I wasn't planning on coming here, but after talking to a childhood friend, who I haven't seen in over 12 years who wanted to meet up, I couldn't say no. There was no lines when arrived. But before entering, they literally shook us down, checking all of our belongings, which I thought it was a little odd, since we going to get on a ride. My friend paid for the everyone's tickets, which was a sweet gesture. General admission for adults and children over 12 is $13.50 plus tax and for children is $8.50 plus tax. By the cashier they had a little concession stand, with sweets, water, and wine. We got inside the skyview, which was pretty spacious, it was six of us and we fit very comfortable. You pretty much sit inside and the doors shut, and it rides around for like fifteen minutes. I thought my motion sickness was going to stir up, but thank God it didn't. The view from the skyview was so spectacular, it's something about Atlanta scenery that keeps me mesmerized. Afterwards, after exiting the ride, they had a seating area, and plenty of flat screens on the wall. I went back to the concession stand and my kids enjoyed their cold sodas, while we enjoyed our small bottles of wine. The weather was cooling down, couldn't it get any better. The next time I come to Atlanta, I'm going to make an attempt to ride it during the night, since the skyview is lit at night. Around the area they have horse carriages to ride, but we declined. We finally did it after Five years. We will not repeat, don't get me wrong it was ok. We bought a Groupon and it was expiring, so we made a special trip. 45 minute drive, had to pay for parking, and ride lasted 4 turns around 15 minutes. It was Sunset so that was pretty, and you you can see the skyline. It was what it was. I am glad I did it, but wouldn't pay for it again. I'll say one thing...the city is pretty at night....I kinda knew that already, though. There wasn't a very long line on a random Sunday evening in the summer...in fact we waited all of 5 minutes. I was expecting a bit more than what I got, and I purposefully avoided reading any reviews first to just experience it as is. Like others have said, you don't really get the city view that you'd like to get. It does stop long enough for you to take pictures (and you're given commentary through the speakers of what you're actually looking at), but sometimes you're stopped in awkward spots...which is fine, I guess, if you want to take a picture of the actual wheel itself (it's lit up in different colors at night) because it IS a really pretty wheel. Each pod is really nice, clean, and you can control speaker sounds, fans, and if you're a big spender, the VIP pod does it with leather seats and tinted windows, if that's your thing, but I found myself leaving and saying ok, I did it....guess that's that. Really no plans to go back on my own, especially at $15. More, it seems like a thing to do when your friends come into town and want to do touristy things, and in truth, that'll probably be the next time I take this wheel for a spin read more

What a cute tourist attraction. We went at 10:00, right when they opened, on a Saturday. There was a full set of staff who were very clear with their directions of where you should go. They search your bags, ladies, and they also wave metal detectors over you, so beware. I wasn't quite expecting that, but, whatever. They have cold misting fans all around the rope stanchions so that you don't over-heat while waiting in line. They also take your picture before you get on so that you have the option of buying it afterwards. They also sell snacks and drinks. The little gondolas that you are in are secure and nice. They have AC and a radio. The Skywheel goes around 4 times, which isn't very long, but it's enough time considering the view is the same each time. How many times do you want to see the same thing, anyway? The staff was pretty cute because we had two small kids ("precious cargo," as the tickets for them read) and they kept waving to them every time we got to the bottom of the Ferris wheel. Overall, this was a satisfying thing and I'm glad to say that I've done it! read more

The park is great- they have the Ferris wheel and lots of cool things around there, but they still do horse carriage rides, and that in my opinion, is completely inexcusable. Horses are sentient beings much like you, or an animal you live with. You know what it's like to stay on a really high floor in a hotel in downtown Atlanta and you look out over the city really late at night and you get that rare view of it...quiet, beautiful, and peaceful...it's almost like magic how it transforms from a raging traffic nightmare to a serene backdrop. Well that's what I felt while riding the skyview ferris wheel... I've always loved ferris wheels, but heights freak me out....so once I get over my initial reaction of... I think I'm going to fall... I can finally settle down and enjoy the ride and skyview was no different... before I even stepped into the pod I was starting to freak out, but was still excited to ride... talk about conflicting emotions. This was my first time riding the ferris wheel in downtown Atlanta and it was pretty cool... EXCEPT... the rain distorted the view of the outside and just killed any great pictures you wanted to take. Too bad they don't come with wipers of some sort to get rid of the rain that happened to fall the night we rode. But again I enjoyed it as it was rather peaceful. It was cool to be able to ride for a discount from attending the yelp party at the tabernacle... who can hate discounted tickets for anything. I wouldn't mind riding it again if my family wanted to go or some friends, but I don't really see myself going out of the way to come to skyview. Overall the rain is a negative, but you can't stop mother nature... I guess avoiding the ride during the rain would be key. Other than that it's a peaceful ride, just like looking out that hotel window...and when it's over the magic wears off and you're thrust back into that raging traffic nightmare, but it's nice to have a place that slows the city down for you...if only for a short while. read more

