We will start competitive pricing before 2027 or convert. If we stay, we will be spending more than $2,158 per delivery at the current rate of $6.60. With a future forecast of $38,000 per year.. I've been a customer for over thirty years. While the service on the boiler has been fine, they have a predatory delivery practice. On more than one occasion they denied that I paid and yet I see from my bank account that they received the payments. They don't deliver and we run out of oil. Then we have to pay an "emergency" delivery charge of $150 to get oil. I'm done with them. I'm editing this to add, that after I cancelled with them on Sunday, I checked prices and found that while they charged me $4.49 per gallon, the average price in my area was $3.00 a gallon. So, they have been overcharging me $300 per shipment. If they hadn't played this game with me to get an extra $150, I would not have checked and would have continued to over pay. I have been a loyal customer of Skaggs Walsh since 2018, always paying my bills in full and on time. I also joined Heat USA, as advised, for an additional annual fee, hoping it would lower my monthly fees and enhance my parts and service coverage. Well, about a month back my heat stopped. Skaggs Walsh determined my blower motor was shot. They ordered a new one and left my family with NO HEAT for 8 days. When the new blower motor arrived Skaggs Walsh charged me $1700, meanwhile my service contract states "blower motor" as one of the covered parts. so much for my service contract and Heat USA. Yesterday I went to an open house and mentioned to the seller and the realtor that I use Skaggs Walsh to heat my home. Both of them said the same thing, "oh, Skaggs Walsh is very expensive. We dropped them years ago." I felt like I've been robbed for the past 8 years, overpaying Skaggs Walsh. I plan to find a more affordable oil company that won't rob me on both ends. read more

I haven't had any issues with this company per se. Their oil service is satisfactory, But I recently needed a plumber to replace a worn-out drain pipe that extends from my kitchen sink to the main waste pipe. I decided to use the services of Skaggs-Walsh plumbing, Why not, they deliver the oil, so why not use them? Well, you find out that they don't care if you are an existing customer. I called them in the evening and was asked if it could wait till the next day, I said I had wrapped the hole with good old duck tape and it's holding ( Not under pressure, just gravity ) and that I would wait. I thought it would save some money if I treated it as a non-emergency. The plumbers show up in the morning and maybe spent 45 minutes doing the ( they had to go to a local plumber's supply house 3 blocks from me to get the parts ) repair that consisted of 4 FT of PVC pipe, One Y-pipe, and 5 regular No-Hub coupling clamps. They finish the job, but I had to call them back because one of the Nohubs was leaking which they replaced with another one. My issue with SkaggsWalsh is what they billed me for parts. At best, they used Maybe $70 in parts, maybe. I was bill $400 for parts which I disputed ( It took multiple calls ) the charge with them and I told them they just bought the parts and they had a large bag of extra parts related to my repair that they did not use. So they tell me its because of overhead, Of course I understand the business model, But damn, I shouldn't have to pay to supply other plumbing jobs. talk about mark ups. Ultimitley they gave a credit, unrelated to the inflated parts. Did I have expectations that I wouldn't get burned, Yes. Was This a DYI job? Yes, absolutely. A few months ago my review for Skaggs Walsh would have been 5 stars for their oil service. They are quick and efficient if you have a service membership with them. I've been using their services for 2 years and I do not have one complaint on that aspect. My advice would be to stay away from their plumbing services. Today, however, I had the most traumatizing experience with the owner on the phone after I made a payment that seriously blew me away. I think people forgot to interact with others after the pandemic. Long story short, if you owe them make sure to pay it in full, do not ask questions and making smaller monthly payments during a pandemic does not matter at all. Seriously. This person I spoke to specifically TRIED to come for my morals and use any way they could to make me feel less than a human. It was very surprising because this was the first time I ever spoke to them. Overall, I like giving people the benefit of the doubt and I hope that the owner (which I chose not to name) was just having a crummy morning. I also hope they realize that using terms such as "who do you think you are?" and "you're that kind of person" in a customer service voice does not make them sound professional and does not sound less offensive. the last three years and I am assuming it provides free service when oil furnace breaks down. I have never made a single call ever since I bought the plan. Last month the furnace broken down and they sent someone to repair it and the feed back was it needs cleaning and it was done. Few days later, my tenants had manually turned it off because they heard some crazy loud noise and requested someone to check the boiler. Skagg sent someone to check and said no noise observed. Then, they charged me for 3 hours of services of $275 per hour total of $825. If you didn't observe noise what were you doing there for 3 hours. And isn't this supposed to be part of the protection plan? Also this is the first complaint my tenants make in 3 years, and especially furnace did break down few days ago. why would anyone turn off the furnace in Middle of winter if they didn't feel it was kinda of dangerous. I have 2 tenants that heard the noise and can testify.. my tenants aren't the ones that makes complaint every other day.. also if there was such charges for $900 for check furnace? "HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS" is a blatant lie. I am high risk for covid and have self-quarantined for over a year. No one comes into my home except repair people, and no one is allowed in without a mask. I keep a minimum of six-feet distance, usually ten or more. Skaggs-Walsh employees do not even wash their hands upon entering my home. I have to scrub down everything after they leave. Skaggs-Walsh is in breach of contract. I've been a Skaggs-Walsh customer ever since they took over Nulite (who took over V & K, who took over Grieco). They have always given great and quick service, even in the worst of snow and ice have never left me or my family without heating oil. Two nights ago, I found water all over my basement that appeared to have been leaking from the furnace. I called Skaggs-Walsh and a repairman came immediately. The repairman thoroughly checked out the furnace, which had no leak. But he didn't stop there. He checked several other things, and determined that the water was coming from a drain hole in the floor near the furnace, and the flood was caused by a sewer pipe clog. At my request, he even recommended a service company to help me with the clog. I highly recommend them! read more

