I have been coming here regularly since they opened twelve years ago! How have I not ever written a review? This is my go to mani/pedi place. I am so glad they survived the pandemic. This isn't one of those "get you in, get you out" salons with five TVs blaring different shows. They do take walk-ins and even when they are busy, you can still get in with a short wait. If you prefer a nail salon with an efficient but calm; busy but friendly vibe, this is the place for you. It is very clean, modern and comfortable. Their manis and pedis both include firm but gentle massages of your arms, hands, legs and feet. These massages are longer and more thorough than what you usually get at other places, these women know what they are doing. There is no upselling. When you get a mani, there is a complimentary neck and shoulder massage. Great color selection of OPI and Essie, no-chip and dip manis/pedis. They usually have a movie or TV series playing while you get your services. The ones you find on a rainy day and you happily watch the whole thing. It truly feels like a great break in your day. They also do waxing services, chair massage and regular massage. Their prices are reasonable, tips are cash only. Highly recommend. read more

The woman doing my nails unprofessional and unkind. She seemed upset I wanted to have no-chip on my toes. And kept repeating the cost as if I could not afford it. The nail polish on my toes was so sloppy I declined for her to continue with my nails. And the shop seemed ok with her mistreatment. Never go to a new shop on a Saturday that is completely empty. I was graciously given the opportunity to come here for a party where we were treated to a free manicure by the hosts, so I feel bad leaving a negative review, but alas. I haven't had a manicure since a nail salon opened up in our local mall in high school, so I'm not an expert by any means but was intrigued to try it out. The salon was pretty much closed except for our party, but even still the customer service and communication was lacking a bit, so I'm not surprised by the other reviews on here. We were told to pick our colors and pointed to the wall of options, and then one of the technicians suggested we get gel manicures and pointed out those options to us. I was like "oh, awesome!" and picked something out. It wasn't until mid hand-massage (which was glorious) that I overheard the girl next to me ask and get told that if we wanted gel manicures it would be an extra surcharge. I then asked my nail tech and she said the manicure vouchers we had from the party hosts were for the regular manicure, so gel would be the difference in prices. It totally makes sense, but what irks me is that the salon staff tried to up-sell everyone without informing us it would be extra. They knew we were all there for the same event (a free manicure party) and what the prepaid vouchers were for, but they were pushing the gels without communicating that it wasn't included. I'm glad I was sitting where I was where I overheard that convo, because otherwise I would have been stuck with a $30-40 unexpected bill at the end. I then changed my option to a non-gel manicure, which another staff member went to go swap out (and seemed annoyed to have to go get a different bottle). The hand massage was great. She then asked me if I wanted my cuticles cut and I said no, but then she did it anyway saying, "I'm just going to trim a bit, okay?" after she had already started. Personally, I'm not comfortable with that because I'm a huge germaphobe and don't trust even the cleanest of places with shared equipment, but there's not much I could do at that point. The polish itself was quick but she did a nice job, but it started chipping by day 3, which isn't really any better than when I do it myself. When it was done, she dismissed me to take the next person, and I didn't really know what to do. One of the other techs told me to sit with my hand under the light dryer thing, but it wasn't on and I didn't see a switch. Eventually someone came over when they saw I was confused and turned it on. The party was great because it was nice to see the other guests, but the service itself was lackluster. I wouldn't come back here on my own, but to be fair, I probably wouldn't go get my nails done anywhere unless it was part of some party package thing. read more

I never say negative things and let my pocketbook do my talking. Unfortunately my experience at Sky Nails was so horrendous I feel I have a duty to warn people. The salon employees are really unfriendly, frazzled and not prepared for customers. I was told to sit down and soak my nails in a bowl which I thought was water. The bowl of clear liquid turned out to be acetone and my fingers were stinging. When I respectively objected to this method of removing my no-chip manicure, my nail tech became angry and agitated. This place is awesome. I got a coupon for a free manicure when they were brand new. I liked the experience so much that I now never go anywhere else now. The experience is spa like and relaxing. It's quiet, and they have massage chairs for pedicures. The chair massages rock. They have fun movies and magazines. The staff is so nice that it feels like family. BEWARE!! I've been to sky nails several times and have always enjoyed my time here and been satisfied with my pedicure. Today I had a pedicure done by a tech named Zaya or Zara . This is the worst pedicure I've ever had. My nails were cut extremely short even after I told her not to cut them short. They are are also uneven and oddly shaped. The nail tech filed my nails roughly and was in a rush. I'm not sure if she is still learning or if she just has not received the proper training but I will not be returning. read more

