Rarely would I ever give five stars... But if there is a place that gets it, it is the Sisters Bakery. A donut is the definition of junk food so I don't eat them, but only when I go through Sisters will I make an exception. Its almost like I black out right when I pass the Chevron and the next thing I know, I am walking out with a box of donuts. Having grown up here, it was a bi-weekly tradition to go in and get a maple Pinecone. However, it annoys me to no end that people make comments about the cash only and the layout of the building. In regards to cash only - most of their donuts are under a dollar. If someone comes in, buys one donut and puts it on a card, there goes 50% of the profit on that donut. I would much rather scratch up change to pay for the donut at a reasonable price, than be overcharged for something just so I can use my card? Bring cash, its part of the experience. If you don't like it, then go to Rays Food Place and get a crappy pre-frozen donut that you can buy with your card. In regards to the layout - this is something that makes it great and the purchase that much more worth it! The building has character as does the experience. Again, Ray's food place has PLENTY of elbow room for you to walk in and get a POS donut. This is a small, modest, humble business and you should be prepared to experience such. To summarize, this place is awesome and makes awesome things. The only accept cash, and if you are a snood who does not want to be a little bit squeezed in to get something totally delicious you have other options, but will miss out on the greatest donut you will ever have. read more

We got into town early for the Quilt show. Wanted breakfast on the go so we could watch the quilts go up. A mix of savory (think cheese and herb breads/breadsticks and quiche) and sweet (donuts, brownies, muffins, cakes) that easily surpass what can be found in comparable bakeries in areas much more frequented than sisters. I'm glad these are available without prescription because they're yummy! Unwilling to focus my attention on one (to the exclusion of all others), I purchased a few, as did my colleague, because they tend to disappear on a long journey. They may reappear at my belt, but we had a few days of exercise ahead of us and the "fuel" was appreciated. One small piece of Watery quiche, heavy donuts, and nothing else available at 5:40. Maybe lunch is better, but after such a dismal offering in the morning, I don't know why we would go back to see. I have visited this bakery for years. It is now under new ownership. I recently bought an item I had purchased many times and found it to be completely unsatisfactory. I called to let the bakery know. They acknowledged they didn't make the dough correctly and had many other complaints but were still seeing them that way and would be for a week or so...really? Not even an offer of a replacement once the problem was solved. I will think twice before returning. read more

Truly the best donuts. Voodoo has nothing on these. I will drive out of the way going to and from Portland just for the perfect scone and an enormous apple fritter. And they bake bread as well. Went in on our way through town, originally were greeted and asked what we wanted. Ordered for myself and the kid went to make my coffee, no one asked my husband if he wanted anything, a few more people came in and were greeted and asked what they wanted, still no one helped my husband, as we stood there waiting they continued to greet and ring people up. Finally I asked if he could get anything and if we could pay... The woman was cold and acted almost offended that I asked to finish ordering and pay for my food. I stopped in on June 11, 2017 and purchased two delicious cinnamon rolls. The salesperson was very pleasant. About 2 hours later and 60 miles on my way home I discovered that the card holder insert in my wallet was missing. I called the bakery and the young man who answered assured me that they had found it. He gave me the owner's cell phone number. I reached the owner in his car. He couldn't have been more pleasant. He offered to mail the wallet insert to me. It arrived in the mail 2 days later. I am very grateful. read more
