Always a great time coming to Hiddenbrooke. Got blessed with wonderful weather in Feb and came to shoot 18. The grass was great but my biggest complaint is the tee times. No control over it and we watched a group finish 18 and restart by jumping ahead of us. Two of them were sharing clubs so it took forever, unfortunately only golfed 9 because of the length of time it took. Another bummer was online prices for tee times vs in store. Online said one price and in store it ended up costing more, real crappy to do that. Besides the tee times issues, it's a great course and a fun time. read more

Wanted to book a semi-last minute tee time. Pretty much all the courses in the vicinity were pretty much booked up. Weird, I found Hiddenbrooke had all, most of their morning times open. Cool, but suspicious. I needed a time, so I went for it. Hiddenbrooke has always been enjoyable whenever I played it (which isn't too often). I had a mid-morniing tee time. When we arrived, the parking lot seemed empty. When we walked into the pro shop, it had the vibe it was about the close and I missed the every must go sale. I joked with the guy behind the counter and asked what was happening. He said everything was well and Troon had bought them a couple years prior. Finally, the course itself was ok. Definitely could have been kept up a little better. My friend forgot his water and asked if there was water on the course. He was told yes. Well, there essentially was...one at the end of the front 9 and one near the beginning of the back 9...and no paper cups. The carts were extremely worn. The whole vibe seemed like they were running on fumes, which is a shame because I have always enjoyed playing Hiddenbrooke. It was and still is a challenging course. One thing I have always disliked no matter the condition of its current status, their hillside driving range. Anyway, I hope I'm wrong about the course's current situation. Course and staff were awesome. One of the best public courses I've ever played. Price value was a plus.

Came on a rainy weekday morning after the holidays and there were a decent amount of groups playing. The clubhouse was very nice and check in was easy after we made a phone call to book the tee time. The first tee is right in front of the club house and close to where you pick up the carts. Carts seats had some rips on the sides but didn't affect how the cart functioned. Could see how pace of play could be slow because of the difficulty of the golf course but we played 18 holes in 4 hours and 20 minutes. Overall, amazing course layout/design and amazing value compared to any championship course in the Bay (18 hole for $47 with cart included). It was rainy and muddy so the conditions weren't that great but if it was a nice day I could see it being pretty good. The greens were rolling 10.5 on the stimp despite it being wet. Great course to test your course management skills since there's lots of hazards and elevation. read more

I played on 10/19 at 11am. The good - Customer service is friendly, and greens have healed fairly well considering they were punched on 10/9. The bad - That's where the good ends. We waited on every hole starting at hole 2. Some holes piled up to 2-4 groups. 11 holes in 3.75 hours, pacing for a 6-6.5 hour round. I walked off after 13. The only excuse we received was "it's a Saturday". Marshalls didn't do much to put pressure on the slow groups. Under no circumstance should pace ever take more than 5 hours, even on a slow day. I don't think I'll be back for a while until this is fixed. It's too bad since the course is a great track. read more

By far the longest round I've ever had. Total of 6 hours. Marshall came up to us by hole 6 and asked us how the pace was and told him it was terrible. He then told us that he will tell the group/groups ahead of us to "speed it up." Every hole we approached continued to be a long wait. There was no sign of effectiveness the whole day by apparently telling the groups ahead to "speed it up." He should have told one of the groups ahead to at least skip a hole so that the pace can pick up a bit. But nope. Groups behind us had similar feelings as we would have 2 other groups waiting at each hole with us. Great and challenging course, but the terrible pace really killed it for me. read more

This place is deteriorating it's too bad I like the layout. Started w the pro shop the guy didn't seem like he wanted to work there today, we park our carts by the first tee and the cart kid was rude in saying that we need to bring it back so he can see us and tee time was another 20 min. The maintenance guy in the back nine ask me what am I doing there as they are working could not believe it?? I called and this girl in the pro shop would not hear my complain at all. We attended a wedding at this venue. The wedding and banquet was beautiful. Eric was the banquet captain. He and his team did a great job of welcoming us and tending to the event. It was a rainy day, the wedding was inside and they did a great job. The food was well prepared and tasted yummy. Timing was perfect: the wedding, cocktails, and the reception was done well! Played Hiddenbrooke for only the second time ever last week and was pleasantly surprised. Many public golf courses have gone way down hill or even closed since the drought years and COVID. Happy to report that Hiddenbrooke is not one of them. Played on a Friday in a little under 4 hours as a foursome with groups ahead and behind. The course was in great shape, bunkers full of sand and greens rolling beautifully for this time of year. For the price point you can't beat this place. Only losing a star based on food and drink offering post round. Even with the 35 minute drive this place will become my go to for golf moving forward, a real hidden gem. read more

I cant play in this course unless its very early morning. This place is so bad managed. If you come to play after 10am be prepared to lose 6-7 hours its so congested waiting in tee for 20mins so if you come play here bring extra patience. read more

