I just had a fantastic customer experience this evening at this Sleep Number location. Rachel gave us a masterclass in sales. Right from the start, she was genuine, helpful, courteous, friendly, and not pushy at all. That's the type of service where you end up buying a lot which is what we did. The overall system they have where you try the bed, get your score, look at the pressure points etc., was all very nicely designed and implemented. Now, we have a 10-day wait for the bed. Never shop at Sleep Number!! Would give zero stars if I could! **Long post but if you are considering shopping there, please read and it will save you a major headache** ***This is in regards to the sleep number in Oakridge mall but also to Sleep Number as a whole*** I went into sleep number to look at possibly buying a bed in December. At the end of our visit, we decided it wasn't financially possible at the time and instead decided to purchase two pillows. The salesman was extremely pushy and did not really listen to anything I said about why it's not a good time for me to make this commitment, which really left a bad taste in my mouth. Once he found out we were not going to buy a bed, his whole demeanor changed and he started acting like we were wasting his time. I could already tell they only cared about sales and not about customer service. But regardless, I purchased two pillows that would be shipped to me. Fast forward a few weeks and we receive the pillows, only they are the wrong size. I told told the salesman multiple times I had a full size bed but he ordered me two king pillows that would not fit and cost way more money. Once we received the pillows, I went back in for an exchange for the correct size. There were 3 people working there, all of which, we're just sitting around and for the most part ignored me when I walked in. The same salesman I interacted with before helped me with this but was not happy to see I wanted to do an exchange but him and the manager grumbled through and did it anyways. Fast forward two more weeks and I yet again get the wrong pillows! This is now the second time the same salesman messed up my order. I was so over it at this point and I just wanted my money back. So I went back in yesterday and spoke with a different sales person to find out that they do not do returns on bedding and all she could do is an exchange. I was never once told this before purchasing the pillows. Only after I swiped my credit card and a receipt printed out, on the second page, there was a disclaimer saying I can't return them. Since this information was kept from me until I made the purchase, this is a clear lie of omission. The salesperson gave me a customer service number to call. So I go home and wait on the line for roughly 35 minutes until a woman answers. I tell her that they messed up twice, I never once used the pillows, I was never told they could not be returned, and that I want my money back. She then told me she couldn't do anything about it unless I wanted to do an exchange. She essentially said that their two mistakes would just be something I have to deal with. I told her to give me someone above her to speak to. She then put me on hold and 5 minutes later came back and told me she talked to them and they won't do it. At this point, I'm pretty upset because these were their mistakes!! This is awful customer service and they are showing their true colors. I told her that is unacceptable, I need to talk to them directly, and I do not appreciate them being so dismissive of me. She then said that she would transfer me. She transferred me to a number that would never be answered and all I could hear was static. After waiting on the line for roughly another 45 minutes (1 hour and 16 minutes later), the call ended. They never had any intention of actually listening to me, helping me, or correcting their mistake. I learned that all they care about is the sale! I went back into the store after this and yet again the employees are just sitting around in the back of the store. I had to walk up to them and get their attention . I was happy to see that the manager was there. He did not get up from sitting as I proceeded to tell him everything that happened. However, all he said was nope I'm not going to do a return for you, it's or policy. I told him that it was them who messed up twice and that should not be on me! He told me I already got my one free exchange and he won't do anything else for me (even though both the salesperson and the customer service woman both said they could). Notice how he said won't and not can't. He absolutely had the power to do this for me but chose not to. I told him that the reason I came in here was to buy a mattress and a base costing roughly $7,000 but after seeing how they treat their customers, I will never do business here. They lost out of a much larger sale and a potentially for-life customer over $200. They do not care about you or what you want as long as they can make a sale. They willl treat you very well but once your card is swiped, they will treat you like trash. I really hope no one else ever shops here. I wish I