I took my son to this skating rink back around 2015, but my experience has stuck with me and I feel I should let it be known. I was a single mother and purchased two tickets, one for my son and one for me. I was approached by the younger man who runs the rink as I was putting my skates on and was told they really don't like parents to skate because they are more likely to break bones. I was just 29 at the time and in good health. i also struggled financially and with my self esteem. Being treated that way was crushing to me. I never went back and do not recommend as I can see the man is a family member of the owners. He is in the photo of the family owned business. Please be kind to the people who are keeping your doors open. read more

The customer service was no issue. The building itself needs ALOT of work! Looks exactly from thee 70's. The smell and all. I believe it is family owned! No knock on them, but the building needs work. The area for the patrons is extremely tight. The offer no refills for drinks and if you have a voucher, make sure it is the original. I have been skating my entire life and it's something I enjoy doing with my family. I'd like to share the pros of this place that I did see: 1. The owners do look like they are the same from 20 years ago and as previously mentioned the lady that runs it is very sweet. 2. I can tell the skates and roller blades are new. Cons: 1. The floor is original. The main portion is flat and not pitted like some old floors. With that said it needs repair around most of the back walls with missing panels and a noticeable multi-inch drop in the far back. Potentially dangerous when you don't expect to be going down a hill. 2. Seating. Rough. Bench seating is dated and just super tiny. Trying to squeeze out of our table around others was tough. No issue for me, but my kids need balance work. 3. I asked if the kid at the counter could loosen my rental truck just a smidge because they were tightened where the wheels were not straight. Yes I saw the sign that you don't adjust skates, however, these were rentals. No reason not to service them. The kid basically ignored me and called the person behind me to move fwd. 4. In the hour I was there the whistle only blew once. It was for me. I was getting down to assist my kid that had just fallen and was crying. I was out of the circle and in no one's way. I ignored his request until my kid was ready to get up. The aforementioned truly is the reason for the bad review. There were kids going in reverse on the PVC rollers the entire time that were never redirected. When I passed the old man he decided to mention again that I need to not be down on the floor like that.... I chose to just keep going instead of replying. I chose to give the gentleman the benefit of the doubt that a 36 year old man doesn't just lay down next to a downed patron for no reason at all. My kid or not, I would have provided the same level of care. 5. Dirty and cluttered. If you don't like 254 then take the 20 min drive to temples rink. Give these people some time to update as previously denoted in some of these yelp replies. read more

I don't know what all the bad reviews are for but my experience personally here was great with my girls. There was a group of us that went to go skate. Yes is it a little older of a building and skating rink but it was a nice little spot. My girls had a blast! They play fun music to skate too & we had no issues. They are remodeling their back wall area. There are a lot of kids here but parents get to watch children skate for free. Only parents. No friends can watch. The seating area could be better arranged by rearranging the layout and getting rid of extra junk. I enjoy the staff. They are very upbeat and kind people. The music isn't very loud. Also they play baby shark which drives me crazy so I take headphones. It would be nice if they would play more up to date music with more variety and turn it up a bit. No adult night or adult skate without the kids. I would recommend this rink to everyone. I can't wait to see the renovations after they are finished. read more

I used to love coming to this skating rink when I was younger , every Friday night I'd be here with my school friends. It's insane how cluttered and more of a storage unit it has become , it's pretty nasty and I can only guess how many pests they have living inside that building . It's so dirty, skates are disgusting, it's just a dust cage with loud music speakers . We left after 30 mins, I had a huge headache and my OCD got the best of me . Time money wasted , don't even go here. Better off just driving to Temple way cleaner and a better overall environment. read more

They're were tons of children which, duh of course that didn't really bother us bc it wasn't surprising, but as a group of adults, I don't feel like being yelled. We had been going there for 10 Years. And I have always had my issues with the place being old and musty.The have always been rude to the kids. But tonight took the cake. They kicked my minor child off the premises for something he didn't do.Mind you he was without an adult, just several friends.They told him to get off the F... property. This is Unacceptable from any facility that is supposed to care for our children. This review doesn't even deserve a one star rating. Absolute horrible experience at this establishment. Skates are rollerblades are in dire need of repairs and replacements. They check skates being brought in and then deny use "because they aren't equipped right" yet you need to pay for theirs that are falling apart and don't even latch or close. The place has a rancid horrible smell. Musty odor smell. Just very over powering. Let's not even mention the restroom area with doors that don't latch or close and the boy/girl shared sink area with shared soap that's screaming germ central, just thankful I carry sanitizer. I've not even begun to mention the staff! Unprofessional! We're talking, harassing level unprofessional. Even after being asked to walk away and leave alone, was continued harassed and harassed other members in the group with unnecessary and inappropriate comments. Even took it as far as knocking on a car window of another customer to continue comments. Seriously the most unprofessional place of business I've ever seen! If you're wanting to roller skate, I would definitely check out another location. I have no idea how this place is still in business or how there are even 5 star reviews on this even. read more

