The only reason I will give this a rating of one Star is because 0 is unavailable. The service guys who work for the company are great. The business itself is horrible. When we first signed on we contracted for Oil and service. We were billed shortly after for an oil delivery that never showed up. To this day, we were never given an explanation as to where the oil went. We contacted them to investigate provided facts provided by their own service men and yet we were never refunded nor was an explanation ever given for the oil we paid for but never received. The yearly service charge was paid upfront so we decided to use the service that was paid for until the contract ended. On the coldest day of the year our boiler went down, and we called in to have it serviced. The representative then informed us that our contract had been cancelled due to us not purchasing any further oil from them after the initial delivery never arrived and we were charged. So here's what were out; Contract Fee- 325.00 (For a contract that was cancelled with no notification or justification) Oil delivery charge- 1777.91 (For oil that was never delivered) I'm writing this as a heads up to any future potential customers. PLEASE BEWARE. There is ethical about the way this company conducts business. We will be filing a claim with the better business bureau to make sure this is reported. We've since contracted with Petro and so far they are pretty good. I'm attaching the recorded note sent to them so that you as a potential customer can so for yourselves. Once again, please Beware. Dear Donna, We recently entered into a Service and Maintenance contract on 01/26/17. The sales person who executed the contract (I believe his name was Tony) was very helpful in answering all of the questions that we had and completely assured us that we've made the right decision in coming to Skaggs Walsh. During his visit, we discussed the terms of our contract along with the oil delivery. I advised the sales person that we would not be in need of oil anytime soon as we currently have a full tank. (This was verified by Triboro Energy on December 15, 2016) I was told that we would not receive oil until sometime in April or May. We received an oil delivery on 2/7/2017 for a total of 433 gallons of oil equating to a $1,177.91 invoice. As our oil tank was full (550 gallons) as of 12/15/2016, I find it difficult to believe that in a matter of 54 days, a household of two working adults with a thermostat set to cycle off during working hours can consume 433 gallons of oil. (Please note the last oil delivery was completed 1/25/17 for 130 gallons of oil) Sunday 2/12/2017 When we received the invoice, we called your office to inquire about the delivery we received. We also noticed that the contract fee of $325.00 that was paid on 1/26/2017 was still reflecting as unsettled on the current invoice. We advised the customer service rep of this discrepancy and we were assured it would be removed from our account. She was unable to assist with our inquiries regarding the oil delivery and advised that we speak to the oil manager. We left our number with the promise of a call back the following day on or around 930am. We never received a call. Monday 2/13/2017 We followed up in the afternoon and when inquiring with the support rep who answered the call, we were informed that the $325 dollar payment was still reflected on our account with no note of removal at the time. She advised that she will process the reversal at this time. She then noted to the Oil manager to call us back when free. We received a call from the oil manager and after explaining the issue, was advised that he could not assist. When asked who could, there was no direction given. Although the call was shortened on my behalf due to the rude and condensing tone of the oil manager (Joe) the purpose of my call was to achieve an understanding to what I believe to be a discrepancy. After ending the call, I called back shortly after and was assisted by a support representative named Jovan (I believe). We received good customer service and assurance that we will all work towards a resolution. He advised that he would have someone come to our home on Tuesday 2/14/2017 at or after 7pm. This did not happen. The following are some complaints regarding the customer service experience we've received in our short tenure; · Paid contract fees still being reflected on the account although multiple request have been made to have it removed · Lack of professionalism in customer service when trying to resolve and understand the issue at hand · Scheduled appointment never showed up, called or rescheduled visit on 2/14/2017 for 7pm. We also hope to come to an resolution regarding the level of oil in the tank vs what was delivered. She's really well versed on being a complete wretch, so if this is what you're looking for Skaggs-Walsh is the company for you! But - don't worry guys she's "a business woman who owns a multi million dollar a year business", according to Allison on Sunday November 10th 2024. I have been seeing bad reviews on SKAGGS-WALSH every time I go on Google to look up their phone number, but have a been a customer since 2013 without any issues. I also never had a serious problem before, so no reason to speak to the owner or any manager available. Allison is a deplorable, sad business owner who obviously takes pleasure in being in any kind of power position. Based on all these 1-star reviews and the fact she's still in business, Skaggs Walsh will continue and she can live her life scheming on how to make her customers feel like absolute garbage. Recently I had a very bad experience with SW. They have been my oil provider for the past 21/2 years. Initially in one month they delivered twice and I brought it to their attention I only got an apology. Last year everything was fine until my last delivery this month. The tank was at 1/2 a tank,(gauge was reading 1/2 tank) I called and the representative told me that the computer is showing 1/2 a tank also. I requested the tank be filled up to full, the representative told me sure, delivery will be on Monday. The driver comes at 6:30am and is done by 6:32am not even allowing the whistle to quiet on its own. When I went to check the gauge it read 3/4 instead of full. I called the company to have oil measure, they came that same night. it was measured at 311/2 inches. My tank hold 275 