Pace of play was absolutely dreadful!!! After the 1st hole , it was already backed up with two ( 2 ) foursomes.. Group behind us called in to notify the pro shop .... No Marshall , no ranger , etc ... I called after finishing the 4th hole and complained about the pace of play ... we were on target for a 6 - 6.5 hr round .. WTF ? I requested my green fee back and they stated no problem on the phone .. drive back from the course , went to the shop and now it's " we can give you a rain check " .. Nope full refund .. Hiddenbrooke, is one of my favorite courses! During the pandemic most of the common areas have been closed, or open with limited hours such as The Grille is currently closing early, around 4pm yet they have some of the best fish tacos and hamburgers in Vallejo, plus and you can enjoy your lunch on their outside patio overlooking the putting range. The entire staff is friendly, we especially thank Nick the head golf pro for going the extra mile during these difficult times he has been wearing many hats, but always smiling Excellent food, service and the pricing is reasonable. read more

The fact you can play an Arnold Palmer design course for such a reasonable rate is also not lost on me. The purpose of this review is not to criticize the venue but to warn future brides who are searching for their venue. Before posting my reviews I reached out to the venue to let them know. They agreed to meet for feedback and never called me. Feel free to dm me if you need more info. The experience with planning and seeing the execution of it all have been difficult and frustrating. I don't see any recent wedding reviews on Yelp, so here's one. I know they had a change in management during covid so this may have affected the way they operate. My wedding was on April 28, 2022. COMMUNICATION - I found wedding planning to not be as difficult as I thought. Our only stress factor was communication with our venue. Communication was difficult when real planning began in 2022. Almost every email required follow upS (after at least 4 days of no response). We had met up on January 19 and was told a program will be shared with us to assist us with the floor plan. A week after we did not receive the shared program via email. On February 9, we reached out to Joy, their Directors of Events, for it and get access to the floor plan. We look into the program and realized we had view only access so we reached out to ask for editing access. We emailed on February 17, February 22, February 24, and February 26. I called and left voicemails on February 25 and February 27. I finally resorted to messaging their active Instagram hoping to reach somebody. I finally receive a call from Joy on February 28 where she provided us with editing access. On this call I asked for an additional contact person and was introduced to Meagan, their Events Manager. I did not hear from Meagan until the week of my wedding to which she had sent me information for another couple. What I would've appreciated was at least acknowledgement that someone received our messages and let us know they will get back to us. We really wanted to get the floor plan finalized to begin our seating chart to get it ordered. Due to Covid, a lot of customized orders take a long time to be processed and delivered and we wanted to ensure everything we need for the event would be delivered on time. - BEO (Banquest Event Orders) are usually finalized a month-2 weeks before an event. We did not receive our BEO until a week before our event. And the BEO required a lot of fixing. With follow up and voicemails, we did not received our revised BEO until 2 days before our wedding. BAR - Beer Selection: We went over our bar choice at the January 19th meeting. We were asked to send in our beer selection. We sent over a few bay area breweries + Heineken and Stella. This took over 4 months to finalized. We were super flexible with the beers and mentioned many times if they can't get something then we are fine with something more generic. In March we were told all the bay area beers were possible (fort point, 21st amendment, trumer pilsner, drake's) except for Heineken. My family is Vietnamese and Heineken beer is important for celebration. I pushed for this more because you can literally find Heineken anywhere. 2 days before our wedding we were told they will provide Heineken. Not until after I saw my wedding photos that I realized they served my family 0% alcohol beer. - What actually happened: None of the beers we requested for were displayed at the bar so no one knew any of the beers we selected (fort point, 21st amendment, trumer pilsner, drake's) were available. When our guests asked what the beer options were, they were told Budlight and Budweiser. - Bartender: She was extremely unhappy to be there. All my guests had a great time but literally everyone remembered the bartender was mean. AND we had prepaid her 20% service charge ($1,000) AND she had her tip jar out with venmo QR code. - Servers immediately took away full cocktails and beers throughout the night forcing our guests to order more to increase out bar tab. REHEARSAL - We had discussed that the wedding party will arrived at 2pm and for tables to be set up already. When we arrived none of the tables had linen and utensils. Meagan said it was because the linen had not been delivered. This was no excuse. We decided on linen colors months ago. After some waiting, Meagan brought out some tablecloths. We ended up helping with setting up the tables. It wasn't a big deal, but this shouldn't have been our jobs. What are we paying the service fee for? WEDDING DAY: - We constantly looked for Joy throughout the day. Servers, admin staffs, no one knew. - We ordered customized engraved glass straws from Germany. Half of the straws were on the table as our guests were at the dance floor. They came back to all the wedding favors taken away by the servers FOOD The food at the tasting and the food served on the actual day was night and day. Overcooked beef, too much raw garlic, no where to be seen appetizers, etc. this may be more common, but none of out guest was full by the end of the night. read more

