We were on our way from FL to MA. Last Friday, it was my daughter's Birthday so we needed somewhere to have a great celebration dinner for her. The food and drinks were very good. However, our waitperson was Jimmy who gets the 5 star review. He was absolutely wonderful; professional, thoughtful, polite, attentive. He made our experience a positive memorable night. I'd also like to thank the manager who allowed us to have dinner on the patio as we were traveling with my daughter's dog so couldn't be seated inside. I legit have only had a few things off of the menu: lime chicken ranch salad, perogis, truffle fries, and burratta app. Everything was super good! It seems to be mostly bar food, but definitely hit this place up for lunch or a casual dinner. The staff is nice and there is a large wrap around bar. read more

If I could give them more stars I absolutely would! I've been here several times and have always had a great experience. Tonight we decided to order through Doordash. When the order arrived, only 2 of my 5 orders were there. On the receipt there only listed 2 items. I checked my app and there were 5 confirmed orders. I called and spoke to the manager. Chances are, they received the order from Doordash and the person who typed in the order in their restaurant's system failed to type all 5 items. The manager confirmed I was missing 3 orders and said he was going to have it made quickly and delivered by one of the hostess. 15 minutes later the manager was at my door! Kind, professional and apologetic. I've owned multiple restaurants and have been in the hospitaliy business for many years. This manager (Scott I believed), could've suggested a refund which would have upsetted me very much. My family waited an hour for the first delivery and would have had to wait another hour if we were forced to re-order or order elsewhere. Instead, he took responsibility and personally delivered the food. OUTSTANDING!!! He won me and my family over for sure! So I decided to give The Sitting Duck another chance, and I'm glad I did. My Mom and I came in for dinner tonight, around 6pm on a Sunday. We were greeted promptly and seated right away. Our server Olivia was excellent! She was extremely friendly and attentive, we absolutely loved her. I had my regular- the Turkey Burger with sweet potato fries, and my Mom had her regular- the Sitting Duck Burger with regular fries, and both were delicious as usual. I think when we came on Mother's Day it must have just been an off day and/or inexperienced server, because I genuinely really like this restaurant and will continue to come here when I have the chance. read more

Great service and food yesterday. Bethany was great bartender with high efficiency and positive attitude. I had others arrive to enjoy some food with and we swiftly moved to a table. Elliot came over to serve us and was fantastic. He recommended drinks which my friend loved (Pear Martini)!! We all had different dishes and of the 5 people who ordered food, not one person disliked it. I had the pub chips. The cheese was creamy and bacon was not over soggy nor was it over cooked. Sitting Duck Tavern is definitely needed in Trumbull since there are very few bars and pubs in the town. The place is very clean, has a nice bar and some outside seating and the service has been pretty good so far. The beers on tap are always rotating and are usually pretty rare while the food is good for what you would expect from a bar/pub. They have NFL RedZone for your football Sundays and the place is never annoyingly crowded. I come here a lot and like it. Since it opened, I've been going to the Sitting Duck maybe a half dozen or so times a year but I'm going to make an effort to get there more often. The atmosphere is warm, the staff is friendly and very attentive, the food (particularly the meatloaf) is excellent and the drink portions are generous. Music a little too loud and lights a little too bright. Not too crowded for Friday dinner, though. Server was really attentive and food came out promptly. Menu is a mix of basic pub fare and with some interesting additions. There's something for everyone here. Duck wings were a fun on-theme touch, and the brussel sprout app had a really nice crispiness to it. Crab tater tots had a mushy interior that I found off-putting. Mac and cheese was dry and less-than-cheesy. Chicken topping the Cobb salad lacked flavor. I'd probably stick to the burger section of the menu next time, which my dining partner raved about. read more

Everything was wonderful... until we were forgotten. We got our drinks in good time, and our waitress took our order. We waited.... And waited..... I went to the bar for another drink. Our food finally came out. Cold. Undercooked chicken. That had to be sent back. So I wasn't hopeful that I would even get to eat. My boyfriend got fish and chips. Very greasy. The fries were cold. There was a hard chunk running through the middle of one of the fish pieces. The laughable part, the waitress came to ask how we were doing and she forgot about the chicken situation. So I've been here 5-6 times....each time sitting at the bar...Food is Great!!....bar service has not been good each time I've been here...they seem to be more interested in talking to their friends at the end of the bar....by the kitchen...then paying attention to the bar....my food order sat in the serving window....where I could see it....for almost 5 mins!! It still would have been there if I hadn't said something to the bartender as she finally walked around the bar.... As I said in the beginning...food here is great!! One good thing is that I don't drink as much when I'm here because the bartenders are to interested in their friends in stead of their customers! I had a birthday recently, and was given a gift card for the Sitting Duck Taveern, a fairly new restaurant in Trumbull, CT. I heard many good things about this place, and it very different than I expected. It's basically a large room, full service bar, and a very limited menu. As a sports bar, it's a typical burger type of establishment. So, if your looking for a place with an extended menu, this is not the place for you. The place was very clean, open large room, and a nice place overall. I thought the food was exceptional, and, the service was outstanding. It was a very good experience. My only Issue would be the very limited food menu. I hope they add more food items to the menu. Again, overall great food, and my waitress was excellent. I will go back again soon. Went there this past Saturday to celebrate a Birthday... The place seemed nice...it was very cold in there that night At 6:30 PM , they had the AC on and it was much colder then it needed to be. To the food and service...Waiter came over quickly and got a drink order...not everyone got their drinks and it took a very long time...We all ordered food...Food arrived around 8:15 seemed like it took forever to get there...and it was pretty much all cold. They consistently mess up orders. Food is subpar at best but the restaurant is close to my house so I give them business. Not anymore. Friday i put an order in and arrived 25 minutes later at which time the person behind the counter informed us that they never had my order. To avoid further frustration, I agreed to wait while they "quickly" prepared my meal. Another 20 minutes later my order was finally served. To anybody who knows how frustrating this sort of thing could be, will understand how I felt when I got home only to find out that they screwed up my order. Enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant. The staff was quick and very pleasant. For starters we had the calamari, it was a bit on the chewy side maybe a bit overdone. For our entrees I had the burger with pastrami and it was out of this world. Cooked at a perfect medium rare and the pastrami made it totally over the top. I ordered the beef tips medium rare and they were served overcooked and tough. Our nice waiter Freddie removed them and brought me another plate . They too were very small pieces of meat (not steak) and also extremely TOUGH. I had only had them previously many times at the Stratford location where there are 5 large cubes of moist properly cooked delicious STEAK. I stopped in on a Tuesday around 515 or so and the place was packed. I am from out of state and make it a point to go to the sitting duck every time I come to Trumbull. The bartenders are friendly as well as all the staff. I sat at the bar and had the sitting duck burger to which I added bacon jam which is out of this world perhaps a bacon jam dip at some point? Anyway, Bethany was my bartender this particular Tuesday night. I thought I was going to have to call a landscaper to get her out of the weeds as she was the only bartender. First time there. Very nice sized bar, not a ton of seating for food goers. Will be nice and have more room when patio is open in the spring. Service was very good which is rare when restaurants first open, food came out in a timely fashion considering they were so busy. We shared Bam Bam Shrimp (was delicious) and I had a burger that was very good. My wife had the grilled cheese with tomato and the tomato soup. She really enjoyed it. She felt the soup could have been thicker (I thought it was perfect) and we agreed the flavor was great. Was a bit noisy, but it's a bar/restaurant format so you should expect that.