This place should be condemned. It smells like stale cigarette smoke and is old and musty. There is what appears to be used farm equipment, as well as dusty Christmas decorations and boxes of junk, at either end of the rink, and the only method of keeping kids from careening into them are a few orange safety cones. No air conditioning. The sound system is loud and blaring. The staff is rude. Overpriced drinks and no water fountains. The parking lot is a nightmare of potholes and broken pavement. Save yourself the trouble of needing getting a tetanus booster and skip this place. read more

Great family fun. We have had church parties there for years. The family that owns and operates the rink are supper nice. (Unless you start cursing like a sailor. As a grandparent I am totally disgusted with you as adults. My daughter came today with her children for a birthday party, when you found out that she was my daughter (I owned Killeen Skate Palace), your son Steve talked down to her and was totally ugly and had my 9 year old granddaughter in tears, so they could not even stay for the party. Killeen Skate Palace closed for personal reasons. You should be treating people with respect. You should be trying to get kids off the street instead of belittling them. I have written to the Roller Skating Association in regards to this matter and will also be contacting a lawyer. YOU SHOULD TRY TREATING PEOPLE HOW YOU WANT TO BE TREATED. My children and their friends visited this establishment this evening and were very disappointed. The staff was extremely rude. There was no air condition in the place and the staff demanded that they stay inside. The bathroom were filthy. There is a storage area in the rink with Christmas decorations at one end. This place smells like cat pee and stale cigarettes. Skates we're broken and a true safety hazard. "Management" was HORRIBLE, a grown man acting like a high school girl with all the drama. Threatening & harassing, because we asked for our space because a child was injured. Complete disregard that our child was screaming bloody murder in pain and wanted to keep making snarky comments about how "it's not like when we were younger". The rink floor was rotting around the walls. There was a large amount of random equipment and "stuff" blocking a good portion of the rink. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost!! I booked a birthday party for my son here and it was absolutely terrible! I was never told there was no AC before I booked my sons birthday party and the boys were miserable we stayed for two hours as long as we could take and also the old man verbally attacked two of my guests and myself for "being on the skating floor without skates" which he was wrong and I told him about it because I did have skates! And so did my guest and her spouse was on the carpet not even the floor! I asked him if he was the owner and I stated he was very rude!!! He told me if I didn't like it leave!? I told him he would never get another dime from me because I have seen him behave like this before towards other people. Almost 200$ down the drain for a terrible party. Just wrapped up my daughters birthday party, and it was a success! They provided cake, ice cream, pizza, drinks, and skate rental for 8 kids all for under $100. Additional kids were $8 each, and adults not skating got in free! I didn't have to cook or clean, and they provided everything I needed. Great family oriented place to have your next party, and they were so nice! I will admit it was hot. With a lot of children, heavy activity, no AC, and TX heat you can't expect it not to be. Its hot everywhere! The difference for me was not having to clean up my house after 25 guests, and no mosquito bites! read more

The bathrooms don't even have locks on the doors, skates were junk, roller skates and roller blades need to be replaced! The laces were about as worn out as the could have been! This place is about the worst skating rink I've ever been to. The place is too small and the facilities are out dated. They packed 8 parties into one section and issued ONE TABLE for each party. The parties all start at the same time....8 parties. Kids fingers are being ran over, no space to move around at all. For the kiddos that don't know how to skate; NORMALLY an adult can walk with the kids to help them...not here. They only way you can be on the floor is to buy skates yourself. THEN to get the trainer that the skaters can hold onto is 5 DOLLARS!! The food at the bar is OVERPRICED! For a small kid bag of chips is $1.25, as an example. The interior roof has the insulation exposed. Horrible in every shape and fashion of the word. I had to pay for my oldest daughter to enter the building and she wasn't even skating!!!! Killeen/Harker Heights/Copperas Cove really really has to do better with kid friendly establishments. read more

