More like 3.5 because the staff seemed to not totally have their stuff together. Like, it seemed to really throw them for a loop that we were actually dining in. I suppose most of their orders must be to go, but it shouldn't be a total surprise and scramble when someone wants to dine in. All that aside, once they seemed to figure out it was OK for us to actually sit down, service was quick and efficient. Food came out quick and our order was accurate. They have all the traditional skyline favorites but were also pushing for the new chicken chili. Overall, not my best skyline experience, but still an overall pleasant one. read more

My first time in Ohio, I had to get the famous Skyline Chili. It was a hot summer day, but the chili was still delicious. The restaurant is kind of fast food, you get served quickly, but they also have someone take your order at the table. I got the 5 way, which is chili on top of spaghetti with beans and onions. We also shared an order of chili cheese fries. They really pack the chili and cheese on top, it almost made it hard to eat (in a good way). I don't live in a state with Skyline Chili, so I might have to try making my own chili on top of spaghetti. read more

I'm sure this will be one of go-tos now that we live up here in Dayton. This location is very close to home AND they have punch cards!! I took a friend from out of town here a couple months ago because she's heard all about Cincinnati chili. I tell people that while they probably won't consider it to be chili (it's like it own new thing) it is delicious! She agreed. This such a family friendly restaurant! For a place that introduced me to my love of Cincinnati style Chili it is not my favorite place to get it. That honor belongs to places with in the queen city itself, as well as remarkable enough, Fairfax Va. If you go at an off time its best, because they are not super busy, and the chili has time to set, and not be as watery as it can be at peak times when they have to make it quickly. If you have never been to skyline before you need to try two things, One is a a three way, spaghetti noodles topped with chili and literally a mountain of sharp, amazing, beautiful cheddar cheese. you can up grade it to a four way, or a five way which adds, kidney beans, and onions. Second you need to try the cheese conies, that is what made this place famous, the wonderful chili, the onions, the sweet tangy mustard, the fresh grilled hot dogs, the warm buns, the mountain of cheese. Get two or three, for only 1.50 its what you want when its cold out side. Still this skyline is not as good as it is, is something that can only be had in limited quantities, and never ( at least for me) when its hot out. sometimes the chili here is runny, and watered down, and the service even with no one else in the whole place is painfully slow. As a Cincinnatian, I have had the experience of eating Skyline my whole life and at this particular location, I can not say that I was satisfied. I (fool) heartedly went back several times hoping that it was just a bad day but each time was the same result. When ordering a Coney there are distinct small steps that must be taken in order to get the best result and you can see those steps were skipped. Each time I went the bun was either somewhat hard or seamed stale. Everyone knows that the bun should be steamed so that the bite is homogenous to the hot dog, chili, and cheese. In the same vein, the hotdog did not seem fully cooked and it was almost like a blatant attempt to cover that up with lukewarm chili that could not even make the cheese directly above it melt. Sadly I can't even comment on the 3-way becasue I could not get past the the fact that they could not make the simple and purest of items. I truthfully think management needs to take a trip to a different location and see how a proper coney with everything should be made. read more

Love the chili but this is not the store in this chain in which to get it. Service is slow and orders are never right first time out of the prep area. Looked like "work release" food prep people and a college kid manager who couldn't keep orders straight.
