I usually don't write reviews but after my experience getting a facial I had to... The place is a little confusing to find... It is actually inside of the Anaheim Memorial medical offices. The waiting area was quaint and the ladies were nice. HOWEVER... It was the absolute worst facial I've ever had in my life. They did not ask me to fill out any paperwork... Or ask me if I had any allergies or preferences. In fact, there was little talking at all. She did not ask me why I was there for a facial or what I had hoped to gain from the facial. She took me to a room and never once said a word during the entire facial. She never told me what she was doing or what products she was using or even where she was going when she left for about 10-15 minutes while my mask was on (which, btw, was a peel off mask??? Seems weird to me...) But the absolute worst part was the pain. Someone else posted on yelp about it hurting - I should have listened. Idk WHAT she was doing - it felt like sharp stinging pain - almost like needles jabbing my face. Today is the day after - and I'm super sore, especially on my forehead. I will NEVER go back there. I definitely have different standards for a small business style spa like Skin D'Amour versus a large day spa like Burke Williams. That being said, I would rate this place closer to 3.5 STARS, but not quite 4. I had a Swedish/deep tissue massage with Amber. I had her start with deep tissue on my neck, shoulders, and back. I wanted to get the huge knot out of my left side for about 1/3 of the hour and then finish with a more relaxing Swedish massage for the last 2/3. I could tell that she wasn't going to keep with that ratio, so I reminded her that I didn't want to focus on deep tissue that long. Although she made some progress on my knot, it wasn't worth all the pain and it really didn't help. She also only massaged my back side and never had me flip over. That was really unusual and made my massage feel incomplete. The ambiance of the waiting area was good, except the "relaxing" music was so loud, I had to ask them to turn it down. They also tried to cross sell me a manicure while I was waiting for my bf's massage that was before mine to finish. When I was leaving you could also smell all the nail fumes in the waiting area. The ambiance in the massage room was very sterile, even for being in a medial building. They had the overhead florescent lighting and vertical blinds over the window that were open. It was so bright I couldn't relax. Not really worth it, even at the Groupon price. read more

This massage place is terrible. I've been here once before with my girlfriend and it was nice, respectable. So I decided to get my Mother a massage for her birthday, paid 30 dollars in advance and was told she could make an appointment anytime. She has called over 10 times and they refuse to service her with no response. She either gets voicemail or rerouted perpetually and eventually just hung up on. I tried calling myself multiple times, it rings and just goes to voicemail. Effectively this establishment just stole my money. This is unacceptable business practice. I am a MedSpa Guru, and I love to be pampered. Amy is truly an artist, and a perfectionist when it comes to waxing. I have had a few Brazilian waxes in the past, and the technique varies depending on the esthetician. Needless to say, I was, and note I said "was" still searching for that perfect Brazilian. Well I believe I have found it. Amy used a hard wax, which made my nether regions as smooth as silk. Was it painful? Uh yeah, however the momentary pain is well worth the silky smoothness that was the end result. Amy's technique is quick, and thorough. She was gentle, "as she could be" and talked me through each part of the process, and explained in detail what she was doing. The Spa is located next to a hospital in a seven story building, and if you, like me, are used to a stand-alone bells and whistles kinda spa; this is not that type of place. They normally deal with people who are preparing for a medical procedure, or recovering from one. That to me makes me like it all the better because, everything is done to a high medical standard. When you walk in, there is a small waiting room, its very Zen with quiet music, and soft lighting. I felt very comfortable, and relaxed while I waited for my appointment. By the way, I also had my armpits waxed, and they look and feel awesome!!! I plan on having my eyebrows done next. I am so glad I found Amy, I feel like my search is over. read more

