We live in the Pittsburgh area but my daughter is obsessed with Skyline so any time we are in Ohio, we see if there is one along our route. This one was easy to get to on and off the highway. There was plenty of parking in a plaza setting. The store itself was very clean and well kept. Staff was extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. Skyline has a basic menu, but some fun variations on their classic dish. Basically everything has their chili sauce (really, though, if you are going to a skyline why wouldn't you want it). They have the classics (the three way, four way and five way). They also have chili dogs and a fun and interesting "chillrito" which is their classic dish served as a burrito. We all got variations of the classic. The kids got the 3 way (chili, spaghetti and cheese), I got the four way (chili, spaghetti, onion and cheese) and my husband the 5 way (chili, spaghetti, onion, cheese and beans). It came out fairly quickly and our server gave us tons of extra oyster crackers when we asked for "a few extra since we don't get them that often" (seriously, they have the absolute best oyster crackers). The food was fine. Interesting how the chili is slightly different than what most people typically eat, but not necessarily worse. Still, I prefer typical hormel like chili spices. The service here was good when I was there, but they were apologizing to some customers before me for the delayed service. I guess it gets really packed and busy here. Definitely worth a try, but the fries can probably be skipped. The chili is too wet and it will be basically soggy by the time you have your second bite. I absolutely love Skyline. I have going to Skyline for many years. This location has a nice dining area. You seat yourself. The place is always clean. Our waitress is was attentive and very nice. The food is always amazing. I like the 5 way and their cheese coney. They also have burritos, potatoes, and salads. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

This is definitely an acquired taste but after visiting Ohio a couple of times now, i would say it could grow on you. It's a simple diner and the servers are friendly. I love trying out regional foods, so when my fiancé and I found ourselves stopping in Cleveland for the night while on a road trip, we made the detour down to Akron to hit up Skyline Chili. I went with a four way (onion, not beans) and he went all out with the five way. The chili is a little more watery than I expected, but still flavorful and the huge pile of shredded cheese definitely doesn't hurt. We each went with the habanero cheese, which was definitely the way to go. The cheese had a low spicy burn without being too spicy. The server helpfully piled us high with a bunch of oyster crackers too, but I didn't have much leftover chili to sop up, so I went with just a few oyster crackers sprinkled on top to add a crunch. We also ordered a side macaroni and cheese to go and to our surprised delight, it came with a baggy of shredded cheese, separately packaged up so it could stay cold without melting in a big hot mess. The mac and cheese was great too - perfectly creamy and cheesy, with the cold shredded cheese lending the right amount of tang. I grew up with a variation on this spaghetti and chili back in Texas, and it was great to finally try one of the originals too. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in Ohio. read more

Visited Skyline Chili again and perused the menu. There are quite a few items on the menu that I'd like to try. However, I requested the exact same thing as last visit - the chicken bacon ranch wrap. I was on my way from a day trip to Kent and heading back for the Ohio Turnpike when I saw a sign for Skyline Chili. I hadn't been to one in several years, and I had no idea there was a location this far east or north, so I decided to stop. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and my order came very quickly. My server Linda explained that this was the most northerly location in the chain. She also told me that they sometimes get customers from Cincinnati who are students at Kent State. I ate a couple of chili cheese sandwiches there, and took a 5-Way and a Black Beans & Rice to go. Since they closed the awesome Skyline near me, I've visited this location a few times and each visit confirms that they closed the wrong one. First, the flies will be joining you for your meal. Tiny flies that only come from dirty drains and greasy kitchens. Doesn't matter if you're at the counter or at a booth, they are there. It's been mentioned by other reviewers that for the better part of a decade they have had a problem with flies. Disgusting. I've had consistently bad service here. The wait staff is clocked in, but their minds are far, far away. The kitchen is slow and sloppy. Don't expect to get any refills or be able to get your check AND pay without considerable effort. The counter is the best way to eat in any Skyline, but the staff has taken it over with their purses, water bottles, keys. Lots of boxes of straws and containers are stored on the counter. We sat down ordered our skyline chili. When it came out it was hot, cheesy and so good. Who would have thought that chili cheese and spaghetti would be so dang good! Drove here on the way home to Chicago from New York with my boyfriend. We got the chili cheese fries and 3 of the coney dogs and they were good! The food is still pretty good. It seems like prices have gone up a little. The resturant definetly needed some help. The floors were dirty. The restaurants atmosphere was not very good. The service was just ok but the servers conversations were annoying and not appropriate for costumers to be hearing. I liked the skyline but probably will never eat inside again. My next skyline craving will have to be to go. Definitely not recommend eating in the restaurant. read more