I like Sky Nails mostly out of convenience, considering I live above a business two doors down from it. That isn't to say that they aren't great. They are. The service is very friendly and welcoming. One time I made the mistake of saying "spa pedicure" which I assumed just meant a pedicure in the comfy chair, but apparently it costs 45$, which is more then the standard pedicure, that is also in the spa chair, so be careful how you word it, because I ended up with an even bigger bill, which is the ultimate downfall of this place. I understand that the prices reflect the patrons who live in the neighborhood, but I can the same service, complete with massage after, from several other salons for much cheaper, and I would, if Sky Nails wasn't so darn convenient. I also like to support local businesses in my area, so I suck up the big prices and just go with it. They technicians are great, polite, and welcoming. I always have perfectly polished nails, and nice thin eyebrows, but the only downfall is the price. read more

Tried Sky Nails last Friday for a manicure and pedicure with a friend, and, what a delight it was. We had 5:15 appointments, and much to our surprise the salon wasn't packed, which allowed for a very relaxing visit. The salon is relatively new, and very nicely designed. It's very clean and not full Hello Kitty crap that the salon hopes someone will purchase (does anyone ever buy that stuff??). The pedicure was great, and you get to pick 1 of 3 different types of scrub- I went with mint. The manicure was even better, and what I really loved was that the lady doing mine didn't even attempt to cut my cuticles. And, a week later, my manicure looks as good as it did on the first day; no chips, no peeling..it's perfect! It looks like a no-chip manicure. They have a fantastic selection of Essie polish, as well as OPI. I think this is my new nail salon, and I don't even mind going a bit further out of my way for flawless fingers and toes. read more

This is such a great salon! My favorite part about my pedicure was the massage chair that massages your BUTT as well as your back. That was a completely new experience for me - this is the only nail salon I've been in with that type of massage chair. It makes me sad that the pedicure is so great, that it will last me a few weeks before I can sit in that chair again :( I went in on a whim for a mani-pedi before date night with the boyfriend. The pedicure was hands down my favorite part. I could pick between 3 scrubs for my legs, as well as also receiving a hot towel and leg massage. Total. Bliss. My manicure was also nice, soaking my hands in hot water with a lemon. My only complaint would be that my cuticles didn't look very good the next couple of days, but I'm always picky about those. My nail technician also asked questions as needed - did I want to cut my nails down, did I want to shape them a certain way, etc, etc. All of the nail tools came out of a sanitizer, and the salon is very clean. All of the staff is very friendly, especially the front desk receptionist (who's name I did not catch). She called everyone by their first name, and greeted people warmly. I could tell a few were repeat customers because she seemed to know so much about them! They also have a phenomenal selection of nail colors, and they are COLOR CODED. They go from light to dark in various colors and shades. They're also organized by brand, of which I believe they have 3 or 4. When I went to dry my nails, I sat for 15 minutes (of my own accord) in order to let my nails completely dry before digging into my purse for my keys. No one rushed me out of the salon. I also received a nice shoulder rub before my nail tech moved on to her next customer. FABULOUS. There are TVs on only one wall in this salon - great for customers receiving pedicures, manicures or drying their nails, but there is one side of the table where you sit and watch people get pedicures. That's a little bit awkward, but you can also turn a bit to watch the TV or people watch on the street. I wish the TVs had closed captioning, though! They also hold a punch card for you in the salon (just in case you forget to bring it!) and you receive free services after 10 punches for a certain service, and a free manicure on your birthday. This is fabulous marketing, and definitely makes me want to come back. I'll be coming in for a no-chip manicure soon, as regular manicures don't last on me. I work in day care, and my nails will chip in 2 or 3 days because of how often I have to wash my hands or open something for the kids. They definitely have a repeat customer in me! read more

My experience has been nothing but positive here. Sky nails is clean, staff is warm and welcoming, polish selection is stellar and location is super convenient ( for me) with easy parking. I've had two manicures here and was pleased both times. My polish was a bit uneven but I chose a difficult color to apply that I suspect needs three coats. I'm confident that they would be happy to do three coats if i asked. Requiring a paragraph of its own, the complimentary neck and shoulders massage that most nail salons offer, is fantastic here. It's not the obligatory 2 second pat pat, but rather an indulgent few minutes that really does relax you. They offer chair massage and I think I'll treat myself next time. I haven't tried a pedicure here, but its definitely on my list. read more

This place just opened down the street from where I work, so I stopped in the other day for a their mani/pedi special. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and the layout of the space. They did a great job on my hands and feet, and even included a short shoulder and hand massage with the manicure (which was amazing). They also have a really cute back room where they can do private parties/events, which would be great for birthdays or bridal parties. Overall, I was really impressed with the price, the quality of the service, the atmosphere and cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff. I will definitely be back! read more

Nice place. Clean. Friendly staff. I could do without the "Muzak" type music but I manage to tune it out. I recently had a great manicure. No problem at all. Have had pedis in the past which were just fine. I decided to have a lip wax. The problem?? HOT WAX! Seriously hot. I ended up with a blister right under my nose. It hurt like heck and was quite unsightly. If you ever have any waxing done here - be sure to ask them to turn the temp down a notch (or two). I tried Sky Nails with my friends last night. It was the worse manicure I have ever had. My fingers are in pain today. The guy cut my nails so short that he cut some of my skin. I asked him to even out my nails, but I did not expect him to leave me with nails cut to my nail beds that are not shaped nicely. The only reason why I gave it two stars is because they give you a neck massage. As far as the pedicure, I felt like he rushed it. They put a nice scrub on you, but he did not rub it on. He just put it on and then rinsed it off, so it did not do anything. My friends had a great manicure and pedicure. I guess I just got the wrong person. read more

