Visited here for lunch today, it was sunny so we sat dockside, the view is beautiful! My friend had been there before and said sometimes there are turtles and ducks to feed but we didn't see any today. We both got the grilled chicken sandwich, it was well made and delicious. I got the side salad and it was really good! Full of fresh veggies and cheese. We didn't get alcohol but they have a full bar if that is your thing. This is a cute little place, very out of the way, I think it would be a nice evening date spot. Prices were what you would expect for dinner on the lake. Is Covid19 still happening? I'm not shore but ski shores is poppin'. They have a fire pit, Lake Austin water front seating, dog friendly areas, plenty of sun coverage, and the sweetest staff. They had veggie options for my son and he chose the Spicy Veggie Burger - he even said it was one of the top three best burgers he's ever had! My other son and I had the original burger and we also thought it was delicious. When coming to a waterfront spot you sort of expect the view to be great but not necessarily the food to be. We were happy it wasn't just bar food but a great burger/taco spot as well. The Beeeeach Please was a rum pineapple cocktail and it was refreshing and light for summer. I think my more accurate review would be 3.5 stars. The best part about this restaurant is the location. It's right on the lake and has amazing views! There is a lot of seating available, some tables are covered with a small roof and some aren't. We came on a Saturday morning. They open at 9AM on Saturday's and are serving breakfast tacos. The breakfast tacos were almost 100% amazing.... the one thing that I didn't like was the tortilla. It tasted store bought and processed. The rest of the ingredients tasted yummy and fresh. Salsa is .25 if you ask for extra.... you only get 1 small container of salsa per 2 tacos - I'm Mexican so that DEFINITELY was NOT enough for me. The salsa was not spicey at all. It had an average taste to it, definitely not amazing. The parking lot isn't the biggest, but since we came so early, there was a lot of places to park. Customer service was okay. The kid we had seemed like he was new as he didn't really seem confident when taking our order or discussing with us the menu. Overall, I would definitely come back here because the ambiance is amazing and the lake views are worth it. COVID: the staff were wearing masks when taking orders. Guests were not wearing masks and I don't think they are required too, but since it's an outdoor establishment, it didn't feel too bad. The staff was not wearing gloves. How can the food get more expensive yet taste so much worse. I ordered the shrimp po boy which was inedible because of their awful sauce. The overly tart sauce was everywhere and even made eating the individual shrimp gross. For over $20 I'm genuinely depressed I couldn't even eat a quarter of it. The very definition of a great find. I was on my way to Turkey Creek for a weekend walk with the dog when I saw a sign for breakfast tacos, Saturdays and Sundays only, 9-11 only. It was like a weird movie where the place only exists for the main character. So I turn down the road and past some incredibly posh houses, and just when I'd said to myself I certainly went too far, it was right there. On the water. Like, *on* the water (or just off it), at a dock, with the sunlight glistening off the river. Perfect spot for a breakfast taco. Great staff, and it was a taco I'd eat again. It wasn't earth-shattering or life-changing, but it was hearty and comfort-foody. They also had an outdoor area just for dog owners to bring their dogs, with water bowls and everything. And bloody marys! (And Pacman and Joust.) Full disclosure: I can't vouch for the bloody mary; I didn't have time today. Next time! Long story short, this will be a new ritual of mine: dog, daughter (or friend), tacos, bloody mary, and a hike afterward!! Just, don't everybody do the same thing. AMAZING!!! It was my first time in Austin in a while and I didn't know where to go to sit by the water eat and have a few drinks, but I have found this beautiful place with a nice scenery ! Food was 7.5/10 The atmosphere was definitely a 8 but let me tell you. As I thought this place couldn't be any better, I went to go ask a margarita and me being me, I'm an indecisive person but my bartender Carina she's definitely one to remember. Made me feel at home, comfortable and gave me time to think on and recommended me a few drinks. We had a great experience here! We went on a Friday at 4:30. It was easy to find a seat and they had live music. You order your food through a QR code on the table and it comes so fast! We went during happy hour and the burgers and drinks were half price. The food was good and fresh. The kids were entertained by the lake, boats, music, turf mounds(there is no playground anymore but some good turf hills), and pickle ball court! There is also some sand for kids to play in and corn hole. The toasttab app is a bit tricky to split a check on but you can go to the counter and they can help you if you have a large party. Ambiance, friendliness and setting were great, but the food was mixed and service left a lot to be desired. First off--if you have a shellfish allergy, avoid at all costs. Everthing is grilled or deep fried with shellfish and they make no attempts to address this. (I've traveled extensively and even dedicated seafood places will grab a clean pan to avoid contamination). I had to get up and find a server to ask for water because there was no staff asking if we needed anything. We ordered chips/queso/salsa as an appetizer, but ran out of salsa and chips there was maybe 1/4 cup of salsa. Again, I had to get up and ask staff. I couldn't find on menu to order online. I felt like I was on vacation. Beautiful views, great casual American food, and right on the lake. Too bad we didn't come for happy hour, but after a day on the water, this is a great place to grab a casual bite or drink. Service is friendly also. I live in the neighborhood and every time I go by it is crowded. My son got off early on tuesday 8/23 and we got there by 4:45. There were only 2 others in the restaurant. The employees let us know you had to place your order on your phone (hassle for me but I had my son order). We ordered wings and extra blue cheese and a beer to start. Wings were delivered quickly without plates. Did our best to eat without plates & brew and could not find any employees (we were only people at a