gallons. They company explained to me that the gauge might not be working, someone came to replace it but the gauge read the same 3/4. I called them again the staff was very arrogant and confrontational. The supervisor tried to explain to me that the driver is very careful, the cork might have been clogged, they gave me every story in the book. I spoke with Allison and she asked me to explain the situation to her, as I was explaining she cuts me off and does not allow me to finish and begins to become condescending and loud. At the end of our conversation she states " we will not be servicing you as a customer anymore", and hangs up the phone. This was the first time since 2013 that I did not receive an order I requested. Allison is also assuming that financial difficulties is the reason why the complaint is made. To date we have no bad debts, all bills are paid in full and on time. The company's last bill was sent last week and is on hold till the issue is resolved. read more

My family has been with Skaggs Walsh since the merger with Michael's Fuel Oil. I remember one of the critical elements that was important to my parents was the level of customer service. Michael's had a strong customer centric core. Skaggs Walsh continues it. Last Thursday, the burner had its annual cleaning. The technician remembered my parents. He was thorough, efficient and respectful. He recommended that a panel be replaced due to corrosion. I got a call Saturday to schedule the repair. It was done Wednesday. A different technician and he was also, thorough, efficient, and respectful--and timely. I was totally confident leaving him to do his work, while I worked from home. He finished the job within 2 hours and let me know he was leaving. And when I finished my conference call, I went to check it out. And he had left the basement clean and closed all the doors. The best was the oil delivery this morning as the flakes were falling. And the driver shoveled a path for me to the front gate. I also appreciate Skaggs Walsh's use of bio-efficient oil and the accompanying tax break. Thank you! read more

I can't say enough about the Skaggs - Walsh team. Over the last few years they kept our 35-40 old furnace running. During that time winter spring summer whenever we had trouble one of their service people showed up, did their magic to get it back up and running and helped us prolong as long as possible replacement. When that time came Paul came for a visit and took us through every possible path forward. No pressure to take one path or another we were able to take our time - do our research and consider our decision. We confidently chose Skaggs and Walsh to install our new furnace - their team was excellent and took care in not only doing the install but taking every precaution from wearing their mask to ensuring that the area was left clean with not a scratch to be found. This company is very professional and operates how you would expect a family owned business to do so - we felt valued and cared for every step of the way and really since we began using them some 10 years ago. I was formally a super for a small brownstone and inherited the system that was in place. We turned coop 22 years ago, but I still deal with all the building mechanical issues. Skaggs-Walsh acquired a company that we had used for over 30 years a few years ago. We had a fill line break under the sidewalk that year, and their emergency service was excellent. This past August our 40 year old boiler finally quit on us, and we had a leaking tank at the same time. Emergency repair for the tank. Several options for the boiler replacement. They took care of everything from DOB permitting, engineering for the permitting, sourcing everything, installation and bringing everything up to DOB spec. We are happy, warm and enjoying the first year in many that we are not worrying about the heat working the way it is supposed to. The phone service representatives are disgusting. CUSTOMERS BEWARE. NOT WORTH the premium they charge. I canceled the account today. When I told that I would have to speak with Allison Heany, Deborah and Jessica told me that they don't care about the sort of terrible service they provide because they are working there as "family" and therefore implied that it didn't matter what they did, the owner, Allison Heany, couldn't fire them. These over-the-phone arguments are not the first, and I have dealt with Deborah and Jessica on several occasions. They are stubborn and disgusting people. When Allison Heany contacted me more then five years ago to sign up with them for Heating Oil she assured me that the higher premium they charge was worth it because of the quality in service and product they provide. Just moved and was researching boiler service contracts/heating oil suppliers in the area. I am glad I stumbled upon Skaggs Walsh. John S. was extremely thorough and very easy going. He came and performed a complimentary efficiency test on our furnace. He took his time explaining the in's and out's, including the company's history, the service contracts offered, and the fuel delivery process. Within a week, they sent Neal to service the furnace. He was EXCELLENT! Friendly, knowledgeable, and an all-around good guy, he brought up the furnace's efficiency by performing a thorough cleaning and maintenance. When the heat stops working in the middle of the night, I know that I can call and reach someone and they will help me no matter what. That means so much to me. I've been with Skaggs/Walsh for over a year or two and they are beyond excellent in every way. I woke up on Xmas day to discover I had no heat, hot water etc. They sent a rep here immediately. The Furance had cracked and was not fixable. They had a team here the very next morning and they put in a new furance. If the weather had gone below zero the houe pipes would have burst so they saved the day. The staff there is highly intelligent, experience, very courteous and go all out to help. Had a boiler installed by Skaggs-Walsh recently. The lead on the job, Neal B was exceptional. The team was efficient and Neal made sure my home was looked after properly. They cleaned any mess after the installation and all was handled in a timely manner. I will stay with them for as long as I'm within their coverage area, and have no problem recommending them to my loved ones. They are fair and human, which is rare in this day and age.
