Skyline chili

Had to check this place out while near Cincinnati, Ohio to try their famous chili! I ordered the fully loaded bowl of chili and it was delicious - hearty and full of spices. I also opted to get their extreme habanero cheese which if you like spice, I recommend - it's definitely not "habanero level spice" but adds a nice kick. My fiance ordered a coney which was a hot dog, chili, onions, mustard, and a big heap of shredded cheese. Overall was a solid place to stop for lunch and not break the bank - our server who was a younger college student was super friendly. If I could change one thing it would be the temperature of how my chili was served. It was warm at best and when I order chili I expect it to be served scorching in a bowl.

I've been to this Skyline location a few times and every time I have been here, the service has been fast and the food has been tasty! Recently, I stopped in for lunch around 12:30 as I had a hankering for their chili, and there were only a few customers inside so I sat myself at the "bar" (there's no booze here but it's typical bar type seating in front of the cooks vs a table/booth) and I was greeted right away by the friendly employees. My food was great and delivered promptly! This location also conveniently has a drive thru if you're looking for a take home meal. Like most Skylines, they also sell their oyster crackers and hot sauce in store as well. Whenever I'm working in Pickerington and craving a cheese coney or a three way, I'll definitely be back!

Went here based on recommendations from friends... not impressed. Chili was just plain old chain restaurant chili - nothing particularly special about it and not very appetizing. Chili dogs were just cheap run of the mill boiled hot dogs with soupy chili on top. Perhaps expectations in Ohio are better? I dunno. The real turnoff was the store manager bullshitting loudly with some people at the table behind us about gun laws, politics, and crap you'd see on Fox News. Definitely not what I want to listen to when I'm trying to have lunch.

This review is for a lunch for two on a Friday afternoon while road tripping through Ohio along I70. My wife is a bit of a Cincinnati-style chili addict and we always seek out a Skyline. For this iteration, we found ourselves at the Skyline Chili in Pickerington Ohio, which is just east of Columbus. As we turned off I70, was reminded of what Calvin Trillin once wrote, "Columbus is not known as the gourmet center of Ohio. Ordinarily, anyone in Columbus who wants to take a serious fling at haute cuisine goes to Cincinnati. I have met people in Columbus who regularly drive the two hours to Cincinnati for dinner, stay the night, find some way to occupy themselves until lunchtime the next day, eat lunch, and return to Columbus--fortified against another five or six weeks of deprivation." Calvin Trillin, "Gourmets and Eaters" The New Yorker (1973) For the record, we LIKED eating in Columbus! service McKenna was out waitress. She was great. Prompt and helpful. Plus, she warned my wife that the Large Three-Way was really LARGE. food Based on McKenna's advice, my wife had a small three-way. And could barely finish it. For you uninitiated, a three-way is spaghetti, chili and cheese. My wife also could not resist two cheese coney's. In case you're wondering, when you're dealing with Skyline coney's, the hot dog is unimportant and forgettable - it's all about the chili, bun and cheese! I, perhaps foolishly, selected a "chilito" which turns out to be some chili and cheese rolled-up in a tortilla. Now, I liked my chilito but my wife thought it bordered on sacrilegious to introduce a tortilla to the mix. My wife is a purist when it comes to Skyline. details A wee bit off I70, let your GPS be your guide. Plenty of parking. Restaurant was clean and bright. They even have a drive-through. Don't forget to pick-up some canned chili to go for those long nights away from Cincinnati - or from Columbus.

Lite fare (half amount of cheese), regular size, 3-way chili

I've been told that Skyline chili is a staple of Ohio so we try to stop whenever we are in town. This store was conveniently located right off of I-70 and even had a drive-thru. I love that Skyline combines the convenience of a fast food restaurant with a full service, sit-down style. Within 5 minutes of sitting down, we received their signature oyster crackers, ordered, and were served the famous 3-way chili. Our waitress was friendly and made the chain restaurant feel very comfortable. The chili itself is very unique-- more sweet and savory than spicy and heaped over spaghetti with freshly shredded cheese on top. Skyline truly is a must-have in Ohio and this location even has the benefit of a Graeter's ice cream in the same shopping center!

Second time in a row I've gone to this location and they forgot my cheese for my 4-Way. Looks like I'll be having a 3-Way.

At times this place really misses the mark. Foods good when they get it right! But can't go wrong with a cheese coney

This was a terrible experience. Skip this place and go to Jersey Mike's! My wife and I ordered two…read moresub combos and it came to 37! When we got our subs they offered us the combo and said we can get chips, fries, Mac and cheese or soup. We both got the soup. Silly me didn't look at what I was being charged for, big MISTAKE! They charged me an extra 4$ for each combo. Then they charged me another $3.40 for each cup of soup! When I brought the fact that they charged me an extra for the soup which was supposed to be part of the combo they just shrugged their shoulders and blamed the register. They couldn't even explain why I would be charged for a combo and then charged again for the side. I asked if maybe the side came with chips and the soup was extra and they said, no you dont get chips. The only solution they offered was to call corporate. With all the other options in the area, I will not be coming back. I strongly suggest that you double check what your being charged before you pay!

I ordered up their new French dip, which I believe was a promotional item as it was not on the regular menu. The bread was soft and tasty, there were ample toppings on the sub as well as ample meat. it had really good flavor. The supplemental auju provided on the side was good; however, I ordered takeout, which allowed the lid to pop off and leak all over the bag and box. Disappointing. Overall Id return to the place and try a different sub, pending I verify the take out packaging prior to leaving the store.

I waited for 25 minutes with no update, so I called the store to ask if they had forgotten about me. The response? Laughter and a casual "Oh shoot, I forgot." Not exactly the professionalism you'd expect. They said they'd bring the food out, but after another five minutes of waiting, still nothing. I went inside to find the staff joking around and clearly not focused on their jobs. I asked for a refund, but was told I couldn't get one--only the food. I explained I didn't want the food anymore, just my money back. They called the manager, who said I'd have to request a refund through the app--even though I ordered through the Popeyes website. The whole experience was chaotic and disappointing. It's unacceptable to wait 30 minutes for fast food, especially when there was no line when I first arrived. Ironically, it would've been faster to order in person. The staff seemed more interested in playing around than serving customers. I won't be returning.
