Skeeters is synonymous with the Grove! It's busy most nights and is a great spot to chill at the bar or enjoy pub food. The restaurant is known for its ribs and chicken wings. On a warm summer night, sitting out on the patio overlooking Lake Huron is about as good as it gets. I've been to this restaurant/bar a few times but on this particular occasion I had a french onion soup and a veggie/rice dish. The soup broth was delicious (not too salty) and it had just the right amount of cheese and bread. The veggie/rice dish was tasty and the serving size was huge (I could only finish half). Service at Skeeters is always excellent and extremely friendly, tonight was no exception. The severs are great with kids and always check to make sure you've got everything you need. View of the lake and friendly service. Had their dinner special and the meat loaf and mashed potatoes were perfect for a cool day.

"The kitchen is closed!" That's what we heard when we finally got the attention of the waiter after being ignored for the entire meal. We had informed the waiter that we wanted to order two meals to go towards the end of our meal but we were never informed of the kitchen closing. Additional, no drink refreshes, nothing at all! Great food, absolutely horrible bartenders. Manager makes excuses for horrible service! If you're sitting at the bar you shouldn't have to continuously interrupt the bartender from eating, texting on their phone or chatting with coworkers for a drink! Poor service on a recent visit home. I'm not sure if they've changed ownership since 2022, but the waitresses were either fawning over a couple select people or busy socializing together. Nowhere to be seen when you want something. First time in my life I gave ZERO tip! I doubt I'll ever go back. Too bad, because the place USED to be good. read more

This is mainly a chicken, ribs, and beer kind of place. The patio area has a great view of Lake Huron, which surprisingly few restaurants in this area have. I couldn't decide, so I got a chicken and rib combo platter. The chicken is broasted, which is code for "deep fried." It was nice and tender, and the ribs were also very good. Sides include veg of the day (corn on the cob) and starch (bland potato wedges). I was here with a group, and everyone seemed to like what they ordered (wings, salad, pasta). Service was very good. You'll get a hand wipe packet with your napkins. Don't lose it 'cause you're going to need it! Nice beer selection, too. read more

It just doesn't have any contenders in the neighborhood to dethrone it,but that said stop resting on your geographic location. Its time for a change starting with the menu , it lacks anything interesting/dynamic for the palete. Simply lacks any wow factor and it's a shame the food doesn't pair well with the views from the patio. read more

I love Skeeter's..It's in a beautiful spot along the lake. Many motorcyle tours stop in in the summer time to enjoy this locale. It's a casual grill and bar, with good service and a diverse menu. The Wings aren't on the menu, but this place might have the BEST wings in Sarnia. Totally awesome for a wing fan. read more

Visiting friends at their nearby home in Brights Grove/Sarnia....we had lunch today and we're somewhat underwhelmed by the pricy but overcooked and and bland flavored burgers. Our local host was disappointed by the cold "cow" corn cob, and mostly by the dry and re-heated chicken 'n ribs. My wife was fine with the fried "broasted" pickerel, but she was let down by the cold french fries. The pleasant waitress worked hard but wasn't too up on the limited beer offerings available. On the shore of Lake Huron???this place should be making people want to be here for lots of reasons besides the view. read more

Super negative experience. The food was terrible, steak fajitas must have been the lowest quality of beef technically safe for human consumption. My wife had a "stir fry" that was just microwaved frozen vegetables, so over cooked they were inedible. The chef that created the menu should be embarrassed at its current state. All of this of course doesn't even address the worst part of the experience, the service: dinner took over 2 hours, our waitress was inattentive, would disappear for long stretches of time, and when she was around stunk of cigarettes. This place has a fairly solid reputation of being the place to eat in the grove, but last night was that single worst restaurant experience I have ever personally had. read more

I was looking for a place to have lunch along Lake Huron on the way back from Toronto to Detroit. Found this place on Yelp. Was a little worried about the somewhat low average rating. However I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. And it had a great view of the lake. So, mission accomplished. read more

Iv been to Skeeter Barlow's twice, the first time was 2 months ago I went with a company of 7 and made no previous reservations. When we arrived we were greeted by a large bald man waiting to seat their customers, I asked him if there was a table available on the patio to which he replied, not for you. I thought I had heard wrong,so I asked again too which he replied, "we do not have any open tables for you, try back in an hour". Slightly puzzled I walked back to tell everyone we had to go elsewhere when a family of 6 asks to be seated at the patio *with no prior reservation* and is immediately sat. We walked out and hadn't gone back until a week ago. On my second visit I was finally seated and got to enjoy the atmosphere, It holds many flat screen tv's and family décor that's very pub style while having the odd marine décor. The Bar is small but has a large selection, with unreasonable bar prices and uncomfortable chairs. Finally the food I ordered was a large Burger with chicken fingers for appetizers. The burger was overcooked and dry, the fries were bland and overcooked, and yes the chicken fingers were undercooked*sneaking suspicion their deep fryer might need work*. I have yet to return to try other specials being that the price range and my experience was unreasonable,rude, and in my opinion *one gentleman in particular* racist. Lunch on Saturday May 12, 2018. 2 orders of Seafood Melt. Menu promised "baby shrimp, succulent crab rich dill mayo and Monterey Jack". What arrived was two, dried out barely warmed buns covered in what looked like marble cheddar, melted to cover seafood flavoured Pollack, also known as imitation seafood. The salads were littered with brown bits of lettuce and the coffee had been left on the warming plate far too long. The two orders were picked at, but not eaten. The server asked if we wanted to take the food with us. I pointed out that the baby shrimp and succulent crab was fake, she replied that it wasn't fake, it was imitation. Nothing was done about the complaint. We paid the bill and left. I won't return; while I can overlook bad coffee and rusty lettuce, I can't tolerate fraud on a menu. read more

On the way home to MI from Ontario, I got hungry and Skeeters showed up on the GPS as a good place to eat -- no international roaming, so no YELP :-( .... still, the food was good pub grub and the staff did a good job of serving and tending to my needs. I have eaten here so many times i can't count. It has a nice view of the lake, great food (awesome wings), good service and decent enough prices. I would recommend giving this place a try. There is a bar, indoor and outdoor eating areas and a pool table. They also take reservations. Hope this helps! read more

BEST WINGS IN TOWN! If you want more of a meal, the chicken dinners are also to die for! Great menu selection, only bad thing is you definitely need a reservation on a Friday or Saturday night, and in the summer. Most of the wait staff members are excellent as well! read more

I had to make a yelp account just to stress that this place was once great. Ever since the owner has opened a new one in forest it all seems to have gone downhill. My family and I used to come here when I was a kid and enjoy the atmosphere and food. My son and I ate here last night and their chicken was extremely over done and tasted like the frier hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Also almost certain my son received food poisoning from eating this meal. Will not be going back. read more
