No stars Review for Skillets This was a very disappointing experience and a terrible start to our family day. We waited over 45 minutes outside despite there being plenty of empty tables. Our party included two children and three adults. Once seated, we waited another 10 minutes before even getting coffee, and only after asking. The food was poorly prepared and tasteless. * The French toast was advertised as generously dipped in eggs and made with sourdough bread. It was dry, bland, and did not resemble sourdough at all. * The biscuits were hard, and the gravy was unidentifiable and did not resemble southern-style food in any way. * The corned beef hash looked raw and unappetizing and completely ruined our child meal. * The potatoes were absolutely awful. We had planned our day around visiting Lion Country Safari, so after investing nearly two hours between waiting and service, leaving was not an option. We left still hungry and frustrated, needing to find lunch elsewhere but short on time. Our waitress was pleasant and absolutely deserved the 25 percent tip we left her. However, service overall was disorganized. At one point she bumped into our table and did not even realize she was our assigned server. I had to explain that we had been waiting long enough and needed our children order taken immediately. To make matters worse, when we were leaving, a staff member exited the ladies restroom, which smelled terrible, and walked straight out without washing her hands. She passed directly in front of us. Between the excessive wait, poor food quality, lack of attentiveness, and hygiene concerns, this experience was unacceptable. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

Sunday brunch at Skillets with Sophia. What a great way to start the week. Sat on the outside patio. Enjoying a sunny day with our best friends from med school and residency who left the winters of PA behind to live in Florida. Celebrating life, family and friendship. Ordered a Mediterranean Skillet with skillet potatoes and a sunny side up egg. (You know I already looked at the quite extensive menu the night before.) My hubby ordered the same to match me. Our friends got a My Big Fat Greek Omelet and a Heathy Omelet with onions added. The skillet potatoes are more like a scalloped potato casserole. Milk, cream, cream cheese, scallions and shredded potatoes. So rich and creamy. The Mediterranean Skillet adds grilled red onions, mushrooms, peppers, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes and a generous sprinkle of goat cheese. Topped with two eggs, it is decadently delicious. Bread options included scones, toast or biscuits. Our table tried all of them. My scone was so delicious. I only ate half because my skillet was so delicious and so filling. My friend loved her biscuit and my hubby loved his scone. Sophia was great. She kept checking on us with a warm smile and refills of coffee. Lots of parking on a Sunday morning. A great breakfast for four. Very reasonable prices for fresh skillets and omelets. Hopefully we will be back on another visit to the Sunshine State. read more

I've seen this place many times, always saying to myself 'I need to try that place already'. Well, we finally did! Plenty of seating both inside and outside, no wait, and staff was friendly. Diner vibes, but cleaning than the typical dive diner. Everybody's order was on point and we were all pleased with our meals. The skillets were good, a little disappointing that it came is a dish and not a small cast iron, could've really improved the skillet potatoes layer. The bacon is clearly good quality pig, but could've used a little crisp to it. The OJ was fresh squeezed and served in a frosty beer mug. Never had OJ in a frosty beer mug before, but I'm not mad at it, and the juice was delicious. I was looking for a breakfast spot in the Wellington area to celebrate my mom's birthday so I found this one on google. Apparently they have other locations although I'd never heard of the establishment. The menu has a good variety to choose from, even offering chicken sausage which is always my alternative since I don't eat beef or pork. I got the 2 egg special which was pretty average in flavor, the biscuit i got was also a bit hard. I tried one of their iced coffee drinks but I've had better. Our server actually took a while to bring that out even while everybody else got their beverages relatively quickly. We were seated close to the kitchen in the middle area in a circular table with 6 adults and 1 high top. I felt like it was a bit hard for patrons and servers to get by without having to squeeze through between the booths nearby us. Overall, it was ok. I don't see myself going back but I'm glad others at my table enjoyed their food (the bacon avocado dish looked pretty tasty). read more