If I could give no stars I would. Be aware they will rip you off. They double charge me for their contract. I paid for it when they came to my house. They send me a bill for oil and the contract fee. I told them 4 times and it was not changed. Each person kept saying they will make the change and nothing. Don't get me started on oil they are saying they delivered. Not sure how you fill a tank that was already full and that was told to the sale guy tony and he said that was no problem they will come in the spring time. Instead they came a couple weeks later and claiming to put over $1000 worth of oil in a full tank. They pride themselves on customer service don't be fooled. Planning on canceling with them. At the beginning of the season, our furnace would not turn on. We called the number that was posted on the side of the furnace for service and it turned out that the original company had been bought out by Skaggs-Walsh. We were happy to hear that they could send out someone the same evening, and that the cost would be the regular rate (we were afraid they would charge extra for the late evening service). The service people who came replaced a pipe that was leaking but could not guarantee that the other pipes wouldn't start leaking as well since the entire boiler was old. We decided that it was time to replace the furnace with a new one. They sent a salesman who made note of the number of radiators in the house and took measurements to determine the size of boiler needed for our home. They recommended going with a boiler that was the same brand as our old one. Since our old furnace had lasted well over 40 years without giving us any trouble, we agreed. The installation went smoothly and they recently returned for a one-month check to make sure the furnace was running efficiently. My wife and I are very pleased with their service. There is always someone there to answer a call and they are courteous and friendly. The Sunday after the boiler was installed, we called them because the boiler would not turn on. Even though it was a Sunday evening, they sent someone out right away. It turned out to be a loose connection from the thermostat and was easily resolved. All in all, it has been a positive experience, and they will be our first call for any plumbing needs from now on. read more

This November I heard an unusual noise "​on and off "from my furance, so I called to have them check, as l bought their plan and skaggs sent someone but only stayed about​ 15 mins and he said no no​ise heard and left. After that skaggs charged me$216. 66 for service. So I recorded the noises as instructed by them to send to the company voice mail because it was some ON and OFF. After several days I called them but a female clerk said voice mail not received and then said its voice mail problem. She insisted that only if problem found the charge will be free. I wonder if I call Verizon or Cable, they will send technician to fix or check for free for they value their customers, unfortunately, skaggs thinks customers might abuse, but who will waste time to sit home whole day waiting technical support if there isn't any real problem. Finally November 16th. another technician came and found it was the heating system blower noise and he called the manager right away in my basement to verify. So I spoke to the manager with the technician's phone and he said about $590 to fix, but had to send to other company to fix. He promised to waive the service charge$216. 66 when the technician still there. But the promise never come true and I still receive the bill of that charge on December 14th.I still keep the recorded unusual blower noise in my phone as reference. I think the owner should explain why a customer has to go thru those unnecessary annoying suitation! read more

