My family and I are giving SK Korean Steakhouse a 5 Star review. We were here for one of our family member's birthday. We have a member of our family with a food allergy and the manager and server were very helpful in accommodating my family member's needs. They were very attentive and informative about what the ingredients in each dishes. They guided us to which dishes were safe and which were not. My family were able to celebrate a special occasion in safety thanks to the diligence of the staff at SK Korean Steakhouse. The birthday boy and I enjoyed the beef spare ribs and bulgogi, pork belly, teriyaki chicken, and asparagus, while the rest of our party indulged in Hot Pot. They said the broths were so good! Each of them could indulge in their own individual spice preferences, from my youngest son's extremely mild preference with the chicken broth with ramen and spinach to my husband's love of the very hot in his Tom Yum with a selection of various seafood varieties, bok choi, mushrooms, and udon noodles. My family really enjoyed the layout of the restaurant. The side items were all located on a self serve buffet that made accessing what each member desired quick and easy. There was also an ice-cream cooler available that made it easy for our stomachs to cool the burn from the spicy selections. We visited SK Korean Steakhouse after our meeting in the area. In my opinion, this Korean BBQ spot deserves a 5 star rating as a Korean restaurant in Dawsonville, GA . However, if it were located closer to Buford or Duluth, where there are many other KBBQ spots, I would rate it a 4. Lunch AYCE ($20 for BBQ or Hot Pot | $25 for both) *You cannot find a KBBQ for $20 lunch nowadays - so at this price point, it's great! Meats are solid. The SK steak is tender and highly recommended. I also enjoyed the brisket and pork belly. The meats were good cuts, without excessive fat. The hot food items are plentiful with japchae, cheese corn, tteokbokki, chicken wings, fried rice, egg rolls, and mashed potatoes. I also saw shrimp cocktail, seaweed salad, kimbap, kimchi, and edamame. For dessert, they have fruit, banana pudding, mango jelly (yum!), and a variety of ice cream. The service was exceptional. The servers were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal. The bathrooms are clean and well-lit as you make your way there. Having lived in Korea for seven years, I a was pleased to find a Korean BBQ restaurant near my place at the lake. Great find. All you care to eat BBQ at your table for about $30. I tried the steak, the kalbi, and the Bulgogi. There is a decent salad bar where you can find plenty of rice, the leafy lettuce, the raw sliced garlic and the Sam Jang sauce you need to accompany your Korean BBQ. I'd go with the bulgogi and the kalbi. I was lucky that Na Mi from Inchon, Korea was my wait staff. She took great care of me and had some solid recommendations. She made the experience enjoyable and more authentically Korean. The tables are perfect and overall it' was a great experience. Happy to have them near the lake. Take a group and try everything. The place is nicely decorated. Our server is Super-Fantastic. Ivy is very knowledgeable of their menu items. She is very professional, friendly and authentic. She recommended the Shortribs; which is amazing. I am surprised by the size of the serving. Both Shortribs and Ribeye are full size. My highly anticipated wait is over! A hot pot/korean bbq in the Dawsonville/North Forsyth area!! Finally, somebody put one here! The location looks like a former Ryan's steakhouse and parking is plentiful. There are grand opening signs around the parking lot! I came here on a Thursday early afternoon and there wasn't many people here. Walking inside, I was super amazed by the decor as they have beautiful sea fish background with cool lighting. The owner was at the front desk and seated us right away. Our waitress was super nice and asked for our drinks immediately. We opted to get the hot pot only ATCE and the lunch menu for $20 was amazing! Surprisingly, there is a large seafood selection which includes: clams, shrimp, mussels, red clams, and squid. As far as meat, they got your typical prime brisket. Soup base, I went with beef soup base. They have a sauce bar, dessert bar, cold food bar, and a hot food bar. I was amazing at this. Hot food bar included the fried rice, fried fish, japchae, egg rolls, and seasmee chicken. The corn cheese in the hot bar was off the chain! I loved it!!! I also enjoyed the cucumbers and seaweed salad here as wel! Let me say, there sauce bar had my favorite sauce (green lime sauce) and it was amazing! I saw the other sauces they had. Everything here was super tasty including the shrimp and squid. It appeared to Be super fresh! And dipping everything in my favorite green sauce was just amazing!! They also have an ice cream cooler that you have to check out. I didn't have any because I was already full from eating all their cherry tomatoes. Service was here was amazing as wel. She was