With 9 holes it's a good course for beginners. Not a huge fan of their driving range though. It was pretty wet and there were lots of divots where the ground was caving in from so many swings over time. Definitely needs some updating. I was kind of nervous about being a beginner player and not knowing all the rules and golf etiquette. Luckily we had a more experienced golfer with us and all around it was a pretty laid back course. Note that during the pandemic they weren't allowing anyone to take out the push carts which means be ready to lug your clubs. read more

As far as 9 hole golf courses go, you could do worse than Buchanan Fields. The sick truth about golf is that half of your strokes happen on the green and there is no better place to work on your short game than Buchanan Fields. Leave the driver at home. Work on your iron game, chips, and most importantly putting. The only really downside to Buchanan Fields is holes 2&3. Both are par 3s and can really back up the first holes on a crowded day. read more

I like that there is plenty of space at the driving range. Large bucket of 70 balls for $7. Only 1 person allowed in the pro shop at a time. Service was good when I called in for hours and in the pro shop. It isn't the best course around but it is close and good to get some swings in. read more

Buchanan is a great place to play golf for both beginners and veterans alike. With the new ownership, this once rundown course has come to life in a BIG way! The driving range is huge and has all new mats, targets, balls, etc. the lively music sets a fun atmosphere to practice on the range. The course has improved a lot too! Mike in the pro shop is especially helpful. No longer can you expect to just walk onto the course...it's popular enough now you need a tee time :) read more

Don't skip the late nights with Magic Mike! Solid upgrades in the mats and range balls. Digging the music playing while swinging. My personal favorite is the change in range hours to late nights. I brought a friend of mine who played his first golf course. I haven't played here before and I wanted my friend to learn to play this game and make it easy for him. The fees are not expensive and reasonable for a 9 hole course. I called the golf pro shop for a tee time and was able to get a tee time without any hassle. The scorecard has 4 par 4 and 5 par 3. I played the blue tee and the par 4 is about 300-340 yards. Par 3s range from 135-155 yards. For par 4, the fairways are wide and you can use your driver. For those long hitters, you can get close to the greens and chip and putt. The par 3s are not that long and if you hit your irons straight, there are a lot of opportunities for birdies. We played on a weekday and started in the afternoon. So the time of play is decent. We're done in a couple of hours. As for my friend, he enjoyed the game even though he has to play the red tee. For those beginners, I encourage you to play any 9 hole course first before playing those long 18 holes. My friend ended up playing all of his short irons and was hitting them fairly well. For first-timers, you don't expect a lot as long as he/she enjoyed the game. My friend still has a lot to go but I see a lot of potential in him. He'll be playing this course until he gets better. My only negative comment is the bunker around the greens. They are not maintained and you'll see grass growing in them. The groundskeeper should rake them and keep the bunkers clean and playable. We ended up moving the balls inside the bunker to the grass next to the greens. The course also has a driving range and the bucket of balls are not expensive. For those beginners, you can learn and improve yourself by starting at this 9 hole golf course. read more

New ownership at Buchanan has made ALL the difference. Pro shop is gorgeous, new mats, fire pit, comfy chairs, a lit range that's open till 10pm, and best of all... they are pet friendly and have a cat named Archie. Mike is my new favorite person. the greens are terrible. By far the worst course in the bay area. fairways are alright at best.

Had a tee time for 4:40. Got in the pro shop at 4:38. Had 3 people in front of me so we got to the cashier at 4:43. Said we were late and had to reschedule for 5:30 tee time lol yeah goodbye read more

Great driving range where you get your own stall, in the sun or in the shade. Nice 9 hole course for a quick 9 by yourself or with buddies.