I went about a week ago with a friend of mine. We were told that there was only a 15 minute wait for pedicures so naturally we said no worries we'll wait. After the 15 minutes they sat us down in our massage chairs where we soaked our feet for 40 minutes before someone actually came to give us our pedicures. Best part was that my friend had someone working with her and I was still sitting there soaking my feet for an extra 20 minutes before anyone even started helping me. Once someone started helping me she literally did my pedicure within 10 minutes and I was done before my friends lady even started painting her toes. If you're that busy don't lie and tell us 15 minutes because you want the business. They are not considerate of peoples time, they only want the money and do not care about what type of service they give. I asked my lady to scrub a callus and she just said no and continued to start painting my toes. After they finished our pedicures they left us at our chairs to just sit without them telling us anything & they went in their back room to eat their lunch. This is by far the rudest service I've ever encountered and not even worth the $35 because I could have literally done all of that at home myself. read more

Wish I could speak to the skill of the technicians, but I did not choose to go through with my appointment, as they did not honor my appointment time. I called ahead in the morning to make a 3 pm mani-pedi appointment and when I showed up exactly on time, they were not ready. Not even close to ready. As in every technician was busy and at least two had just sat down with other customers. I stayed about 10 minutes, standing with my polish colors picked out, while no one said boo to me. It was not until I got my coat and started to walk out that I received protestations about how they were ready for me. Even though I still did not see a technician who was free. I honestly think I could have left without being noticed except I chose to let the owner know I was leaving, and why. I am quite forgiving about service lapses if I receive basic courtesy and a modicum of personal attention. read more

Sky Nails is a friendly and comfortable place for a mani/pedi. Manicure always holds up for a solid week and the staff is great about remembering names. The salon is clean and very attractive plus they give you a punch card for a free service after you buy 10, the 11th is free. And a free service on your bday (manicure only) plus you get a mini massage during your manicure. This is the best value and service for a mani/pedi I have found. read more

This is my new favorite place! The atmosphere is amazing - very clean and relaxing, I just wanted to fall asleep! The owner Bogie is super friendly and accommodating. She did my manicure and gave me a wonderful hand massage. Another lady gave me nice long leg and foot scrub followed by pedicure. She said something to me that I could not understand. Then she yelled Foot back in water. They barely speak english here and yell at you if you don't understand something. DON'T BE LATE!!! My husband called and scheduled two mani and pedi's for my daughter and I this morning. He set them up for 10:45 (since church usually ends at 10:30 - today ended at 10:40) - we arrived at our appointment at 10:49. When we walked in I apologized for being late and said we had two mani/pedi appts scheduled for 10:45 and she told us to pick our colors. Five minutes later another woman came and said you were late for your appointment and now we have someone coming at 11:00. I asked her do you mean to tell me that since we were a few minutes late you are not going to take us - she said yes. She said you were 15 minutes late - I told her we had been there five minutes already - she didn't even look up. She didn't offer to take us at a later time she didn't ask us to wait - she just told us to basically leave. A man comes to the counter and he doesn't say anything - I say are you really asking us to leave when we have two mani and pedi's booked. He said - yes - sorry!!! With so many options in Evanston it is obvious this place does not need new business. I would never ever go back. They are so rude and unprofessional. read more

Sky Nails on Central Street is fabulous. It's inviting, clean and friendly. I went there with a friend to try it out when they first opened, using their opening special price. I had a great experience. It's a wonderful place to go for a real relaxing treat. My manicure lasted 5 days with NO chips. That's a first for me! (I am really hard on my nails and rarely get manicures because they come off within 24 hours.) I would put zero if it is the lowest rating I could give. It was my first and last time there. Horrible experience! The lady I had is unfriendly even rude to the extent that she made me very uncomfortable there. She used the same disposable pairs of gloves from many of her previous uses (I could see yellow stains on the blue gloves). After using them for me, she took off the gloves and flipped the gloves and put them back into her right pocket. For my manicure, she took out another used pair of gloves from her left pocket and blew them open and put them on. The service was very basic and rushed for the price of $55+tip. I tipped her $5 (really did not want to tip her at all). She did not say thank you. Rather, she made a strange sound and a face. read more

Everyone who works at Sky Nails is cheerful, attentive and incredibly talented. The manicurists really make me feel like I'm on a little spa day, no matter what service I'm receiving. I never feel rushed or like any of the manicurists are trying to hurry through just to get to the next client. Nancy is the manicurist I see the most often and she is delightful.
