French Onion Soup with Bread
Brandy D.

We were just passing through and decided to stop in. We arrived around 4:30 and were seated right away. We sat in the middle room, which had a fun and inviting atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive, and they brought out salad and breadsticks with our dinner. The grouper dinner special was delicious, and my sister absolutely loved her lamb chops. Overall, it was a great experience and a pleasant surprise during our travels.

Athenian Salad with grilled chicken

Service from Jacob was excellent! Ambiance is like a relaxed/informal diner atmosphere with tables and booths. Sat in the backmost booth and had just the right amount of attentive yet unrushed service. I had the Athenian Salad with grilled chicken. It was delicious. The dressing is an olive oil with crushed olives in it. It was pleasantly mild. Others in my party had the Athenian Salad with blackened chicken (also delicious but it was spicier than expected) and the shrimp special with mixed veggies. The shrimp was good but a bit salty. The mixed veggies were not really a hit. Overall, the meal was made great by the quick friendly service. Recommend you give this place a try.

Margarita

We are here today at 2:30pm. There were only two other tables occupied. We were seated fairly quickly and then we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally Laurel came over and we gave her our drink orders. She was friendly but not in a hurry. Waters, a spicy Bloody Mary and a margarita. Also two orders of fish and chips. When she brought our drinks, my Bloody Mary had a ton of horseradish in it. I like horseradish, it was just a bit too much. I ate one of the olives and spit it out immediately. It tasted like pine sol cleaner. I had no clue what was happening. The drink itself wasn't horrible but what happened to the olives?! My companion said the margarita was good. Two rather dull dinner rolls were served. No side plates. A dirty knife. When the fish and chips came everything was fine. The fish was very hot and tasty. The fries were lukewarm and ok. I liked the decor but something just felt off. Overall, I might give this place a second chance if I was forced. But it wouldn't be my pick!

Homemade pecan cheesecake- OMG this crust!!!!

Delicious food, fast and friendly service and a cute, quaint, clean ambiance! This little Lake Wales GEM is THE PLACE to go to after a day at Bok Tower and Gardens! Kayla was our server and she made sure we never wanted for a thing- and never ran out of our drinks- she's GREAT!! If you get the house salad, it has hard boiled eggs and cheese and cucumbers and tomatoes, tossed table-side with a mayo dressing- delicious! We got the fried seafood platter- AMAZING crab cake AND shrimp AND scallops- the whole plate was super- hot and fried golden brown- but not greasy at all! We also got the honey mustard chicken sandwich with fries. The honey mustard is Ken's brand- but I'm not even mad about it, lol- the chicken is juicy and the fries are TO DIE FOR!! We finished with the pecan cheesecake- homemade, in-house- wow. And I don't even like cheesecake!! This is our go-to place when out this way. They get busy at the early dinner time, so there may be a wait, butttt, IT'S WORTH IT!!! GO HERE!!!

We went on a Wednesday night only to learn they have a buy one/get one deal on Fajitas. Oddly enough, I had just been talking about how I hadn't had fajitas in a while so I gave them a go. My son didn't want them, so since they were buy one/get one, I took the other in a to-go container in case we got hungry later. What a great deal! They were decent fajitas. Be sure to ask for salsa since it doesn't come with it and jalapenos if you like them. My son had the prime rib and it had good flavor, but a little too much fat. The really good part is the rolls...warm and they come with cinnamon butter...yummy! The salad they make in front of you is really good with delicious dressing. And for you sweet tea lovers, the tea is pretty good too. Our server was Bambi and she was very friendly. All the servers seem to be super busy in there, so you may have to wait a bit on refills and such. There are clean restrooms and the parking lot is more than ample, but it's really dark in the evening so be careful when traveling alone. Note: I don't like it when the check comes with tip suggestions on it. I find it to be unjust. Moreover, I find it to be a tad outrageous when said tip suggestions include the tax. In fairness, right on their check is states, "Tip percentages are based on the check price after taxes". But why? The tip should be based on the subtotal before taxes and any discounts if applicable. Not to mention...the thing that always matters the most is service and the food...and that can go either way (up or down from the norm and/or baseline of 15%). I get in a "mood" instantly when I see these suggestions, especially when they include the tax. End Note: Speaking of discounts...yes I asked, there aren't any...so now you know...

