I have not eaten pork or beef 50 years, till I visited slice house in Ventura today. I ordered a medium cheese with extra red sauce. Yum! I just tried the "Sicilian" purple potato pizza... wow! That was delicious! The Sicilian is the best dough, and my personal favorite style of pizza. It's a fluffy focaccia bread that makes any of the pizzas delicious. I highly recommend "Sicilian" style pizza . I'll get this many more times and try this style with the other pizzas. I also tried the three meatballs. Very tasty, tasty marinara sauce as well . I also recommend this, and will probably get again. I tried the spumoni ice cream (Spumoni is Cherry, Chocolate, Pistachio with pistachio nuts in the ice cream and maraschino cherry pieces in the cherry ice cream) . Very tasty and refreshing ice cream! It's unique, and tasty! Definitely will get again. However, I've tried the "New York" style pizzas previous times, and I don't think it's good, will not recommend it. Too oily, the dough doesn't taste good (in my opinion) . Altogether, I recommend "Slice House" to everyone! It's fun to try new things, and see what all these different pizzas are like. The people working there are fantastic! Wonderful staff! So every Friday night my Wife and I pick a place to go out to dinner. At least every other week I say Slice HouseI And my Wife invariably replies, In Thousand Oaks? You want to drive to Thousand Oaks in Friday Rush Hour traffic? Don't you think it would be better to stop by for lunch sometime during the week? And I always concede the point and we go somewhere else for dinner. And despite our best intentions, we never actually make it to Thousand Oaks for lunch. I suffer without Slice House for months and months. Time passes, but the memories of Slice House slices past burn brightly and sustain me through my darkest days. And then, to my utter astonishment, a Slice House opens in Ventura. Oh my freaking god! Suddenly I can have Slice House any time I want it. I can have it every week. It's like I won the damn lottery! Wow- Slice House feels like it's a hit right from the start. I went for lunch on a Sat. for my first visit. It's steady crowded but the line moves quickly- but it can be difficult to actually have somewhere to sit and eat your pizza due to the crowd. But I think many are coming for take-out or pick up orders. With the first bite (Angeleno Grandma style) you can taste the quality difference. I am easy with pizza- I even enjoy frozen pizzas so I'm not too picky. BUT wow, these slices were packed with deep flavors, spices from the pepperoni and meat toppings. I will definitely come back to try more of their Motorhead (Detroit) Deep dish pizza. I'm originally from that area, who would've thought our pizza would someday become semi viral food trend?! Finally made it in to try Ventura's Slice House! Came in knowing they have barely opened and employees are still training and getting service up to standard but super hopeful for a great experience. Came in for early Sunday dinner and of course it's busy. A lot of team members working to get pizzas out correctly and efficiently. We ourselves experienced quality service. Overall team members are still being trained and the workflow is still in the process in finding its groove but great customer service all around when ordering and receiving the food. We got ourselves the daily slice special. Which was the Rosa and Combo Americano. The Grandma style Rosa slices were amazing. The crispy cheesy crust gave it so much flavor and texture and the marinara sauce was packed with flavor and the pepperonis were crispy and flavorful. You have to get yourselves the Hot honey and Ranch it's definitely elevated the flavors. The Combo Americano was good (New York style) floppy but super good! My wife isn't a huge pizza fan but the Slice House has changed her mind! Don't skip on the cannolis! Super creamy filling and tasty chocolate chips and pistachios. I don't recommend the Spumoni ice cream unless you're already familiar with it. It's my favorite ice cream and super happy to have it available here! There's plenty of booths and tables to sit inside and outside but it does get busy esp during happy hour. There's tvs inside for entertainment. We spent about $68 for 5 slices of pizza, 1 medium drink, 2 cannolis and 1 serving of ice cream. It's on the pricey side but it's worth it. New pizzeria in town, located in Montalvo Square. I've been here twice and both times I was impressed by the pizza. I've tried the Angeleno, Motorhead and Cheese pizza. All were delicious! I love the different crust options, my favorite so far is the Detroit style crust. The thick focaccia crust is perfect for the bread lover. