls & cheese balls might be my favorite though. The potato balls have ground beef and some little veggie ingredients wrapped inside mash potatoes then breaded and fried. They're excellent and unique. They've also got hot sandwiches, but won't let people order to pickup as they want to them made fresh to order. The ham n cheese is really good, that's a breakfast one so you need to order it by 11 I believe. This last trip we got this sandwich for the ride, spicy milanesa chicken sandwich. Really good, breaded chicken, mozzarella cheese, avocado, & some small slivers of peppers. I really wish they had a Porto's in NorCal. Maybe someday. read more

Nothing could be finer than being on line waiting to purchase pastries here! It's a dangerous place for someone like me...I love my sweets and I find it very hard not to buy 1 of everything! LOL! When you enter there are 2 lines...The one to the right is for just baked goods...The one to the left is for drinks, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. The lines move quickly and the staff here are very friendly. I got a few chocolate cookies, a guava danish, wildberry muffin and a cinnamon bun to go and I am NOT SHARING! Hee hee. All the food is deliciousThis place is fantastic. It was hard to find the perfect table for my aunt who uses a walker, but we did try. Next time I would simply show up early for lunch time. Having lived in Los Angeles, I used to love visiting Porto's in Glendale, so I was excited to stop by the Burbank location, and it did not disappoint! Some things never change, and that's a good thing. I always have to order the spicy potato balls, which are perfectly crispy on the outside with a flavorful, satisfying filling. They're one of my all time favorite Porto's items. The guava and cheese pastries were just as amazing as I remembered: flaky, butter, and filled with a great balance of sweet guava and creamy cheese. I also tried the dirty horchata, a twist on the traditional drink but add a shot of cold brew coffee. I wasn't sure what to get, they have all sorts of pastries, tarts, cakes, and some savory options too. Everything was priced fairly, I'd say. We also got a un Plato de Rios Vieja, it was really good, the meat had good flavor and the portion was perfect for 1-2 people. The drinks here are also good, my party ordered a strawberry matcha and a honey coffee. There's a lot of options, something for everyone. The service is also great. There is a long line, but it moves fast (15 mins) and you can usually find seating if you're dining in. The servers all have a good attitude and are more than happy to give recommendations if you want some. I'd come back! The atmosphere is pretty casual. It's a good spot for lunch or a coffee break. There are 2 lines inside...one for meals food and some baked goods, and the other for baked goods and some food. There are so many baked items, but I go for their savory items. The Cuban Sandwich is delicious! And the potato balls (mashed potatoes with a filling, rolled in Panko and deep fried) are legendary. You place your order, then pay. You're given a number, and someone will find you with your food (if you are eating in.) all condiments and drinks are available for self serve, and it's cheery & bright inside. I love this Porto's location, even though ordering and waiting for your food here can be a bit of a nightmare because of how busy it always is. My family and I have bought everything from pastries and cakes & other food here, and everything has always tasted fresh. My favorites are the potato meat balls and beef empanadas. Their pastries are incredibly delicious, and it's easy to see why Porto's remains so popular and busy. That being said, this location gets a ton of traffic. The line is usually long whenever I come, and it can feel crowded pretty quickly. Parking in the back isn't terrible, but it's not free, so make sure you pay for however long you plan to be there. It's probably better to order in advance if you can. But if you plan on dining in, just know that it does get packed. So overall the food is great, the pastries are fresh, the staff is helpful & friendly and it remains good enough to continue coming back. read more

An update review after 8 years from my last review: Porto's in Burbank is still 5 stars in my book! Came here today to kill some time and at 5pm on a weekday, I breezed through the line and sat down in less than 12 minutes. I always get friendly, fast service here, not feeling rushed nor hurried. Porto's have had great customer service for the past 15 years that I have been going there. It makes it difficult to try new spots on Magnolia Blvd since I am a repeat customer. The coffee and the juice/smoothie bar is just as high quality as their baked goods and food. It has gotten progressively better year after year and I have seen their menu expand. You have to have great coffee with the amazing desserts they serve! My current favorites are the mango mousse, the chocolate chip twist, the cheese and jalapeno potato balls, and of course, the guava cheese pastry. I also love their chopped chicken and Caesar salads! Ample seats both inside and outside. If I ever get parking and see open seats, then I take it as a sign from the cosmos that I am meant to get Porto's. read more

