I stopped in here on my way home from camping in the Catskills, looking for coffee and a treat for the drive back to Long Island. The coffee is great, they offer decaf and several regular options as well as a variety of milks, including organic almond. I've been to Sissy's several times and they never disappoint - even though once they basically forgot to put half the ingredients in those vegan tempeh wrap. From egg and feta breakfast sandwiches to spicy beer and booch shandies, I've never been steered wrong. Love the hot bird sandwich, the aforementioned vegan tempeh wrap, and the salads. I would give 0 stars if I could. First, the woman at the counter was condescending when we asked if food could be made for take-out. Second, the order was not correct for one sandwich. Third, their signature sandwich, The Vegan Delight, was not as advertised. Half of the ingredients listed on all of their signs and menu were not on the sandwich. Their fakin' bacon is actually tempe and not cooked. The place was packed and other food (like the eggs) looked good, but the risk of getting an incorrect order and attitude is not worth it. I always get the steak and eggs wrap or a beet sandwich depending on if it's a meat day or not. Only problem is that it's small and getting up and getting coffee in a busy restaurant is not ideal but it's worth the good food and generally peaceful atmosphere. read more

Went there with a friend today based on a recommendation from a coworker. Both of us are Vegan and had a wonderful meal. I got the Haven's wrap and my friend had the Vegan delight and both our meals were excellent. The food was very fresh and vibrant. I like that I was able to get a sandwich with some protein in it (fakin bacon, chick peas and sunflower seeds). This was NOT some prepackaged processed veggie burger that I might get at other establishments. This was real fresh food. The staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful. They also have fresh juices, smoothies, soups (1 was vegan), and even vegan cookies! The prices are reasonable... There's also plenty of non-vegan options as well, but my review is based on the quality and selection of vegan food available. Tonight was the first time for Sissy's pizza and salad. The salads were wonderful but we expected that. Since we do not like the typical Kingston pizza: sloppy, too much cheese, tasteless crust, not crispy and not Italian, we were wary. I would have to say it was the best pizza we have had in Kingston. They are also serving two kinds of wine and a pale ale. All good. And the prices were right. One of the things I miss most about home is Sissy's vegan delight!! It is the first thing I get when I come home to visit. I love this place, the staff is super friendly, the food is always fresh and DELICIOUS! I'm also a big fan of their smoothies! They have great vegan and vegetarian options. While Sissy's in nice and is a good catch all restaurant, they seem to be a jack of all trades and master of none. With a menu that includes sandwiches, vegan baked goods, kombucha, smoothies and beer, there really is something for everyone. So over all, a nice place to go, but I have a few complaints. The kombucha is great in the smoothies, but there seems to be a swarm of small fruit flies around the tap and house flies throughout the restaurant. The beer they have is usually craft beer, and at any time one or two of the beers are out, which is a real disappointment after trying twice to try one kind of beer. The service can be a little standoffish, but that may have been due to stress, multiple customers, etc. I may have caught them on a bad day, because when they did pay attention to me they were pretty nice. Overall, not a bad place, but it's not a place where I would hang out or suggest, contrary to a lot of reviews on here. read more

Nasty red haired server. Poorly made sandwich which was missing its "signature " ingredient. Other sandwich came crumbled and also missing ingredients. Server treated other customers with disdain and/or indifference. When I or other displeased customers said something to her she barked back: we are busy here. Yes, there were diners but there was no overflow or anyone waiting for a table. Awful food, awful service, inexcusable attitude. Would never go there again and recommend that others try a different place. read more

Amazing food that is always served fresh and hot. I definitely recommend getting whatever soup they have cooked up as well as a smoothie or juice. The waitresses are so sweet and work so hard. My family and I have been in here a few times, and we have nothing but nice things to say about the ladies working there, and the food. The girls are more than friendly, and greeted us with big warm smiles. They were extremely attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We split one of their craft beers, which was delicious. I had breakfast with a friend at this warm, welcoming cafe in Uptown Kingston. I ordered the egg and cheese sandwich on a hard roll, which was delicious. They offered a nice choice of teas and coffees, as well. The only negative is that their smoothies are made right behind the counter in the dining area, causing frequent, ear-crushing noise which interrupts conversation. They need to move the machine in to the kitchen, as the noise interrupted us about a dozen times during our meal. Other than that, I would go back for the food. read more
