I have no idea what I ordered, but my customers complimented me on the excellent food. The counter person spoke some english, but I still have no idea what was in the kolaches I bought. The "hot dogs" were spicy and tasty, which is what was your standard kolache, but the pastry part was more bread like. I had my customer's receptionist tell me this was the best kolache she had every eaten. I put them up there, but my favorites are still filled/stuffed, not sausages. The second batch, filled/ non sausage were about the size of 1/3 a canteloupe. BIG. Like cut it in half and wear it as a hat big. The ingredients were described as "yellow filling" and "something viet-english sounding word don't ask me". I just did what they do to me when I am ordering food in a restaurant, nod and smile. Gimme 12. Excellent packaging! Each item was individually placed in a plastic sleeve that could be closed. Great touch! I will go back again. I'm writing a review for the location in Dunhuang Plaza. There are four locations, just making sure. We love this bakery and come regularly. They have a wide variety of bread to choose from, as well as cakes, egg tarts, macaroons etc. They bake everything fresh and we love it! They have nice buns!! (Pun intended) Anyway this is located in a very dense area. Good luck finding parking space unless you go in that tunnel thingy (I don't know what it's called). The buns are on point. They are what they are. Nothing craaazy amazing but it's pretty good! I mostly go here to get the little cakes by the cashier. Now that is crazy amazing!!!!!! The cake is soo airy! Nothing like a typical cake where you take a few bites and then you get sick of it! The cakes just melt in your mouth and combined with the frosting is like a edible fluffy cloud!! I recommend the "dark forest" if I could recall... Which is basically chocolate but like the AWESOMEST chocolate cake ever!! Definitely check this place out! Also a bonus for me is they played kpop!!! They sell spoiled foods. I bought three cream puffs today. The cream custard fillings have very Sour taste. I have had a cream puff from 6 pings before and they were nothing like today's cream puffs. I called them and conveyed what I discovered. The young lady who answered phone was talking to someone in their language and all of sudden she hanged up the phone... I called back. The man with heavy Chinese accent answered phone stating he had tried a cream puff and nothing was wrong... I told him they were bad. He accused me I didn't eat right away after purchasing cream puffs.... I said I just bought them 15 minutes ago. I won't go back there again. I don't see any "care" of what happened. I hope the owner of the place will read my post and rethink about quality assurance of his or her products. There are no indications of when and what time any of their breads were made. Where I am from( Japan) always have time and date of breads were baked and recommend expiration date. I am disappointed what happened. I used like their breads. Came here about a week ago. Saturday nights in ChinaTown are CRAZY. The entire shopping center was packed. My bf and I stopped by here. It was around 9. And the coolers looked to have been a little scant (people bought everything earlier in the day). They have an ok selection. We got a marble like cake with cream inside & 2 large macaroons. The macaroons were a little dry/hard. It was close to 9pm and if they've been on the shelf all day, maybe that's expected. But the flavors honestly you can't tell one from the other. Lots and lots of Chinese bakery goods. The selections are well decorated and very eye pleasing. However, I prefer the old fashion Cantonese sweets such as egg custard and pinapple bun which Six Ping did not make or had in stock. I will stick with King Bakery across the parking lot. read more

We came in just before they closed and remained after they may have wanted to lock the doors. Then again, a bunch of other people stopped in after we did. Just to clarify, this is the location in Dun Huang Plaza. If you're having trouble finding parking or getting through traffic on Bellaire, you can park near the Denny's on W Sam Houston Pkwy, walk back towards the hotel and through the gate. Takes about 5 minutes. Anyway, we've been here one or two times - very clean and well-lit, and everything being individually wrapped means you can easily pick up and put down most items to take a closer look. The custard buns (with the sesame seeds on top) are cheap at $1.35 each, and the filling is so rich that you can easily cut one in half to share or eat later. They also have chilled desserts that range from $2 to $5 per piece, but you'd probably pay double that in a restaurant, so if you've eaten lunch or dinner nearby this is a great place to get dessert. l'll probably update my review when I've tried one of their cakes. The ones on display look great, but since I want to try the one with the mango slices (there are photos of it for the other locations - go look if you haven't!) I'm going to wait until the fruit is in season. read more

This place was fun! I'm a first timer here as well. It had the same concept as a bakery. Where you pick up a tray and start looking at the shelves they have running along the wall. We got about 3 things and it was 5 bucks. Which you have to pay cash because they don't except credit cards for anything under ten dollars. The variety is great they have so much stuff and they all look so pretty. And beautifully made. From baked stuff to cold thinks like tarts be puddings I guess lol read more