They were steadily busy throughout the evening so a wait is possible if you were to arrive at peak time. The setting is casual and in an old house- hence the name. If you ask to be seated in the back room, you'll have a view of the lake. The servers were very friendly and efficient. Food and drinks were prompt! We shared the onion loaf to start and had a variety of dishes around the table from steak, lobster tails, grouper, scallops, and the multitude of accompaniments. Everything was cooked beautifully! Especially the scallops. That was probably my favorite since they melted like butter in the mouth. I also enjoyed the hush puppies that were served with every main dish. Bonus points for the fact that many of the dressings and sauces are made in house. Since it was an occasion, we had some chocolate cake for dessert which didn't disappoint. The cake was rich and fudgy. My dad is a regular so I am definitely sold. The man is a critic and if he is impressed, I know something must be good! The only thing that stayed the same was the name. The entrance is now off the parking lot -- rather than through the back porch or (former) front door. You enter into the bar/counter room. You have to wait to be seated. There's a large board with specials and market prices. If you haven't been here -- as we had not -- since the changes, the prices may come as a shock. Some fish are in the 30 and 40 dollar ranges. We saw several people see the prices and then leave. The free hush puppies and coleslaw are no longer. Even iced tea is now almost $4 a glass -- with no refills suggested or offered. I missed that they no longer have fried oysters, too. My husband was able to find his "go to" shrimp basket still on the menu. This was a decent price. And the shrimp were still lightly battered and tasty. It came with fries and coleslaw. I didn't care for the coleslaw -- a bit too much mayo for me. I got their shrimp and grits. The grits were in one solid cake. A rectangle that had been cubed and fried. They were just okay. A bit hard. The shrimp were good and the gravy not bad. But I wouldn't order this again. The dish comes with a side. They don't tell you, but some of the sides are considered "premium" and there will be an up charge. Make sure you ask so you're not surprised. The "crazy" in their name is now more appropriate. They really should offer a few reasonably priced lunch specials. We did not expect to have a $60 lunch (after tax and tip) -- especially not here in Lake Wales. But I'm glad we came and tried. Now we know.

Sir is host, server, possibly chef, and I'm 90% sure he rotated the earth slightly to speed up our service. Patrick sold me on the Prime Rib sandwich like a seasoned car salesman and I folded immediately. Ross got the loaded smokehouse sandwich because he likes to pretend he makes responsible decisions. The food came out fast and looking disrespectfully good. I blacked out somewhere between bite one and "I should stop." I did not stop. I have no regrets. My diet has filed a missing persons report. And let's circle back to Patrick--this man has the energy of three employees, a double espresso, and unresolved childhood dreams. I want whatever he's having. I would follow him into battle... or at least back for dessert. As The Terminator once said, "I'll be back." Mostly because I found out Patrick works Wednesday-Saturday... and apparently those are now my "nutritional delusion" days. Would 100% trust my GPS to ruin my plans again.

Looking at the reviews already posted makes this place seem bipolar. Maybe it has everything to do with the day of the week, the cooks/chefs on staff and/or managers/wait staff present. This was a Saturday, so.... The better half wanted to sit indoors and the DIL outdoors. A compromise was made and the table selected was in between. The service was exceptional by our waitress (I wish we could recall her name). A solo musician played mellow music and had good vocals. Very relaxing atmosphere. All the food ordered was tasty and abundant. The highlight was the Grouper sandwich the better half raved about, even the day after she was talking about it. The meals came with a tasty brown bread and house salad, which was a nice addition. The drinks were not watered down and well made, at a price point that was quite acceptable. We all look forward to returning; but it may need to another Saturday if that's when they have the A-Team working.