Some suggestions: - Music during your ride... we just turned on Spotify (or) - History or a voice over of what you are looking at below and the history around you - At least a VIP port-o-potty trailer, not just a row of port-o-potties with no washing stations. I just paid $15 so some on, splurge there. Luckily we missed the long line and only waited about 15 minutes. They were serving beverages (cash only) right before you got on so that was nice. I went with a wine to sit back and relax on my ride. It was air conditioned, that was nice but I do wish there was an option to have a window down during nice days though, would have been more enjoyable if we weren't confined. And maybe I am spoiled but it was not that tall and the views were very underwhelming. I am sure it is a different experience at night with all the lights. Last week I went on the Skyview in downtown Atlanta. A few friends went as part of a birthday celebration. Of you are thinking about taking a whirl soon. Read my pros and cons to see if it is worth the trip. Pros The staff is very friendly and organizes the line to move at a decent rate. Mostly young adults who are courteous and smiles all the time. They check you in for any weapons before you enter the main gate. I think this is great for security. Once you get online. You get to the ticket booth and pay for your ticket. I like the idea that the ticket booth is set up as ferris wheel pod. Pretty cool The pods are very comfortable and clean. I was in a group of four people. The call buttons were well lit in case of an emergency. One thing I thought was good was a side window vent, in case someone needed extra ventilation. You can also control the AC to lower or raise the temperature. The cons Kinda pricey for a short ride. I think my friend paid $23 for two people and that was a Groupon deal. I think regular price is $15. The glass to the booth is like a plexiglass and heavily scratch from wear and tear. It's hard to take a good picture from inside of the outside. The biggest con of the review is the location. You get a limited view of the city. Which is a let down since Atlanta has such a great skyline. At one point you're looking at the brick wall of the Tabernacle club. If they could have put it in a location for better views. It would add more value.. You take group pictures when you're online but be aware they are not free. No mention anywhere of the price. Big thumbs down! And the staff markets to you as soon as you exit. Pretty aggressively. Another thumbs down. With the tickets at $15. This should be included. Would I go again? Only to take visitors from out of town but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

So if one is hyped up as some special attraction I'd expect something special. To my dismay I felt the SkyView wasn't anything that grand or wonderful. It was alright and I had a pleasant ride, but didn't do anything extra. I got a special from groupon who even provided free chocolates for when I went around. Came here with a friend with their Groupon. It was a fun experience. As to be expected in downtown Atlanta there was a long wait and the whole process took about 1hr total. They offer pictures that you take in the line and later pay for after the ride. Once you get in the gondola the ride is somewhat slow. You get to see most of Atlanta, certainly the city landmarks downtown that most people are familiar with, like CNN, the Westin, Bank of America building and Centennial Olympic Park. It was fun and great for pictures, and after 3 revolutions you pretty much get the gist of everything. It was fun to try out and definitely something touristy to do as a local. read more

Upfront, I'll tell you that I've only gone on the Skyview Atlanta once and at night time. I was in Atlanta for a work-related trip and was walking around this part of town with my boyfriend to explore the city a little bit on my downtime. We randomly encountered the ferris wheel on our night time stroll.You can't really miss it at night as it's all lit up like a Christmas tree. I have a thing for amusement park rides, roller coasters, and the like; it's just one of my things. So, as soon as I saw it, I knew (as well as my boyfriend knew) that we were going to go on and check it out. I thought it was a considerably longer ride, which was a good thing because you had more time to take in the views of Centennial Olympic Park and city at night. I took a few cool pics with my phone. Fortunately, we got a gondola to ourselves. It was spacious and the windows large. This is the kind of thing you do once on your first visit to Atlanta; that's where it has the most value and is a 4-star attraction in my opinion. read more

I went here about 2 weeks ago. I purchased a for $23. It was the best time to go.. About 3 days b4 V-Day and on a weekday. There was no one really there. The Groupon was for 2 with a box of chocolates which they did give us.. Nothing fancy just the normal Russell Stover chocolate box (it wasn't even the heart shape one), but it was nice nonetheless. I don't know how many times you are actually suppose to go around, b/c we went around and extra time or 2. So that was cool. I think it was a total of 4 times around. The staff was nice. We asked about the VIP cart and it was $50 per person plus you didn't even get a champagne bottle only a non alcoholic beverage.. So I think that would be a waste of $$, b/c only difference btwn the VIP cart and reg cart is it's black not white, has a bit of tinted windows (but u can still see in it), and leather seating..so not worth the extra money if u ask me. The view is really nice. There is a person speaking over the intercom giving you history about certain bldgs that you are overlooking, even where Ted Turner lives, and it's a great view of the Centennial Park. They sell you pics at the end that you take b4 you get on the ride which are lil pricey. We did buy them, but talked the guy into a deal (which I basically got a pic free) and then I tipped him for being nice. All in all I would recommend doing this at least once. read more