I was looking for Kamalan Bakery and couldn't find it in the plaza and saw Six Ping instead.. decided to just try it out cause I was looking for pastries for my aunt for Chinese New Year. I bought a box of a ton of pastries and it ended up being ~$30. Definitely cheap for everything that you get. You basically just go in, grab a tray, start filling it with goodies and then they ring you up at the counter. I bought these as a gift but I only tried a few items.. the coffee sponge cake was delicious!!! I love love love sponge cake and this one did not disappoint. It was spongy, tasted like coffee, and very moist and fantastic!!! My boyfriend got some walnut and fig cake (kind of like a moon cake) and I did not like the filling for this or the pineapple cake at all. They tasted very artificial. My red bean cake was decent though, I can't say I like it better than some of the moon cakes I've had at other places though. Overall, it was a decent bakery with lots of selections. Maybe some of the other pastries were good but I didn't taste them so I don't have an opinion. The swiss rolls and birthday cakes looked fantastic though. read more

Cheap, quality Asian bread! I recently started coming to Six Ping in hopes that it would be cheaper, without much sacrifice to quality, than other Asian bakeries (Tous Les Jours - I'm looking at you). While there is less variety, Six Ping definitely has quality bread. Most breads average around ~$1.50 and are HUGE. Conveniently the names of the breads are written in English as well as Chinese, so don't shy away if you don't know Chinese. I like all the pastries with red bean and the coffee cake! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the pastries here. read more

Just a warning: this is the worst Six Ping location of them all. I've been coming here for years with my family and have always found the buns here to be made very inconsistently, with plenty of ugly lookin breads uncharacteristic of Six Ping, poor tasting fillings, and skimped out fillings. They're extremely disorganized as well, with missing labels everywhere and lots of breads in the wrong place. It's way too common to find out your bread turned out to have the wrong filling than the one you thought later. I had a pretty negative impression of Six Ping for so long because we kept coming here. So please, go to the Six Ping location nearby in the Jusgo supermarket plaza instead. Much higher quality bread making there :D read more

I think they have great Black Forest cake here. My coworker bought one for a fellow employee's birthday and I thought it was just perfect. The cake was light and fluffy and they use whipped cream which I love because I cannot stand buttercream to save my life!!! Tried their red bean cake which tasted like a moon cake. Their crispy almond thin cookies and coconut bread is good. Pretty reasonably prices for the goodies. I think those giant macarons are pretty darn cute, too. read more

The cake is cute and it taste good. There's nothing to complain about the quality. However, it would be so much better if the service is improved. What i mean here is the cashier. Idk what's wrong with her but her attitude to me and my friend was bad. She didn't even mind talking to us or say thank you. I've been working in service industry. Horrible experience. Like many fund the missing label problem, I too was puzzled. While waiting on line I took a coffee thinking it was free for costumers, only end up being informed it cost 1$. When I pointed out that no indication of price was there, The employee had the decency to educate me only banks have free coffee while reversing the price tag ( I guess some product has to share the price label with coffee for cost saving). I had a mixed bag, I guess. I loved the green onion and pork bread, taro bread, chocolate cake. Was "eh" about the egg custard. And really didn't like the pork bread. And the honey sugar bread didn't have much flavor, it was just flaky but no honey taste and not very sweet. I'd still go back and try more because they have a large selection and I really wanted to try something from the refrigerators. My husband and I came to this location to order birthday cakes for my daughter and mom. We tried their pandan cake at a friend's birthday party and really liked it because it was light and not too sweet! The two options we ordered were pandan flavor with tiramisu and fruit/custard filling, both of which were delicious. It was difficult to order via phone so we had to go there and order in person. Unfortunately you can't glean very much information from their website either. But the service was great and the employee there made it very easy for us to order. We came there on a weekday evening and it didn't look like they had very many cake options to choose from (we were not offered a photo book/menu to see what their full range of options were, so we just pointed to what was there on the shelf). They had it ready on time and they even came with large plastic cutting knives (kind of flimsy so we just used ours) and candles too! It was great that they included their thin specialty candles since the cakes had a lot of toppings and it was difficult to place regular candles on them. The cakes we ordered came with all kinds of toppings (Ferrero Rochers, fruits, white chocolate shards, etc.) which was a big hit for everyone! I'd definitely recommend this place for birthday cakes! Only suggestion I have for them is to include all of their cake options on their website or have printed and available for customers in the store. read more