I have been with Skaggs Walsh for a few years now to find out all this time I have been paying almost a dollar more a gallon for home oil. UNBELIEVABLE, I now have Petro it is a high rate company and I pay less and it has biofuel also. I recommend checking your oil price a gallon and compare, because you can safe almost a dollar a gallon. That is a big difference. Petro lets you get 100 gallons or more. How do you turn a scheduled 8AM to 4PM eight hour time period for providing furnace maintenance service (within that time period) into a 7:19 PM time of arrival for the technician that is assigned to perform the actual service? Just ask Skaggs-Walsh. I received a post card from Skaggs-Walsh (in May 2017) indicating that my furnace would receive its' annual required maintenance on Wednesday 06/14/17 between the hours of 8AM to 4PM. This appointment was confirmed on Tuesday 06/13/17 when Skaggs-Walsh contacted me in order to receive my confirmation. I waited all day on 06/14/17 and eventually contacted Skaggs-Walsh at 4:05 PM when a technician had still not arrived at my home to perform the maintenance. The customer service rep (whose name is Maria) indicated that the assigned technician is still working on the previous job and that my appointment is next on his schedule. I had to make a second call to Skaggs-Walsh at 6:50 PM (i.e. 2 hours and 45 minutes after my previous conversation with Maria) when the technician had still not arrived at my home. The customer service rep for this second call (whose name is Ben) indicated that the technician is still on the previous job and that I am still next on the technician's schedule. He also indicated that there were some complications. The technician finally arrived at my home at 7:19PM. It appears that Skaggs-Walsh procedures for scheduling maintenance type appointments needs to be reviewed especially if service cannot be delivered within the time period that is actually being dictated by Skaggs-Walsh. It causes a significant amount of inconvenience when you have to stay stuck in your house for 12 consecutive hours (the technician did not complete his work until after 8PM) while simultaneously needing to address outdoor related matters. I hope that the upper echelons of Skaggs-Walsh management will follow-up in regards to this situation in order to identify the underlying cause(s) and any corresponding problems that need to be corrected. read more

The owner of this company is rude accusatory and has deplorable customer service. She called to inquire why I refused a delivery and accused me of having another oil company. I told her I did not; I actually called for service and settle a balance the week prior. I tried to explain that I recently had a house flood and was not ready to pay the $900 plus cost of an oil bill at the moment. I'm dealing with flooding in the middle of winter for Pete's sake! The explanations fell on deaf ears; she again made the accusation of using another oil company and closed the account. I told her I did not like her tone, she stated the same and debased the conversation into an argument. I was with Skaggs Walsh/Atlas oil for nearly 15 years and never had an issue with postponing a delivery. The owner was rude, disrespectful, obtuse and discriminatory. Was stuck Bowne St (one lane street) near Holly Ave and had to wait over 20 min because the driver had parked in the middle of the road with no way to drive around. Over 20 cars were waiting behind me, backing up traffic for the whole block. If he just moved up and closer to the side, cars could go around. read more

This company has terrible customer service and lacks any professional integrity. They recently completed work at my neighbors home which is attached to mine. They disregarded my car parked in my driveway and not only parked their truck so close to my car, but completely scratched up the door and both my front and back panels. The workers walked along my driveway, squeezing through the tiny space they left between my car and their truck (which was my driveway). They carelessly tossed large pieces of metal into their truck while my car sat parked and a few times almost hit my car. When I asked nicely for them to be more mindful of my property, the were rude and disrespectful. They also had left muddy oil footprints all over my driveway. I guess, they seemed to be more focused on spending a lot of time gaulking at young girls passing by, which was pretty disgusting to witness. The company was useless in disgusting my concerns, and basically stated that I couldn't prove my claims and rudely dismissed me. There are many reputable companies out there and considering the way this company responded to me and treated my property, I would suggest hiring a company with more integrity and cares about the way they treat others. Surrealistically awful experience. The heat conked out on a home I had listed -in February- so it was imperative that I got it back going immediately or risk the pipes freezing.Frozen pipes can cause damage in the tens of thousands of dollars. This is a problem. The boiler had a sticker for the company that serviced the oil contract, and I called. I was told by the operator that they had acquired that company. Fine, I didn't care what the name was, I just needed heat restored, emergency. Here was their answer: "No." But you service boilers, right? "Yes, we do but only for people that have a contract to buy oil from us" OK, you must be the folks who have this contract. I represent the owner, I need heat or the pipes will freeze- "The owner has to meet us at the home, listen to our presentation, sign a new contract for oil, and then we'll fix the boiler." The owner is in Florida. I went back and forth with the person, pleading with her that this was an emergency, that we'd be JUST FINE buying oil from them, but that I couldn't meet them there, just take my visa number and they'd be paid. "No." .... After getting connected with someone in authority, they agreed to fax me paperwork for a service contract and then they'd repair the boiler. And? The paperwork would require a social security number. Yes, nothing would be done until I had the owner, in Florida, apply for a revolving credit account and have his credit checked before anything happened. Call me crazy, but in my world, when you buy a company, you buy their book of business. You buy their relationships. This house was on their books. They delivered oil in March '15 and it was a vacant property with a 550 gallon tank. All they needed to do was honor the relationship of the business they bought. Not rocket science. What I don't understand is why, when being told repeatedly that this was an emergency, that frozen pipes were at risk, they wouldn't budge until I jumped through every hoop before they'd lift a finger. Must be nice; they must have plenty of other customers. God Bless them. Certainly not this house anymore. I called another company I was referred to and scheduled a repair, and YES, that company will be who my client uses. That boiler is getting a new sticker. These guys really blew it. I just became a customer in May 2022. For my first winter I didn't realize they would refill so often (every two weeks) with about $300-$500 worth of oil. Good thing is they just come. Unless you have any financial issue finding an extra $1000/month during the winter. I was curious about the payment options they offer but when you click the link on the site to enroll, nothing happens & no one calls. The first time my bill was behind, I received a call at 8:30a, 2 days after Christmas from a condescending woman telling me I needed to pay or they wouldn't refill my oil. When I asked about the payment plan button she said "why didn't you call? That would've made more sense" which showed no human compassion or remorse. She did not ask if I still needed help or offer any. It was cold, heartless, rude and condescending. So I told her I wouldn't speak to her, hung up & simply paid my bill in full. When I called back to complain to customer service, Donna barely wanted to hear me out. She, too, was just focused on the business and asking me about my bill (which was fully paid). I asked her to make a note on my account so the first woman wouldn't ever call me & others wouldn't be rude. Donna told me that rude "is based on perception". My perception is that these people don't care about people, just their business. In todays world, that doesn't work. I'm locked into a plan with them because I pre-paid but maybe this post will have them return my money so I can leave sooner. There are other options, but this account was handed down to me from the previous owner. I wish I did my own research.I refuse to do business with and support money-hungry, heartless businesses that have no problem harassing me first thing in the morning. My advice is call into customer service & see what kind of people work there first. Do your research. Maybe don't lock into a plan with them so you can leave when you want to. SW has been our oil provider & servicer for the past 9 years. I wouldn't say they were excellent, but why change and deal w a new vendor? In any case, I had the auto delivery service and a check up service. Every few months they would charge me. The bill seemed high based on usage so I cancelled the auto delivery thinking that I would be notified during the routine checks I'd be out of oil. That didn't happen and this past wknd, I ended up w no oil as my brother got hit w the flu. I called up the company and they accused me of using too little oil since the last visit and therefore must have used a different company. And then refused to provide me with oil. Multiple calls to the company resulted in the same conversation. Though hard to call it a conversation as each representative yelled louder than the last and never let me finish a sentence. And, no other company (BC you better believe I'm going elsewhere now) can provide oil until Monday. And this is why I'm glad yelp exists. read more