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I try not to leave negative reviews, but I was sorely disappointed with my experience at Slice House. A friend mentioned they had Detroit-style pizza, and as a Detroit native, I obviously had to give it a try. It had a lot of the qualities of true Detroit-style pizza, but something was just a little off. The Wisconsin cheese and little pepperonis were perfect, but overall it didn't quite hit the mark. (The two stars were earned solely for the Wisconsin Cheese and Pepperonis) In hindsight, we probably should have just gotten one slice each, but they didn't have the flavor we wanted available as Detroit-style by the slice. We were also offered ranch in two sizes and were told our slices wouldn't fit in the smaller cups, so we upgraded. The cashier even made hand gestures showing us approximately how big the larger size was supposed to be, but what we received was nowhere near what was indicated. What really bothered me, though, happened at the end. I went back up and ordered two cookies from the plate of cookies on display. Instead, they handed us two much smaller cookies from the back. They weren't the same as the ones being displayed, and they basically crumbled apart. By that point, I genuinely felt ripped off. We also waited quite a while for our food, which gave us plenty of time to observe what was happening in the restaurant. During that time, another customer was visibly upset because they had apparently called the store repeatedly and no one had answered. I didn't read the reviews before coming in, and after looking at them afterward, I'm honestly surprised by some of the hype. Maybe California has just conditioned people to accept subpar pizza choices when Topper's somehow gets treated like the gold standard. If you want a 10/10 Detroit-style pizza experience in Southern California, go to Detroit Pizza Depot in Hollywood. Those guys will wow you. This place just opened a few days ago so it was very busy during lunch. Even with being so, the staff did a great job communicating and making sure the line kept moving with great service in the process. There's not a lot of seating inside but I still managed to find a seat. I ordered the Sweet Gino (not big on sweet but I dont eat meat and that was the only option for the day besides cheese) but It was delicious. Especially with adding their spicy oil. Being from NJ I couldn't wait to try the new Slice house by TG. He's a legend in SF and if any of you have ever stood in line at his North Beach restaurant you know. I've always said it's as close to a real NY slice as you can get. I get one anytime I'm in the city which is now very rare due to it being such a s&@t hole. But this new idea Tony had is a great one. I was craving pizza and I came here, and let me tell you I will definitely be back! I ordered one pepperoni slice to go, and even after the drive home, it tasted amazing! The wait at the restaurant was around 5 minutes at the restaurant, and you wait with a buzzer. Something I really like is that on the buzzer there is a mute button so when it rings, you don't have to hold it while it rings. I've never seen that before! Overall amazing pizza! read more

This is a proper slice shop with real variety -- we tried the Motorhead (Detroit style) and the Angeleno (a Grandma-style slice), and both were excellent. They also offer a Sicilian style for those who want to branch out further. The hot honey drizzle, about $2 extra, was a worthwhile add, I'd personally love a spicier kick, but the flavor was on point. My fiancé tried the ranch and noted it had that familiar, taste like Hidden Valley. A nice touch: they carry Tony's hot pepper oil on the side, which paired beautifully with the hot honey for anyone (like me) who wants extra heat. If you're stopping by for lunch, their $11.99 lunch special is a great deal. A slice, your choice of small craft or Caesar salad, and a drink, available daily from 11 AM to 4 PM. The staff were friendly, and the space is well equipped, soda machines, a clean bathroom, and plastic utensils provided. My only critique: the order/pickup system felt a little inconsistent, as some customers received a table number while others were given a pager. I'd also gently suggest not resting the pickup receipt directly on top of the pizza when handing it over a small thing, but one I noticed. Came here for the first time on Thursday and will never be back. The service was absolutely horrible, as soon as we walked in, we weren't greated at all. The employees just stared at everyone walking in and felt so awkward. Went to order and stood there for 10 minutes while the girl with blue hair kept looking at us like we were aliens, she was standing there not doing anything, and asking her busy co workers behind the counter "whose gonna help them?". With a horrible look on her face. While she wasn't doing anything, another girl came up to the register and helped us finally, she was nice. Ordered the pepperoni and sat down to eat, it tasted worse than a frozen pizza. They have the pizza displayed at the window that they reheat. It had way too much sauce that tasted like canned tomatoes, no cheese and bread was okay. Lacked flavor overall. We also kept getting interrupted by the employees reaching over us at our booth taking our napkin dispensers away even though they were full? Not sure why they kept doing that, it was weird how many times they were reaching over us when we were eating at our booth. No idea how these employees got the job with how uncomfortable they make customers. Especially with their frowns. Everyone i've asked so far says they had a pretty bad experience here. read more
