We made reservations for Six Peaks Grille for the second night of our honeymoon stay at the resort. We were greeted by the bartender, Karen, who when told it was our honeymoon made sure we had seats with a fantastic view. She also brought me a complimentary glass of champagne, and when she found out my husband doesn't drink she made him a delish virgin cocktail (also complimentary). She was really fantastic. Even after a two week road trip seeing so many different people and eating at so many different places, she still stands out now. The food was excellent as well. My husband got the bison steak which was awesome and cooked perfectly. I got the chicken, which is something that I'll rarely get at a steakhouse, but it sounded so good. And it TASTED so good. The presentation was a work of art and it was probably the best chicken dish I've ever ordered at a restaurant. For dessert we had the smores dessert and it was gone in about 3 minutes flat, despite us both being full. Would definitely come back on our next trip to the resort and would recommend for others staying in the area. read more

Fantastic birthday dinner for two. The menu is wonderful, with a great vegetarian entree option. There are many vegetable sides to choose from, served family style, enough for at least two. We ordered one item from the grill (wow, yum), a few vegetable sides and a platter of fermented veggies (chef special). All, fantastic. Don't go there without ordering the corn soup, if they have it. The drink menu is extensive. Specialty cocktails are a must if you're the libatious type ;). Our server was a gem; wish we remembered his name. All staff in the restaurant were very friendly to us. We dined here during our weekend stay and loved it. The views, the service and food were amazing. This restaurants is attached to the beautiful resort at Squaw Valley. A resort I'd highly recommend, especially because you literally don't have to leave if you don't want to. Six Peaks Grill being one or the reasons you'll want to stay. I got the red snapper with chanterelle mushrooms, summer corn, smoked fish dashi, garden blossoms and my husband and I shared roasted zucchini along with their assortment of bread. The snapper was cooked nicely and while the size of the dish was smaller then I hoped for the price, it was worth it considering where we were and the views we had. Plastic wrapper with Tomahawk steak! We decided to go to Six Peaks Grille for Christmas dinner, and we expected a fine dinning experience. When our friend found a big piece of plastic wrap in his Tomahawk steak dish, we were all very surprised, and asked for the manager. Their accommodation was just to change the food. Mistakes happen, but the way chef and restaurant manager handle mishaps is the true hallmark of a fine dining restaurant, not a pricey menu and unfriendly reservation system. read more

Wow. This place is gorgeous and delicious! I tend to have reservations around restaurants attached to hotels/resorts (usually a bit overpriced yet underdeliver in my experience) - not the case here. The restaurant overlooks the beautiful landscape of the resort. There was actually a wedding that night so sitting outside meant wedding music and beautiful lighting. It was really cold out at night but they do a great job of keeping you warm with heaters and thick warm blankets! So cozy while enjoying the atmosphere of it all. Now for the food. I had the filet with bordelaise sauce and it was buttery in texture with the sauce to compliment the flavors really well. Really tasty! The glazed carrots were sweet with a slight tang and the potatoes were just fine. The real show stopper, the rabbit pappardelle. Omg I want to get back here to have that dish again. It was so rich with creamy whipped burrata that melts right into the pasta. Yummm. The only super slight disappointment was that I made a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday yet dessert came out with no candle or anything to celebrate. Location is amazing with beautiful views. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Cocktails were a bit weak and overpriced. $21 for a watered down cocktail seems very excessive. Was charged $10 for a beer when the menu said $9. Not a big deal but annoying. My wife said her chicken was a weird cut. Portion size was also very very small. Looked more like an appetizer. The corn chowder was presented beautifully but was over-seasoned with one overpowering spice. The vegetarian gnocchi was the smallest portion I've ever had. As another reviewer has said, it was probably 5-6 actual gnocchi with a tiny handful of mushrooms. For $30+ they could have doubled the portion and still made a tidy profit. read more