could say it was one person but every single person I interacted with (both in the store and on the phone) never had any intention of actually helping me out. Michael: "You adjusted it to zero?!!" Us: "yes, you didn't tell us otherwise, we wanted to test the range...." Wish I could give negative star. Long story short. I ordered a bed in 2014 taking the 24 month 0 finance deal. You'd think such a big company will take care of everything for such a big purchase. I definitely trusted them 100% and took granted that I would pay off in 2 years with their 'wonderful' promotion. What a mistake! Only recently I found out I have been paying ridiculously high interest for 6 years and my current balance is till more than $2k I called in and of course Sleep Number doesn't care. So be careful everyone, don't fall in any promotion this company is running. Always validate yourself (my biggest mistake). It's better to assume you are dealing with an evil blood sucking company rather than trusting them putting customers' interest in the first place. Well I already need to revise this because we just had a visit from a wonderful employee who tightened our crack. That's right, the initial installation had been wrong with regard to the two mattresses not butting up against each other correctly, thus creating an ever-widening gap in the middle of our split king bed. This gap was not only annoying, but would interfere with spooning and, if the crack were to continue enlarging, with forking too. Now it looks totally normal: two twin XLs pressed right up against each other to make a perfect split king bed. Yay!! No more having to move over to avoid the gap; it's like a solid bed! Just like we wanted! We're still figuring out exactly what sleep number works best for each of us. I wake up sometimes with a bad back and think there's no improvement over any old bed with springs. Other times it's wonderful. Patience is key with this purchase. I can't wait to feel rested and refreshed in the mornings, aside from all the fun and style this bed has to offer. 1 star only because zero isn't an option. I recommend that if you visit this store and Manny is on duty, come back another time. I would never buy anything from him. When he asks "what type of mattress do you typically like" and you reply "really firm", he'll begin by telling you that's the term "firm" doesn't apply to mattresses, the proper term is "dense", then will argue that every mattress ever made has a "pillow top" on it, particularly firm ones. (?) Oh yeah, remember that we started by talking about firmne... Uh, "density"? So why then does Manny need to take me through every mattress in the store, beginning with the LEAST fir, uh, dense? I'll tell you why. Manny clearly thinks his advanced degree in mattress engineering is so unique and specialized that he needs to condescendingly explain highly technical terms like "density". I actually walked into the store set on dropping a few Gs on a new sleep number bed based on the fact that my wife and I have slept on one previously and LOVED it. Sadly, even under those circumstances, Manny still couldn't close the deal, and I ended up buying elsewhere. read more

Please read this before you make a purchase. I took my mother to this store on May 4 to look at a mattress. The sales guy introduced her to different types of beds. My mom was unsure about the price but the sales guy assured me we can try the bed for 100 days. I purchased the bed for my mom for $6963.00 But after 90 days my mom said she doesn't like the bed anymore. She asked me to return it. I called Sleep Number and they told me they will take back the bed but will not take back the base. The base is $3000.00 When I purchase the sleep number bed. Not once did the sales guy mentioned the base was a final sale. He purposely hid that from me. Do not believe them when they say you have 100 days to try it SCAM!!!! read more

I went to the store the try the beds because I heard a lot of good compliments on the Sleep Number beds. I was able to talk to Marcel, who is the store manager, and he spent over 1 hour with me on getting my sleep IQ number and letting me try all of the beds, explaining each and every feature. Not only did he go over the beds, we went to help us choose our pillows and beddings as well. Marcel is the nicest and sweetest sales person - very passionate about his job, very knowledgeable, and very professional. I was from out of town so I did not get to purchase the bed at the store, but Marcel gave me his business card and I went back home and visited another store in my city to try the beds again. The beds are expensive so we gotta think thoroughly to make an important decision! I missed the beds so much so I decided to buy them - through Marcel over the phone. Marcel was able to get me through interest free financing at which the store offered at that time, and he spent another hour on the phone with me to go over each and every item that I would be purchasing. Best Customer Service I have ever received! My wife and I recently invested in a Sleep Number bed. I write "invested" as their beds are not cheap but