I've been coming to this location for about a year now. Clearly the management or ownership has changed. The food remains good but the service and attitudes have taken a steep decline. The bread is not New Orleans style French bread but their own special Poboy sauce makes up for it! It's a unique recipe that's sweet and tangy. Shrimp and crab was great. First time I have ever had a PoBoy! Where have I been hiding? The seafood is fresher than most restaurants in the area. Fresh and cooked right. The mild sauce is great, just a little kick to it. My wife and I were looking for a seafood restaurant and found Skrimp Shack. There are 3 locations and we stopped at the one in Hampton. Don't let the area fool you, the place has a nice interior, clean and the staff were very friendly (although I read one review and it mentioned the staff was rude...I could see that happening) It took my wife a minute to place her order and the cashier was patient. Our food didn't take long and the food was good. I had the shrimp/crabmeat "po-boy" (I've mentioned in many reviews that I'm from NOLA and if it's not "dressed" it's NOT a po-boy) It was delicious and sauce they use is fantastic. My wife had shrimp tacos with mango and hot sauce. The presentation was just shrimp, lettuce, cheese and sauce, and my wife said wasn't thrilled but said it was just ok. I recommend a try. read more

LET ME YELP Y'ALL OUT! I definitely LOVE seafood. So when searching for a good seafood spot in my area, this did not take long at all to come up. The pictures taken of the food looked delish, and the atmosphere looked perfect. So needless to say, I was there 30 minutes later. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted nicely. The line was nice and short. The lady at the register kept a smile on her face, and took my order quickly. I will say, the wait was a little long, about 15 minutes. Wish the place was bigger because seating was limited and we had a baby in a stroller and another in a carseat to squeeze in. I got the shrimp and crabmeat po boy with a side of fries and a drink. I believe it all costed around $14. It was the best po boy sandwich I've ever had! Whatever that sauce was, I was hooked. As an alternate location because the wait for Mango Mango was 1.5 hrs, we decided to come to the Skrimp Shack. I'm glad that we did. They have a pretty eclectic menu offering many choices, most of which are fried options. I had the catfish nuggets with a white mac and cheese side. Ordered over the phone and picked up my order, I ordered the lobster roll and when I got back to work and opened it up it was literally the smallest sandwich I'd ever seen and literally on a roll (picture a dinner roll) so I inquire about it to co workers who have had it before and googled photos and from what I've seen it should have come on the same type of bread they use for their po boys and it did not, it's basically for a child and for 11$ I expect more smdh read more

Never been a fan of fried sea food, but I was wrong to doubt the food here. They have a pretty large menu with different meal choices starting from fish tacos to po boys. Even within each menu is a customizable option to choose your fish, topping, and sauce. You can also make your entree into a meal and get a side and drink. Their are also few choices for side dishes as well, such as fries, hush puppies, sweet potato fries, etc. I got the tilapia fish taco. It was a strip of fried tilapia, wrapped in a soft taco shell, covered in sweet mango jalapeño sauce....it was fantastic. When you order, the staff will deliver your food to your table. The establishment has plenty of parking spaces, very clean interior, and the staff is very friendly. If I'm back in the Virginia Beach area, I'm definitely going to stop by this place again.