First time. Bright clean attractive interior. Nice assortment of teapots and ceramic roosters add a homey touch. Lots of staff. Nice menu with plenty of breakfast options to choose from Had to wait for close to 10 minutes to be seated in spite of many open tables. Why do restaurants do this? Friendly waitress got coffee right away and then disappeared. Had to finally go to the front to get our order placed. The food was very tasty and plentiful. Reasonable prices by today's standards. It's came up quick YAY! The service has been very non attentive in spite of numerous staff members on duty. The ambient inside is cozy and there is an outdoor patio. But the best for last. The fresh cold orange juice is like my Mom used to fix for me. The breakfast sandwich is spectacular. Newly renovated bright and open space. The staff is super accommodating and friendly. They make it a point to open the door for you when coming or going too. Free refills on coffee with assorted creamers available. The temperature is just hot enough to where it's not scalding but drinkable as soon as you've dazzled it up with sugar and/or creamer. Not horrible black, but better with a little something. The skillet contents were really hot, had to let it cool down a bit. So enjoyed the scone of the day, raisin, in the meantime. Not much of a scone person, but figured I'd give it ago since they're "famous" for that and their biscuits. It was indeed enjoyable, light and flaky sprinkled with a bit of sugar on top. Was good on its own, but also enjoyed it with a bit of raspberry jelly available as part of the assortment of condiments on the table. Tried my partners waffle which was also very tasty, and not boring or cakey. Good on its own or with a bit of syrup, but didn't need much. I'm glad I got the fried eggs for my skllet, the scramble eggs are well just scrambled eggs. The fruit cup was just enough and good assortment of fresh strawberries, pineapple, and grape. We did get a side of bacon, noted to be on the crispier side, and it was done perfectly, good cut thickish piece of bacon too. Back to the skillet which was able to cool down a bit in between trying other things, the Mediterranean was good, but probably would try something else next. I think I misjudged having or wanting kalmata olives in my breakfast. Will definitely be back, might just try and conquer the breakfast casserole next. read more

We have been waiting for a very long time for something to take over this spot that was once an outdated IHOP. We are long-time Wellington residents, and we definitely welcome the new dining addition to the neighborhood. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious, and the service was fast. The layout is great with the open kitchen design with eat at the counter. I was little taken back by the cost of ordering two coffees on the bill at $7.90. To me, that's expensive. read more

This location is fairly new, so they are still working out their kinks with service. However, we still had an enjoyable experience. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The interior of the restaurant is very open and bright, it felt like walking into a big open space. And the decor was pretty cute and themed. For food, we ordered the wafflepetizer that came with three different syrups to dip into. It came with a strawberrry, orange, and maple syrups to dip into. The best one was, by far, the maple syrup. The strawberry was good but not as sweet as I would have liked and the orange was extremely tart. If you like orange then you'll love that. My husband ordered the Avocado Bacon Skillet, he said it was good and was not as heavy as he thought it would be. I had the Breakfast Casserole and it blew my mind! It was extremely flavorful and savory. I enjoyed it more than I expected. The only thing I would change is the skillet potatoes that it comes with. Skillet is kind of unusual. They definitely make good skillet dinners and several of our people ordered those. I ordered the pecan pumpkin pancakes with two eggs ups. We had a wonderful server who brought us pictures of coffee and we ordered our breakfast. My son Michael ordered The homemade corned beef hash skillet and he said it was the best corned beef has she's ever had. It had long pieces of corned beef as though they shredded it and added it to the potatoes on the bottom of the skillet. They serve really awesome biscuits so don't forget to ask for one while you're there. The homemade pecan pumpkin pancakes had an incredible pumpkin flavor as well as a toasted pecan flavor. They have really good syrup. I don't know what it is, but it is better than normal at a pancake house and I truly enjoyed the pancakes. I would highly recommend the pancakes to anybody that goes there We sat outside on the patio because we had brought a dog along, so I would say that they are very dog friendly. read more

