Why all the yelling? Two people sitting down and maybe 3 walking in with a little gap between us. Had to almost shout order out to person behind the wall. Then say what I had again, along with waiting on everything, was not any quicker than just taking my order and going on. Why rush people and yelling back and forth like it's a family guy skit. I had my hopes up high for this place. It's a hotdog... how could you actually mess it up? I feel bad leaving this review because I really wanted to like it! But walking in I felt like I was in the lobby of a retirement home, chairs all against the wall and sticky foldable tables. The lady at the counter didn't hear us order 3 times and kept running back and forth to double and triple check what we got. I just wanted a chili dog and my parter wanted a plain hotdog with onions, but she seemed confused each time. The chili tasted like it was straight out of a can, just sauce and minced meat. All the way is with mustard, chili and onions. The way a hot dog should be served. No ketchup. Also, on the table is the bottle of "Louisiana the perfect hot sauce" which is not all that hot but does make a good stripe of flavor across the top of the chili dog. This place has multiple locations, this one is closest to work. I was told they sell 1000 hot dogs a day and there are about a dozen locations in the Upstate. Quite a good business. Homemade chili, split top buns and the menu is very simple. Lunch in about 15-20 minutes. Service is prompt and polite. Why only 3 stars, well the price keeps on going up. Now it is near $2.00 for one hot dog. So I used to come here on Saturday with my boys (3 teens) and they would each eat 3 or 4 dogs, we would get a 2 liter soda for the economy and a large bag of chips sna now we are up to about $30 for hot dogs for lunch. Now these are good hot dogs but Bilo has 8 hot dogs, Nathans Famous, for about $4 plus brioche buns, another $4 and we would make some chili, but you get the idea. I'm just saying that they are pushing past the value. Right down the road, QT has two hot dogs for $2.00 and all kinds of condiments like jalapeno's, sauerkraut, cole slaw, onions, etc. (not chili) but its only $2.00 Now that is more like it, for crying out loud, it is a hot dog. Costco - 1/4 lb all beef or 1/4 lb polish sausage hot dog plus a 20 ounce drink for $1.50. They only have relish, onions, mustard, ketchup, deli mustard, but they have the right idea....it is only a hot dog. So, yes, Skin's did raise prices when food costs were on the rise, but they have kept them there, so lose at least one star. (Edit) just for curiosity I checked out Portillo's menu up in Chicago, probably my favorite, and their scoop is With everything includes: mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle and sport peppers piled onto a perfectly steamed poppy seed bun for $2.85. read more

First time at this skins and I must say I was impressed with the speed of service and the quality of the food. I was a little concerned when I pulled up and saw cars everywhere at 12:15 and thought no way would I get in and out, but they still had tables available, moved the line fast, and were very pleasant. Drove to Skins in Mauldlin SC on 06.03.2015, Ordered 7 Hotdogs and 2 orders of Slaw over $17.00. Drove home thru 6:00pm traffic, unbagged hotdogs to find I was missing my two slaw's. Called and person who answered the phone really didn't care, when I explained my problem she said well this is the Mauldin Store and I told her I know and that I just left there. Then she suggested that I drive back to make up for their mistake or I can come back and get a refund. What I want was them to do their job, a customer shouldn't have to check and make sure they can count 7 hotdogs and 2 slaw's. If I have to do their job, then give me a discount. Or explained to me that my order may get screwed up and maybe I wont do business with them. read more