Just got off the phone with this place of business. Tried to schedule a Brazilian and at first the girl on the phone said they were out of wax. I was like, "what????". And then she said it was because the person who does the waxing is on vacation. So I asked if I couldn't schedule the appointment because they're out of wax or because the waxer is on vacation. She said, "both". Very confusing. If they would have just said there were no appointments available for the day I wanted I would have scheduled it for another day and moved on with my life. Soo I went today for a European facial with led lights she did the high frequency machine and a micro current I think it was . So I bought a living social voucher for this place and I scheduled my appointment. 3 days before my appointment, they call me to say they rescheduled my appointment because their nail tech hurt her foot. Wtf, so I told them I had to call off from work to get that day off. So I had to call off another day of work because they automatically rescheduled me. I'm sure Amy is much better at facials than she is Brazillian Waxing. She is a very cool and nice lady... I felt comfortable with her. The office was nice and private. Unfortunately it was the worst wax I've ever gotten. I have gotten several brazillian waxes before and never had any problems... but with Amy she took a very long time (literally near an hour) and had to go over certain places more than once. 3 days later and my area looks like I shaved with a dull razor. It is still sore to the touch like someone had been punching me in the vagina which is probably due to the hard wax which is great at getting hair but very hard and harsh on sensitive softer tissue areas. I have broken hairs and a lot of pain. I use 2 other ladies to do my waxing and they are very fast, efficient, and half the price. Will never ever ever go to Skin D'Amour for a wax again... AMAZING MASAGE!!! My girlfriend and I found a groupon code online for a 60-minute full-body massage and decided to check it out. It was my first time getting a massage, so I didn't really know what to expect. However, my girlfriend has had professional massages done before, and she says that her experience here deserves all the praise it could get. We had been complaining of muscle soreness on our backs and shoulders for a few weeks now, so we decided to ask about deep tissue massage. Prior to starting, they gave us a chart where we could put detailed comments and specify areas to focus on. Our massage therapist was Laura, and she listened thoroughly to our concerns and gave her own insightful feedback. She used to teach massage therapy and has 13 years of experience behind her, so I really felt comfortable trusting her! She mentioned that since this was my first time, she wanted to try a somewhat milder pressure than a full-on deep tissue because that would probably hurt like hell. So, I agreed and left it all up to her discretion and expertise... and everything turned out just PERFECT! Any more pressure, and I would have definitely been too uncomfortable; any less pressure would have probably been unsatisfying. After my massage, she explained that the different oils/lotions/clays she used were all safe for sensitive skin and won't make us break out afterwards. We also had a few other questions for her, which she answered thoroughly. BTW, she even let my girlfriend take a nap in another room while she finished my massage (how sweet is that?!). As for the location: Restrooms and massage rooms were clean, well-decorated, and very relaxing. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. It smells great and music was soothing. But esthetician Amy explained everything she was going to do and the difference about both techniques she was going to use. She is really gentle and makes us feel comfortable with the situation. She finished everything so quick that I couldn't believe it was done. Of course it hurt, but I couldn't compare this pain with the other ones that I experienced before, even waxing just the bikini part. She used the right techniques to make it as painless as possible. I went to get a facial today, and it's my first time here. My sister bought me a Groupon, and she had gone before, but I guess they got a new ownership. My sister said that it wasn't the same and the girl who gave her a facial hurt her so much. I ended up going myself before my Groupon expires thinking it couldn't be that bad. OMG worst ever, she was so rough and was hurting me so bad and I just felt just she was just slapping things on my face. I've had facials before never here, and I won't be returning! She lies outright to those applying for work here and then siphons free services out of them with the requirement that this is somehow part of the job application process. Of course, none of this takes place at Skin D'Amour, but rather at her home on Andy Place in Riverside. Once she gets what she wants out of people, she casts them aside. My husband and I tried your product for 30 days and say no visible results during that time. He is hispanic and has naturally nice skin, but wanted to just see if the area around his eyes could be improved on. He started noticing red blotches around his nose and cheeks. He immediately stop using your product and with in a few days the blotches had gone away??? Then we looked at our bank statement and had noticed we had almost a $200.00 debit on our account from Skin D Amour! yes they had now charged us full price after 14 days and we