We chose this restaurant after checking out reviews and getting a recommendation from our hotel's clerk. We are glad we did. We arrived a bit after 5 pm, too late to take advantage of early bird food specials but in time for happy hour (which ends at 6). This gave us 2-for-1 pricing on draft beer and house wine. We were seated immediately. By the time we left (around 6:30) there was a wait. We ordered drinks, and these and rolls were delivered with cinnamon butter and pats of plain butter. I ordered the Tuesday special, grouper "fingers," salad (soup is also a choice), and a sweet potato. My husband had linguine with chicken. Our server, Carmen, offered cinnamon butter for my sweet potato. Salad is tossed and plated at the table. It arrived well ahead of the entrées. We had the house-made ranch dressing. Overall, it was a pretty bland salad, mostly iceberg lettuce. The grouper was wonderful, lightly breaded and the perfect crispness. The portion of 3 filets was more than adequate. A small tub of Ken's tartar sauce was included. The cinnamon butter and sweet potato made an excellent combination and a great foil for the grouper. Everything was piping hot when it arrived. I wouldn't hesitate to order this combination again. My husband enjoyed his linguine. Given it was about an hour between when we were seated and when the entrées arrived, we thought the pace was rather slow. But the quality and quantity of food made up for it in my opinion. read more

I would've never thought that Lake Wales has this gem. Although it's spacious and holds a lot of people, it still feels welcoming with attentive staff, art, decor and something to look at in every wall/table. The food was fresh and delicious, from the soft-warm-fluffy rolls to the creamy mouth watering cheesecake. The crab cake in the broiled platter was my favorite. My only complain will be that the cocktail and tartar sauce was not freshly made as it was from a packet and that the salad was previously frozen as some of the lettuce didn't thaw all the way. Nonetheless I will definitely return to enjoy another dish. read more

We were just passing through and decided to stop in. We arrived around 4:30 and were seated right away. We sat in the middle room, which had a fun and inviting atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive, and they brought out salad and breadsticks with our dinner. The grouper dinner special was delicious, and my sister absolutely loved her lamb chops. Service from Jacob was excellent! Ambiance is like a relaxed/informal diner atmosphere with tables and booths. Sat in the backmost booth and had just the right amount of attentive yet unrushed service. I had the Athenian Salad with grilled chicken. It was delicious. The dressing is an olive oil with crushed olives in it. It was pleasantly mild. Others in my party had the Athenian Salad with blackened chicken (also delicious but it was spicier than expected) and the shrimp special with mixed veggies. The shrimp was good but a bit salty. The mixed veggies were not really a hit. Overall, the meal was made great by the quick friendly service. Recommend you give this place a try. read more

Very clean and I believe the different rooms in the restaurant were themed. We ordered hamburgers, salads, fish bites & shrimp. Overall the food was decent. Fish bites were fried to perfection and lightly battered. Big portion but overall flavor was good but nothing exciting. I could be wrong but the burger seemed to be a premade patty and again good but nothing to make me think wow. All the food was about the same.. good but nothing above average. We are here today at 2:30pm. There were only two other tables occupied. We were seated fairly quickly and then we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally Laurel came over and we gave her our drink orders. She was friendly but not in a hurry. Waters, a spicy Bloody Mary and a margarita. Also two orders of fish and chips. When she brought our drinks, my Bloody Mary had a ton of horseradish in it. I like horseradish, it was just a bit too much. I ate one of the olives and spit it out immediately. It tasted like pine sol cleaner. I had no clue what was happening. The drink itself wasn't horrible but what happened to the olives?! My companion said the margarita was good. Two rather dull dinner rolls were served. No side plates. A dirty knife. When the fish and chips came everything was fine. The fish was very hot and tasty. The fries were lukewarm and ok. I liked the decor but something just felt off. Overall, I might give this place a second chance if I was forced. But it wouldn't be my pick! read more

Kayla was our server and she made sure we never wanted for a thing- and never ran out of our drinks- she's GREAT!! If you get the house salad, it has hard boiled eggs and cheese and cucumbers and tomatoes, tossed table-side with a mayo dressing- delicious! We got the fried seafood platter- AMAZING crab cake AND shrimp AND scallops- the whole plate was super- hot and fried golden brown- but not greasy at all! We also got the honey mustard chicken sandwich with fries. The honey mustard is Ken's brand- but I'm not even mad about it, lol- the chicken is juicy and the fries are TO DIE FOR!! First of all our server Ashley was amazing. It seemed like we were the only table she waited on. Extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the entire menu. She really went over and above to ensure we had an excellent experience. Our party of four all had seafood that night and all were extremely pleased with our fish. I had Blacked Grouper which was perfectly seasoned and flaky with a huge loaded baked potato. My wife and I shared an ample slice of NY Cheesecake with a delicious raspberry sauce. Where do I start? The food was less than edible. We ordered the special bikini shrimp. It came out cold. We sent it back. They nuked it so now it was warm, but the shrimp was overcooked. My baked potato was cold. Service was less than adequate. The young lady had to be asked several times for basics catch-up to go containers. Food is fine if you don't care about what you're getting. They gave us the wrong type of steak and couldn't cook it right. If you just like some slop served to you, then this is your place. The waitress was very uninterested and unskilled in what the food was supposed to look like or the type of cut of meat that should have been served. If you like globs of ranch on your salad, you are in luck too as this place will give you the ranch even when you don't ask. I would not recommend this place and will not dine there again. read more

Don't do it. I have been to this restaurant a few times on Monday's as Crazy Fish is closed on this day. I generally sit at the bar for dinner. The food is average, however they do have some fresh fish which is nice. I went today, 5/8/23 and sat at the bar for 10-12 minutes including asking the hostess twice if the bar was open for dinner. The answer was obviously yes. After a reasonable time, now 15 minutes, I left, told the staff I enjoyed it, and went to Chili's. My family and I dined here recently as it had been highly recommended by friends. The restaurant is located on Highway 27 in Lake Wales. I'm told it recently was acquired and is under new ownership. I'm not quite sure what the hype is about. The food was good but not outstanding. Also the prices were a little high for Polk County. They do not seat you until your entire party arrives so three of the five people in my party waited while my son and I were 10 minutes late. Upon being seated it took several minutes for our server to come and talk to us. By the time she did arrive we were able to not only order our drinks but our entire meals. The really sad part is that it seems the kitchen lost our ticket and it took nearly an hour for food to come out after we ordered it. My preschooler actually yelled at the server and said where is my spaghetti and why is it taking so long? Thankfully our server was very kind and went and got my sons food earlier but we still waited another 20 minutes for everybody else's food afterwards. My steak was good but not outstanding. It was cooked well and I really enjoyed that I could get linguine with marinara or Alfredo sauce with my steak. The Caesar salad was also quite good but it had way too much dressing. I practically never say some thing has too much dressing so it really had a lot of dressing if I thought it was too much! Everyone else had the house salad which is served with a ranch. My family remarked that the ranch dressing was actually quite good. The rolls were good when they were hot but very lackluster once they cooled off. They were served with cinnamon butter and plain butter. Two of the three steaks were well cooked. One was a little under but it had taken so long to get our food that we did not argue over it. Not bad, just not grouper, I don't think. Service was really good. Food came out fast and hot. I know restaurants really can't help the cost of everything but eating out really has become a once a week thing and I had hoped for a little better quality of the fish. I'm sure their other items are good, but most meals were close to $20 for lunch and just not wanting to spend $50 for lunch for two the day before Father's Day.