Just like most of the other reviews say this course has a great layout! That is the best part of the course for sure. The driving range is grass not mats which is a huge plus! The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The cons are maintenance is lacking. Par 3 tee boxes look like a war zone and near impossible to find a comfortable place to stand that doesn't have one or both feet partially in divots. Fairways are ok but not great. Greens roll pretty good but don't look very good. The worst part of this place however is the "grille". I can honestly say of any golf course I've ever played including some courses which are far worse than this course, Hiddenbrooke has the worst food I've ever seen. Staff is friendly and it isn't their fault it's the management to even allow such a horrible menu/quality of food. It's really bad. I had a chicken Caesar wrap thinking that would be the safest of the 5 or so options and I was worried the rest of the day I would be sick from it. Still giving 5 stars because I would come back to play the course again as it has a fun layout. If this course were maintained better and had a decent food option I would pay twice as much to play it. Since it doesn't I would definitely not pay over $50 with cart and probably won't play unless it's a $40 or less deal. read more

Fire the ambassador! I have been coming to hiddenbrooke to play for many years as it's my second favorite course in the area and usually play once a month or so. Never have I ever had an issue with a staff member and been golfing here for the last 15 years. After finishing hole 4 we were greeted on the 5th tee box being told that we need to pick up our pace of play by an older gentleman that was clueless as to what was going on on the course. He advised us the group ahead of us was on the green on the par 5 and we needed to speed up pace of play or would not be finishing our round today. I advised him we had been waiting on the group ahead of us on holes 2 as it commonly backs up there, tee box on 3 and had to wait for them to clear green on 4 as it's a drivable par 4 and I just paid 90 dollars for my round and he wasn't going to kick us off the course. He proceeded to tell me that he doesn't want excuses and will kick us off the course for slow play and we couldn't drive the green on 4 after we had 2 balls run into the green just a few minutes before. I asked him what am I supposed to do do I hit into the group in front of me and his response was you don't slow up my course do what you have to do. Super unprofessional and ruined my day. We pass the group in front of us at the turn and see the ambassador again on 11 and asked him what was going on why were we passing the group in front of us if we were playing so slow? He was clueless didn't have an answer didn't apologize ignored my questions of how could he be so clueless when he works at a golf course? No answer. He doesn't get he works a customer service job and are there to serve the patrons and politely keep the course moving. Your not the police and don't have power over anyone out there so management should not put people in these positions that have wives that tell them what to do at home. It clearly shows. read more

This is such a cool course. Overall, the course is in good shape. The fairways are chewed up, expected with the uptick in golf enthusiasm, and the greens are in good shape, and are challenging. The staff is polite and efficient, must be well trained. The reason I only gave 3 stars is the smell. It stinks all the way around, a low tide, sludge smell. Gave me a headache. Not sure why that happens but probably won't be back for awhile. read more

WE SAID I DO!!! On Saturday 9/23, my now hubby and I said I do in the Garden Room at Hiddenbrooke. Hopefully this review isn't too long winded. THE GOOD: The Garden Room is beautiful and having the ceremony site so close is awesome. The reception room was set up beautifully and Dan was extremely helpful in getting everything set up and squared away. Having the Bridal Room so close was also a nice bonus. Our other vendors; photo booth, chocolate curtain, and cakes by me arrived at their scheduled times and that really helped with the overall flow of things. The food was delicious! Our guests can't stop raving about how delicious our food was. I didn't have any of the tri-tip, but everyone said it was delicious. Our guests loved our DJ Pam The Funkstress and our MC Andre was fantastic! Working with them was an absolute blessing. The room was just so elegant and romantic, it was everything I could have imagined. Oh and do NOT worry about space, there is plenty of room. Our DJ, photobooth, chocolate fountain, cake table, guest book sign in, gift table, sweetheart table, and dance floor fit PERFECTLY and there was still room to move. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: Very minor suggestions and feedback for improvement. The Bridal Room needs a little sprucing and a hook needs to be put on the back of the door for wedding dresses. Dan brought a roll rack for us to use, but it was not very sturdy and my dress was too heavy for it. The cushions for the chairs were dirty, some were ripped. My mom pulled out the chairs that needed to be addresses. Dan and his staff had no issue with switching them out, but I don't think dirty cushions should have been put out to begin with. There was no water service throughout the reception. I can't recall seeing one person get a water refill. We also didn't know that juice was complimentary. We found out through one of our guests but by then, the reception was almost over. Guests were going outside to the water stations that were placed during the ceremony. I thought that was a bit odd. The room was extremely hot at one point, I don't think the AC was on so it was just really uncomfortable. Overall I had the wedding of my dreams here and I am so thankful to Tracy and Dan for making our day run as smooth as possible. Our guests are still talking about how great of a time they had and that is all I could ever ask for. read more