in doing our homework and talking with friends who have a Sleep Number bed, we knew that this would be a worthwhile long-term purchase. We worked with Marcel throughout the entire sales process. As referenced by other Yelpers, his passion for his work and the quality service he provides to his customers goes beyond anything I have experienced in a customer-service oriented market. Marcel was attentive, listened to our needs and was never pushy from a sales perspective. He was able to address all our questions and made us feel comfortable with our purchase throughout the entire sales cycle. The only small complaint that I have is not with the store but with their warehouse. They seem to totally work independent of each other. There is no control over delivery dates nor can the local store help with customer service inquires. It would be nice to have these two sides work a little closer. I also wanted to comment that delivery team (2 guys) were also very courteous, friendly and helpful. They explained everything about our bed and made the set-up extremely easy and stress free. Everyone we worked with at Sleep Number was passionate about their work and really believed in the products they were selling/supporting. After having our Sleep Number adjustable mattress for 2 weeks, I see why they have passion for their job. This mattress is extremely comfortable and I have not slept this good since I was a baby! Not a fan of the sleep number customer service process. We purchased a sleep number bed and several bedding accessories in Nov 2016. It took over six weeks to receive the correct items. When we contacted the store to return some unopened, new items, we were met with the information sleep number does not accept returns, only exchanges. Try finding a posted return policy in their store. The one I found was covered with pamphlets and information, nothing clearly posted in plain view. Purchasing a new bed should not be a painful experience, but sleep number has achieved this with flying colors. read more

I recently made my first ever sleep number purchase and I was ecstatic!! As I waited for my bed for two months (understandable that delivery was delayed because of covid) it finally arrives today. The techs that were sent to my house were super nice and helpful. They made me aware of the mistake that the sales person at this location has made. The tech pointed out that my full mattress was not a dual which means it only has 1 sleep number setting for the whole bed instead of having 2 different sleep number settings on both sides. WHY THE H** did the sleep number sales guy at this location not catch that when selecting my purchases??? It's upsetting that my boyfriend and i spent so much time at the store figuring out our sleep number setting with the worker and finding out today that we do not get that choice in our bed. NOW we are forced to sleep with the same sleep number setting and have uncomfortable sleep. Very disappointing that this mistake was made and no one is able to help me with this. This review is for our sales person at the Oakridge Mall Store in Jose, Les Acevedo. We purchased an $8000.00 bed from him a few weeks ago. One of the deciding factors on our purchase was the fact that Les specifically told us that we could use our rewards credit card to make the payments on the interest free loan that Sleep # gave us to purchase the bed. Well, this morning I logged on the finance company's website to make our first payment only to find out that they only allow payments with a bank account number or with a debit cardNno credit cards accepted. Now, I cannot believe that Les would have deliberately deceived us however we were in fact deceived. Les, unless you are sure on the answer to a question like that you should not give one. I am only giving three stars for the service I initially received from Mike the manager. He seemed genuine when he was helping me out to find the right pillow and assured me that I could return the pillow as long as I was unsatisfied because their goal was to have every customer satisfied with their purchase. Well, trying to return a fourth pillow I guess wasn't in the cards for me and Mike was no longer available to help me. The person in the store today told me I should've never been able to exchange after the first time, because they destroy the pillows after being used, which I guess makes sense to me but I wish I would've known that going into trying to find a pillow. So now I feel I was misled. I have very bad neck pain and I can't seem to find the right pillow for me. I bought an adjustable bed from sleep number that has put off a horrible smell since it was delivered. The sales person assured us that any odors would air out within a week -- not true. It has now been three months and it smells like chemicals in our bedroom. The company has done nothing for us to try to fix the problem, despite multiple calls and e-mails to them. They even declined to share information about the chemicals that are being released into the air by the materials in their bed and upholstery bed frame. You know you are dealing with an disreputable company when their response to a request about product safety information is "Well, by law we don't need to tell you." I should also add that they removed a previous review I posted on Yelp. Also beware of GE Capital, the company they use for financing....another shady company that sells your information to anyone who wants it. read more

