They knew we were coming and yet they have ONE person trying to serve 40 of us. Why would any business do something like that? Had to check this place out while near Cincinnati, Ohio to try their famous chili! I ordered the fully loaded bowl of chili and it was delicious - hearty and full of spices. I also opted to get their extreme habanero cheese which if you like spice, I recommend - it's definitely not "habanero level spice" but adds a nice kick. My fiance ordered a coney which was a hot dog, chili, onions, mustard, and a big heap of shredded cheese. Overall was a solid place to stop for lunch and not break the bank - our server who was a younger college student was super friendly. I've been to this Skyline location a few times and every time I have been here, the service has been fast and the food has been tasty! Recently, I stopped in for lunch around 12:30 as I had a hankering for their chili, and there were only a few customers inside so I sat myself at the "bar" (there's no booze here but it's typical bar type seating in front of the cooks vs a table/booth) and I was greeted right away by the friendly employees. My food was great and delivered promptly! This location also conveniently has a drive thru if you're looking for a take home meal. As we turned off I70, was reminded of what Calvin Trillin once wrote, "Columbus is not known as the gourmet center of Ohio. I, perhaps foolishly, selected a "chilito" which turns out to be some chili and cheese rolled-up in a tortilla. Now, I liked my chilito but my wife thought it bordered on sacrilegious to introduce a tortilla to the mix. Some people really don't appreciate skyline, but me personally, I love it. The staff at this location is always really nice, the place is clean, and they always do their best to accommodate. I've been told that Skyline chili is a staple of Ohio so we try to stop whenever we are in town. This store was conveniently located right off of I-70 and even had a drive-thru. I love that Skyline combines the convenience of a fast food restaurant with a full service, sit-down style. Within 5 minutes of sitting down, we received their signature oyster crackers, ordered, and were served the famous 3-way chili. Our waitress was friendly and made the chain restaurant feel very comfortable. The chili itself is very unique-- more sweet and savory than spicy and heaped over spaghetti with freshly shredded cheese on top. OK OK before all ya'll chili purists get started circling your wagons and get your lassos all in a dither because "Skyline Chili isn't real chili" just simmer down (pun definitely intended) Chili is one of those uniquely American dishes that takes on it's regional and local flavor and I happen to be a huge fan of the Cincinnati regional flavor so pipe down the lot of ya hehe. I mean what's not to love about this place and this food? My favorite is to get at least one cheese coney and yes it must have mustard and onion on it as well. Then a 5 way!! But the real beauty is that you can get it however you want it so dive right in and enjoy. Your waistline and arteries will thank you later. At this point I should admit that I have not tried another single menu item from Skyline other than the coney and chili so sorry folks you're on your own for a review of those items. Service has always been very good. This must be a good place to work or maybe the chili gets in the air and affects your brain but everyone is always nice and happy. This a pretty typical Skyline. I grew up with Skyline chili in my blood and it is always a great option when I am feeling up for a chili dog. I would write a giant review, but Skyline is a place you just have to experience if you have never had it. The staff at the Pickerington location is pretty good. I have only had maybe one or two bad staffing experiences, but overall, they are pretty good. What I love about Skyline is that it is a restaurant with a fast food style of delivery. I ordered two cheese coneys to go with the funnel fries. The ppl working were so nice because i tried to get reg. Fries noticed they had funnel fries (not on the drive thru menu but a picture on the window when you cash out) asked if i can change the order and they did that. The cheese coneys with chili was weird. It just tasted weird. I think i imagined it a certain way but it just wasn't what i imagined. It had been a long time since I had Skyline, probably since the Whitehall location closed and man was it good! I expected it to be, too, but they exceeded expectations with the Extreme Habanero cheese. If you haven't tried it, you really must. The service at this location was just excellent, and yes I did take the bib. I'd rather look silly than have to fight at getting a stain out later, and let's face it, chili is always messy; chili 4 way with a huge pile of cheese on top served on a slightly too small plate definitely calls for a bib. I had the chance of dining in the Pickerington OH location. It was lunchtime. It was my wife and I, and one other person who looked homeless. There are all sorts of selections, one way two way three way chili spaghetti, frankly I do not even remember what we had. I am trying to forget. As you ate the chili the taste of Nutmeg got stronger and stronger. It was so strong that we did not even eat half of what we oredered. When the server came over and asked us how was out meal I told her we never had chili like this before and it wasn't very good to me. And I spoke with the Manager/Shift leader about how strong the nutmeg taste was, and she looked at me like I was from Mars. I took a comment card home and filled it out, mailed it and even went to the website and told them how bad it was. I never received a single reply.
