A first time experience at a seemingly "dennys" style restaurant had my expectations low. Especially on a Sunday evening with multiple family members. Our orders ranged from a burger to a 8oz sirloin. My family and I were fairly satisfied with the food and the taste of each item. We indulged especially on the garlic toast which was better than it looked. The salad bar was slightly subpar but it had multiple selections which isn't much to complain about. As far as the service, our waiter Ramses gave the best service I've had in years. My family was pleasantly satisfied with this young man's mannerisms and politeness. Are Monday dinner here and I loved it! I was craving fir a prime rib steak and I saw the watermelon strawberry drink, it was soooo satisfying as all sizzlers are. I don't know how this sizzlers is still open at this point. My husband and I both decided to try sizzlers out after not having tried it for a few years. We were small children the last time we had it (23 now) and I loved going back every time. I've never been to sizzlers in Visalia until today and unfortunately we won't be going back. It's been "remodeled" but I honestly don't see how because it looks plain once you move past the front where you pay. The "clean" dishes are dirty, it definitely doesn't look like any sizzlers I've ever been to, it's stale looking inside and the food is horrendous. We were attended to once by a server as soon as we sat down and never again. They looked to be understaffed as well but there was only a little bit of customers inside the building. I honestly wouldn't feed this food to my dog and he loves anything that's human food. The food was made very poorly, reheated in two microwaves, nothing was fresh, and tasted like it came from the dollar store. Dollar store probably has better tasting food... It's overly expensive for what you get. As I walked out, I seen everyone's plates and felt terrible for the customers and embarrassed for the company and how much they charge for plates with such small portions. A couple of hours after leaving, I started to feel sick and vomited. My husband got a stomach ache. Being pregnant, I couldn't take any chances so I've decided to go to the hospital. I also forgot to mention that with my belly, it was sort of hard to sit comfortably in a booth since they are a very tight fit. It's not the first time it's happened at a restaurant while being pregnant so it's not a big deal but the booths are really small that my husband could barely fit. I really wish I liked this sizzlers and tried giving them a chance but I just have nothing good to say about it, unfortunately. $40 for two adults was not worth it just for salad bar and one soda alone.. There was no good options to choose from. Thankfully we were refunded for the food poisoning going on but it's honestly not worth it. Save your money and go elsewhere. But I am sad to say... the food was about two and a half stars and since Yelp doesn't have a place to go for half stars... I have to go lower rather than up. I can't believe that I am only giving Sizzler two stars. I loved them. It was my first waitressing job years ago... but the food quality is just not the same, The hibachi chicken was so dry, I didn't finish it and the hibachi sauce is defintely not the same. It was so watered down and definitely not the same. The hot selection at the salad bar was pitiful from any of the old ones I remember and the dessert... well, yuck! I mean if you are'nt serious just offer the soft icecream machine and be done with it.. WHAT the heck was that other stuff??? I will never understand why sizzlers always bring out your steak wayyy too early before u can even begin eating your salad. I could give this spot a 0 I would. So disappointed with how this place has become I used to love coming here and now it's just a dump. Very little options for burnt, dry food and the salad looked like it had been sitting there for a while. The service was Excellent! I would've easily given 4 stars but the portions were a bit too small! The taste was on point with the exception of a rib eye that was a little over cooked. Best yet the clientele are nice and not overwhelming. The salad bar is not messy and fully stocked at all times. Drinks are flavorful and are never out. Way over priced. The total for 2 adults 1 senior and 2 kids was over $50. And that wasn't including the tip plus we went early afternoon on a Friday. We got 2 adult endless buffets, 1 kids buffet, 1 chicken nugget meal and a senior meal. They took chicken nuggets off the buffet and made that a meal option which I dont like because now they charge $3.99 just to add the endless salad bar to meals. Which I think is outrageous. Also a heads up the prices are more during dinner hours and on Sundays. The table we sat on was sticky even after we had them clean it. They really need to get new tables or clean them better. It was our first time to go back to Sizzler in two years we ordered the senior salad bars. The salad bar was empty of several item yes I went back 20 minutes latter and yes still empty. The server finally came to the table and got our drinks and we asked for bread which we got but that's it we never saw anyone again. The salt and pepper on the table were empty and grabbing the almost empty salt on another table looked gross and old. It was sad we don't mind paying for food but not garbage. Very slow service . Took forever to order only one person at check in and she left for about 5 minutes with a line going out of the door. We had to tell her our order 3 times and she still got it wrong. Soup bar had 2 soups not much of a choice. They put in one of our meals as an unlimited shrimp and steak meal ( more $) rather than try to start over my husband said he'd take that except they never came back to give him more shrimp. Before Covid you could always count on Sizzler to have a delicious little steak and baked potato. My husband and I went when they opened back up when Covid got better. It was my first time and ABSOLUTELY my Last Time of going to that place. My husband ordered Steak and Lobster, and I was not very hungry so I decided just to have some soup and the girl who took our order charged us for 2 salad bar when I asked her why she told we are charging salad bars to the number of people. Hands down one of the top 5 worst meals I've ever tried to consume. We ordered the steak and Sriracha shrimp with a baked potato. The steak was chewy and flavorless, the shrimp was dry and flavorless, the baked potato was mush, the salad (from the salad bar) was wilted with some sort of mustard yellow discoloration, the banana pudding shots were inedible, the bread was only toasted on one side and the cookies tasted like old biscuits. The only things I was actually able to eat were the chicken wings and the vanilla soft serve-- even that was testing my gag reflex. The service was mediocre at best, the first round of silverware was dirty and the restaurant was filthy. To top it off my boyfriend witnessed a cook leave the restroom, after using it, without washing his hands. Dis-gust-ing. I've never had this kind of experience at any Sizzler location and was shocked at how busy the restaurant was, considering the awful food. I don't know if this is the only "sit down" restaurant in Visalia, but I do know that if we ever pass through this town again and happen to be hungry we'll look for a McDonalds or any other drive thru before entering those doors again. The only pro-- the young man who rang us up when we entered was very efficient, kind and pretty funny. This place hasn't changed since I was a kid the food is still meh at best and the decor is out dated most of the staff wonder around like a chicken with their head cut off once and a while you get a decent waiter/waitress the salad bar is usually not taken care of very well most of the time things are either empty or at the bottom of the pan and cold they seriously need to step up their game and try a little harder I know it's a chain but damn wow way to lose customers! Then when you sit down the servers bring you your drink and a choice of sweet potato or sweet potato fries, sour dough bread. Sizzler has definitely been affected by the pandemic as far as the quality of their food goes. Yesterday my family and I had the lunch buffet. My husband added some ribs and I chose some beef skewers. Our bill was $86 for 4 people. A little high but we had been looking forward to eating here since everything closed down last year. Horrible choice to say the least. Food was cold, selection was minimal, staff was practically unseen. Our server only came twice; to bring our drinks and bring napkins that I asked for. He didn't pick up any used plates. We were ignored and others had him at their table constantly. My husband left him a whole $1 but honestly he didn't even deserve that..There was barely any food to choose from.... c'mon now mini corn dogs and chicken nuggets?!
