Finally tried the East course today. Checkin was easy and the course attendant was friendly. Carts were clean. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. Greens were nice but difficult with tons of break. Some of the fairways were pretty narrow. Course was in overall good shape. Shot well on the front 9, blew up my back 9... oh well. Nice change from the West. Amazing that Vallejo has two nice and affordable courses. read more

East course was solid, nice views, a litttle breezy. Greens were very slow. However, the overall experience was terrible. Staff and manager super unfriendly with their cart deposit grift. Staff did not tell me that my $10/cart deposit (my group had 2 carts) is returned when you return the key. I even asked to clarify. Just return the cart. Called back a day and a half later to check on the deposit return mechanism and the staff and manager are both super unfriendly, "can't do anything about it if it's over 24 hours because we throw away the receipts (are you serious?!)". Your carts are there. Your keys are there. I didn't drive 2 hours back home with them. What a grift. Not returning. Do better Blue rock springs. read more

This place is a bit over priced imo as the greens are not maintained to the quality they are charging. Especially when cart prices should be the same for 1 or 2 person riding but only the good golf courses recognize that charging one cart fee just makes sense. The staff could also be friendlier as not everyone is a pro golfer. Besides the golf etiquette that needs improvement here, the food in the kitchen was about what you can expect from a golf course kitchen, nothing special but tackles the hunger. The range was fun with some good people and the course overall was not the easiest so still had a good time. Man is the hole going up the hill on the East Course the toughest one I have played so far. read more

Heard from other golfers I've played with that this place is a "gem" and I have to say I agree after playing a full 18. The weather was perfect for me at 95-100 degrees in the afternoon and the views were amazing. The pro shop folks were nice and welcoming. Grabbed a souvenir ball for sure. Pace of play was great throughout the round. Nice challenging course all around and some slow greens. Need to add some weight to my scotty after seeing how it fell short a few 30 footer plus putts. Overall I want to come back with more friends as this was a very memorable outing for me. Nature + Golf was a plus! read more

We finally had the chance to try out Blue Rock Springs Golf Course in Vallejo, after a high recommendation from my wife's friend - and I'm so glad we did! This course is a hidden gem in the Bay Area. We played the West Course, and it was fantastic, with well-maintained fairways and a layout that made every hole enjoyable and challenging in the best way. I can't wait to come back and experience the East Course next time. For anyone in the Bay Area looking for a quality round of golf, I'd highly recommend Blue Rock Springs. Easily accessible East Course from SF leads and undulates near the quarry. Two parking lots. Fairways are approachable up and down. Greens are undulating. Rough is cut low enough to play OR hides your ball. Not much OB or carries, and there are a few holes where thicker rough is essentially jail. Very reasonable rates, nice cafe and friendly staff. read more

This is my home course considering I'm from vallejo and just a 5 min drive away! This is a reliable course for me to book a tee time even if its just a day or a couple days out. I love playing here as the course's fairways are wide for all levels of experienced players. Each hole is unique and has its own challenges. The hole by hole play never really seems to be repetitive for me for that reason. But what I have noticed over time is that the West Side course seems to be more well kept than the East Side course. The staff is always chill and laid back. I've never had a problem with them. Whenever I call to book a tee time they always book it fast and easily. read more

Bummer, came to hit some range balls and the range was randomly closed on a beautiful Friday afternoon. There was a sign saying it would re-open at 3:00. I waited from 2:00 to 3:15 but the range never re-opened. A disgruntled employee told me it was going to open again so I left. read more

A couple of Sundays ago my friend invited me to play on this course for the first time. I looked up the course online and noticed it was a fairly short course at under 6200 yards from the tips. He made the reservation for the east course (there is another 18 holes on the west course). I also noticed that the slope was 127 which meant the course can be challenging even from 6100 yards. When I arrived I noticed that there were 3 parking areas. One was close to the entrance, the other was on a short hill and the third is closest to the club house. At first I parked up the hill and found it to be very quiet with no monitoring. As I was looking down I noticed an opening on the lot closest to the club house and drove down to get it. Other yelpers have indicated people have had their cars broken into on the hill. For the course itself, the east course was located on the other side of the main road and was reachable through a tunnel. The course itself played pretty tough. The fairways were tight in some places and in pretty good conditions thanks to the rain storm a few days before. The greens were tricky and ran at moderate speed. I did enjoy the course and would love to play out again. I shot a 79 but I think I can get it down to 75. read more

Played 18 holes, and barely finished before sunset from a 1:20pm tee time. I played the west course and it was $32 for the tee time and I got a beef burrito for $10. The burrito was good. I walked the course and although it was a little hilly, it wasn't that bad. The views were pretty good on top of some of the hills and the course was in good condition, especially for $32 for 18 holes. If you're in the area I would recommend you book a tee time! read more

The Sunset Room at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course is truly a hidden gem in Vallejo. It's a woman prerogative to change her mind. I've played both the West & East courses several times since my last review. Now I enjoy the East course more than the West. The views are spectacular. The back nine is more challenging than the front nine. Except for hole 18, the holes are undulating. The greens are hard to read. On a side note there were no geese sightings which meant no geese poop!!! And I didn't lose one single golf ball. Senior green fee with cart $36. read more