I would say I am split as far as the review goes. The customer service was absolutely stellar. I loved every person that worked there. They were so nice to us and helpful. The food was good. It was my first time trying a steak medium well ( I know I know ) at the service recommendation which I appreciate and I enjoyed it. My problem was the steak was extremely extremely salty almost to the point where I'm knocking the salt off with a fork and I feel like that truly took away from the experience of actually enjoying the steak which had good texture and was cooked well. The macaroni and cheese I probably would not suggest. It is much larger than you think it is and is definitely meant as something to share with the table and not for one person to have alone as well The macaroni and cheese was quite bland. I don't see myself getting it again. My wife enjoyed her food and sadly the desert itself was absolutely just dry but to be honest, unfortunately it was nothing that really knocked our socks off. This restaurant felt like a top tier experience but our food honestly just didn't stand up to that quality and maybe it was just an off day maybe if I was to come back to lake Tahoe I would consider giving them another shot. Hidden gem! We had a party of 12 and experienced excellent food and exceptional service. I feel like everything was ordered off the menu! Each person said their meal was tremendous. Glad we had the chance to enjoy Six Peaks before the season is in full swing! Walked in on a Thursday night and we were the only ones in there besides someone at the bar. Dinner with a view of the enormous decorated trees, a fire pit and snow falling? Pretty magical. We started with the foie gras. Absolutely delicious! The brioche, apple slaw and huckleberry compote perfectly complemented the foie gras. Everything together just worked and created something so tasty. I had the lamb rack cooked medium per suggestion and it was also another hit. When this plate hit the table with two decent sized pieces, my stomach was ready for it. Seasoned well, cooked well and meaty; these ribs were a pleasure to have eaten. My boyfriend had the ribeye cooked medium rare. Every bite was tender and juicy. What's amazing is that even though it smelled amazing and there was a decent portion, it made you want to take time eating it. Don't know how, but if you're a classic meat lover the ribeye is worth getting. We also had a size of lobster mac and cheese to split. It was great but I wish it was a bit creamier. Dessert made up for this. They had pumpkin spice ice cream that night. Yes it was delicious too but what I really enjoyed was how fresh it tasted from the pumpkin. My husband and I came to Squaw Valley on our honeymoon, and with our shared love of steak, we looked extensively into steakhouses in the area. Six Peaks Grille was mentioned multiple times as a hidden gem, and we were not disappointed. I ordered my ribeye medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the Mac and cheese as a side, and it was TO DIE FOR. The wine selection was excellent, and they didn't skimp on the pour of my Cabernet. The chef's special looked wonderful, but didn't feature steak, so we didn't get it. However, the chef came to our neighbor's table, and explained why he created the dishes featured. We got to listen in a little, and we were both impressed with his storytelling. I know most people are looking for food reviews, but I also want to rave about the staff. Alexa, our waitress, was so sweet and helpful with our questions about the menu. We were visited multiple times by the manager of the restaurant, and he was so genuinely concerned with our experience being the best. He asked multiple questions about our stay in Squaw Valley, and it was delightful to feel like more than just another customer. The view was AMAZING even though we weren't there during the snowy season, and the experience was something my husband and I will never forget! 10/10 for Six Peaks Grille! read more

It's a resort restaurant. We didn't have the energy to try to brave the weather and lines in the village or Truckee, so we decided to just dine at the hotel. We didn't have great expectations. Glad we didn't. The food was mediocre at best and certainly not worth the hefty bill. The dinner rolls were squishy. We thought they may have been made with rye since they were a beautiful dark color. How could something with such color have zero taste? We ordered the tomahawk steak medium rare. It was cooked as we ordered. The meat wasn't particularly exceptional but it wasn't bad either. We also ordered the grilled asparagus and little gem salad. There were 4 sad stalks on a plate. The little gem looked more like a full size romaine and had an extremely sweet glaze on it. I felt like I was eating a lollipop. The waffle fries were over cooked and extremely salty. We shouldn't have ordered dessert but wanted to cleanse our palate. The sorbet flavors sounded interesting. One tiny golfball size of sorbet arrived. Definitely not worth the price. We should have just gotten a popsicle at the hotel cafe store. I will say that the staff were extremely professional and friendly. So this hidden gem in Tahoe is remarkable! Chef knows what he's doing. My filet mignon special with roasted beet sauce was a plate licker!!! I do that sort of thing when my mind is blown. lol Perfectly medium rare, instagram photo shoot worthy center and presentation. I didn't have the patience to try and get a photo b/c I wanted to dig in right away. Hubby had an amazing American Wagyu that rocked his socks off, too! We had a bottle of Jordan Cab and craft cocktails made from the hydroponic garden on display. All in all a 5 Star meal. Overall a good experience. My family and I came here for dinner during ski season. The food was good and service pleasant. Excellent interior ambience facing the windows; a nice pricier dining option near the Village. We ordered the truffle fries ($9), coffee crusted duck ($16), 6oz filet mignon ($36), spaghetti squash ($24), lamb rack ($48), and side of roasted carrots ($9) for three adults. My sister and I shared an orange trifle for dessert. Among these dishes, the coffee crusted duck, filet mignon, and roasted carrots were particularly exceptional. I also recommend the vegan squash as a tasty meat-free option. The lamb was requested at medium rare, but arrived looking very bloody and undercooked; the waitress assured us it's appearance due to the sous vide cooking method, but we asked for it to be cooked more anyway. The resort at Squaw is a favorite winter destination of mine and my recent experience truly cemented it as a personal favorite and highly recommended resort to all of my friends and family. The crab appetizer was simply divine. I can't say enough about the quality of service. Our waiter, Brice, was incredibly attentive and had the best suggestions. Every restaurant could use employees like him! From the wine, to the appetizers, to the main course - even the desert suggestions were spot on! The hits: ambiance, location, views (during the day), the foie gras starter, the scallop starter, the server, the lobster tails, the Halibut (fish du jour), the sides (though portions were small). The misses: pricey, steaks under-seasoned, steaks would be better cooked under higher heat, the wine list (arguably mis-describes certain vines, I got a Toscana for what I thought would be be a Chianti), the wagyu (just not very good), very limited selection of starters, missing key sauces (e.g., no Hollandaise, no Bearnaise), putting the Halibut atop black-eyed peas, and the pace of the service -- our very nice server was pretty overwhelmed and everything took too long to happen. Overall, I'd go again as on balance it was a positive experience -- but there were plenty of very positive combined with some pretty negative things in the mix. read more

