We ordered a bit of everything on the menu and it was all delish! Service was amazing lots of staff waiting on all the tables. Came early (around 7PM) on a Friday night for my birthday and the vibe was fun but not over run with people. My group was able to occupy a few seats and roam around between games, the foosball table, and bowling comfortably. By midnight, the place was so packed that people were dancing between the pool tables which made it hard for us to play. We kept having to move people out of the way. BEWARE THE DRESS CODE; one of my male friends got turned away because he was in cargo shorts and a tee. I was in the city for a bachelorette party and we stopped by Slate. Cover charge is $20 and we ordered our passes online before going. When we got there the bouncer didn't want to let the bride in because her sandals didn't have an ankle strap. Luckily someone in our party had a pair of flats for her. The whole strap thing was ridiculous but whatever we got in. There's two levels. We spent our time downstairs. The music was okay, the transitions were weird. Someone in our party asked the DJ to give a shout out to the bride but he refused. Shortly after the DJ gave a shout out for someone's birthday, thought that was lame. Drinks were overpriced and the wait at the bar was long. Later in the night it got more crowded and people were being pushy. The bartender in this image refused to serve me water. About 10 minutes later, another girl came up next to me, while I was still waiting for a different bartender to be free. She asked the same man in the picture for water, and he provided it to her immediately. Seeing this, I asked him for water once again, and he made a motion for me to go to the other side of the bar. Due to this discrimination, I wanted to make sure I had a picture of him for this review, so I took a picture, and he ran away because he didn't want to be exposed. He then had two bouncers kick me out for having an "altercation" even though the only interactions between us involved me asking for water and him refusing to provide it twice. Regardless of the reason he refused, he was unprofessional and biased, serving others, but not me. This establishment supported what he said, immediately kicking me out even after I explained my side to one of the female security guards. DO NOT GO HERE if you want to be treated fairly. I also just read a ton of other reviews saying similar things about how the staff and bouncers are incredibly rude, so this establishment has a lot of training to do. They made explicit threats toward us, even threatening a knife at one point. We were terrified and immediately reported the situation to the general manager. However, that's all that goes for this place. The inside is nothing amazing. However, I must rate it one star because the waitress put down a tip that I never included. I tipped $7 on an order of 3 drinks, which I thought was fair. I tipped in cash. Next thing I knew, my card was being charged $63 for 3 drinks. Hold up, what? Turns out, the bartender took my cash tip AND THEN charged the same amount on my card. I confronted the woman about it and she went completely oblivious on me. Pretended she had no idea what I meant. Manager sided with the bartender. I laughed and called my credit card company and got my money back. I mean, how could anyone rate a spot more than 1 star after being fraudulently charged? Fun and unique time...especially if you're looking for more of a good atmosphere/quirky approach to clubbing and not as much concerned about drinks. I love the giant slide, giant connect four and Jenga as well as the basketball games. It's almost like a barcade but a club. I was scared when I saw the reviews, but I had a great time! They really are strict with some rules though, such as no cutting in line for groups (only like 2 people allowed). My guy friend with white sneakers was able to get in. Rest of us girls wore black heeled boots. My friends and I got in at 11:56 pm after waiting 15 minutes, with no cover charge. Ended up leaving at 2 am. Bouncers were fine, friendly enough. Unfortunately, two friends who tried to come in at 12:30 am couldn't. Some of the patrons definitely should've been substituted by my friends, as the guys here are kinda grimy; several of them danced near my group and tried to get my friends to grind on them. The crowd was a good mixture of pretty much all ethnicities, and most people were having a decent time. I liked the fog machine and the sparklers thing. Some people were celebrating birthdays and bachelor parties there, which was fun! Music is also a mixture of many things. Some pop and rap from like 3 to 20 years ago, some Latin music, some EDM. I don't think a song was ever repeated. Downstairs music where the arcade is at consists of mostly pop; I caught Love on Top and Truth Hurts. PROS: Absolutely amazing! This place is huge with live music and a multitude of bars inside. The music is lit and the drinks were properly made. The staff was very nice and they even had a free coat check. My favorite quality was the slide they had CONS: The slide needs less wax on it cause its hard to go down. I've been here a few times and loved it! I went to two comedy shows and one night just for the games/food. I loved it each time! The food is so good! I highly recommend the nachos - it's a very big portion and delicious. The best nachos I've ever had, and I'm not being dramatic when I say that! I've also had the garlic knot burger sliders, which were really good too. My husband got the regular burger and said it was delicious! I went here about a monthago to Celebrate my friend Faith's Birthday. It must have been a slow night because the upstairs level was completely closed off and everyone had to go downstairs to the pool area to party. My friends were at a nice area downstairs unfortunately those drinks were ridiculously expensive. Wasn't worth the price of $22 dollars for a glass of Remy Martín on the rocks. The actual club/bar itself is only okay. The slide is a fun novelty but doesn't add much to the club. The basement plays predominantly hip hop and rap music but I usually find the DJs that play there to be a bit obnoxious with their incessant use of the mic. The main floor plays EDM and this can be really hit or miss depending on the crowd and the DJ playing. Apparently, the staff unknowingly discarded her drink before she was finished and Jose refused to rectify the situation when she requested that her drink be replaced. Instead of serving the customer he proceeded belly-up to her and raise his voice... declaring all of the things SHE did wrong. After witnessing this for an uncomfortable amount of time, I attempted to intervene by offering to buy her another drink and walk her away from the belligerent "nightlife manager". Jose then decides it's a good idea to call security and ask ME to leave. I hope Jose has been fired and is no longer employed in any customer service positions anywhere in the tristate area. My friends and I went to slate for the Halloween party on 10/27. We have gone to slate for years, and have experienced wallets being stolen, being harassed, followed, pushed, and more, yet nothing comes close to what we experienced on 10/27 at the hands of slate "security". I, 22 year old female, my sister, a 25 year old female, and her two friends, 24 and 25. Were followed from the bathroom, to the bar, to the dance floor by a 40 year old man. Since we were standing right by the VIP section, the bouncers there couldn't have missed it. Yet when he pushed me and refused to leave, my male friend went to elbow him, yet accidentally hit a bouncer who was right there (observing everything). Yet HE was kicked out. When we asked to speak to a manager and head of security, we asked why the bouncer didn't stand up for me and if they cared about women's' safety. To which he said "have a good night". I ordered the sliders and was told that for $16 I would get 4 medium sized burgers but no sides. The burgers were smaller than a White Castle burger and it did not come with a side and it was actually 3 burgers, not 4 as I had been told - I sent it back. Next... the bill. We receive the bill and I give my card for payment. I never ever tip on my card, I always tip in cash. The waitress saw that I didn't tip her on my card and then went and told another waitress who then - while I was in the restroom - asked my friends for my name and ID so she could tell her manager that I did not leave a tip on my card!!!!! Mind u, she wasn't even our waitressssssssss. On top of that, she was completely unprofessional and rude!