I had a birthday party for my daughter back on March 9, which was on a Saturday of 2012. 98 dollars for a complete package which includes the cake and decorations and add pizza slices is nice but, although it's tempting your child's health and others should come first. I could be called snooty by some, but when I go into an establishment I would like the furniture to be nice and not rundown...I'm all for the rustic and antique look but this was not it. The kicker for me was when I told them you know it's to hot when childrens cheeks are bright red, parents take there babies out of there clothes, and when every where you look people are covered in sweat. One of the ladies told me that there air conditions wiring was cut, so I told her to open the back doors or how about give people complementary water since its no fault to the paying customers. She told me that I could fill the pitcher (that I was told was not ment for water) up with water from the water fountain or you could pay a separate fee for another pitcher of soda. Now I was pissed, because this was for the children who were working up a harder sweat from skating then those who were sitting. So I pretty mutch started asking people if they were hot in from of the lady and of course everyone said they were hot. I went to the guy and pretty much told him it was that I didn't appreciate how the lady was talking to me and he said there was a miscommunication between us, because she thought that I was asking for the parents, since the party was for the children and not for the adults, the he also stated how the lady said some of the parents were drinking and eating some of the slices of pizza. I told the man that it was the adults at the table behind us that was doing that, I wanted to tell him if you didn't have your tables so close together you wouldn't get things mixed up (and just because we're black doesn't mean we all look alike......I'm just saying). In the end I pretty mutch told him that we will never have another party there, that I will not reccomend anyone to go and that I will be putting them on yelp. read more

I have brought my little ones to this skating rink a handful of times, but today was the first time I ever had a birthday party there. Shirley and Steve are awesome! So attentive, respectful, and friendly. Shirley was great with taking reservations and accommodating us with what we wanted. Steve was great with the party decorations, being the DJ, and helping out where he could. They were the only two working today, and they definitely had their hands full! I didn't see them break a sweat, and they still had smiles on their face at the end of the day! The price for a party is $98! That includes free admission for 8 kids to skate for 3 hours, pizza, ice cream, and cake. You can't beat that! The rink itself gives off an 80s feel, but kids and adults have fun nonetheless. The floor is huge, and they play all genres of music. There is a snack bar with miscellaneous food items and candies, there are arcade games in the back as well. They also have a good selection of trainer skates, rollerblades, and regular skates. Feel free to bring your own though! The only thing I didn't like was the bathroom. It is girls/boys combined with no privacy. The sink is outside of the bathrooms, and there was only bar soap to wash your hands. That grossed me out. I try not to use the bathroom or have my kids use it if I can help it. Other than that, 5 stars again and again! Will definitely be back, and will definitely have another birthday party here. my daugther had a birthday party today.This was the first time that I've been to Texas Skateland.First of all I would like to say that they charge everybody to get into the skating ring even if you're not skating first the man told me that adults don't have to pay until I said my 19-year-old daughter had to pay just to get in not to skate but to just walk n the door. and then he switched it up and said that is grandparents or parents don't have to pay second of all you get one large pizza and there's eight slices for each kid ,gets one slice i asked if I was allowed to order more pizzas they told me that there is know outside food or drinks . an extra pizza was 12 dollars. then when the pizza came they dont help You hand out the pizza to the kids nor help you pour the drinks then when the party was finished I was walking out the door with my daughter's presence and one of the guys that work the front counter ran up behind me and was asking me if I took their utensils he was looking through my bags that was uncalled for Texas Skateland one never see us in there ever again that was the worst party that I've ever been to so I suggest that you go to Chucky cheese or somewhere else read more

If I could give this place no stars or negative stars I would. This place is nasty. The skates are nasty. I purchased my my children their own skates so they wouldn't have to wear some that have been wore by hundreds of other people. I'm assuming the man was the owner, well he proceeded to ask me why I would buy skates like that for my children because they have the screws showing mind u they were flush with the plastic on the skates. Well him and his wife continue to tell me that they will scratch up their floors. ARE YOU SERIOUS!! So we go in and my daughters have to get their nasty skates. On top of it the roller blades they gave her are so nasty that the insides of them are falling out. I tell my daughter to tell them to give her another pair. He tells her to just pull it out and it will be fine. She attempts to try it again. It didn't work. I then take them back and tell him I need another pair and he asked if they were from the same girl and I tell him yes she is my daughter, then he finally traded them out. But the rollerblades they provide still have the screws on the outside. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! They need to close their doors for good. Lots of safety hazards for the children due to having clutter in the corners on the actual skate floor. I hope this helps someone from wasting money on this trash hole! read more