A first at this location, I completed a mobile order for some pastry's and the Dulce iced latte. This location did have a small parking , but the spaces were tight . I can only imagine during rush hour or weekends . I visited this location at 7 am and was slightly busy. Upon arrival, it was a bit confusing on where to go for mobile orders . I made a left where I thought was mobile , and it is actually a right. I wish there was more signage or directions for mobile order in the app as well. To pick up my order was very quick, the lady mentioned they were making my coffee. I waited an extra 5-10 minutes , I followed up by asking if she can check on my drink. Had to stop by one of our favorite bakeries in SoCal. It was on the way home. It was my son's 9th birthday and we got some Porto's famous cheese rolls for his birthday party. I got a Cuban sandwich togo and plantains with garlic sauce. I haven't had it in a while and I missed it. It was amazing. We tried a dozen seafood potato balls. I think I ate 6 by myself. They were good! I tried the strawberry cheese croissant. I liked it but my wife didn't like it. I got myself a 1 guava cheese strudel and I loved it. My fav is dulce de leche coffee and fresh orange juice. I wasn't hungry so I didn't eat until we got home. Service always amazing and friendly. This was my first time visiting this Porto's location. It's definitely smaller than the Buena Park location, but it's just as busy. One thing I really liked was that the line moved quickly because there were multiple workers helping customers. Even with the crowd, it didn't take long to get our food and find a table. The staff were kind, efficient, and kept everything moving smoothly. I ordered my usual favorites along with a latte and a Cubano sandwich, and everything was fresh and delicious. For a booming restaurant like Porto's, it's hard to find another place that offers this level of quality at such reasonable prices. Their potato balls are still only about $1 each and are just as delicious as ever. I also picked up several of their most popular pastries, and they tasted just as good as I remember from the first time I tried them. While walking around the area after brunch, it was hard to ignore the crowd surrounding Porto's. I generally avoid these situations but decided to brave the madness for some amazing treats that can only come from Porto's. It was difficult to see the ordering line through all the customers picking up, dining in and waiting on orders, but the team member at the entrance was so efficient in calmly directing everyone -- she highlighted the clothing of the person that each new customer needed to stand behind. The line was long but moved surprisingly fast. We were called up to the counter by Catherine. She was friendly and super helpful in describing the items we were not familiar with. We weren't rushed as we asked more questions and decided on our order -- Potato Balls, Cheese Rolls, Tiramisu, Mango Mousse Bomb, and Flan Caramel. She let us know that she would be packing up our order and had us wait by the register as she disappeared into the Porto's abyss. While we waited, there was a basket filled with little bags of Churro Butter Cookies that kept calling me! :) Catherine returned several minutes later and apologized for a wait that honestly didn't seem that long considering the insanity of Mother's Day. She worked with Raul at check out who was another impressive team member. As Catherine finished our transaction (after adding a bag of Churro Butter Cookies btw), she wished me a Happy Mother's Day and let us know that we could come directly to her, without having to stand in line again, if we needed anything else. Delivering incredible customer service and impeccable food quality in such chaos is a testament to the well-oiled machine that Porto's has created and maintained over the years. I've been coming for years! I love the food and the service. Today we had what seemed to be a newer hire named Diego over on the bakery side. He was absolutely helpful and his demeanor was vibrant and calm. This truly stood out to us while we ordered. He helped us as we tried to pick food items outside of our usual picks and we really loved what he suggested for us. Very patient and friendly with us which at times at busy place as Porto's can be is rare. Only suggestion I would make is to management: I didn't appreciate as Diego was wrapping the end of our experience and ringing us up that management or whoever was on the floor giving directions to halt our conversation with him and give him feedback with us present and it made the after math incredibly awkward. The manager or supervisor in a white shirt raised his voice behind us and said " Diego... *looked over at another cashier* (as to imply let her ring these costumers up) ... you aren't certified to be on the register yet" This interaction was odd and only serves to say that management should be aware of the interactions they with staff when customers are around. read more