hadn't noticed. We called them and the girl was very rude and said too bad you should have read the fine print !! so their product did not work and we got taken for almost $200 dollars. All the staff members were kind, but I likely won't return. They lost 1 star because they forgot to have my hot stones ready, 1 star because my massage therapist seemed distracted, and 1 star because the therapist exfoliated me with a towel without asking--I had a spray tan on and she took me down a couple of shades. By the time it occurred to me what she was doing she had already done half my back so I just let her finish so I wouldn't be uneven. She took a moment to ask me about me preferences, such as pressure, problomatic points, and other specific preferences. I purchased a group on for this place and called to make an appointment when they told me the only person that does waxes is on vacation for one month. So about one month later I called and they told me they hired a new person who was in training so they couldn't schedule me until like 2 weeks later. So finally after I was able to get an appointment I went in and although the staff was very nice, it was the worst waxing experience of my entire life. I get the girl was new and had recently finished training but I think I could have done a better job. She constantly tugged on the wax strips without pulling them off so that it just yanked on my hair and holy crap. After a painful hour plus of them yanking on my hair they were finally done and I was just so happy to get the hell out of there. I actually purchased a groupon for 2 Brazilian waxes but had no intention of going back, and I noticed they marked both as redeemed which I don't even care. Ok, so I bought this on Living Social around the time of my birthday. I called on the day I was available (if you are like me and are totally busy and run out at any chance to get a pedi or hair cut, than you know where I'm coming from) and they told me there were no availabilities, so I said ok and decided to go somewhere else and use my voucher some other day. I called again the following month and no availabilities. ok, once again, I finally decided just to show up in hopes that they would take me and no one was available for mani-pedi. Apparently who ever does the mani-pedi only works some days not all week (makes it hard when you don't have time to work around their schedule). So this past week I've been trying to call to see what days are available and there has been no one to answer the phone! I've let it ring and ring and nothing! I was totally frustrated and completely turned off! I will NEVER, NEVER go to this place, it's like you are working for them! Bought a Living Social Deal for this place a while back and was waiting for a special occasion to get my nails done. Well, no special occasions arose and I made the mistake of waiting til the last minute to schedule my mani pedi. I called the day before the voucher expired and they really didn't have any availability for a while, so I made an appointment in the early afternoon. I ended up having to reschedule since my job was becoming less flexible and I wouldn't be able to leave early. Then when I went in for the appointment, the nail tech was out because of an injured foot, but nobody informed me. The girls at the desk were very nice about it and apologized and said I could have a free foot scrub or nail art since I wasn't able to get my nails done that day. Luckily I lived close by and it wasn't that big of a deal. So I finally got my nails done about a week later. My experience was great. Brittany is SO friendly and she showed me what had happened to her foot. Horrible! I loved the job she did, I was very happy with my Halloween nails. LOVE this place! I discovered it randomly because i bought a facial off of Living Social but I'll definitely be a returning customer for the regular price. Ask for Amy, she's great at what she does and welcoming. I had never gotten a facial before and she really made me feel at ease with all the equipment and procedures, talking me through the whole thing. She informed me of all their products without overselling them and without being an overbearing sales person. The facial was great but my favorite part was the included facial, neck/shoulder and foot massage. At the very end she took the time to give me advice on skin care and products that I should look into. At first I was kind of thrown off because it's in a medical building, but when you walk in their suite, it's its own private wellness/rejuvenation center; very clean, relaxing and smells incredible. My coupon was about to expire and the receptionist I spoke with on the phone gladly redeemed it ahead of time so that I could come in a week later, accommodating to my schedule. When I got there, the receptionist was very sweet and attentive. I'm very critical when it comes to customer service and conducting a business, so I'll gladly give it 5 stars when I say that I had a great experience all around. read more