super attentive and always checking on us every 15 minutes. The hallway to the bathrrom blew me away. It's a must to see for yourself!! Wow! Great experience! SO MUCH food! We stopped for a bite and got a great meal and experience. We have had hot pots and Korean BBQ before but this is both. You can get the BBQ for $33 (adults) and the hot pot for $5 more. It was senior night so we got $5 off. We had brisket, bulgogi and pork belly on our BBQ with veggies and pineapple grilled on the side and I had Tom Yum broth and hubs had Kimchi broth with several meats and veggies in that. You get to customize it! They also have an appetizer/ dessert bar with dumplings, egg rolls, veggies, kimchis, edamame, desserts and so much more. I went with my mother & wife & we had a great time! Our server was attentive & kind, as well as the manager. The inside was very clean & had a cool modern interior with great music & televisions w/ sports games on. The food was great. We got the SK steak, spicy pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi, and short ribs. The SK steak was good, but the marinades on the pork / beef bulgogi & short ribs were incredible and were by far my favorites. My wife got the hotpot which was $5 to add-on and she loved it! The broth was flavorful & she was able to get plenty of vegetables & meat to go along with it The staff at the sauce / appetizer bar were attentive & always kept the items stocked & bar cleaned. Their yum yum & gyoza sauces were great. The appetizers we tried were also pretty good! I'd recommend the egg rolls & crab rangoons! This would be a great place to bring people who are new to Korean BBQ or hotpot. The non-stick grill covers & electric grills made it very easy to cook the food without sticking or burning it which can sometimes be a pain at other KBBQ spots. It was also unique to have an appetizer / sauce bar available. It was nice because we got to create our own sauce mixes & get as much as we wanted without having to constantly bother the wait staff to get something like at other KBBQ spots. Overall, we had a great experience! The staff were friendly & always checked on us, the ability to self-serve on appetizers & sauces was nice. Most importantly, the food was delicious! We'll be back for sure! NOTE: Korean BBQ is a BUFFET-style meal w/ a varied selection of meats & appetizers. We were all blown away by how great it looks inside. The place looks like it doesn't belong there as it's so modern. Had my daughter's 16th Birthday lunch here with the family, was my first time eating here and it was a fantastic experience. The staff are wonderful, friendly and prompt (I feel the need to emphasize wonderful.) The food was great. The atmosphere is very fresh and new to me, and clean too, love what they did with the old Ryan's building. 10/10 would recommend and we will be visiting more often. You can't beat the price, either! Then our waitress was incredibly kind and helpful with my elderly parents that were trying the Korean Bbq experience for the first time. If you're fortunate to have Ivy as your server, it'll make the experience all the better, as she's charming and attentive. Next, this place is clean, and the buffet section tidy, and plentiful. Finally the meat, and veg was nice and fresh, well marinated and delicious. They were quick to bring more and clean up the excess. Ok I want to be kind since they just opened but man oh man.... If anyone has ever been to Iron Age (Halcyon) or Honey Pig they will not enjoy this food - at all. It is like gas station Korean BBq. It was so sad & disappointing. We had such high hopes. Food: The Japchae noodles had zero taste, the Kimchi & shrimp was also flavorless. The meat was over marinated and way too fatty. Pork belly resembled bacon not thick or shaved like traditional Korean BBQ. The pork belly and brisket tasted like oil only. Positive: the best food items were the ribeye and the Korean pancake. They were good not great. SERVICE: although a little language barrier, she was very friendly & accommodating. We left a nice tip. The food was not her fault. Paid $70 for both meals and we left hungry. The 1st warning sign was the grill is not over a flame or on cast iron. More like infrared??? Not sure. I feel awful for the people that left good reviews. If they were legit, they need to try Korean BBQ like mentioned above. They will retract their reviews for sure . Please turn this place around. We will wait for 6 months and try again.... Maybe. We just finished eating here our server was Alex L. We ordered our food as normal, got one refill of waters. Alex did put our food on the skillet for us which was nice. Our bill was $133, I usually leave 10% tip. He told us to get some ice cream on the way out but while we picked up the ice cream he came and verified the tip was 10%. Not worth the money. Sides bar is pretty pitiful. Meat quality not the greatest. And the staff come to the table constantly interrupting your conversations and trying to rush you along in the process.
