What IS a coney anyway? The first definition in the dictionary says it's a "rabbit"? While I love rabbit, Skyline's "rabbit" leaves me cold. It's quite possibly the worst hot dog I've ever had. But it's not a hot dog, it's a coney. A small, soft, mushy pork (I think) product nestled in a Wonder Bread-like bun covered in Cincy chili and grated cheddar (maybe) cheese. Did I mention I'm not a fan of chili? A cultural and geographic thing, I'm sure. So, if Skyline's appearance on the Lexington food scene gets you salivating, I'm happy for the fandom. I stopped in today, a little hesitant to eat indoors but the lure of Skyline was too much for me. To my delight, the staff had customers very well spaced apart and everything was super clean. Everyone wore a mask. But the best part of my visit was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and attentive, and also respectful of my space. I felt genuinely taken care of. I know it's hard to make it in the restaurant business right now due to Covid. I really hope these guys make it through the months to come. I have been very wary of eating out and don't always feel like restaurant are the safest places. Not so here - very clean, extra protocols clearly in place - foot pedal opener in bathroom, tables spaces, sanitizers, you name it. Plus, all the staff was friendly and food was awesome! Okay this maybe a long review but I am just FURIOUS! The food first of all, was absolutely awful....I was under the false impression that it was better the gold start chili. Also I do not approve of any of the managers or crew in the building. They make fun of their employees and talk about them in front of the customers, mind you, that this restaurant is WIDE OPEN, we can hear everything that they do and say, also you can see it. The server area and the drive thru area where most of the employees work is out in the open. My co-worker went to pick up our food, and i ordered chili cheese fries... $6 for the amount of fries you get for a medium size at any fast food restaurant... or less. The chili was very thin, tasted like cheap cinnamon, the amount of cheese was decent but super greasy. I wouldn't pay more than $3 for it, and even though i wouldn't come back. My 1st job 42 years ago was making cheese coneys!! So a lover of this special chili, currently living in GA, I make a point to indulge when in town. Stopped here on Richmond Rd and was not disappointed!! Cody took my dine in order along with a large take out order. My Kentucky born daughter & UK graduate who now lives in Ga asked for some chili as well. So yes almost $68 chili order was placed. Courtney was the wonderful help behind the counter. Tried out the new Skyline tonight and it was pretty good. The place was packed but we were Lucky enough to get a seat. They have tableservice or you can sit at the bar counter in front of the serving area. Our server was nice. She was from Northern Kentucky and came down and open the store. Our food came out traditionally fast and our server was attentive. I will say I do like it better than Gold Star taste wise, and portion wise for a large four-way is larger then GS. I also ordered fries but the fries were like a small order at McDonald's and for $2.49 I would expect more. The server said the fries are weighed out for each order. You can get a little extra pasta if you wish and extra chili and cheese are at no charge which is way cool. All in all our meal was good, but a 4 way, fries, and a drink will set you back $14.70 plus tip. That's more than a mini slider meal and fries at Harry's so cost is the only reason I'm not coming the place 5 Stars. If your interested in trying them out I recommend it for sure. read more

I don't need to review Skyline, because it's amazing. But I will review this location. We've been a few times now, and the service is consistently great. But they are super stingy with their chili. I've gotten coneys twice, and the chili was barely perceptible. The first time we went was on their opening day, so I thought maybe they were working some things out. Second time I was so hungry I didn't want to wait to send it back to ask for more chili. The third time, I got a three way, and it was fantastic. This location cuts down on driving time to Dry Ridge, so I'm happy. read more

Tried this for the first time. I am normally a Gold Star Chili fan, that's what we have in my hometown. This was fantastic though. I loved it. We will definitely be coming back. If you're going to this restaurant expecting to be served chili, then you're going to be disappointed. The main dish is spaghetti, over cooked spaghetti, covered in shredded cheese. Somewhere in between is a thin layer of a meat sauce with beans and onions (if you added those options). It's fairly bland and served on a plate; not in bowl as you might expect with chili. The coney dogs are tiny and covered in much the same way as the spaghetti. I suppose that you either love or hate the food. There isn't much room in between. It's not my cup of tea! read more