I have had a sleep number bed for over 20 years. I know the customer service is fantastic. If you call up even after years of owning the bed the customer service is wonderful and will assist you with replacement parts or upgrades. My sleeping needs have changed so it was time to upgrade the bed. Yesterday I went to the Blossom Hill store in San Jose, CA. I want to give my salesperson Jon and the store a 5! I was concerned that the store might not have an inventory on site to be able to try the beds but they have a great selection. Jon was extremely knowledgable and helpful. He asked many questions in order to determine which models might suit my husband and me. He went over each of the beds pros and cons for our specific needs. Jon was very professional and patient as I went back and forth between three beds asking questions for over an hour. The bed I picked was both the best for our needs and affordable. The beds have sleep IQ that tracks your sleep and connects to other devices including smart phones and fitness apps. The beds have a 25 year warranty. EXTREMELY TERRIBLE customer service. The representative at the store would be very nice before you buy anything from them, but once you buy they will be HORRIBLE. I had to call like a thousand times to change my order. The customer service would direct you to the store representative and the store representatives would tell you to call the customer service. So it is like a cycle which keeps you wondering what to do. The store representative also just hung up after telling me to call customer service. The exact conversation was like ' Call the customer service. Hello... Hello... (Pretending that he would not hear anything) and then just hang up. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with the service. The bed broke within 30 days and we had to call multiple times to get the service department out. We took the day off work and then the service dept didn't show up. The second time they showed up 3 hours late without all the parts needed to fix the bed. Sleep Number blamed it on the service company. Perhaps they forgot it is their job to manage the service company. When we told Sleep Number we wanted to return the bed, they said we had to pay the shipping. My wife and I had an absolutely remarkable experience at this store. We purchased our king i10 yesterday from Marcel Stevenson, who knew the answer to every question we had. Such a friendly salesman. We were prepared in advance for the sticker shock of the i10, but going on friends' testimonials, and what we saw with Marcel, I know we made the right choice. Neither of us wanted to get out of the bed at the store to go home. You spend 1/3 of your life on your bed. It should be the best thing you own. The features and comfort of the i10 was unrivaled anywhere we looked. My wife and I are polar opposites on what we consider comfortable. Sleep Number is the only real option for us, and luckily, the solution is beyond expectations. Our experience with the brand has been a wonderful one so far. read more

Went in browsing with a friend who is in the market for a new mattress. The first 30 seconds the guy named possibly Victor (hopefully that's his name)( Big burly guy with no neck) didn't even acknowledge us. Then when he did he was extremely condescending answering our basic questions. There was another employee sitting in a chair looking at his phone. They exchanged annoyed glances smirking and basically rolling their eyes. Then on top of that No neck stood next to me as I was reading some options and wouldn't leave, like I was going to steal something. It was so awkward. And finally after another few minutes as my friend tried mattresses I asked if they had a card. Only for no neck to be extremely condescending yet again and say no you can go online. The cherry on this proverbial shit customer sundae was when we we're walking out, they were not even holding back their laughter talking shit about us for no reason. I get they were bored on a Sunday afternoon, but that absolutely doesn't give you the right to legit disrespect your customers. My friend who never says anything about mistreatment even said something to me. What these idiots didn't realize is that I'm a secret shopper. I wasn't even supposed to review their store today but happened to go by the store because of my friend. We bought our bed from Marcel. He was professional and friendly. He went out of his way to answer every question my wife and I asked and was very informative and knowledgable during the entire process. His professionalism is only shadowed by his sense of humor and ability to make you feel comfortable in his store. I can honestly state that if it were not for Marcel, we would not have purchased a sleep number bed. When he spoke about