Stay far away from SK Motorsport -- and specifically Joe -- as well as MB Motors LLC in Bellingham. I paid $223.66 for a pre-purchase inspection on a BMW X5 M I was purchasing from MB Motors LLC. Because I'm located in California, I had the X5 M BMW delivered to me. Within the first two minutes of driving it, I encountered multiple serious mechanical issues -- none of which were reported in the PPI. These included a check engine light with a Cylinder 3 misfire code, a parking brake malfunction, and a drivetrain malfunction. All of this surfaced during a two-minute drive from where the car was dropped off to my home. When I respectfully explained the situation to Joe at SK Motorsport including sending him pictures and video of said issues, he informed me that scanning for check engine lights would cost $225.00 -- literally $1.34 more than I had already paid for the entire inspection. None of this was disclosed to me beforehand. It's clear to me that SK Motorsport has a financial interest in keeping MB Motors LLC happy so they can continue receiving PPI referrals from the dealership. As a result, they perform incomplete, half-hearted inspections and deliberately omit significant mechanical issues to avoid jeopardizing that relationship -- at the direct expense of the buyer. I will be sharing photos and video documenting these issues. You'll see in one of the screenshots below Joe also charged me $223.66 when he states the PPI is $205.00. Wasn't a big deal to me but another example that's shows this shop has zero integrity. Do yourself a favor and find an independent shop with no ties to the dealership before making a purchase like this. Finally sharing my experience 1-2 years of holding off haha. Brought my e83 x3 there to fix my brake issue which I had gone in circles with replacing and swapping parts around. I was basically just frustrated chasing my tail. The pedal was soft and brakes only engaged in the last 10-20% of the pedal travel no matter what tricks I tried. They charged me $375 and did not fix the issue. They checked for leaks and bled my brakes manually, which I told them I did already a dozen times, so that was not the cause. I said it was something with the ABS or DSC and it would need a special bleed. A tiny leak was found which was clearly not the cause (something wasn't completely tight), so they gave me back the car with brakes that didn't function still. They told me I needed to replace the master cylinder. I replaced the master cylinder and it fixed nothing after many more bleeds (manual and pressure). So I spent several days learning how to use and installing ISTA+ on my laptop. Ran the brake bleed procedure multiple times and finally fixed my issue completely. Basically just paid them $375 to learn a valuable lesson about doing this yourself if you want it done right. Now I receive constant spam texts and mail from them, and I wouldn't use them if they were the last shop in town. Figured they'd know about BMWs since they do quite a bit of European there, but clearly that was not the case. Thank you internet forums and having a family of BMW owners. I KNEW it needed a special bleed, but I just needed the motivation to get the PITA program to work. read more

My experience here was top notch. Recently moved back to this area and needed a repair on my car. Looked through reviews that others had written and sent an email to SK Motorsport, Steve got back to me right away, even on a Saturday, when the shop was closed. Spoke to Kevin the following Monday, super courteous and personable, set a time to bring the car in. Told him about the repair that I needed, also told him that my brakes were squeaking a bit and my car was due for a tune up, and I though that the tire pressure sensor was malfunctioning. Received a call later that day from Kevin and they assessed and confirmed with me about my initial need/repair on the car, just as I was expecting. What I wasn't expecting to be told was, the squeak on my brakes the past 2 weeks, which resolves after I've been driving and braking for a few minutes, is dew on the pads which happens this time of year. Kevin told me that my brakes are perfectly fine. I was also told that the car didn't show signs of requiring a tune up at this time. And the tire pressure sensor.... well, turns out the tires just needed a bit more air, sensor reset. Done. Everything was finished when Kevin told me that it would be. SK Motorsport also provided transportation for me back home and then again, back to the shop. Shout out to Johnny who couldn't have been nicer, good conversation. Thank you to everyone there. There are so many auto repair comps is out there, and if you're like me, there's always some form of hesitancy when it comes to getting your car repaired. After driving countless miles to get mediocre work done on my Audi A6, i stumbled upon SK Motorsport and have become a customer for life! The staff not only knows the in and outs of car bit are truthful in the diagnostics and say what needs to be done without beating around the bush. They provide insight on all the issues they fine and give fair and reasonable estimates. I've had quite a few things done on my A6, all through SK and I have never found a problem with their work. From getting my radiator fix, tire pressure monitoring system, control arm bushings, mass flow sensor and even my oil changes. I have a very clean, low mileage 82 VW that has been my baby for around 10 years. Unfortunately the time has come to sell it and I needed to do some maintenance before putting the car up for sale. I needed a timing belt and what I assumed to be a new starter, as well as some gauges giving me what I believed to be false readings. After looking at the vehicle they found that in addition to the timing belt and starter some wiring needed to be replaced as well as some gaskets and other small parts. They got the work done quickly and actually diagnosed all of the issues PROPERLY the first time, which is something I have rarely found from VW/Audi mechanics in the past (even dealerships had issues diagnosing issues on my new at the time 07 Rabbit). The pricing was fair, especially the amount of labor they charged for the gaskets etc (not sure I was charged any labor for these actually). I'm sure this was because they had things taken apart to do the timing belt, but many shops would have tacked on at least another hour or 2. I would definitely recommend SK if you have a VW or Audi, especially a customized vehicle. So many shops don't want to deal with custom cars but these guys had no problem tracking down my issues even though some of them were caused by an aftermarket audio installation. read more

So a couple weeks back, I was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden my brakes were not working right, as well as my acceleration. I got the car 8 months ago, and this is the first time I had to bring it anywhere. I decided to bring it to SK. 2 days later, I had my car back and working. Then, a week later, my fuel pump injector went out. Back to SK it went. 2 days after that, I got my car back again. I have to say, this car runs better than when I got it. We have a 2003 Mini Cooper S. That was the first year that BMW owned Mini Cooper which they started building to BMW specs, but still in the Oxford, England factory as they are still built today. We purchased our Mini from the Ralph Schomp dealership in Denver, CO, in April 2003, and we included a number of options ... wheels, tires, special leather seat covering, and select parts of the Sports Body package. The car was not delivered until September, but was still probably one of the first in the West. Our purchase also included tickets to the movie, "Italian Job" which is still one of our favorites with all those Minis running around Rome and down the "Spanish Stairs". In late 2007 we moved to Blaine, WA, way up by the Canadian border and the Georgia Straits. Oops, where's the nearest Mini dealer, about a 150 miles south and not very convenient. Fortunately we have not required a lot of service on our Mini, but when we needed some we went to the internet and there we found SK Motorsports! We have used them several times in the last few years for service, minor repairs, replacement of parts that outlived their useful life, and once when the dreaded "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Fortunately the fix was only a new gas cap; the seal on the original had a crack and that effected the emissions system. Steve, the owner, is a great guy, but Brian at the counter is who you are going to deal with most of the time and he is tremendous ... personable and knowledgeable! The facilities are clean and modern and the technicians really know what they are doing. They also service Mercedes Benz, Audi, VW, and probably just about any other European car.