Sunday breakfast at Skillets was a better than average offering from a breakfast place, in a sea of breakfast places all competing for that weekend crowd. The food was good (lighter and airy whipped omelettes) and the options were plentiful. The menu is almost daunting in its scope. There are options to suit any breakfast enthusiast. The wait wasn't bad for a table, and our server was pleasant and efficient despite the rush of a Sunday morning service (Thanks Paige, you were great!). Food came quickly and it was very good, and with a little time to develop their processes could be great. If I had to be critical, I would say that their signature Skillets potatoes were the least impressive offering. The freshly baked cranberry orange scones stole the show. In my opinion, the best part about Skillets is the little touches that demonstrate a care for the diner. Iced coffee that isn't just hot coffee dumped over some ice that melts by the time it gets to the table. Creamer, butter, and condiment options beyond your basic breakfast joint. There is a little room for improvement in the food, but it's a place worth adding to your breakfast rotation. I'm gonna give it another try soon and see if I can revise it up from a 4-star to a 5-star. read more

We have eaten at skillets about 4 times since it opened. The ambience is very upbeat, bright and welcoming. The hostesses are extremely friendly and accommodating. Our servers are always warm, cheerful and knowledgeable about the items on the menu . Sophia is the best server we have had there . My daughter and I decided to try Skillets to celebrate her birthday instead of Original Pancake House (which we both love). What a disappointment! When we first walked in nobody greeted us and we weren't sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves. We saw a waiter and waitress coming and going but they wouldn't make eye contact. Finally a young girl came to seat us but wasn't friendly when I asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves. Our waiter was very polite but offered no help or suggestions. I told him it was my daughter's birthday and he never said anything! Normally one would say Happy Birthday. My daughter ordered grits and biscuits (which she had to wait for since they were still in the oven) and I ordered Crepe Suzette --which was inedible with this disgusting tart orange sauce. I literally couldn't eat it so I ordered Belgian waffles. They were so awful--soggy and tasted like dinner rolls--not at all Belgian waffles. Found out why--made with yeast. I had to ask for whipped cream and I never did see syrup. We both had the orange juice but it didn't taste like fresh squeezed. Anyway what a crappy birthday present for her. Prices are too high to have do many things wrong. At least we weren't charged for my crepe Suzette. I don't think we will go back. read more

The portions were typical large American portions, and the food was delicious. I had the potato pancake, which I probably wouldn't have again only because you just don't have a potato pancake unless you are in a Jewish deli, but it was still good. Place looked nice and clean, 5-10 min wait was not bad. When we sat down we waited a while until the waitress came and took half our drink order. When we got our watered down coffee with no creamer. Had to steal the creamer from another table. I was able to order my other drink and food and I got cut off in the middle of my full order. Food was unsalted, grits were watered down, hash browns were cold and barely browned. Waffle was disgusting and had to ask for syrup and butter after it got cold because the waitress was too busy to check up on us. All of the adult beverages have only one option, titos vodka. Disappointing. We ordered a bunch of stuff (first time there) eggs benedict, Denver skillet, corned beef hash with eggs over easy, a side of pork sausage and oatmeal. The poached eggs were over cooked, the Denver skillet had no flavor, oatmeal was average, the biscuits had a cinnamon flavor, and the housemade corned beef was kinda sweet. But, the decaf coffee, the pork sausage and the grits were great. However, when they asked how was everything, we informed them of the concerns/problems, they offered no atonement. I had breakfast there this morning in the private dining room with 10 men from my neighborhood. The restaurant was not busy, but the service was extremely slow. We had to go out and ask for a waitress to get our coffee and breakfast order. I ordered the2 egg breakfast avocado omelet with tomatoes. The avocado was nothing more than a garnish. The eggs were dry and overcooked. The tomatoes should have been cooked inside the omelet but a few diced tomatoes were sprinkled on top. The fruit cup was nothing more than 5 or 6 pieces of pineapple and grapes. At no time did the waitress come by and ask if everything was ok. Can today for the first time. Server seemed overwhelmed. Bacon and Canadian bacon are absolutely not the same thing. Serves very runny eggs instead of over medium. Has browns, fresh from freezer, into pan, probably 5 seconds before served to me. Browned on outside of some, cold, frozen on inside. French toast, battered, pan, 2 seconds, served. Bread was stI'll as white as an untouched slice from an unopened loaf bag. As a breakfast junkie, I had such high hopes only to leave disappointed. I still tipped our server well since she did seem overwhelmed and she didn't cook the food. Hopefully this is just a one off and the kitchen gets it together. read more