I am petrified of heights, but wanted to attempt to conquer my fears. Antonio was so friendly and pointed out the panic button should I need it. My heart was racing as we started our ascend. I was thinking I would need the button, as the car was rocking. Once we really started moving the rocking stopped. On the first revolution, Antonio checked on me to make sure I was okay to go around again. The views were beautiful, and the AC vents helped keep me calm. I think we only stopped once and of course it was at the very top, where we once again experienced a rocking motion. Only thing that would of made this more relaxing would of been some ambiance music. I really thought we would have to stand, due to most photos I could find were standing, the have 2 bench seats, that also told up do you can stand. Tickets are purchased in the line vs the other ticket booth. A must if you are in the area, and 13 a person is not to bad of a price. They also take your photon on a green screen before boarding. Thanks to Groupon, I finally got a chance to check out Skyview Atlanta. I wanted to go at night to see how beauituful the city will be lit up plus it's just more beautiful at night. However, I did not want to wait in line, for that long so around 8 pm is when I got there. There is a parking lot next to it so I was happy. However, I did not like paying $15 for it. Sure, it's convenience but damn, that's more than the cost of the ferris wheel. Like, seriously. Even though I got the Groupon deal, I had to pay roughly $1.80 in taxes. Yes, I'm for real. I know it's not a lot but I never had to do that with any Groupon I bought before. What really got me wanting to go is that my friend who has gone before said that they will not mix up groups. I was happy to hear that. It'll just be my daughter and me checking out the view. The gondola was huge and roomy. I really like it. Once we got to the top, I was a little disappointed with the view. Honestly, it wasn't as pretty as I would like. The only view worth noting was Centennial Park. I just didn't like the dirty glass doors cause the picture I took would've looked better without all those fingerprints. The ferris wheel circled about four times. In all, I think Skyview is worth going to once for the experience but it is pricey and not really memorable, to me. read more

The wheel itself is very pretty. You absolutely have to see it, especially at night with its gorgeous, bright, changing colors. Makes for pretty pictures. However, the ride was a bit underwhelming. Got there at 9:00 something on a Tuesday night and we barely had to wait. I was hoping for a spectacular view and photo opportunity of the downtown buildings, but there wasn't much to see. The most interesting part was seeing the Olympic rings in the park at night. Still, it was one of the main things I wanted to do in Atlanta and I'm glad I got to experience it. Ahhhh! Not going to lie, this made me rethink ever going on a hot air balloon. I purchased a groupon that came with a mistletoe and box of chocolate. They ran out of the mistletoe and gave out fake roses. I felt it was kind of kitsch and really would've appreciated something fresh, even a cheap carnation. That being said, the staff was very friendly and you get your money's worth! We went around about 3 or 4 times and the views were spectacular. I'd say the real issue here was that i'd been on other, much larger ferris wheels, like the London Eye, and it was sturdy and large (could fit 8-10 people) so I was a little alarmed when we were at the top and the gondola we were in was swaying high above with just the two of us. Whew! But we made it, and it definitely amped up our Atlanta vacation. I'd recommend day time so you can see everything clearly! It's probably prettier in the summer as well. read more

Skyview Atlanta has a decent view of the city. Through I do think it is a bit overpriced. Right before we got there, a large group of school students showed so we had a very long wait. Since it was just my gf and I, they could've easily let us go first. Instead, they had the rest of school people to go before us. When we got on the Ferris wheel, although the view was nice, the windows were dirty and couldn't get clear view. Also, only one side had a view and the other side was just buildings. It was a typical Ferris wheel. Nothing extraordinary or exciting. A lot of the cars were out of service because of air conditioning problems. We they finally found a car with working air condition for us to get in we found out the A/C wasn't working all that great. It wasn't sweltering inside of the ride but I still broke a sweat and was not a comfortable ride. It was tolerable but not comfortable. But the sights of the city were great. I went during sunset time and the buildings were completely blocking the sunset along with good views of the city. Well this was definitely a fun thing to do after dinner. It's pretty cool seeing a Ferris Wheel in downtown Atlanta. It's about $15 a person and they also sell snacks and drinks to take with you on the ride. We had just eaten so we didn't need anything. They sold chocolates at the ticket booth also. There is security that you go through before you get in line. Also there is a photographer there to take your picture. The ride is really a lot of fun. Great views of the city and Centennial Park. I went at night so the lights on the Ferris Wheel were constantly changing colors. It really was pretty. This is one of those things that I'm glad I did. But I'd probably never do it again. Skyview is cool if you are a tourist and would like to get a different view of Atlanta. It's a little pricey and the process seemed kinda long, but I would recommend folks check it out if they are partaking in other downtown sites. As it happened, we were downtown and the thing we planned on doing wasn't going to happen, so we took the kids on SkyView to make up for it. I've been on the London Eye and that seemed so much more grand. This just seemed okay. Would I do it again? No. But I'm glad I at least tried it once. read more

Well executed, but honestly the location leaves a lot to be desired. The staff was super friendly, we barely waited, and the gondolas actually had air-conditioning! We got great views of the Olympic Park, but honestly the rest of the views were only average... plus the lot immediately adjacent is fenced off, but from above you can see its filled with trash and dumpsters. This was my first time in Atlanta and we were in the area with time to kill, so we figured why not! But I was ultimately unimpressed by the views... I feel like there has to be a better location for the Skyview. Regardless, it was well implemented, so not a waste of time :) read more