Our (very old) American Standard oil burner cracked and leaked the Saturday before Thanksgiving (what a time for this!). Thank God, the weather was in our favor! My oil and service provider completely botched up plans for a replacement system. Skaggs-Walsh was the third company we called. Tony came out the next day and assessed our needs with ease. We had a couple of pipes wrapped in asbestos which he assured could be professionally removed (by a company who specializes in removal), our old system removed and new system installed in the same day. Our current provider pointed to the "separate" job of asbestos removal and provided their phone number for us to arrange that initial process. Then I'd have to arrange for my boiler to be replaced. Bottom line, Skaggs-Walsh was better prepared to take on the job at hand. Planning, confirmation and delivery was right on point to their proposal. Their price was actually better than our provider's (which included asbestos removal). The kicker in this whole experience, the asbestos removal company could only pencil me in "...possibly at the end of the week". That's after Thanksgiving! Then, to have the boiler installed next week. Skaggs-Walsh uses the same asbestos removal company! The difference, when you have a working relationship with the appropriate companies and services, you can function as the "be all and end all"; "the one stop shop". Skaggs-Walsh not only sold their service but their word. You have one time to make a good impression. Skaggs-Walsh made it count. Our Slant Fin Intrepid TR 40PZ with auto water feed, low water cutoff is a third the size and meets our: family of three, colonial 3br, 1bth, washer, dryer, dish washer home needs with efficiency. Skaggs-Walsh arranges a follow up visit a few days after installation to evaluate the experience and answer any questions we may have. They also offer installation for gas burners, service for central air and plumbing. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was quoted $3600 for I installation of a New Oil Tank. Little expensive but I gave Sales Rep $1200 down Payment and given an Appointment for Installiation a Month later. Day before appointment I had to call to confirm. No one called Me to confirm . Service Guys were Great but there was some problem with new Tank connections so they said to call the Office when they were leaving. Im the Customer so why would I have to follow up? Next Day I called and no one at the Office was sure how to proceed? I was several times out on hold. I tried to contact the Sales Rep but His Voice Mail was full and My Text to Him wrnt Unanswered. Asked for Manager and was told He was unavailable but would contact Me which never happened. Had to wait a Further Week for Installiation. Called again to complain but it was passed on with more promises but no results. If I had to choose again I would NEVER have chosen Skaggs-Walsh.