The…read moreoverall vibe was chaotic, hot, humid, and sub-par cleanliness with profanity-laced dollar bills stapled all over. Florida! I'm certain the condiment bottles in scattered baskets never get cleaned. I never leave poor reviews, but potential guests must be warned of this place. My elderly aunt and I arrived at 4:10pm after driving an hour to this place for a late lunch. It was Father's Day, so the place was packed and busy. So busy, that the wait staff were frantically running around the place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young hostess who looked as if she were in a total daze. We were told there would be a wait, though an approximate time was not given, so we decided to saddle up to the bar outside which was filthy with wet coasters and squeezed lime wedges and trash littered all over the floor. When we were finally texted that our table was ready, at 4:50pm, we were sat outside at a table with a dirty ashtray. We placed our order and waited for another 30 minutes for a two salads and bread (served with "butter", which was really an oily margarine with herbs). Only one salad made it to the table, and the fried pickles were brought 10 minutes before my salad was served with nervous laughter by our waitress. The manager did come to our table to apologize for our waiting, so I politely requested a free beer for our trouble, which was denied. I work at a brewery and give free draft beer if someone has to wait more than 5 minutes! So, she offered a cheesecake instead, which we thanked her for (and which costs their business more than a free draft pour, but I digress). Another 25 minutes pass, which places us at 5:45pm, over 1.5 hours past our arrival. The food finally comes to the table. I placed two orders for hushpuppies, but only one order made it to the table. They were not very good at all. My aunt ordered shrimp with cocktail sauce, but it wasn't cocktail sauce. It was salsa! The waitress explained to us that seating had recently been expanded, but the kitchen staff had not, which was more than obvious. In the end, our food was comped 100%, but the poor experience really ruined our appetite, so we didn't finish our food. While we did have some beers and a cocktail, at no point were we offered water, and the free cheesecake the polite yet condescending manager offered never made it to the table. They didn't have the good sense to tell folks at the door that the wait time was closer to an hour, completely overwhelming themselves instead of taking care of the large parties that were already dining. Gators aren't the only thing to beware of at Cherry Pocket!

It's pirate themed and has epic Lego creations. My son loves the area where kids can play with Legos and it's nice for the parents too as it gives them a break. The food is served family style and you get a lot of bang for your buck as you can reorder as many things as you'd like. We chose the Pirate Platter which includes: a delicious salad with apples and pecan and honey bread upfront, then a platter of assorted meats such as brisket, steak, sausage, chicken, and ribs. The brisket is our favorite. It comes with green beans, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. I really wanted to try some of the vegan platter so they brought that out for me at no extra charge. For dessert, we got a pan cookie with ice cream as well as the vegan chocolate fondue with fruits and marsh mallows. All of this unlimited for only $39 per adult and $19 per child with drinks included. Delicious and such a fun dinner experience! Since I stayed at the hotel, I also came here for breakfast as it is included in the stay. Breakfast is the same across all three Legoland hotels. It's also served family style and includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, French toast or pancakes. You can add fruits, yoghurts, cereal, oatmeal at no up charge. And it also includes drinks such as coffee, milks, juices, etc. The staff was very accommodating about letting me take things to go and ordering extra stuff.

Older lady, you can tell she's been around as a waitress for a while. Kind of reminds me of like the old diner waitresses "What are you having" lol. Anyway, she was awesome. She let us pick off both options. We ordered the pirate one which is BBQ choices and we got some of the sea dog options for the seafood side. So sweet. We first got our bread. It was good. Tasted like a yeast bread. Came oiled and with sweet butter. It also came with a salad as well for the table which had cheese, tomatoes onion and greens. The salad dressing was light and sweet. The main food came. It came with ribs, flank steak, pulled pork, brisket, beans, string beans, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sausage, and shrimp. 3 sauces came with it, regular bbq, mango bbq and mustard. The mango bbq had real mango in it. Now, preface by saying I understand this isn't a 5 star Michelin chef meal and I wasn't expecting much. However, this was actually very good. The steak was very good. Not dry. The brisket was good. The ribs were good not dry. The pulled pork was dry. The salmon was good, The shrimp was good, Sausage was good, the string beans were ok, the macaroni was very heavy but good and the mashed potatoes were good. Overall I was very impressed. Then for dessert came our chocolate chip covered ice cream with heath bar bits. So very fattening.