table). Final found a runner and he acted like it was a bother but he got 2 small plates and the beer. Fortunately my son delayed our entre order. His chicken tenders and fries came out 2 minutes after he ordered (precook ?) . The runner disappeared and my burger was no where to be found. I finally got my burger and never received a 2nd beer that was ordered with the chicken. We still could not find employees. They never cleared the plates from appetizers. I kept telling my son this will be so much better service than the old ski shores because of the group that took it over (not). I finally walked up to the bar to see if they would get the beer and our runner came over and said they were having problems with the printer ? Did I mention we were the only customers at a table ? Overpriced /horrible service/no one to ask for help/feels like some runners are delivering some orders they receive on their phone when they get time- not sure how they would handle a busy weekend. Ski Shores have been a favorite and a staple in my life since 1987. I have seen many changes over the years and am in disbelief after a visit tonight. We stood at the hist stand for 5 mins with lots of people walking by and nobody acknowledging us. You scan a QR code to see the menu and order. No more waiters. The ordering system doesn't allow you to type specifics. My favorite, and their top selling item, the Border Burger, is no longer on the menu and the prices are ridiculous. Almost twice the price as last year, 2 burgers and 1 fry for $50. No drinks. Everything we ordered came quickly but when we needed more water, napkins, doggie bag... there was nobody around. Despite the service, of course the app suggested 20% at a minimum. Spoke with the manager who said there is new ownership and the menu is now seasonal. He dismissed my concerns and let me know the place is making "more money than it ever has". I found that odd. since it was less than 30% full at 7:30 on a beautiful Friday night. SS has been a my spot for dates, out-of-towners, boat breaks and even business meetings. Whether or not you are a fan of SS skip the disappointment and enjoy a burger at Casino el Camino. read more

Our kids were playing on their playground so we waited near there for a table where we could still keep an eye on them. When one opened we sat down. Now using the Toast app. Impersonal, clunky, difficult to use, payment system requires putting card info into their system. Really bad app and poor navigation too. Food: now using frozen ingredients for fries, union rings, etc. Massively overpriced by 30%. Margaritas now from frozen mix. Kitchen backs up and your drink order is delivered after you get your food. No more fish sandwich. The management and cooks don't seem to care about the quality or care of the food. We were given a raw piece of chicken, and the drinks came out awhile AFTER our food came out. Hello! We came for the advertised family movie night and came early for dinner. The service was very poor and manager and bartender were very rude and unresponsive to our polite requests. My partner and I have both been in service industry for years and understand things happen but this was ran very poorly and they had little organization and communication skills. Would love to talk to the owner about this experience as we come here often. So way tooo late they got the movie started (different movie then advertised ) and it had no sound. What a great location, few changes and it would be great. Went Friday at 5pm. Had a DJ blaring music, moved to 3 different locations to try and find a place where we could hear each other!! The staff were incredibly friendly and my husband and I were excited to stop in to this beautiful lake front eatery while we were in the neighborhood. My chief complaint is that when I ordered the burger medium rare, I was told by my server that the restaurant had to cook all burgers medium to medium well based on a requirement from the meat manufacturer. He told me "I just don't want you to get sick". While I commend the honesty, I was appalled that this restaurant is not purchasing meat of sufficient quality to cook to the diner's desired preparation. I immediately changed my order to something different, though the realization that the restaurant simply does not source quality ingredients was a lingering concern. Again, I am grateful for the honesty of the staff, and the ambience of the restaurant was great. But as one of the only lake front eateries on Lake Austin, it appears they can continue to thrive without delivering quality ingredients. Even a simple burger! Such a shame. read more

Service was great and they're dog friendly for outside seating. They even had a bowl to serve water for the doggies. The food was really good, the view is beautiful and calming, and the service was very friendly and timely. I will recommend the place and be back to try more items off the menu. It's a simple menu with drinks and some food but it is a cafe. Don't expect some elaborate menu with all these choices of items. I hate to say it but stay clear for now as they get their act together. While this is an iconic Austin restaurant, they clearly have some problems to iron out. While the food was ok, the main issue was they way over charged my credit card when I was at their unannounced opening. I've been there three times since it opened "under new management" First two times I figured it was "under new management" So... inconsistent weight staff plus not enough weight stuff. yesterday we ordered 1 hamburger, 1 Cobb salad, 2 $14 drinks. Almost $100. Now granted my tip was 20% of it. And the hamburger didn't come with anything, not one single french fry, the hamburger was good however. Oh I did order a side of onion rings. The atmosphere is awesome they've done really cool things to make it family friendly you can bring your dog kids have playgrounds you can even play pickleball because they added a brand new pickleball court right in the middle of a field on top of a septic system that reeks and not one lick of shade. Ski shores Cafe is doing really well under this new management but there is hardly enough parking. people are parking on the side streets and the neighbors are starting to put rocks everywhere so that ski shore customers can't park in front of their homes Now the ordering system is online. My phone was acting up with the WiFi. The waiter wouldn't even just take our drink order without being logged in. So heaven forbid you show up without a cell phone. read more