I went there on a company event, so we had a catered menu, with all amazing food. The plating was very classy, and beyond anything I expected. There was a shrimp appetizer with with a syringe to pour yuzu sauce, and it came with avocado puree and crumbled feta. The combination was just perfect! There was also a grilled peach dish which looked amazing but I didn't get to try. The gnocci was a slight disappointment. They had a chicken pasta dish, and the chef was more than willing to cook me some chicken and veggies only since I couldn't have the pasta part. Chicken was very fresh! The sirloin steak, a perfectly cooked medium, came with creamy spinach and a mushroom curry. I wasn't too big a fan of the spinach though. There was also a cold bar of assorted breads, cheeses, vegetables and hummus. The garlic hummus was to die for, as were the asparagus and peppers. So many dessert options. My favorite was definitely the white and milk chocolate fondue and the cake cubes for dipping. read more

We reserved Six Peaks Grille for our anniversary dinner and I would say everything was perfect. For drinks we had KT22 and Emigrant Peak. Since they knew it was our wedding anniversary we were served a couple of complimentary champagne as well. For starter we had Little Gem Salad Lettuces and Skillet Bread with butter. For the main course we had 14 Oz. Grilled Niman Ranch Rib Eye with a side of Four Cheese Mac & Cheese. My wife got Oven Roasted Mary's Chicken with a side of Truffle Fries. For desert we shared a Rhubarb Crumble with a couple of Cappuccino coffees. Now it's time to appreciate the staff who were very attentive, friendly provided a top notch service. On September 9, 2022, we had our wedding event for 40 people at the Grille. We could not have been happier with the experience! Our guests were given the choice of various appetizers and entrees, plus an open bar. Everyone at the event raved about the food and drinks. At large group events, one might expect that some dishes would suffer. Not this time. Everything was delicious and our guests went out of their way to tell us how good the food was, not to mention the excellent and attentive service. We had also dined there in July to sample various dishes in anticipation of our wedding. Everything we tried was wonderful, so we offered our guests a choice of four entrees. I'd like to add that the portion sizes were huge, something one doesn't always expect at a higher-end restaurant. Michelle S., the manager of the restaurant, was fantastic in helping us plan the event, including some unexpected last minute surprises (a massive fire not far from Tahoe!). We moved the event indoors with no problems whatsoever. The bartender and the servers could not have been better. We had a specially-made wedding cake prepared on-site, and that was excellent too. Everyone commented how exquisite it was. My understanding is that anyone dining at the restaurant can get valet parking validated. I look forward to going back soon. Truly the best food I've ever had in the Tahoe area. The Foie Gras was amazing - didn't even get a pic of it, just dove in. This was the best dish on the menu but we did not try any of the steaks. My Scallops were ok - not very creative on the sauce (mushroom au jus - little salty and bland). Cornish Game Hen was good but the Soufflé was not very much of a Soufflé - hard as a rock. One thing I did like was the choices on the kids menu - Salmon, my daughter loved it. My son had the kids Bacon Burger and it was a big portion. Dessert was good - I really enjoyed the Deconstructed Baklava. With the snow capped mountains in the background and the roaring waterfall going through the property, the ambience was fantastic. I went against type here and skipped the red meat, opting for scallops. I thought they were quite good, avoiding both overseasoning and overcooking (common scallop-ruining occurrences). Wow fantastic new chef! We've been here a few times over the last 2 years, and the food has never been exceptional like this. My husband was super happy with the 28 day dry aged ribeye, asparagus, and duck fat potatoes. I'm vegan and was very happy with the risotto. Their previous vegan entree was a disappointment. Also, the cocktails seem to have improved as well. We loved the emigrant cocktail, yum! Also, excellent service which is sooo hard to find these days.