Love this East course and its layout. Tee boxes are healthy and cut, fairways set your ball high and wide enough for off the tee errors, greens are big with undulation but their speed will vary from green to green. BR uses color schemes for their pin placements (red=front, white=middle, blue=back). The challenge is the swirling winds. make safe choices to avoid blowups. btw...keep your items hidden in your car. had an individual inspect my car looking for a reason to break in. this guy drives and older bmw suv. I wish the golf staff kept an eye out or hidden cameras. this wouldnt be the first break-in in this lot and definitely not the last since the golf staff and city wont do anything to prevent or even prosecute. read more

I have only been here twice for the driving range and it's decent. Plenty of space but the ground is pretty beat up. A combination of grass and dirt to drive the ball. Large bucket is $11 and they only accept credit/debit card at the moment. The staff are friendly and nice. Plenty of parking in the lot. read more

First off got charged $75 for cart fees when it should have been $40 (did nt charge senior fees, then paid an extra $15 when one person didn't realize I already paid). Fine, told them after the round and they said they would leave a message with the GM (Name is Jake Stewart). Cool. Several phone calls and email laters, NOTHNG...NO RESPONSE or anything, Just ignored. Maybe that's how Blue Rock and Vallejo run their business, but now its the principle of the thing. West course (IMO) has more character and is the better of the two courses. East course can get a little repetitive. Moderately priced course. Details: Played the East course in just under 4.5 hours on a Saturday. Weather was warm with a mild breeze. Refreshment cart came by twice on each 9. Played from the Blue tees with a slope of 127. On the plus side, the speed of play was fast, the course was challenging, the course layout and terrain is picturesque and interesting. There is some water but for the most part it does not come into play. In the down side, we had 6 balls plug in the green during the middle of summer, the west clubhouse needs to be upgraded and made larger, the course sits next to a fairly loud playground on the North East side, and parking can be overcrowded if the people from the park come over and park in the lot. I'd play here again and will keep it in my rotation. read more

The West Course (6,014 yards, Par 71, slope 128) (from the blue tees) is tree-lined, has several elevation changes and a number of challenging holes. It underwent a $1.5 million renovation in 2006. Hole #6 & #14 are good test for your game. The East Course (6,121 yards, Par 70, slope is 132) (from the blue tees) is the newer of the layouts and offers sweeping views of the North Bay, Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County. The towers of the Golden Gate Bridge can be seen from selected vantage points. Hole #5 & #15 are challenging. I play a lot of golf all around CA and I used to work at a pro shop when I was younger. These days golf shops are understaffed as golf management companies and city municipalities cut every corner they can. As a result, there is a lot of burn-out and it results in poor attitude and customer service. I can't speak for the rest of their staff but there is a young lady in the shop who was not only kind, but enthusiastically helpful setting up my time and checking me in. Her name is Emma and whatever they pay her it ain't enough. It really helps to start your round off right when the front person is this pleasant. The course is fun to play and has wonderful views. I usually like to walk when I golf but I would not recommend walking this course unless you want a hard workout. They have plenty of carts and with Covid everyone gets their own cart. That great for social distancing but bad for the course. All these carts driving all over flattens out the grass resulting in very tight lies especially in the fairway. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because of this aspect. You can hit a drive in the middle of the fairway and you won't have a nice fluffy lie, but a difficult hard-pan shot. read more

Golf is love, golf is life. I've been here twice, the latest of which was the 15th anniversary of the events on September 11. There was a flag flown half-mast. Nice touch. Both times, I've played the West Course--I say this because there are two courses here! The West Course is nice for what you pay. Good teeboxes, even fairways with only a few dry patches (what do you expect in this drought?), moderately thick rough (they will slightly twist your clubhead, offering some tough shots), soft bunkers, tree-lined fairways (if you get in, just poke it out on your next shot--don't be a hero), and very smooth and quick greens. There is a lack of red stakes, so if you blast your ball into the weedy junk in a round where you adhere to the rules very closely, then hit provisionals. It was quite windy when I was here, but that seems more indicative of weather patterns than the overall trend here. Either way, it made the course definitely more difficult. The holes here aren't super long, but it makes up for it with some seedy sidehill lies and some minor elevation changes. Also, the pin placement tends to be tough, giving you some good breaks on your putts. Noteworthy is the par-4 14th: hit your ball to the left side of the fairway to give yourself a clear 2nd shot (or third, since you may wanna lay up before the ravine) to the elevated green. If you end up on the right side, you're faced with a huge tree blocking your way. Not fun. Overall, the course is in good shape, and it's definitely worth coming out and trying. Not boring at all! I hope to be back soon--you know, because golf is love, golf is life. read more

Have always enjoyed playing the east course, but yesterday was quite a disappointment. It used to be affordable and in great shape for a public course. They have now raised their prices, and the course is in need of better grounds maintenance. Greens were fine, but on and off the fairways had not been maintained like in the past. Drinks are limited, there are no marshals - I can deal with that, but sadly disappointed in the price increase and minimum maintenance. Probably won't be coming back. read more
