My wife and I stopped off here to split a king gyro and some fries. It was my first time there and was impressed with the cleanliness and the decor of the dining area for a fast food place. Our order came out quickly and we dove in. This is one of the best gyros I've had. The very fresh pita was loaded with fresh meat, onion, diced tomato, and very nice tzatziki sauce. This gyro filled us both up. It had the right balance of all the ingredients and the french fries were perfect. They've got a great offering of all your Chicagoland fast foods from burgers, hot dogs, Italian beef, and sausage. polish and chicken. If I didn't have such a hankering for gyro, I would have had a hard time deciding what to order. Huge drop off in quality over the years. Used to be a reliable spot for an Italian beef of Gyro. Really hope they figure it out. Really would be nice to have a decent Greek food spot in the area. Don't understand complaints about time it takes to get food. In the COVID environment we should be thankful the business is open! If you are looking for fast food where they are handing you your bag before you can even put your purse away, this might not be your place. If you care where your $$ are spent, DON'T GO HERE!!! Ordered a gyro combo meal. Just a gyro, fries and a drink and it was $19 and some change! The pita is much thinner than it used to be, too. It barely held the contents of my sandwich. Now, this is a large size (no other option), but the drink isn't the typical large size yiyd expect. We've been coming to Skippy's for years and this new pricing is INSANE! I know prices are rising and businesses are struggling, but this is outright pricey gouging. Had I not been so hungry, I would have walked right out. Go anywhere else and you'll get good food at more reasonable prices. We've visited in the past and it's always been clean and a good value. Today's chicken on the chicken sandwich was so small and thin it only covered half of the bun. Ate inside which was a big a mistake. This Skippy"s is skimping on most things. The pop had almost no flavor, I watched other people have the same reaction. Gyro didn't taste great and hot dog was only ok. No napkins, silverware or salt in the dining area. Had to go to the counter to ask for those. The chair and floors were sticky. The soap in the bathroom was completely watered down, there were no paper towels and the hand dryer didn't work. If they are trying to save money they should consider other options. I don't even know about their Gyros...to me, it's all about ther Italian Beef Sandwiches and Hot Dogs (with fries and deep fried mushrooms of course). I had a cheeseburger and Fries.. both were fresh and delicious. As I was leaving .. I wanted a milkshake. I stopped at the counter and 2 young girls came towards me.. they worked here but were differently dressed as Queen Bees from High School.. They sneered at my order. And I waited. I went back to my table and waited. I went back to the counter and a young man came and asked if he could help me? I told him I was waiting on a Chocolate Shake. He notified the Queen bees who sneered in my direction. The cook who had been on his break, came back behind the counter. After about 10 minutes I asked the young man if it was possible to cancel my order. He said yes but he needed to tell the Queen Bees. The Bee who took my order came back and gave me my change. She never said a word to me but she did again sneer at me like.. I really shouldn't be allowed to live. She really doesn't understand the food and Hospitality industry. This one is a hard one for me. I spend some time in Florida near Tarpon Springs which was settled by Greek Families and there are a number of greek restaurants in the area. Louis Pappas for one. Also, I took a number of trips to Athens during the 2004-2006 time frame and ate out in some of the great restaurants there. I had the Gyros Pak which includes a gyros sandwich with Tzatziki, onions and tomatoes, a side of fries and a soda. The fries were good. The sandwich was good. However, the gyros and tzatziki didn't have enough flavor to them. Don't get me wrong. it was good but not great. The place was spotless. The price was around $8.91 for the Pak, not cheap but about right. They brought the food out to me after it was prepared. I went in to order my food because the drive through was so slow. When I went to the counter there was an employee making orders and his pants were below his buttocks showing most of his underwear. Where you order your food they have a wall with Skippy's favorites so just in case you don't know what to get the have the customers top picks which can be helpful. While their service was excellent, their food was not. I ordered an Italian Beef the meat had no flavor, probably due to no seasoning while cooking. The meat was also sliced way too thick, meat should be almost shaved. We also ordered a gyro, also no flavor. I am no huge fan of salt but they really should consider prepping their meat before cook. I just love the beefs here. Getting it on a garlic toasted roll is divine. The fries are always hot and fresh. Definitely only go-to place for a good beef. The prices are a bit steep, so I don't come often. I think if 2 of us could eat for under $20, we'd be back more often. I just went and ordered a beef with fries and a pop and it was $13 for just me. The decor is a bit heavy with the texturized walls in a yellow/tan color, with dark accents. I hope that they give it a loving coat of paint to bring some brightness to the space.