his products he put his heart and SOUL into it. Even after the sale Marcel called to check in and see how the process was going. And to speak to the entire process so far, the Sleep Number professionals have been fantastic to work with every step of the way so far. We were able to schedule delivery when it was convenient for us and they sent every email and made every call when they said they would. I cannot speak to the bed itself yet, it will be delivered in a few days. I will try to return to write an update after we have slept on the bed for a few weeks. Customer Service Extremely BAD!!! My delivery in San Francisco near showed up, no one called. When I called customer service they had no idea what happened and all they could say is their delivery service is separate from them. Then, when I called the sales person, Les, who sold me the bed, said he was going to find out what was happening and call me back. I never heard from him. I called Sleep Number Customer service multiple times and told me they could not accommodate my building's docks hours. Then I called Les again to cancel and he said he couldn't cancel the order, customer service has to cancel(which is funny, he can sell it to me but not cancel). I called customer service to cancel and they said I needed a supervisor, which I waited for 40 minutes, then the call got disconnected. So I called back and the customer service person said she could do it, interesting without a supervisor? So, I canceled my order and the customer service person never even asked, Why! I asked her why and she said if people ate calling to cancel they just need to cancel the order. So, if you need to cancel just call customer service! read more

I had no problem with the local store, or the bed itself for that matter, but the corporate services are another story. One of the big selling points for us is the SleepIQ function and we paid a significant amount of money for it. The web site is reporting obviously incorrect numbers and the SleepIQ number is completely different from the graph it shows so clearly this is a problem with the service and not the bed. The problem has even gotten much worse since they did a system update about a month ago. Numerous calls to Sleep Number have gotten nowhere. They randomly state that it is a known problem, that the bed must be faulty (wasting my time with needless troubleshooting steps), that the graph is wrong and data right (or vice versa), etc, etc. They even say that Sleep Number has no control of this since the "coders" need to fix the problem (duh!) as if the coding is not their responsibility to maintain. Since the SleepIQ function is most valuable in the beginning while getting adjusted to the bed, we have completely wasted our investment. If you care about SleepIQ, do not buy this bed since the company is not to be trusted to maintain a working service. read more

We have had a sleep number bed and my wife called their customer service because the bed is loosing air pressure. The customer service rep was very nice BUT her solution was for us to take the bad apart and inspect the frame and take out hoses etc. Then she wanted to send a complete frame to our house for us to install. A service tech could be out in about 2 weeks to address the air leak for a $160 service fee. Don't buy one of these beds because they are not reliable and the service is very poor. read more

I purchased a $2,500.00 Mattress from these guys to help cure my back aches from long term sports injuries etc. Although, the mattress has done its job over a 1 1/2 year period it is now starting to dip & sag toward the head rest area. Compared to a traditional mattress. 1 1/2 years is not a very long time for a durable item to last you even after pumping maximum amount of level of firmness into it. Not only that but to add insult I recently moved, and I can't find the cable to the electric air pump. I called asking for some help, so I don't have to sleep on the floor etc. However, the only way to get one is to order one from customer service that takes two weeks. If I want an overnight delivery it is $80 dollars shipping for a $ 6 dollar cable. For a 2 day delivery made today it cost $26 dollars for a $6 cable to arrive 5 days from now on Monday today is Wednesday. So my options are sleep on the floor, purchase a $100+ air bed mattress. I called the stores and they don't sell them, and they are not allowed to let customers even borrow a cable or they will be fired. So I'm a fish out of water in the meantime m for another 5 days 8 days total, and my back can run into issues again during this time. Can you say "inconvenience". My husband and I loved our experience at Sleep Number after visiting 2 other mattress stores. We heard such good things about Sleep Number from our family and friends, we were very excited. We were surprised that the mattress we wanted cost less than the other mattresses we liked at the other stores. Marcel was our salesman, who did an excellent job in making us feel comfortable and explained everything very well. He was fun to talk to and gave us the time we needed to make our decision.
