We've been going to Ski Shores for many years and it seems every few years they are under new ownership/management. You never know if they are open or not, but we hadn't been since the latest ownership change and decided to go. We are well aware of the parking situation and it is what it is so no complaints there. However, now there is very little actual service. You order from a QR code that requires a ton of setup. As has been stated in many other reviews, the prices have skyrocketed. The burgers/sandwiches are $15-$20+ and don't come with any sides. The kids meals are all over $10. The beers are canned and range in price from ok to concert/sporting event-level ridiculousness. The food also doesn't come out all at once. They bring things as they are ready so each person gets their food at a different time making for a very awkward eating situation. I will say that the quality of the food has improved. I used to think the food was just so-so and you came for the atmosphere. While I appreciate that the food is better, given the high prices and lack of service we will not be coming here very often. read more

Ambiance is the best thing they have going for them. The ordering process recently changed and it is AWFUL! It used to be much easier. But either way, service is mediocre at best. They never check on you. Just drop off your food that you ordered through the app so if anything is wrong, there's rarely a human to help you. I have been here twice within the last couple of months, once with out of town family and once with just 2 of us. With 5 of us we ordered just simple burgers and sandwich along with a couple of glasses of wine and some fried pickles. It was just under $250. $22 for a ham and turkey sandwich is ridiculous. The food came out at different times. I had finished my burger before 2 of the meals had been brought out. I went back last week, just 2 of us, thinking maybe they were just very busy the last time. Ordered an appetizer and 2 burgers. My burger came out, then 10 minutes later the other burger. We finished those. Tried to get staff attention for the appetizer but no one around. We were about to leave and the appetizer came out. I said to the guy who brought them out, thats a bit late, we've finished our main course. He shrugged and walked off. I've never written a bad review in my life, but this place S-U-C-K-S!!! First of all, the food is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced for what you get. I ordered a 16 dollar burger only to find out to my own dismay that it didn't come with fries. The burger itself was soggy, gross, and poorly assembled. I had to spend an extra NINE DOLLARS for a side of french fries in the same order as my burger and had to wait 20 minutes to get them AFTER my burger. I was already done eating. On top of all of this, the "service"- if you can even call it that- is pathetic. You order from your phone with a QR code on your table and a random waitstaff brings it to you-- and their suggested tip amount is *TWENTY FIVE PERCENT* WHAT?!?! For WHAT EXACTLY? Not only that, but you also have to get up and get your own refills of water because half the time the water runners aren't doing their job. I'm not sure when this place reopened, but it was great after a hike at turkey trail. The service was good and the food was good, although a little pricey... but most things are these days. The ambiance outside is wonderful. Ordering food you must scan the QR code then checkout through toasttab. The fried shrimp and catfish were good. Sure, the fact you're on the water is great, and the views are fantastic, but the rest of the place is very mediocre to down-right poor. Besides the fact we waited an hour for our food but the fact that the waitress made ignorant comments towards our group to make an excuse for their flaw is not cool. Ski Shores Cafe is a fun spot on Lake Austin. The carp and turtles were going crazy by our picnic bench which was cool to see. There is plenty of outdoor seating and a playground for the little ones. The queso was pretty good but I wasn't a huge fan of the shrimp tacos which had too many diced mangos. The fish tacos may have been better. Ski Shores is also know for their burgers so that's what I'll get next time. read more

She replied "We still have a lot of orders to go, this is how American restaurants are." I didn't even want to argue back at that point if she even argued back like that. I didn't know different types of restaurants function a certain way. If you are busy, you are busy, not because you are an Asian or European or American restaurant. Not sure why it averages 3 stars; the service was very fast and the location on the river/lake is excellent, with bonus views of swimming turtles, bass, minnows, herons and a snowstorm of cottonwood seeds. I LOVE that mustard vinaigrette btw- pls don't ever leave that off the menu! It's such a charming spot and they do a fabulous job. Thanks so much for having such an enjoyable spot for your patrons. I love this place! What's not to love about a MM restaurant? I have to say, I never visited before the new management so I have nothing to compare. I didn't love the phone ordering system on my first visit, but now that I've been there several times it's pretty idiot proof. Once you've entered your info the first time, you don't have to do it on your next visit. Food comes out quick as lightning so it's good for us with our "starving" kids. Always try to get a table on the turf as the tables on the dock are a little scary with kids. Kind of wish there was better railing but also...just watch your kids. The hostess will always tell you it's like a 50 minute wait in a busy day but I've never had to wait that long. Just get a drink at the bar and enjoy the views while you wait.
