This is truly a 5 star establishment, however on this visit it will be a 4 star for me. I have been to Skaf's Grill like 20 years ago maybe 5 times. Back then things were a lot different. Food portions were plenty and very good. I stopped by today around 2:45 pm and was greeted by Salim the owner himself. Service was just ok, could have been better in many ways. They have remodeled this place and it has been around for over 25 years or so..I liked the place the way it was before. Place was clean. You order at the counter and they bring out your food. Salim was not that friendly, nor was he unfriendly. I ordered 1skewer of Shish Kabob that came in 4 small pieces of square beef, 1 skewer of grilled big prawns-3 pieces, which came with Rice, Hummus, Pita bread(stale) & was cold, and cabbage salad. My total for everything including tax was $29.65. I asked my Shish Kebob to be cooked medium, and it was way too well done for my taste. Shrimp and the rest were delicious!! My server Cely could have been more pleasant and friendly. She just brought my food out, placed it on the table & didn't check on me not even ONCE!! One of the cooks from the kitchen asked me if I needed anything and I said, I am good. Had to get up myself to ask for water and napkins. Ambiance was dull and boring. There was no one in the restaurant. Right when I was about to leave, another employee by the name of Micalla came to work and right away asked me if I needed anything. I asked for a box to take the remaining of the food to go. Right away she packed my food and I left. Fridge full of cold beverages and my favorite TAN! An Armenian/Lebanese Yogurt drink. Another downside was that they didn't have an itemized receipt. The last 4 star was for Micalla. Will definitely return again some other time. I've been coming here for about 20 years and owner Salim and the crew are like family. One of the best Lebanese food spots in LA and their Chicken Shawarma and their hummus are simply unreal! The chicken shawarma, so well-marinated, super juicy, makes your taste buds dance like there is no tomorrow. In addition, the hummus is the G.O.A.T of the town- so creamy, so fresh, so good and no wonder it was named the best hummus by the Los Angeles Magazine. The flavor was exquisite and everything was on point. The meat was tender and juicy. I had the kebab and the flavor for that was yum. The humus was not too oily nor was it bland. You could definitely tell they made that humus that day. Additionally it was too grainy like other places. The service was quick. The only thing that sucks is parking. I usually order a combo Kebab plate which is enough for two people or a chicken plate, but today I ordered the Branzino and the flavor did not disappoint. I called in the order on my way home from work and it was ready in 20min. The owner was there with a friendly face. His helper and the cook were also very nice and friendly. Been exploring different Mediterranean/Middle Eastern spots around my neighborhood. I was at Trader Joes shopping for groceries and decided to try this place for lunch. Called the place right before I went into TJ and placed my order. Coming from the Trader Joe's side, you have to make a U turn into the parking lot. But found parking quickly and was able to pick up my food. The restaurant is small but charming. There were a few patrons there dining in. I went up to the counter and paid for my food. The man helping me was very nice and friendly. Got two chicken shawarma wraps, the cabbage salad and an order of fries. My husband asked for a salad and the Yelp page had highlighted the cabbage salad, so I figured we'd try it. The large salad was pretty big, so I'd probably go with the small in the future. It's also more of a coleslaw/side than a salad, but it was tasty nonetheless. The wraps were delicious, juicy and messy! Mine fell apart as I ate it, but my husband was smart and kept the foil on his. The fries were fatter and cut thickly, more like potato wedges but were good. My only gripe is that the pickled veggies that came with this weren't quite pickled. Other than that, food was good. Would come back to try some of the other items. read more

Absolutely my new favorite place in the Valley for Lebanese cuisine. Moved into the neighborhood recently and got the vip treatment from the owner, Salim. He recommended I try the combo plate which was a LOT of food but for to try the kafta, chicken and shish kebabs. The cabbage salad was delicious as well as I believe they have the BEST HUMMUS I have ever eaten. Salim topped off this final by making me a free Turkish coffee which was tremendous! We came here in search of the best shawarma in LA. TL:DR this place isn't it. So we love some good shawarma and given the demographics in Southern California, you've got some decent options for shawarma. After hearing about this place, we thought we'd make the trek to check it out. The good part was that the sauces were on point. Their baba ganoush, hummus, and garlic sauce were VERY good. This is Lebanese hummus, meaning there is less tahini, which we prefer. And the fries were salty, had a good crisp and cooked well. However, the rest was disappointing. The chicken kabob was dry. The chicken shawarma was also dry and lacked flavor. The fried cauliflower was bland and greasy. The rice was bland. The pickles were not seasoned and they didn't have the pickled cucumber you sometimes see in Lebanese cooking.
