The food is good and served hot. The hostess and wait staff are pleasant and fast. They have the freshest fish and shrimp.

My favorite place to eat when on vacation and visiting the area. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Mediocre place that had good specials on weekdays. We'd get takeout every thursday that would be 30-40 bux not bad. Well recently all specials were taken off the board and our $33 bill was $70. Had lunch there today, and came away disappointed, for a variety of reasons. I had read reviews talking about the large portions, but I didn't experience that. My combo of trout and oysters came with 1 piece of trout and 9 oysters. The oysters were kind of funky tasting, so I left most of them. Both the trout and the oysters had an under taste - perhaps old oil was the reason. My wife's daily special of Baby Flounder and Popcorn Shrimp was not much better. There were a lot of small fried pieces in the popcorn shrimp that were not full size shrimp, that's for sure. The flounder was thin and dry - overcooked. Both had the same underlying strange taste. The fries were the rectangular, ridged kind that have no potato taste. Slaw was decent, hush puppies perhaps the best part of the meal - never a good sign. Total with 2 drinks was a little over $21 - definitely not cheap, and not worth it a half the price. Will not need to update this review. read more

Tons of food. Massive serving sizes. Great taste! Fried seafood platter was outstanding. It was cooked to perfection. This was much more food than any one person should eat. After digging through about 8 inches of shrimp, scallops, and fish I revealed a layer of french fries and hush puppys. Parents had "Baby Whitefish." It was good too. What's whitefish you ask? Like little halibut, tiny halibut. Very white. Very mild. Service was great. Waitress was on top of our every need. Setting and atmosphere is very typical southern seafood place. Nothing fancy. We went to Skippers tonight and the food was good ( what we got of it). We both ordered large flounder plates with popcorn shrimp. There were two pieces of flounder and around 20 hush puppies and maybe 10 popcorn shrimp. I went to the front and asked if that was (Supposed to be a large plate) she said yes. She did go get probably 15 more shrimp. From now on we will just go to American Roadhouse and get a real large serving. The price was too large for a little plate of food. We ate dinner here this past weekend and thought that the prices are way too high. We both got a drink and a 3 item combo and it was $28.XX. I am blown away that someone would think that the portions are small here. I mean, we could have split one combo plate and still left satisfied. We ended up leaving food behind on our plates because it was too much. I had Flounder, Deviled Crab and Shrimp and wished I would have gotten only flounder. The shrimp were over cooked and the Deviled Crab was lacking taste and crab! I would not recommend getting either of those here. We had a nice waitress and everything seemed to be prompt and quick as far as the time it took to get our food/refils/etc.... The only thing that I will say is that the hush-puppies here are awful. Some were so hard you couldn't eat them while others were okay. It may be because we came in around 8:30pm and there weren't many customers in at that time. I actually think they closed earlier than the posted hours due to being slow. Would I come back?? Maybe. I think I may try them out during an earlier hour and see how that goes. We ate there Fri., 08/15/2019 and seated about 5:40pm. The food was good, the service good, and the prices reasonable. However I do have several comments. First, the batter on the onion rings needs improving. The texture and taste are nothing short of a slightly seasoned light colored paste. Secondly, the "New Addition" of crabmeat stuffed jumbo shrimp is totally inaccurate. Hats off to the chef and his/her ability to butterfly a one inch piece of shrimp and deposit a tablespoon of crabmeat stuffing on top. By the way the crabmeat stuffing was way too salty. read more

If you're looking for good seafood at a low price, then look no further! Was just driving by to waste time and saw this place out of the corner of my eye. I decided to stop by, not expecting much. It's a pretty quaint place with some nice decor, but I didn't expect much because it was empty. Let me tell you, this little shack has seafood done right! I decided to get the special, which was the trout and popcorn shrimp. Probably the best introduction to trout I could've had. The batter was light and the trout was tasty, if a bit bland. The shrimp had the same wonderful batter and was cooked beautifully. Love how it was not only the trout and shrimp, but the special came with some quality sweet slaw and hush puppies that were pretty tasty. And all for under $10! To top it all off, the waitress was the nicest I could've gotten and seriously deserved more than the 30% tip I gave. This can be a good place to eat, but don't get the sweet tea unless you want tea that tastes bitter like it has been sitting around for several days. Also apparently they don't know how to bake a potato without burning them. The shrimp is passable though. I haven't been to Skippers in several years, and after my recent visit, it will be several years before I go again. I ordered a larger 3 item combination of oysters, scallops and fish. When my order came, I had 3 tiny overcooked oysters, 4 scallops, and a small piece of fish. When I complained to my server, she took the plate back to the kitchen. When she returned, the had added 3 more tiny overcooked oysters, and 1 more scallop to the plate. I don't mind paying well for good food, but I was greatly overcharged for what I got. Probably will not every return. Suggest you find somewhere else to eat seafood. read more

we went on a Saturday night [last night] thinking they would be busy and the food would be hot and fresh. Our food came out looking fairly good but the flounder was dry and the oyster's were greasy. The service was pitiful and when I went to pay no one bothered to ask if we enjoyed it . I understood why when the door to the kitchen opened and I saw sheet pans of fish fried up waiting to be heated back up in the fryer and served . I have eaten here before, but today I stopped by for lunch. I had the baby flounder lunch special and a glass of tea. There were 3 small, over cooked pieces of fish, a dozen french fries, a small cup of slaw, and a pound of hush puppies. Pretty bad special for a total of $10.41. A $1.99 for tea? Really? Skipper's was the #1 seafood restaurant in town at one time, now it's just another fish house. I was very disappointed with the meal and the price, but the waitress was very kind and attentive. I have been a frequent Diner at Skipper's Restaurant for years always enjoyed my food and had good service on October 26th of 2017 myself and my better half went to Skippers for dinner there were only a few customers in the restaurant our usual table was occupied by another couple we chose another booth the couple who was in the place where we normally sit had already ordered their food and it was being brought to the table and we could overhear the conversation one of the patrons at this table had ordered something with popcorn chicken the waitress told her that they did not have popcorn chicken they had popcorn shrimp and that's what she was having on her plate the patreon told her that she didn't eat popcorn shrimp and didn't want it the waitress took it back to the kitchen shortly after that our food was delivered with what I believe to be that other tables popcorn shrimp not sure of this we asked our waitress this is not the shrimp from that other table is it she said she could not comment on this and left our table we didn't know what to think we began to eat our food after the food had been on the table approximately three to four minutes and we had already been eating off the plate french fries hush puppies and coleslaw our waitress came back to our table and said uh oh sorry this is not your food took the plate away that we had already been eating on let me say that again because I want to be sure you get it we had already been eating from this plate she removed it from our table and took it to the table that it belonged to and served it needless to say they have lost loyal customers we will never return to this restaurant and I advise anyone that does to be very aware I am only giving one star because it will not let me exit with no stars read more