If you're looking for manicured... best to go to a salon! That being said. This place is an easy to book 9 hole course. Use a few different clubs. Get some sun as the planes skim the trees overhead. Simple, little "clubhouse" that had what I needed. read more

Not a bad course to play 9 holes. Fairways aren't short grass but longer. First 2 holes the fairways are bumpy. Think 4x4 . The pace of play is hit or miss. Some days it's perfect and others it's painfully slow. We found teeing off around 3:30-4:30 beats the evening crowd. 3/5 because of course conditions and not helping with pace of play. read more

This has been my rainy day range forever and now, with all the improvements, I think it will replace the Bridges as my first choice. The Mats are new and great (so much better)! The balls are new and...they play great 70's music while you hit. They have added a few more extras and I look forward to more. It was my first time ever to play on a golf course but luckily I had a friend with me who knew the rules and golf etiquette, and had a great time. Very inexpensive to play a quick 9 hole here. The driving range is nice and a large bucket of balls are cheap too. I will say the course is not in best terms of condition, could definitely use some TLC, but it didn't distract me from playing at all. And S/O to Mike at the front desk, he was super nice and very accommodating. If you're by the Concord area and you're looking for an affordable and course + driving range, regardless of skill level, i'd definitely recommend this place. read more

Horrible facilities! Even worse staff. The siding is rotted, the roof is blowing off, the balls are a joke no dimples/cracked, the range mats are worn out and almost un-hittable, they charge for rubber range tees, pro shop is completely empty and the staff has terrible people skills. Time to put this horse down and let someone who can make good business decisions take over. Total failure from top to bottom. read more

I would rate this place 4 stars. Nice small course for beginners like me. I am rating my review here 5 stars because of THE INSANE EFFORT. If you compare skylinks now vs buchanan golf course(old name), the effort is literally turning this place 180 degrees and now riding a rocket to the moon at lightspeed. Nicer greens, better chipping and putting area, painted driving range walls(management invites locals to paint their range walls), new driving mats with all the tees available, bunker work, and so much more. If you were playing at this place 2 years ago, it was old, sad, and neglected. The previous owner who i think also stands at a cashier area serves people like he does not want anyone on his grass. Now the people at skylinks are friendly and welcoming. There are also some free lost and found driver covers!!! I truly appreciate the BIG EFFORT the team has put in, and I think they have more improvements on the way! read more

Buchanan Fields is the definition of an executive golf course. Playing 1911 from the back tees and a par 31 over its 9 hole layout it is perfect for those who are short on time or those just beginning their love affair with greatest game ever invented. Located right next to the airport it gives us avgeeks a chance to do some planespotting while also practicing your short game. The layout is flat and does offer some some terrifying traps on holes 2 & 5. OB really only comes into play at 1. The greens were in fine shape and for winter the course in general was as well. If you are looking for a relaxing day or a quick round or just some practice this place should do the trick. read more

Short 9-hole course. The greens have been updated so it's nice even with the drought. However, the fairway is in pretty bad shape. More brown (brown is the new green) and dirt on the fairway. If you want a quick 9-hole game for around $12, it's a good place to "put" around. If you want a better maintained course, there are a few others in the area. read more

Came here yesterday for the first time in over 5 years. Now that I think I'm a more experienced golfer, I found the course very easy. The fairways are very narrow. This can be a little unnerving if the person in the other fairway doesn't hit it straight, and the ball shoots over to your fairway, and no one yells out "fore". Ditto what's been said. The new management and all of the staff at Skylinks Buchanan deserve a huge shout out for the hard work they've done to update and bring value to this course. New driving range mats and actual working lights for late night driving, staff that really do care about customer experience, extended late night hours, and even fun games to play on and off the course! Honestly, the list is huge. I highly recommend this golf course for every level of golfer. Fantastic for beginners to start from driving range to first time trying a course. For experienced golfers, this is a great course to sneak in a quick 9 during the day or now with the option for 2 rounds to get a proper 18 holes. The cups on the greens are moved frequently so the challenge is always there. This course is now a thriving, lively place and a delight to be at every visit. I agree some staff in the shop are not nice. My daughters were told they shouldn't use their Youth on Course cards because the discount hurts the course. Hmm, then why did the Course agree to be on the list? Then they announced on the LOUDSPEAKER to the other players my daughters would be the cause of slow play. What?????? First Tee has taught my young women about pace of play and NO they would NOT cause slow play. This felt extremely SEXIST. Not cool Buchanan! How arrogant and presumptive. You know what hurts the course and the future of the sport? Discouraging FEMALE players from playing the sport. I couldn't be more angry. read more
